there's a saying that the Old Testament is Christ concealed in the New Testament is Christ revealed fitting with that central theme because the Old Testament predicts the coming of of Christ is set the stage for his Incarnation and then the New Testament comes and describes his coming in his world he describes him coming into the world and all the things that he's done to to bring Salvation into the sinful world to praise God for that that was God's plan the entire time and by the way this book isn't about just Jesus as a historical figure right there's no debate these days most Scholars would admit whether they be Christian or not that their their Jesus was a historical person there's there's no denying that these days but this book simply isn't about him being a historical figure he is more than a man and in fact he is God in the flesh again to use that word I don't know any better word than amazing to think about what he's done the fact that he came down from Glory he put on flesh he lived a sinless life and conquered the grave as the most important message known to man there's nothing greater you can't beat that you could try as many headlines as you want to but there's just no greater message than what Jesus Christ done for us John 1 and 14 it says and the word became flesh and dwelt among Among Us and we have seen his glory glorious to the only son from the father full of grace and truth hmm and he did that for you he did that for me says we look at Romans and and think about everything that we've talked about up to this point here in the 11th chapter Paul has been he's been wrestling with this burden that he has for those who were lost in heaven except in Christ they haven't submitted their life to him and he's trying to tell them 60 ways to Thursday that hey this this is what you need to know all the stuff all the rituals all the rules all the stuff doesn't mean anything unless you got Jesus he's like well okay you don't get that let me tell you this way all
right that's not a resume let me tell you this way he he's got a heart he's got a burden for these people to know Christ man I wish we can have that man I wish we would have a love for other people who don't know Christ so much that we would just spend our time just pouring into them so that they can understand and know who Jesus Christ is because nobody else is going to tell them they're they're they're too busy on Netflix and and watching the news and all these other things that they're not going to find Jesus there but God has placed you around them so that you can provide your testimony you can tell them about how good Jesus has been to you you can tell them about the hope that you have and maybe they might listen so like Paul he goes in and he explains the magnificence of God and what he's done and he's just moved by the promises of God so as he's evangelizing as he's he's telling the folks about who God is and what he's done and what how Jesus has has come into to to play as he's telling this he's starting to get moved he's like if you don't get it man I'm getting moved by it because he knows where he came from he knows what God brought him out of and so as he's having a conversation with these folks and evangelizing them it's almost he's getting saved all over again just getting excited because of the love that he sees that God has had for them he is in awe of God in his plan man I wish I wish that for us we take for granted all the freedoms that we have here today that even that we're even able to come into a place and open up the scripture there's parts of the world where people can't do that that you can turn on and jump on YouTube and jump on Facebook and hear somebody preaching God's word not everybody is able to do that not everybody has that kind of access that we tend to take for granted I want us to slow down a little bit today and really think and consider about who God is and what he's done for us I want us to think about how good God is and I
want us to be in awe just like we see with Paul here this morning I want you to listen meditate on God's words here today and I hope that you were sharing his his awe and amazement of God it takes some time to consider and celebrate God's wisdom here in America we move too fast we got too many things going on we gotta punch out our task list or we got to get from one place to another slow down take a minute this morning to meditate on God and who he is take some time to consider and meditate on his wisdom take some time to think about it consider God's sufficiency and we're talking about God as the creator sustainer of all creation and how he is everything look with me Romans 11. 11 and 33 is where we'll start take some time here this morning try to focus your best this morning on these few verses here God's word reads 11-33 says oh the deaths of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways for who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor or who has given the gift to him that he might be repaid for from him and through him and to him are all things to him be the glory forever amen Paul starts by saying we can't even imagine the deaths of God's wisdom and knowledge we simply can't if we could understand the the death and the Breath of God he he wouldn't be any kind of God that's where people get hung up well they they say well I can't understand uh this guy if God is who we say that then I would be able to understand everything would be clear and it'll be easy well then you would be God how would you have the same mind and understanding of death and Breath of God of the universe you don't even understand how gravity works but it's okay how do you think you're going to understand God Paul starts off here in his prayer he says oh the depths of your riches and wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways Paul ends this chapter with a prayer
