Embracing Jesus: Our Source of Strength and Victory

Devotional

Day 1: Total Dependence on Jesus

In life, we often strive for independence, believing that self-reliance is a strength. However, true spiritual maturity is marked by a complete dependence on Jesus, much like a newborn relies on their parents for everything. This dependence is not a sign of weakness but a profound acknowledgment of our need for His guidance and wisdom in every aspect of our lives. By seeking Jesus first and trusting in His timing, we align ourselves with His divine plan, which is always perfect. This requires surrendering our independence and embracing a life of faith, where we trust that Jesus is the ultimate answer to all our challenges. [52:47]

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV)

Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are trying to solve problems on your own? How can you begin to rely more on Jesus in this area today?

Day 2: Embracing Our Identity as Overcomers

As believers, we have been given victory through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Yet, many live beneath this privilege, shackled by the lies of the enemy. The devil often deceives us into believing that we are still in a battle that has already been won. Our challenge is to break free from these lies and embrace our identity as overcomers. By living in the fullness of the victory that Jesus has secured for us, we can experience the freedom and power that comes with being a child of God. This requires a conscious effort to reject the enemy's deceptions and to stand firm in the truth of our victory in Christ. [59:17]

"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." (1 John 5:4, ESV)

Reflection: What lies of the enemy have you believed about your identity? How can you replace these lies with the truth of your victory in Christ today?

Day 3: Understanding Jesus' Dual Nature

Recognizing Jesus as both the Son of Man and the Son of God is crucial for understanding His role in our lives. He is not just a gentle teacher but the powerful Lord who holds the keys to life and death. This duality is essential for a robust faith, as it reminds us that Jesus is sovereign over all things. Our faith should be rooted in this understanding, trusting that His plans are perfect and His timing impeccable, even when our prayers seem unanswered. By acknowledging His dual nature, we can deepen our relationship with Him and trust in His divine authority. [01:11:19]

"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority." (Colossians 2:9-10, ESV)

Reflection: How does recognizing Jesus' dual nature as both human and divine change the way you approach Him in prayer and daily life?

Day 4: The Transformative Power of Testimony

Our testimony is a powerful tool for sharing the gospel and reflecting the transformative work of Christ in our lives. By boldly proclaiming what Jesus has done for us, we allow others to see His power and grace. Sharing our testimony is not just a duty but a privilege, as it can lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. By focusing on the promises of God, we can inspire others to seek the same hope and salvation that we have found in Christ. [01:17:05]

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8, ESV)

Reflection: What specific story from your life can you share with someone this week to demonstrate the transformative power of Jesus?

Day 5: Living with an Eternal Perspective

We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. This means focusing on the promises of God and trusting that even if blessings don't come in this life, they await us in eternity. By prioritizing our relationship with Jesus and His kingdom, we can find peace and purpose beyond the temporary struggles of this world. This eternal perspective helps us to navigate life's challenges with hope and assurance, knowing that our ultimate reward is in heaven. [01:19:19]

"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." (2 Corinthians 4:16-17, ESV)

Reflection: How can you shift your focus from temporary struggles to eternal promises today? What practical steps can you take to live with an eternal perspective?

Sermon Summary

In today's message, we explored the profound truth that Jesus is the ultimate answer to all of life's challenges. We began by acknowledging our deep need for Jesus, recognizing that our dependence on Him should mirror the complete reliance of a newborn on their parents. This dependency is not a sign of weakness but a testament to our faith and trust in His divine plan. We often find ourselves trying to solve problems on our own, only turning to Jesus as a last resort. However, the call is to seek Him first, to trust in His timing, and to surrender our independence for a life of faith.

We delved into the concept of being overcomers through Christ. As believers, we have already been given the victory through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Yet, many of us live beneath this privilege, shackled by the lies of the enemy. The devil, the master of deception, often convinces us that we are still in a battle that has already been won. Our challenge is to break free from these lies and embrace our identity as overcomers, living in the fullness of the victory that Jesus has secured for us.

