#GodIsWithYou
“You see, the Lord was with Joseph. Joseph's circumstances changed, God's presence didn't. He went from the pit to Potiphar's house. From Potiphar's house to prison. Eventually, from prison straight to the palace. But through every place, God was with him. They that ought to encourage every single one of us this morning. That no matter where we're at in life, that God is with us. Your situation is not proof that God has left you. Your prison is not proof that God has abandoned you. And your difficulty is not proof that God isn't working. Joseph could see Joseph couldn't see the whole plan, but God could. And God was with him.”

“New Testament version of this is the time Jesus is walking through a large crowd. There are people everywhere. And all of a sudden, as he's walking through this crowd, you know the kind of crowds, like, when a football game lets out and you're just, like, walking with people and you're just, like, claustrophobic. It's a crowd like that. Jesus is walking out, and all of sudden, he's like, somebody touched me. And the disciples like, everybody touched you. Like, there's everybody, people all around you. He's like, no, no. I felt power leave me. And a lady comes forth and she says it was me. She had an issue of blood. Nobody could heal her, but she reached out and touched the hem of his garment. There's a tassel that Jesus is a rabbi would wear. He had four tassels as part of his prayer garments. And she reached out and just grabbed a hold of one of them. The reason why she did that is not because she was like, I can barely reach out and get them. The reason she reached out and touched them on the tassel is because there was a promise of a Messianic king that could heal and says there's healing in his wings or in his tassels. And she makes a claim of loyalty that Jesus is the Messiah and the King of the Jews and that faith heals her like this.”

#WordMadeFlesh
“But when I think about the voice of god I don't think the voice of god could be any louder than what he said in the person of Jesus. I really don't. I think when Jesus left heaven and Jesus came to Earth, for John says it this way, that the word, the word of god became flesh and dwelt among us. The word of god became flesh. If you wanna know what the voice of god sounds like, look at what Jesus did for you. Jesus left heaven and came to Earth, lived a life you could never live, restored a relationship that you could never restore, unlocked deaf ears, opened blind eyes, replaced hearts of stone with hearts of flesh. Jesus is the voice of god telling us that there's hope for our hearing. Yes. Yes. Amen. There's hope for my hearing.”

“There is no greater gift. No gold, no silver, nothing you can give will last them longer or care for them more than Jesus of Nazareth. So may all our lives be impacted in such a way that we go out and spread his love with others. But I tell you the same thing. You can't give what you aren't full already of. So whatever it takes for your heart to be full to overflowing with the power and the love of Christ, make sure you attend to those things. So now may we go from this place knowing that our call to be an extraordinary supernatural body of Christ is that we, as ordinary people, will take the love of God, the forgiveness of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit with us. Amen.”

“Not only are we given each of us unique gifts and passions that God intends for us for both our enjoyment and to find meaning and fulfillment in life, But then the holy spirit also uses those different gifts and callings as part of god's grand symphony of creation. For we know that god has a plan for each of us to help tell God's story of love and redemption in this world, even though none of us really know exactly what God's plan for our life will be from start to finish. All we know is that we're on this journey with God, and the final destination is out of this world.”

“) "We can live the best life even if we don't have an abundance. We can live the best life even if we have nothing. Because our life is not found in being rich in all these things, but our life is found in being rich towards God. And if that's been a temptation for you, if that's been a struggle for you to identify with having so many things and feeling like this is what gives me life, that's okay because there's an opportunity tonight for you to have a conversation with the Lord and for you to admit, Lord, I have put my possessions above you."”

“"Listen, you got to tell somebody. And it's never safer than right here. All right. Amen. Thank you for choosing to trust God. Guys, we're not done yet. We're going to have this moment of response. I know that you've got stuff in your heart that you need to bring to the Lord. So you can do that in your seat. You can come up and pray. We ask for prayer. We've got faithful men and women that love to walk with you. But don't leave thirsty. Come and give it to Jesus. God, every heart here is yours. We want you. We want your love. We are for you because you are for us. We say, God, it's all yours. We come to the altar."”

#RepentNotExcuses
“Repentance begins when we stop making excuses and when our excuses end. You cannot get right with God while constantly blaming everybody else. You can't get right with God when you blame everybody else. There comes a moment when you have to say, I was wrong. I sinned. I need forgiveness. God change You see, both men show us that God still, that God can still use a person, but we must never take sin lightly. Just because David did those things, does not give us permission to do those things either. That's a warning.”

#SinIsAgainstGod
“``Joseph understood something that I want every single one of us, especially if you are a Christian this morning, to understand. Sin is ultimately against God. We might simply say, hey, well, people sin or I sin, but sin is ultimately against God. Joseph didn't say, what if Potiphar finds out? He didn't say, what if somebody sees me? He didn't say, nobody will ever know. He said, how then can I do wickedness and sin against God?”

#RunFromTemptation
“There are some things you just don't need to debate. There are some things you don't need to debate. There are some places you don't need to stay. There are some conversations you do not need to continue to have. There are some temptations you don't need to see how close you can get to it. Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is run. Doing right doesn't mean everything will go right either.”

Why Spartanburg churches are unique

Anchored by a lively downtown and three nearby campuses—Wofford, Converse, and USC Upstate—churches in Spartanburg often blend intellectual curiosity with practical service. With students, faculty, and young professionals circulating between campus and Main Street, many Spartanburg churches offer mentoring, flexible gathering times, and worship that connects the classroom to the community, including college student ministries, young adults and professionals, and modern worship with contemporary band.
Growth across neighborhoods like Converse Heights and the Northside, alongside nearby suburban expansion, has shaped churches in Spartanburg to be welcoming to newcomers, commuters, and multi-generational households. This means a strong emphasis on childcare, practical support networks, and outreach to an increasingly international workforce, so many congregations prioritize strong kids programs for young families, multilingual services and outreach, and community partnerships and service.
Spartanburg’s “Hub City” history—textile mill villages, rail lines, and a deep African American church heritage—cultivates congregations that value both tradition and transformation. From choir-rich Sundays to verse-by-verse preaching and neighborhood renewal efforts in districts like Hampton Heights and the Northside, you’ll find a blend of reverence and action, with gospel choir and traditional hymns, expository Bible teaching, and racial reconciliation and unity efforts.
