Becoming Vessels of Glory for God's Purpose

Devotional

Day 1: Willingness Over Perfection

God values our willingness to be used over our perfection.

God is not looking for perfect vessels; rather, He seeks those who are willing and yielded to His purpose. The Hebrew word "keli" for vessel emphasizes that our worth is not in our appearance but in our capacity to carry what God places within us. This requires a heart of surrender and a willingness to be used for His purpose. It is through our willingness that we become vessels of honor, ready to carry His glory and impact the world around us. [02:35]

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (ESV): "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed."

Reflection: What is one area of your life where you feel inadequate or imperfect? How can you offer this area to God, trusting Him to use you despite your imperfections?

Day 2: Embrace the Potter's Process

Life's challenges shape us into vessels ready for God's glory.

The journey of becoming a vessel of honor is akin to clay in the hands of a potter. Life's circumstances, like the potter's wheel, mold us through various seasons, some challenging and others transformative. It is in these moments of stretching and refining that God shapes us for His purpose. Embrace the process, trusting that God sees our potential and destiny even when we cannot. The trials we face are not meant to destroy us but to prepare us for a new season of His glory. [07:24]

Isaiah 64:8 (ESV): "But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand."

Reflection: Think of a recent challenge you faced. How might God be using this experience to shape you for His purpose?

Day 3: Cleansing, Filling, and Positioning

Aligning with God prepares us to overflow with His anointing.

Preparation as a vessel of honor involves cleansing through repentance, being filled with the Spirit, and positioning ourselves in obedience. Cleansing requires us to align with God's word, while filling is about being filled with the Spirit to overflow with His anointing. Positioning ourselves in obedience, like Isaiah's response, "Here I am, send me," opens the door for God's glory to manifest through us. This alignment with God allows us to be used mightily for His kingdom. [13:05]

Ephesians 5:18-20 (ESV): "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Reflection: What steps can you take today to align yourself more closely with God's word and be filled with His Spirit?

Day 4: Walking in Divine Authority

Obedience to God empowers us to manifest His power.

As vessels of honor, we carry divine authority to bring healing, deliverance, and miracles. Our authority flows from obedience to God, and we must walk in purity and humility to manifest His power. This divine authority is not for our own glory but to bring glory to God and to serve those around us. By walking in obedience, we become instruments of His love and power, ready to impact the world for His kingdom. [23:39]

Luke 10:19-20 (ESV): "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Reflection: In what ways can you walk in greater obedience to God today, allowing His authority to flow through you?

Day 5: Responding to the World's Cry

We are called to stand in the gap and manifest God's power.

The world is crying out for vessels who will carry God's glory. We are called to stand in the gap, intercede, and manifest His power. As we yield to the Master, we become instruments of His love and power, ready to impact the world for His kingdom. Let us boldly step into this call, trusting that God is refining us for a greater purpose. By responding to the world's cry, we fulfill our role as vessels of honor, bringing healing, deliverance, and miracles to those around us. [34:06]

Ezekiel 22:30 (ESV): "And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none."

Reflection: Who in your life is in need of God's love and power? How can you stand in the gap for them today through prayer and action?

Sermon Summary

In tonight's message, we explored the profound concept of being vessels of glory, prepared for the Master's use. Drawing from 2 Timothy 2:20-21, we delved into the idea that God is not seeking perfect vessels, but rather those who are willing and yielded. The Hebrew word for vessel, "keli," signifies a container or instrument, emphasizing that our value is not in our appearance but in our capacity to carry what God places within us. This journey of becoming a vessel of honor involves a process akin to clay in the hands of a potter, where we are shaped, refined, and prepared for every good work.

The process begins with a touch from the Potter, who sees our potential and destiny even when we cannot. Life's circumstances, like the potter's wheel, mold us through various seasons, some challenging and others transformative. It is in these moments of stretching and refining that God shapes us for His purpose. After shaping comes the fire, the trials that strengthen and solidify us, bringing forth the gold of godliness. These trials are not meant to destroy but to prepare us for a new season of His glory.

Preparation requires cleansing, filling, and positioning. Cleansing involves repentance and alignment with God's word, while filling is about being filled with the Spirit to overflow with His anointing. Positioning ourselves in obedience, like Isaiah's response, "Here I am, send me," opens the door for God's glory to manifest through us. As vessels of honor, we carry divine authority, enabling us to bring healing, deliverance, and miracles to those around us.