We also discussed the importance of recognizing Jesus not just as the Son of Man but as the Son of God, full of power and glory. This duality is crucial for understanding His role in our lives. Jesus is not a genie to grant our every wish but the sovereign Lord who holds the keys to life and death. Our faith must be steadfast, even when prayers seem unanswered, trusting that His plans are perfect and His timing impeccable.

Finally, we were reminded of the power of our testimony. Our lives should reflect the transformative work of Christ, and our words should boldly proclaim His lordship. Sharing our testimony is not just a duty but a privilege, as it can lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains.

Key Takeaways
  • 1. Dependence on Jesus: Just as a newborn is entirely dependent on their parents, we must learn to rely wholly on Jesus. This dependence is a sign of faith, acknowledging that we don't have all the answers and need His guidance in every aspect of our lives. [52:47]
  • 2. Living as Overcomers: As believers, we have already overcome through Christ's victory on the cross. However, we often live beneath this privilege, believing the enemy's lies. We must embrace our identity as overcomers and live in the fullness of this truth. [59:17]
  • 3. Recognizing Jesus' Dual Nature: Understanding Jesus as both the Son of Man and the Son of God is crucial. He is not just a gentle teacher but the powerful Lord who holds the keys to life and death. Our faith should be rooted in this duality, trusting His sovereignty. [71:19]
  • 4. The Power of Testimony: Our testimony is a powerful tool for sharing the gospel. We must boldly proclaim what Jesus has done in our lives, allowing others to see His transformative power. This is not just a duty but a privilege that can lead others to salvation. [77:05]
  • 5. Eternal Perspective: We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. Our focus should be on the promises of God, trusting that even if blessings don't come in this life, they await us in eternity. [01:19:19]

These babies are so small and so helpless. They don't even know what. They don't know what they need. They don't know how to survive. They don't know how to do anything. They are 100 % dependent. And while I'm sitting there, I feel a conviction. The Lord's like, do you, are you dependent on me like that? Are you willing to submit yourself and just lay up under me knowing that you don't even know what you need? [00:52:35] (25 seconds)

Number one, the cross has to be my identifying source. It has to be my identifying source. When people look at me, they need to see Jesus. If they look at me and they see a coach and they see an educator, then I have failed in representing Christ. [01:16:29] (27 seconds)

Why is it not just enough to say God is because God has given the power to Jesus. He says, at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. At the name of Jesus, every tongue shall confess that he is Lord to the glory of God the Father. See, you don't want to be the first time that you confess Christ to be on that. You don't want to be the first time that your knee hits the ground to confess that he's Lord on that day because it's too late. [01:18:14] (27 seconds)

All right. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Leron Gordon, and I love this church. I love being a member of this church. I love being a part of this community. There is something that you can be in a place, and you know that the presence of the Lord is here.

Before we get started, please stand on your feet. I don't know about you, but I need Jesus. You know, I need him today. It's something that when the Lord has given you something to share, he puts it on your heart that this is something that I need to work out in my life first before I'm able to come and share it with you.

I asked my auntie to come and just share a quick word for us as we get going. Thank you, Father. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Thank you for your grace and thank you for your mercy. See, sometimes we just wait too long. All we need to do is call on the name of Jesus for the answer.

Today, I'm here to tell you that Jesus is the answer. Go on and take your seats. Thank you, Father. God is good. Thank you, Jesus. I love this church where you can just come and call on the name of the Lord with other saints. It's something about being here.

Before we get started, I don't know if you can feel the presence of the Lord here right now. I want to give honor to my friend, Angela Lettison-Wirschel. Let's give it up for the worship team. What an amazing job that they did. And she's been here before, but I saw her name and I said, no, that couldn't be my friend. I've known Angela for over 30 years.

It is something when I saw her; we went to school together in middle school. It was a Christian school. And as you know, in Christian school, no one is paying attention to chapel. But I remember she got up there, and I don't think anyone knew that she could sing at the time. She got up there and she played.

It's one thing when you have talent, but when you have the anointing on top of that talent that God has truly blessed you with. So thank you so much, my friend, for being here and blessing us today.