and he goes with this prayer and starts to praise God for his wisdom and plans but like I said he's he's going through rehearsing and talking about all the things that God has done all the things that Jesus has done and he's just like this is I just can't contain myself anymore even though God's Ways and Means are beyond our own comprehension we know that God is Not arbitrary we know that God is is putting forth his plans there's nothing in this is is by accident he's never caught on his heels he's never surprised by what takes place in the world and he governs the universe and he governs our lives and perfect wisdom and Justice and love he's taking care of it he's got it if he spoke in the universe left into existence I'm sure he can handle you the little problems you have I'm not I'm not trying to diminish your problems but to God they are little oh what am I gonna eat later today how am I going to pay this bill what am I going to do next week how am I going to find this job it's very important absolutely to you you take it to God In Prayer and he makes things happen he is the one ultimately in control he's the one that's got it so you don't have to worry you you don't see the the birds and the squirrels out here worrying about where they gonna get their next food so how much more does he care for you and love you then Paul asks some rhetorical questions as it goes through verse 34 it says who's known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid these rhetorical questions that he's asking and of course the answer is no one not me not you no one through the course of history if we read through the scripture no one none of us could even hope to who knows the mind of the Lord like I just said if you knew everything that was going on with God and his mind then he wouldn't be much of a god I don't know about you but I'm pretty simple and certain things I just don't get but but I know God's got it I I know
God's is working all those things out and if you think you know as much as God hey man I gotta be praying for you because there's too many things even in this world that we don't even understand and Paul goes on to say who's been his counselor who do you think you are I love man Paul comes and he tells a plane like how many times has God come to ask you what he should do in this situation and even if he did you I mean I speak for myself I just mess it up to be honest with you I just I don't know I mean do do this is let's see what happens but but God is not throwing spaghetti against the wall God knows exactly what he's doing and how things should work no one has understood the mind of God no one has been his counselor God doesn't owe anyone anything you've never done God a favor you've never done anything to help him out it amazes me so when we when we think about the Old Testament with with Abram and and Sarah and he tells Abraham Lincoln I'm going to make you a nation of all these people and their Abraham is there to talk about well we don't know what's going to happen we're uh beyond our child bearing years well maybe he means maybe we need to help him immigration let's try this out right now that's that's not what I meant I told you that you both will have children and this is what we're going to do and they're like I don't understand guys you don't you don't know what I mean you know how this child bearing thing works right God didn't need their help got to need their instruction or their input he said this is what my promise is and I'm gonna make it happen and he did and as you continue to read through the scripture Time After Time promise after promise God shows up every single time and he'll do that for you as well Isaiah and Jeremiah asked them similar questions to what Paul asked here just to show that we're unable to give advice to God or criticize his ways Isaiah 40 and 13 it says who has measured the spirit of the Lord or what man has shows him his
counsel here Isaiah is talking about God's uh Power and describing it for us Israel in this moment in this time that that Isaiah is talking about they're afraid because the Babylonians are so strong but God has comes in and reminds them that he will accomplish what he promised I know you guys are scared I know you guys don't know what's going to happen but remember I'm your God his plans will not be stopped by the Babylonians or anybody else his plans are sure or in job 41 and 11 says it's funny when when when when when job encounters God and he's asking all these questions the guys put the smackdown on him like how dare you what do you think you God asks him the question uh who has who has first given to me that I should repay him whoever is under the whole Heaven Is Mine job made the mistake of doubting God and in turn God asked job more than 60 Questions and I imagine this was probably rapper fire like job didn't even have time to think about it oh you want to question me like think about these questions then so that you know who I am and recognize who I am and what I've done in Jeremiah 23 and 18 for who among them has stood in the counsel of the Lord to see and hear his word or who has paid attention to his word and listened well Paul lays out here is not a New Concept into the original hearers they they knew their Old Testament they didn't follow it very well but they knew it and so they would hear this I'm like oh man hopefully they're like yeah yeah you're right who were we to ask this question and do these things God is infinite in his wisdom and he doesn't need any help he is self-sufficient it got a loan possesses absolute power and wisdom absolutely and it's it's tough for us here in the U.S because we're we're folks who you know we got to pick our own selves up by our bootstraps we've got to work harder we gotta uh stay up longer we gotta do all these things we gotta Force this with just Grunt and mighty Force and because we're bombarded with this