The world is crying out for vessels who will carry His glory, who will stand in the gap, intercede, and manifest the power of God. As we yield to the Master, we become instruments of His love and power, ready to impact the world for His kingdom. Let us embrace this call, trusting that God is refining us for a greater purpose, and boldly step into the fullness of His glory.

Key Takeaways

  • 2. The Potter's Process: Like clay in the potter's hands, we are shaped and refined through life's circumstances. These spinning seasons mold us into vessels of honorable use, ready for God's glory. Embrace the process, trusting that God sees our potential and destiny. [07:24]
  • 3. Cleansing, Filling, and Positioning: Preparation involves cleansing through repentance, being filled with the Spirit, and positioning ourselves in obedience. This alignment with God allows us to overflow with His anointing and be used mightily for His kingdom. [13:05]
  • 4. Divine Authority and Miracles: As vessels of honor, we carry divine authority to bring healing, deliverance, and miracles. Our authority flows from obedience to God, and we must walk in purity and humility to manifest His power. [23:39]
  • 5. Responding to the World's Cry: The world is crying out for vessels who will carry God's glory. We are called to stand in the gap, intercede, and manifest His power. Let us boldly step into this call, trusting that God is refining us for a greater purpose. [34:06]

So I've entitled this sermon tonight "The Vessels of Glory: Preparing for the Master's Use." Amen?

If you would, just for a moment, would you stand as I read the scripture from 2 Timothy 2, verses 20 to 21? I will make reference to other verses here tonight, but we'll just stand for this one. Hallelujah!

2 Timothy 2:20-21: "Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work." Hallelujah! You may be seated.

So let me introduce tonight this question: What does it mean to be a vessel? Can you say that out loud? What does it mean to be a vessel?

Well, the Hebrew word for vessel is "keli." Did you guys get that in the back? The Hebrew word for vessel is "keli," which means container, implement, or instrument. Value is not determined by its appearance, but by its ability to carry what has been placed in it. Amen?

So God is looking for vessels, not perfect ones, but willing and yielded ones. Catherine Coleman once said this: "God is not looking for golden vessels or silver vessels. He is looking for yielded vessels." Hallelujah!

Well, saints of God, that is where we find ourselves tonight. We are at the intersection of surrender and purpose. Hallelujah!

When I looked at this Hebrew definition of "keli," I learned that it's derived from the root verb "kala," meaning to complete or finish. Now listen, there's a revelation in this word: to complete or finish. Could it be that God is wanting to equip us as something prepared to finish the work that He has called us to?

Another definition is weapon or tool. Is it possible that God makes us into a vessel set apart as holy so that we can be a weapon in His hands? Not a weapon of destruction or dishonor, but a weapon for His honorable use to do the work of the Father. Glory!

Since one of the definitions is instrument, it makes sense that God is looking for vessels— instruments of worship, honorable, pure, and yielded. It's just something to think about here tonight. Amen?

So there is a process of being made into a vessel. Being used of God is not just instantaneous; it's a process. Amen? Like clay in the hands of a potter, we are shaped, refined, and prepared.

Let me read from Jeremiah 18, verses 1 through 6. It says, "The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 'Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will let you hear my words.' So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand, and he reworked it into another vessel as it seemed good to the potter to do."

Verse 5: "And the word of the Lord came to me: 'O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done?' declares the Lord. 'Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O Israel.'" Hallelujah!

Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand. It was amazing this morning; we just heard a word preached on that very verse this morning by Apostle Giles, and I know the Lord is speaking because I had already prepared this. Hallelujah!

But we look at the potter's hands. Listen, the process begins with a touch from the potter Himself. Amen? He sees our potential, He sees our destiny, He sees that thing that He has placed upon us. Amen? Even when we cannot see it. Sometimes we can't see it. Sometimes God brings people into our lives to help us see that in them. Amen?

But many times, if we stay with Him long enough, if we stay in that secret place, if we seek Him, God will reveal to us that potential that He sees in us. Amen? What He has called us to do.

So that place, that wheel of transformation, you see, the wheel represents the circumstances of life. There are many, there are hundreds, there are thousands of things that take place in our lives—some good, some bad. But it's those spinning seasons, like a wheel, amen? Those spinning seasons where you feel stretched, or you feel cold, or you feel depressed. Maybe you feel like you are in that in-between stage, amen? That place of what was and that place of what is to come.

