#WatchfulBride
“the bride wasn't just like, you know, outdating other people or casual about this or I don't know if he'll ever come back. She's like, well, when he gets there, I'll throw a bag together. You know what she was doing? She'd prepared her garments. Her wedding dress was hung up. Her bride, bridesmaids were ready to go. There was oil in her lamp because the bridegroom would come at night. Oil in the lamp, garments are clean, she's lived in purity. And what happened was, after a few months, the anticipation began to grow. And she thought, any day now, any day now, my bridegroom will come. And sure enough, one night he would come in with his bridal party. And as they came into town, there would be celebration and people would blow the trumpet or the shofar. And all of those images that Jesus took from the Jewish wedding is exactly what he said the coming of the Son of Man would be like. So keep watch. Are we living with an anticipation like the bride that says, Lord, it could be today. I wanna see you face to face. I long for heaven. And perhaps if you don't have that in your spirit, spend more time in his word, more time in his presence, more time beholding him. I believe God will give you a holy spirit desire to be with your king, and you can watch for his return.”

“People turned from their wicked ways. They repented from their wants to the very desires that Jesus had for them, for the Holy Spirit's work in their lives. They turned to that. They were baptized. Thousands of them were baptized. Their families came to know the Lord. And after they had met here for the festival in Jerusalem, guess where they went? They went home. I mean, some of them hang out for a while, but these people went back to their homes. And all of a sudden, Jesus did what he commanded the disciples to do. The Holy Spirit did the work that Jesus asked his disciples to do. Do you get that? Like, the disciples were just obedient and willing. The Holy Spirit did the work.”

“Now I wanna tell you something extremely, extremely important. God loves the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and whatever plus stands for, people. He loves them so much. He sent his son Jesus to die for their sin. Just like he sent him to die for mine. If you do not tell them that, that is not love, that is hate. Because we have a hundred and twenty years on this earth, but eternity is forever. And, what we do in our hundred and twenty years, what we do in our forty years, what we do in our sixteen years, whatever God gives us, determines eternity.”

“And he reminds them of two things, older son, you've never been outside of my love, and your brother's restoration is not a threat to your belonging. This is the word for the church today. Someone else receiving grace does not take away from those who have been on the path all along, and the church ought to be a place where prodigals can come home. A place where the broken can come, those who are not crying, really quite doing it the way we think they should, they should be welcomed home. A place where people can say, I was lost, now I'm found. Because there is no place like home.”

“With this being truth and his revealed will, you can never claim to be in God's will if it is a in direct conflict with his commands and his moral laws and the things found in this bible right here. You can say, well, I like them or I like that group or or or I like their I like their platform or what they stand for. Ladies and gentlemen, I can like and love people and I'm supposed to according to God. But if what they are saying does not come into alignment with this word, then it is not this is his revealed will. Then I can't come into alignment with what they are saying or what they are doing because this is the revealed will of God.”

“And so went the church. The early Christian community was this conglomeration of Jews and Gentiles, of men and women, of slaves and free. Your social status, your gender, anything about your sexuality given this eunuchs thing, and your ethnicity should not separate you from one another because it does not separate you from God, Because all are one in Christ, Paul says in the book of Galatians.”

“Grace that gives itself away to the one who wished the dead. On a cross, Jesus said, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. You see, a robe was placed on the younger son because the robe of Jesus was torn off of him. You see, a ring was put on the younger son because nails were pierced through the hands of Jesus. You see, shoes were put on the feet of the younger son because nails were driven through the feet of Jesus. On the cross, Jesus was treated as the outcast so that we could be brought into God's family.”

“We've gotta be humble. He says, humbly accept the word planted in you. Humility means approaching God's word with a willingness to obey. In other words, we don't say to God like, hey God, why don't you tell me what you want me to do and then I'll decide. Alright? That's not what we're talking about. We're saying, Lord, whatever it is, whatever you want me to do, you know, I will follow. That is becoming a heart posture of someone who's ready to hear from God. Alright? So if we wanna establish our lives on God's word, it begins by receiving it with our ears.”

“That we are compared to birds and god is compared to birds, I find particularly interesting because it reminds us that we are made in god's image, That we are actually made to be in God's likeness, to be like him. And it reminds us also that Jesus came into our world to take on our likeness, to take on our humanity. And so even though we wander away from the Lord, even though we wander outside the refuge, outside the wall, outside without our shields and protection, and get ensnared by the fowler and trapped by the devil, Jesus comes after us. He pries open the trap and lets us go free. And then he does the unthinkable. He allows himself to be ensnared. He allows himself to be trapped by the devil. He takes on Satan's death machine and dies.”

Why Concord churches are unique

Concord’s diversity—shaped by immigrant communities from Latin America and Asia—gives churches in Concord a distinctly multicultural feel, with multilingual worship and community services that meet people where they are. Many congregations blend traditions and provide practical help, reflecting neighborhood needs through bilingual Spanish and Tagalog services, multicultural congregations and outreach, and immigrant family support ministries.
Family-centered suburban life influences Concord churches to invest deeply in the next generation, drawing from the city’s parks, schools, and sports leagues to create welcoming spaces for kids and teens. You’ll find accessible programming like strong kids programs for young families, special needs family support, and parenting workshops and marriage care that fit busy schedules and emphasize safety and community.
As a regional hub with BART access and proximity to job centers and Diablo Valley College, the city attracts commuters and students who value convenience and relevance. Many congregations respond with evening services, practical teaching, and contemporary music, offering options like young adults and professionals, modern worship with contemporary band, and expository Bible teaching.