When pastor texts me that he asked me to preach, I knew it was going to happen. I say this every time. It never, ever, ever fails. It's like I feel something in my spirit, and I'm like, Lord Jesus, I'm too tired. And it's an honor to be able to preach. I think I've preached five times in the last seven days. And I'm not going to lie, I'm tired. Right?

But I knew, pastor said, when he said, I said, the Lord wants me to be up here. The Lord has something he needs to deal with me. And so that's the issue. It's not being up here. It's like, Lord, okay, I know I done messed up. It's something that he is dealing with me that I need to get right in my life as well.

I am honored to be friends with Pastor Kenan. He is my pastor and our shepherd, but he's also my friend. And I love being friends with him. We're able to talk and be able to pray with each other.

I remember the last time I spoke, I was in the grocery store. And I'm walking up and down the aisle, and I could tell that this lady is like staring at me. It's almost like she's following me. And I go to the next aisle; she's following me and following me. I'm like, this weird lady.

And so it was one of those things where she recognized me, but she didn't know where she recognized me from. And so she just came up to me and said, did you preach at Limitless? And I said, yeah, I did. And so she just went on and on about how amazing the message was. And I'm feeling good about myself. I'm like, Lord, thank you for this opportunity to bless.

And then her friend came, and she was like, hey, this is the Pastor Kenan that I was talking to you about. I'm like, now, I know. We do not look alike. And she said, is Pastor Kenan going to preach next Sunday? I said, I'm pretty sure Pastor Kenan is going to preach next Sunday.

You know, I say that jokingly, but my father always used to say that birds of a feather flock together. And so if people identify me with him, I'm in good company, and I feel all right.

I love these baby dedications. It is a reminder of my need for Jesus. These babies are so small and so helpless. They don't even know what they need. They don't know how to survive. They don't know how to do anything. They are 100% dependent.

And while I'm sitting there, I feel a conviction. The Lord's like, are you dependent on me like that? Are you willing to submit yourself and just lay up under me knowing that you don't even know what you need? And in my heart, I have to say no. Because I like to hold on to stuff. You know, I feel good when I do stuff.

I'm reminded of my need for Jesus in every moment of my life, every step and every breath that I take, I need it. As I was preparing last night, I prayed. I said, God, as I usually do, please just prepare my heart and remove any distraction. Remove it from my mind, from my heart. If there's anything that is not like you, shine heaven's spotlight on it so I can remove it.

And I go to sleep. And I wake up about 4:30 in the morning to my eight-year-old throwing up. I'm like, Lord, this is not what I meant. This is a distraction. About a half an hour later, his twin brothers in the other bathroom throwing up. My wife and I were trying to console them. She's with one; I'm with the other one. They're crying.

And I lay down. All of a sudden, my stomach starts acting up. And I'm like, Lord, I don't know how I'm going to be here today. I really, it's God's grace that I'm standing here in the prayers of the saints. I'm here right now. But as my twins are in this pain and this discomfort and this challenge, they're like, daddy, just take it away. Just, just, just take it away. It hurts too much. It's too hard. It's too challenging.

And I tell him, I promise you, this is not going to last forever. This is not your final destination. And the Lord's like, do you answer me when I tell you that this is not your destination? Regardless of what the challenge that you are going through, regardless of what your situation is.

Do you trust me like that? That when you cry out to me, you know I'm going to answer. It may not be when you want it, but I'm always on time. Do you trust him like that?

I believe sometimes we misunderstand what our purpose is. Our purpose is to be here to surrender our lives. To surrender our lives to Christ. This world celebrates independence. It celebrates me being able to do it myself so I could proclaim that I didn't need anybody's help. I did it all on my own. I'm successful because of me.

But when you recognize who Jesus is and what he did for us, you understand that there is nothing that you have accomplished without him. We see it in society. Marriages are at a 50-year low. People are not getting married. And when you ask these people who they survey, they said, if I get married, I'm going to have to give up my independence.

I'm going to have to share all that I've gathered myself with someone else. They have not earned this. I went to school for too long to get my degree and to get this salary, and now I have to share it with someone. The selfishness.

But I think sometimes we all have this do-it-ourselves attitude. It seems like when things are going wrong, we try to fix it ourselves. And when things are going wrong, we try to fix it ourselves. And when things are going wrong, we call Jesus after we have exhausted all the possibilities. After we realize that we can't do it on our own.