But it's in that in-between stage where the Lord wants to mold us. He wants to bring us into a vessel of honorable use that He can use for His glory. Hallelujah!

Maybe it's been a challenging road. Maybe it's been so challenging that you can't even see the light at the end of the tunnel. But let me tell you, God is there. He is there in the midst of that because He promises He is.

It is here that God shapes you and me for His purpose. Amen? And all we need to do is yield. We just need to yield. We just need to lean into it. Look, God is saying, amen? We need to lean into His word. We need to lean into His voice. Lean into Him so that we can hear Him clearly. Praise God!

So what about the kiln? What about that place of fire? After the shaping comes the fire, amen? The trials that strengthen and solidify you and me. Amen?

Evan Roberts once said, "It is the fire of suffering that brings forth the gold of godliness."

So is anybody in here suffering? Anybody?

Has anyone here experienced the pain of the past, but knowing that God is going to use it as an avenue to ministry? Amen?

Has anyone experienced times of dissatisfaction in your relationships? But you know deep down inside that when God touches that unhealed place, He will bring about a transformation. Hallelujah!

That you won't even remember the hardship the same way. It won't sting. It won't torment you. It won't weigh you down. Amen?

Hallelujah! When God puts His finger on something, when God puts His finger on us, when we experience His presence and His glory, when we experience the wind of His Spirit, amen, it can bring a complete transformation.

Maybe it's a one-time thing that you're thinking, "Oh, this is only going to be one time. I'll never experience it again." No! If you go into His presence, if you worship Him, if you seek after Him, God is going to reveal those hidden treasures in secret places, in those dark places. Hallelujah!

It would just cause you, I believe, to take a quantum leap in the Spirit, being thrust into your next season. Amen? It's a blessing to do the work of the Lord. Praise God for that! Amen!

So just as vessels were prepared for specific uses in the temple, God is preparing you and I for a new season of His glory. If you believe that, hear a hearty amen!

Preparing you and I for this new season, but preparation requires some things. Amen? Preparation requires cleansing. Psalm 51:10, what does it say? How many of you know that verse by heart? Psalm 51:10. Maybe you don't know the reference, but it says this: "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."

Everybody say Psalm 51:10. Let's put that to memory tonight. Amen? Let's say it again: "Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me."

There's another version that says "steadfast spirit." Renew a right spirit within me. All right, let that be your prayer. Amen?

So cleansing involves repentance and alignment with God's word. Amen? You cannot pour new wine into old wine skins, amen, because they're cracked, right? It won't work. Matthew 9:17.

So it requires a cleansing. But not only does it require a cleansing, it requires a filling. Say, "Lord, fill me!"

A vessel must be filled before it can overflow. Amen?

See, the Lord reminded me of this. I have a few different coffee cups in my cupboard, all right? So I have the Keurig where I put the cup there, right? And I fix myself a cup of coffee. But there are a couple of cups that I have that just don't hold the full amount of the 12 ounces that I do. So I forget sometimes.

So I'll put that there, and then it'll fill up, and then all of a sudden, it's overflowing. It's overflowing, so I'm going to have to clean it all up.

So a vessel must be filled, okay? Your cup must be filled before it can overflow. Overflow!

And I don't know about you, but I want to live in the overflow. I want to be full. I want to be filled. Amen?

And I'm not saying it's harder to clean up or anything, so don't make that correlation now, okay? All right. Thank you, Jesus!

Hallelujah! Ephesians 5:18 instructs us to be filled with the Spirit. So the anointing flows. Flows, as we have learned over the years, all of us, I'm sure, that the anointing flows when we're willing to surrender.

So where there's surrender, the anointing flows. Amen?

I bet every one of us can think of a moment. Oh, yeah! Think of the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7. As long as there were empty vessels, what happened? The oil kept flowing.

As long as there were empty vessels, the oil kept flowing. So we need to empty ourselves. Amen? So that God can fill us over and over and over with His oil.

So God's supply, frankly, is only limited by our capacity to receive.

So oftentimes, I'll ask God, "God, increase my capacity because I want to receive more of You. I want to know You more." Increase our capacity. That should be our prayer.

Not only cleansing, not only filling, amen, to prepare us to be those vessels of honor, but positioning. Amen? Amen? Say "positioning."

See, do you guys know what Isaiah 6:8 says? Do you remember that verse, the reference to that? "Here I am, Lord. What? Send me."

