Everybody, Mark here. Thank you so much for joining us for the service. We are in our "Teach Us How to Pray" series, and this is one of my favorite series so far. I think it's just a great reframe to think of prayer not as something that's a formula or something that should be words that are repeated, trying to sound smart or great, but just a conversation and a relationship that we're trying to have with God.
So I've been learning a ton from the series, and we're actually in the podcast studio now, which is really cool because our Menlo midweeks are focused around prayer for this series as well. So tons of fun there. Hopefully, you can tune in during the week as well as enjoy the service that we're about to jump into. So I'll see you right after.
Good morning, everybody! It's so good to see you. To withstand together, if you're comfortable, let's put our hands together, have some fun.
Sing for joy. Sing your word.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet.
We sing about your way.
Your way is the only way for me.
It's an arrow-row and at least alive, but I want to be honest.
An arrow-row, a mercy-swired, because you're good on your promise.
We sing together, take it.
I take you at your word.
You're setting up a leap in.
I see that you're a leap in world.
You're starting your company, man.
I take you at your word.
The song, and the chaos fell in light.
I know, because I've seen it in my life.
An arrow-row, an arrow-row, at least alive, but I want to be honest.
It's an arrow rolled with a tight inside.
Cause you're part of the water.
I'll take you out your way to save it.
I believe in.
I see a good influence.
If you're starting a company, I'll take you out your way to save it.
I believe in.
I see a good influence.
If you're starting a company, I'll take you out your way.
Cause you're good on your promise.
I'll take you out your way to save it.
I said you love, but never give up.
You said your grace is always enough.
You said your heart never forgets all for saving.
You said I'm safe, you call me yours.
You said my future's for love your home.
You never fail, so I know that you'll never fail me.
You said you love, never give up.
You said your grace is always enough.
You said your heart never forgets all for saving.
You said I'm safe, you call me yours.
You said my future's for love your home.
You never fail, so I know that you'll never fail me.
I'll take you out your way to save it.
I believe in.
I see a good influence.
If you're starting your company, I'll take you out your way to save it.
I believe in.
I see a good influence.
If you're starting a company, I'll take you out your way.
I can only promise.
I can only promise.
I'll take you out your way.
Amen, praise the Lord.
Amen, we've gathered here to worship a good God, a God who loves us so much that he would go to a cross and lay down his life for us.
And so we're going to sing about that story of this gospel together, of all the depths of Jesus' love for us.
So would you sing this with me?
How
1. "Prayer is not as something that's a formula or something that should be words that were repeated and trying to sound smart or great, but just a conversation and a relationship that we're trying to have with God." - 00:33
2. "In a time where we are driven to learn about tomorrow and assume today is already taking care of, Jesus frames the lesson of this part of the Lord's Prayer by challenging us to live in light of today. In the pressure of constantly pushing and outsourcing the inconvenient, we can forget that God built today and that tomorrow is never guaranteed for any of us." - 27:25
3. "Our daily needs are an invitation, not an inconvenience. They're a feature, not a bug. God wants you and me to depend on him." - 35:25
4. "God wants to be in a relationship with you and me all the time. He wants us to know his power all the time. He wants us to submit our plans to his plans all the time." - 30:20
5. "We all have daily needs. It's just a matter of how we see them, how we think about them. What are those things that you can thank God for each day, that can give you a reminder that it is not passive, that God is actively providing for your needs every single day?" - 38:47