Jesus is saying, if you would just learn to call on me first. As soon as the problems come, call on me first. Don't try to figure it out yourself. The consequences of people not getting married, that there's less babies. The birth rates are at an all-time low. Every single year, they're going down small percentages. But enough that we see a difference.

And the same people said, we don't want to have kids because kids are hard. They're challenging. They take up too much time. They do take up a lot of time. And it costs a lot of money.

I need to understand who Jesus is and what he did. The name of Jesus is so important. See, there's a lot of people who believe in God. I ask people all the time to tell me about their relationship with Jesus. And they say, I believe in God. I know who God is. That's not what I asked you. I said, who is Jesus to you?

In our society, in America, over 91% of people believe in some sort of God, but less than 50% believe that Jesus is his son. See, there's something different. It's easy to say that I believe in God. And we have this perception that God is out in the atmosphere somewhere, untouchable.

But when you have to recognize who Jesus is, that's a personal relationship that you have. You have to recognize that you are a sinner in need of a savior. There's something about that that says that I need Jesus. That means that now you are held accountable to that.

And people are not willing to do that because when I recognize who Jesus is, I have to give up my independence. And that's challenging. And that's hard. But when we recognize who Jesus is, it's easy to give up self. When we recognize what he has done for us on the cross, it is easy to give up self.

Today, I just want to spend a few moments talking about Jesus, the overcomer. If you can open up your Bibles to 1 John 5. This is John writing to the seven churches. You have to spend a few moments coming to God repairing what's wrong if there are things that are not right for you or the things that you think are wrong.

What if God does something? What if God does something? Is this why we're here? What is God doing that makes us feel somewhat kind of changed? Choices.

So, even if you are asking God to help, where does God come from? Fought the war on the guy was born? Was Christ baptized in his right hand? Chose him to look like Jesus because you can have the world of faith. And who is that who has overcome the world? The one who believes that Jesus is the son of God.

Now it doesn't get more powerful than that. Those of us who have accepted Christ, John says that we have overcome already. It is a birthright. That is a privilege that comes with accepting Jesus. The problem is that there is a disconnect because sometimes we have forgotten our birthright and we are living beneath that privilege.

We have the ability to overcome, and we are doing it, but sometimes life circumstances get in the way. Sometimes our circumstances say that we are overwhelmed and we're stressed and we're too worried about what tomorrow is going to bring that we forget who our savior is.

We have to understand that we are more than overcomers. I hear it time and time again that we have not accepted everything that comes with that privilege of being saved. The devil has us in bondage. The lies, the Bible says that he is the father of lies. That means that he is the creator of them.

That means that he is the master of lies. You ever been around a person and tell a lie so good it causes you to question it? That sounded pretty good. I know it's not real, but that sounded too good. You ever been around people who lie so much they believe they actually telling the truth? That's who the devil is.

The lies that he tells against us and those accusations that he brings against us are nothing but lies, but they sound so good we believe them. And we fall into that trap of bondage. John is talking to Christians, and he's saying that some of them have been given that gift, but not everyone is living in that gift.

If you have your Bibles, open up to Revelations. And he says to those who have overcome, to those who have overcome. See, there is a difference when he says you are an overcomer to those who have overcome. John is in the church just like this, and he's speaking, and everyone in the church is saved; everyone has accepted.

See, Jesus has died; he is resurrected; he has gone on back to heaven, and he is talking to the Christians, and he's saying there are some of you who are not living in that overcome privilege. Before my wife and I got married, we went to a marriage seminar. We wanted to get a jump start on our marriage.

And so one of the couples that were there, they'd been married for like 70 years, and they got up and they said, you can be married and unhappy. You can be married and unhappy. It doesn't mean that you're not married; it just means that you are unhappily married.

You can be saved and accept Christ and not be an overcomer. You can be saved, spirit-filled, and not living your life as an overcomer. Why? Because we believe the lies that the devil has told us. Today we want to break free of that bondage.