message we forget that we need to spend time on our knees first and foremost that we need to consult the author of the universe before we do anything else that he is ultimately in control and we are not like I said speaking for me again the way I go my own way misunderstand talk to the wrong people do the wrong things but if I would just consult the Lord first it'd be obedient to to to what he's called me to do hmm things will be so much different then in verse 36. the icing on the cake here for from him and through him and to him or all things to him be glory forever amen because at the end of the day all of us every one of you myself were all dependent on God I saw a meme on Facebook and it talks about man I need the Holy Spirit to get through every day and there's two monkeys sitting together another monkey is like I need the Holy Spirit to go to Walmart that's the truth we need the Holy Spirit to wake up this morning to put our ourselves in our right mind the Lord has drawn us to him and it's not of our own ways and in doing he and he alone is the source of all things he's the power that sustains and rules the world that we live in we want to talk about coincidences and how things happen when you talk about how the world came into being and the the big bang and all this kind of stuff people want to say that it was just an accident how could you have an accident like this that created a world a universe that works and operates in the way that it does you move the Earth just a little bit and we wouldn't have an earth the Sun and the Earth rotating and all this stuff I mean I I can't even wrap my brains around it but I know if you change one little infinitesimal thing what's that I mean that's that's one big thing of an accident but I don't believe that is an accident I believe there is a creator I believe there is an architect that put all this together even if you look and understand our own bodies this this big thing of Goo that we're able to walk around and do
how how do I keep my organs inside my body and you're telling me that's an accident no there are creator of all of this and he is our God First Corinthians 8 and 6 says yet for us there is one God the father who from whom all things are all things and for whom we exist and one Lord Jesus Christ through whom are all things and through whom we exist Ephesians 4 and 6 one God and Father of all who is over and through all and all the writer of Hebrews and 2 chapter 2 and 10 says for his fitting that he for whom and by whom all things exist in bringing many sons to Glory should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering God is everything he's our all in all and he does all this to bring himself Glory All Things are from God through God and for God think about if we had that in mind everything that you do was for his glory we love him because he first loved us as we make decisions in our lives well what if we we did it be so that we can bring him glory now we talk about yeah we want to give to charity and support missionaries yes and I believe that we can bring glory to God through our jobs as well we can bring glory to God through our interactions even in the grocery store we can bring glory to God by how we react to somebody cutting us off on 55. in everything that we do we should have our mindset on how we bring glory to him he is a sustainer in the rightful end of everything that exists and because of this our heavenly father is all-powerful and deserves Our Praise he deserves our honor and he's worthy of any Glory brothers and sisters let's glorify him in everything that we do everything so that will require you to think about some of the things that you might do and ask yourself does this bring glory to God any vices that you might have in your life if you drink to drunkenness you consider like how am I bringing glory to God by overserving myself how am I bringing glory to God by cheating on my taxes how do I bring glory to God by being offensive
to people that I talk to even on the internet what if we ask that question with any and everything that we did how do I bring glory to God In This Moment through my actions through my speech through my relationships what would that look like and then as we share Paul's burden for the loss let's pray that he be glorified through their salvation some folks are like well I got mine I know Jesus I'm good but we were called to go and make disciples it's not just my job that's that's all of our jobs to go and make disciples of all Nations baptizing them in the name of the father Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them all the things that he has commanded us like well I'm not an evangelist I don't it's like well don't worry about that I'm with you always even till the end of the age and the Holy Spirit will give you what you need in the moment he's always doing that give you the words to say give you the courage that you need and we just need to trust him so that he might be able to get the glory let's glorify him in worship there's a lot of people are going and sitting in church services like we're doing today and their whole goal is so that they can get something I need to get filled up I need to get a message I I expect the the preacher to tell me good stories and and to make me feel good if you came here for that I I was going to say I apologize but I don't apologize that's not what we're here for we're here to bring glory to God we're here to submit ourselves to Hellman and thank him for all the things that he's done for us all the unimaginable things that he's done we're here to to worship Him not ourselves now as a byproduct of that you might leave feeling good as a byproduct of that you might uh go and know how you should operate in the world and be a better person but first and foremost we're here to recognize who God is and what he's done for us and submit ourselves to him to give him the glory and finally let's let's glorify God as we anxiously wait for Christ's
return you know what Christ walked this Earth you know we read and acts how they they stay together and they expected him to come anytime and they just waited with anxious anticipation I know it's been a long time but we should still be anxiously anticipating this return at any moment any time that he can return and and we can be with him again until then we've got a job to do until then we should like I said be thinking about how we bring glory to him and be telling any and everybody that we can about Jesus Christ and what he's done who he is that's our job and the sooner we get on Mission I believe the sooner that we'll see his return so get busy get busy like oh that's the pastor job I'm gonna bring everybody to you pastors that you can hey I'm not everybody's cup of tea I understand but God has placed you in a specific place for a reason he's surrounded you with people for a reason and so that you can speak truth into their lives you you might be the only Jesus that people see so let's bring glory to him as we anxiously anticipate his return once you bow your heads and close your eyes with men as we close today I want us to really again meditate on the words that Paul lays out for us think about these words consider what that means for you in your life and how you can bring glory to his name oh the depths of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable are his judgments how inscrutable his ways for who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid for from him and through him and to him are all things to be the glory forever amen

there's a saying that the Old Testament is Christ concealed in the New Testament is Christ revealed fitting with that central theme because the Old Testament predicts the coming of of Christ is set the stage for his Incarnation and then the New Testament comes and describes his coming in his world he describes him coming into the world and all the things that he's done to to bring Salvation into the sinful world to praise God for that that was God's plan the entire time and by the way this book isn't about just Jesus as a historical figure right there's no debate these days most Scholars would admit whether they be Christian or not that their their Jesus was a historical person there's there's no denying that these days but this book simply isn't about him being a historical figure he is more than a man and in fact he is God in the flesh again to use that word I don't know any better word than amazing to think about what he's done the fact that he came down from Glory he put on flesh he lived a sinless life and conquered the grave as the most important message known to man there's nothing greater you can't beat that you could try as many headlines as you want to but there's just no greater message than what Jesus Christ done for us John 1 and 14 it says and the word became flesh and dwelt among Among Us and we have seen his glory glorious to the only son from the father full of grace and truth hmm and he did that for you he did that for me says we look at Romans and and think about everything that we've talked about up to this point here in the 11th chapter Paul has been he's been wrestling with this burden that he has for those who were lost in heaven except in Christ they haven't submitted their life to him and he's trying to tell them 60 ways to Thursday that hey this this is what you need to know all the stuff all the rituals all the rules all the stuff doesn't mean anything unless you got Jesus he's like well okay you don't get that let me tell you this way all
right that's not a resume let me tell you this way he he's got a heart he's got a burden for these people to know Christ man I wish we can have that man I wish we would have a love for other people who don't know Christ so much that we would just spend our time just pouring into them so that they can understand and know who Jesus Christ is because nobody else is going to tell them they're they're they're too busy on Netflix and and watching the news and all these other things that they're not going to find Jesus there but God has placed you around them so that you can provide your testimony you can tell them about how good Jesus has been to you you can tell them about the hope that you have and maybe they might listen so like Paul he goes in and he explains the magnificence of God and what he's done and he's just moved by the promises of God so as he's evangelizing as he's he's telling the folks about who God is and what he's done and what how Jesus has has come into to to play as he's telling this he's starting to get moved he's like if you don't get it man I'm getting moved by it because he knows where he came from he knows what God brought him out of and so as he's having a conversation with these folks and evangelizing them it's almost he's getting saved all over again just getting excited because of the love that he sees that God has had for them he is in awe of God in his plan man I wish I wish that for us we take for granted all the freedoms that we have here today that even that we're even able to come into a place and open up the scripture there's parts of the world where people can't do that that you can turn on and jump on YouTube and jump on Facebook and hear somebody preaching God's word not everybody is able to do that not everybody has that kind of access that we tend to take for granted I want us to slow down a little bit today and really think and consider about who God is and what he's done for us I want us to think about how good God is and I