Today we want to stop believing those lies. So overcome means to prevail, to win, to be victorious of a cause during a particular difficult and challenging circumstance. So if something is holding you hostage, and the things that hold us hostage, unfortunately, the number one reason is sin.

It's our own sin, mistakes that we have made. Unfortunately, because we live in this fallen world, we have to suffer the consequences of other people's sin, and sometimes they're just life circumstances that are outside of our control. But just because it's outside of our control doesn't mean that the Lord wants us to live in those bondages.

He wants us to be able to break free. In order to take advantage of the authority that has been given to us by the Lord, we have to suffer the consequences of other people's sin that has been given to us. We have to be able to see Jesus differently, maybe differently than we have ever seen him before.

Sometimes we have this misconception of who Jesus is, that we can just pray and he'll answer as soon as we call him. That he, pastor said last week, is like a genie. My kids love Aladdin; that's one of their favorite movies. And you see every time they just touch it, here I am, here I am, what do you need?

And sometimes we have transferred that over to our relationship with Jesus. Lord, I know you hear me praying. Lord, I've been praying for a long time. It's about time that you come on down and do what I need you to do. And we pray, and he doesn't answer, and all of a sudden we got an attitude.

Lord, you know I'm serving. Lord, I've been faithful with my tithes. I need that increase. I'm not the only one. Now I know sometimes we be putting that in, and we expect that monetary return, and then when it doesn't happen that way, we got an attitude. And next Sunday, like nah, I'm going to keep that in my pocket.

Can we remain faithful when you've been praying? You've been on your knees, and the answer hasn't come as quickly. Are you going to remain faithful when you've been praying for your spouse to come to church, and they haven't yet? Are you going to remain faithful when your children are out in the world, and you've been praying for them to come back?

Are you still going to remain faithful when you've been praying healing in your body when you got that diagnosis and the doctor said it's not looking good? Are you still going to remain faithful? See, John says we have overcome. That means that it already has been won.

See, some of you have been praying for your spouse to come to church, and sometimes the devil is convincing us that we're still in the battle. When Jesus died on the cross, it was complete, and it was done already, over. But the devil is like, I know the battle has been won, but if I can convince the saints that we're still at war, then I can distract them.

If I can convince them that they are still battling for freedom, then I can keep them out of God's word. I can keep them distracted. I can keep them frustrated. I can keep them out of church, and ultimately what he wants to do is separate us.

Life is hard. I know some of your stories. I know what you're going through. I know what you've been praying for. And in order for us to be an overcomer, we have to look at our situation and say nevertheless.

Nevertheless, Lord, I'm reminded of the Hebrew boys. That's one of my favorite stories when they were faced with the fiery furnace, and they stood up to the king and said, we firmly believe that the Lord is going to come, but if it's not his will, nevertheless, we're going to worship the one true king.

They didn't know that Jesus was going to jump in and save them, but they had the belief. But they said even if it doesn't come. Some of us have been praying for so long. I know for myself I've had this back pain for three years, and I've been praying for so long.

I've been praying for so long. I've been praying for 30 years, and every day I get on my knees, and I'm claiming the victory, and I'm expecting a miracle. But nevertheless, I know people have gotten diagnoses lately that it doesn't look good. And we're praying for healing, praying for that cancer diagnosis to go away.

Can you resolve in yourself that if you don't receive that miracle on this side of heaven, that it's okay? Because I know where I'm going. And I know where my hope is. We need to be overcomers. It has nothing to do with our circumstance.

I've been in education for 25 years. It's hard to believe. It's more than half my life almost. I've been an educator, coach, mentor. I learned from my students. One of the things that I've learned is the importance of a hoodie. To these kids, the hoodie is like life. It's everything.

But sometimes I think they misunderstand what the importance of a hoodie is, what the hoodie is for. For those of you who don't know, the hoodie is a sweatshirt with a hood on it. It's meant to be worn when it's cold outside.

First day of school. It's August. It's 115 degrees outside. Kids got the hoodie on. They got the hood on. They got it tied underneath the chin, sweating. I'm like, you've got to be hot. They're like, yeah, I'm hot, but it looks good.

They're so concerned about other people's opinion, and they're struggling. It's wintertime now. It's not a hoodie to be found. These kids are popping out the car with t-shirts on. It's 32 degrees. It's raining. Or they got the sweatshirt on, and they ain't got the hoodie on because they're worried about it's going to mess up their hair.

They're worried about the perception. See, the Lord is saying, I've given you protection. All you got to do is use it. I've given you the word to apply to your life, but you got to use it in the appropriate way.

When I'm cold, I'm getting old. I got my gloves on. I got my hoodie on. I got a beanie on. I got the hood on top. I got a coat because I want to be protected. When I'm facing challenges, I got to dive deep in the word because I know where my protection is.

I want to be covered from head to toe. I got to put that armor of salvation on. Are you girded up? Are you ready? Sometimes we want God to put the blessing right in our hand. We don't want to reach for it.

We're like, Lord, I need this miracle, but just going to put it close. The Lord has given us tools to go out and grab it. He's given us everything that we need. But sometimes we give up because sometimes it requires just that first step of faith.

And the Lord said, I'll meet you on the other side. Will you step out in faith to be an overcomer? Because sometimes we don't know what the outcome is going to be. We have this perception. That's that control of that independence.

When I do it myself, when I do it myself, all I do is mess it up. Sometimes you ever shop at Ikea, you get these instructions. It's not in English, and they're not complete. And they don't tell you where all the pieces are, and I put stuff together, and it's all kind of bolts and nuts and stuff laying around. I know they should have went somewhere.

But when you have the instructions, and it tells you every single thing that you need to do, and you look around, and it's complete in its whole because God doesn't do anything halfway. He who began a work will see it to completion. Can you trust him?

We have to start seeing Jesus in a new light. I think sometimes we forget that he's also the son of God, but we look at him as the son of man only. We have to understand that he's both of those things.

He came as the son of man, but don't forget that he's also the son of God, full of power and glory. We have to remember that. We have to be able to see him. If you open up your Bibles to Revelations, Revelations 1 starting at verse 12.

This is a vision that he has. Then I turn to see the voice that was speaking to me. And on turning, I saw seven golden lampstands. In the midst of the lampstands, I saw a man like the son of man, clothed in a long robe with a golden sash around his neck, and the hairs of his head were white like white wool, like snow.

And his eyes were like a flame of fire, and his feet were burnished bronze, refined by a furnace. And his voice was so powerful, like the roar of many waters. And in his right hand held the seven stars. And from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face shone like the sun shining in full strength.

And when I saw him, I fell down as though I was dead. And he laid his hand and said, fear not. I am the first and the last. I am the living one. I died, and behold, I am alive forever. And I have the keys of death and hell.

This is the Jesus I want to start identifying with. The risen Lord who ascended. Who was astronauts at the end with his mission. My strength is in God. The key, when the time comes, where are they? Places. His bond is a place, a would. And a state. Eschew the grave, there it is.

I think sometimes we're looking at Jesus when he came as a servant. He's quiet, sits around telling stories, healing people. He's quiet; he doesn't stick up for himself at the end. This is who Jesus is, but he's also a lion. He's the lion and the lamb, and he deserves all the praise and honor and glory.

But sometimes we forget that. We forget that all power to heaven is given to him. He has the keys to death. That means nothing happens without his approval. That he can lock it up and open it up if he wants to. And when the doctor said it's the end, he can lock it up and say not today.

Can you stand on those promises? We have already overcome, but can you learn to walk in it day by day when it's hard and it's challenging? Can we remember that we are more than overcomers? And the devil will never come to our aid, and we can't go back to that place where we used to be.

Sometimes that fear grips us, and the lies that the devil tells, we start to believe, and we're held in that bondage. I heard a story told of a man who went to a convenience store, and it was being robbed while he was in there. And the robbers came in, and they started entering the registers, and they started robbing the customers that were in there as well.

And the man noticed that the gun wasn't real. And in his mind, he knew that the gun wasn't real. He knew, obviously, the bullets weren't going to be real. And he realized that he wasn't going to be hurt. But the fear of what could happen.