want us to be in awe just like we see with Paul here this morning I want you to listen meditate on God's words here today and I hope that you were sharing his his awe and amazement of God it takes some time to consider and celebrate God's wisdom here in America we move too fast we got too many things going on we gotta punch out our task list or we got to get from one place to another slow down take a minute this morning to meditate on God and who he is take some time to consider and meditate on his wisdom take some time to think about it consider God's sufficiency and we're talking about God as the creator sustainer of all creation and how he is everything look with me Romans 11. 11 and 33 is where we'll start take some time here this morning try to focus your best this morning on these few verses here God's word reads 11-33 says oh the deaths of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways for who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor or who has given the gift to him that he might be repaid for from him and through him and to him are all things to him be the glory forever amen Paul starts by saying we can't even imagine the deaths of God's wisdom and knowledge we simply can't if we could understand the the death and the Breath of God he he wouldn't be any kind of God that's where people get hung up well they they say well I can't understand uh this guy if God is who we say that then I would be able to understand everything would be clear and it'll be easy well then you would be God how would you have the same mind and understanding of death and Breath of God of the universe you don't even understand how gravity works but it's okay how do you think you're going to understand God Paul starts off here in his prayer he says oh the depths of your riches and wisdom and knowledge of God how unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways Paul ends this chapter with a prayer
and he goes with this prayer and starts to praise God for his wisdom and plans but like I said he's he's going through rehearsing and talking about all the things that God has done all the things that Jesus has done and he's just like this is I just can't contain myself anymore even though God's Ways and Means are beyond our own comprehension we know that God is Not arbitrary we know that God is is putting forth his plans there's nothing in this is is by accident he's never caught on his heels he's never surprised by what takes place in the world and he governs the universe and he governs our lives and perfect wisdom and Justice and love he's taking care of it he's got it if he spoke in the universe left into existence I'm sure he can handle you the little problems you have I'm not I'm not trying to diminish your problems but to God they are little oh what am I gonna eat later today how am I going to pay this bill what am I going to do next week how am I going to find this job it's very important absolutely to you you take it to God In Prayer and he makes things happen he is the one ultimately in control he's the one that's got it so you don't have to worry you you don't see the the birds and the squirrels out here worrying about where they gonna get their next food so how much more does he care for you and love you then Paul asks some rhetorical questions as it goes through verse 34 it says who's known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid these rhetorical questions that he's asking and of course the answer is no one not me not you no one through the course of history if we read through the scripture no one none of us could even hope to who knows the mind of the Lord like I just said if you knew everything that was going on with God and his mind then he wouldn't be much of a god I don't know about you but I'm pretty simple and certain things I just don't get but but I know God's got it I I know
God's is working all those things out and if you think you know as much as God hey man I gotta be praying for you because there's too many things even in this world that we don't even understand and Paul goes on to say who's been his counselor who do you think you are I love man Paul comes and he tells a plane like how many times has God come to ask you what he should do in this situation and even if he did you I mean I speak for myself I just mess it up to be honest with you I just I don't know I mean do do this is let's see what happens but but God is not throwing spaghetti against the wall God knows exactly what he's doing and how things should work no one has understood the mind of God no one has been his counselor God doesn't owe anyone anything you've never done God a favor you've never done anything to help him out it amazes me so when we when we think about the Old Testament with with Abram and and Sarah and he tells Abraham Lincoln I'm going to make you a nation of all these people and their Abraham is there to talk about well we don't know what's going to happen we're uh beyond our child bearing years well maybe he means maybe we need to help him immigration let's try this out right now that's that's not what I meant I told you that you both will have children and this is what we're going to do and they're like I don't understand guys you don't you don't know what I mean you know how this child bearing thing works right God didn't need their help got to need their instruction or their input he said this is what my promise is and I'm gonna make it happen and he did and as you continue to read through the scripture Time After Time promise after promise God shows up every single time and he'll do that for you as well Isaiah and Jeremiah asked them similar questions to what Paul asked here just to show that we're unable to give advice to God or criticize his ways Isaiah 40 and 13 it says who has measured the spirit of the Lord or what man has shows him his