See, fear is not based in reality. It is what could happen. And sometimes we're more concerned about what could happen than the actual reality. I pray that I'm never in that situation. But if I'm in a store and I realize that the robber's gun's not real, best believe I'm going to take this preacher coat off, and we're going to have some issues.

See, sometimes the devil is pointing this fake ammunition at you, telling you to stick them up. But the blood of Jesus is telling you, you've been vindicated and set free. And everything that you have done, I've wiped it white as snow.

We are more than overcomers. Today, I resolve not to allow fear to grip me. I'm not going to worry about tomorrow. Because my reality is my Jesus lives. And the reality of what happened on the cross. And I'm going to stand firm on that foundation regardless of what the enemy tries to say.

I resolve today to be an overcomer. And I ask the worship team to come. I want to leave with you just three short steps of being an overcomer found in Revelations 12, verse 11.

And they conquered him, meaning the devil, by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. For they loved not their lives even unto death.

Number one, the cross has to be my identifying source. It has to be my identifying source. When people look at me, they need to see Jesus. If they look at me and they see a coach and they see an educator, then I have failed in representing Christ.

They need to see him in me. And everything that I say and do is representative of what Jesus did for me on the cross.

Number two, they became overcomers by the word of their testimony. What we're doing right here, this is like a private meeting. Pastor Kenan, most days, he gives us a word to go out and share with the world.

Do only saved folks know you're saved? What about your unsaved family? Your unsaved friends? Your co-workers? Because they need to hear Jesus. And the only way they might is through your testimony.

I can't be quiet about what Jesus has done. He's brought me from too far and has done too much for me to be quiet. I have to tell everyone. It's more than I believe in God. It's more than I pray to God. I have to say Jesus is my Lord and Savior.

I'm a sinner who has fallen short, but let me tell you what he's done for me. That's the testimony. Why is it not just enough to say God is? Because God has given the power to Jesus.

By the time I get to heaven, I didn't have a lot of practice. I've been confessing him my whole life. When it's hard, I still confess him. When it's challenging, I still say he's Lord and Savior over my life. It can't be on that last day.

Share your testimony with people. And lastly, they loved not their own lives, even unto death. When was the last time you dreamed about heaven? When was the last time you pictured what that crown was going to look like? No streets of gold.

I'm thinking about what my mansion is going to look like. The Bible says he is preparing a place. And where I go, there are many mansions. That means there's one for me, and there's one for you.

I don't want to be so consumed with this world. See, it's like I want my blessings now here. Like I want it all now here. And there's nothing wrong. I'm praying for prosperity. I'm praying for health and success. But if it doesn't come, I know that it's coming on the other side.

And I'm holding strong to those promises. Today, we are more than overcomers. More than overcomers. But will you live it? Will you claim the victory in every single aspect of your life, regardless of what it looks like?

Life is hard. Some of the challenges that we are going through are real tragedy, heartbreak, hurt. But God is saying I have overcome the world, and I will bring you peace. Jesus is saying that is all we need is peace.

Lord, if the blessings come and it takes me away from you, I don't want it. If the riches come and it drives me away from you, I don't want it. Even if the healing comes but it drives me away, I don't want it.

Jesus says all you need is my peace that surpasses all understanding. I stand firm on that today, and I hope you do too. Amen and amen and amen.

Subject: Embracing Jesus: Our Source of Strength and Victory

Dear Limitless Life T.V.,

Reflecting on our message, I am reminded of the profound truth that Jesus is the ultimate answer to all of life's challenges. In our sermon, we explored the necessity of depending on Jesus, much like a newborn relies on their parents. This dependence is not a weakness but a testament to our faith and trust in His divine plan. We also discussed our identity as overcomers through Christ's victory on the cross, the importance of recognizing Jesus' dual nature, and the power of our testimony in sharing the gospel.

As we continue to walk in faith, let us embrace our identity as overcomers, living in the fullness of the victory that Jesus has secured for us. May we boldly share our testimonies, allowing others to witness the transformative power of Christ in our lives. Let us keep our eyes fixed on our heavenly inheritance, trusting in God's perfect timing and eternal promises.

Blessings,
Limitless Life T.V. Team