Positioning. Have we positioned ourselves to God and said, "Lord, here I am, send me. Let me do Your work. Let me operate in Your glory. Let me move in Your Spirit. Let me walk in Your Spirit. Let me bring healing to Your people. Let me bring deliverance to Your people. Amen?

Let me release the word of God that will bring salvation to Your people, to the nations of this world. Amen? May God open the door.

This night, I prophetically speak in Jesus' mighty name that God opens the door for salvation. Hallelujah! Some of you just missed it just now. Thank you, Jesus!

Positioning us. Positioning us in obedience. Hallelujah!

Father, that You would reveal Your glory in the coming days. Father God, position us. Position us, God. Let us say with all earnestness, "Father God, here I am. Use me, Father. Here I am."

Father, if You don't do it for anybody else, do it for me. Hallelujah! That You, O God, may be glorified in the name of Jesus. Let that be your prayer. Here I am. Send me. Here I am. Here I am. Send me.

Esther 4:14. Like Esther, she was prepared for a time such as this. So positioning yourself in obedience opens the door for God's glory to manifest. Hallelujah!

Walking in His glory—healing, deliverance, miracles. Say, "Lord, here I am. Use me, God, to walk in Your glory." Say, "Use me, God, to walk in Your glory." Healing, deliverance, and miracles.

So when you are a vessel of honor, the power of God flows through you to bring healing, deliverance, and miracles.

We shouldn't want to be used as any other vessel. Amen? We don't want to be used as a vessel of disobedience. We need to be used as vessels of obedience, depending on God Himself. Amen?

Depending on the Master, depending on the potter to do whatever He needs to do in us. Even if we go kicking and screaming, amen? Even if we resist, even if we say, "Lord, I can't take this anymore," right?

But we've got to trust God, trust Him that He knows what He is doing.

Let's look at healing for just a minute. Let's look at Mark 5. Mark 5, if you want to open up to your scripture, Mark 5:25-34.

Most of you are familiar with this passage, but it says this: "And there was a woman who had a discharge of blood for 12 years and who had suffered much under many physicians and had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, 'If I touch even His garments, I will be made well.'

And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power had gone out from Him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, 'Who touched my garments?'

And His disciples said to Him, 'You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, "Who touched me?"' And He looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth."

What was the last time we told God the whole truth and nothing but the truth? When was the last time we laid it out before God and told the Lord what it is that we're struggling with so that He can heal us?

You see, many times we try to hide it—not only from ourselves, but we try to hide it from others when God is saying, "Let me know." Amen?

Hallelujah! Let me know. Tell me the whole truth. Tell me what you're struggling with so that I can put my hand on it and bring healing to your soul, to your body.

And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your disease."

So the woman with the issue of blood, right? Her faith drew the virtue out of Jesus. Amen?

Say, "I want to draw the virtue out of Jesus."

I want to see vessels of faith then become the conduits for healing. Amen?

So we need to cultivate our faith. How do we cultivate our faith? We cultivate our faith by meditating on the promises of God.

Can we meditate on the promises of God? Can we stop being stubborn in our daily walk? Let us meditate on the word of God. Meditate on His promises. That means you think about it over and over, regurgitate it, take it, eat it, regurgitate it. Amen?

The promises of God! Read Romans 10:17.

So healing, hallelujah! The power of God will flow through you, whether in healing, deliverance, or miracles.

So let's look at deliverance. Acts 16:16-18. Paul and Silas in prison. It says, "As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. She followed Paul and us, crying out, 'These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.' And this she kept doing for many days."

Okay, so it wasn't just a one-time thing; it was many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit—not to her, but to the spirit that was operating in her—said, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour. Hallelujah!

What was the last time you spoke to a spirit? You said, "I command you to get out!" When was the last time you did self-deliverance on yourself? Amen?

Hallelujah! You can pray for deliverance and do deliverance on others, amen? But we've got to become the vessels that God wants us to become. Hallelujah!

So Paul and Silas encountered this woman with the spirit of divination. Paul spoke with what? Did he do it kind of like, "Yeah, spirit, I don't know why you're here. Maybe you want to go?" No, no! He spoke with authority. He spoke with authority. Amen? Hallelujah! Authority. And she was free. Amen!

Vessels of honor carry what? They carry divine authority. Say, "I have divine authority."

Say, "I'm a vessel of honor." If I'm not yet, I will be. And I will walk and carry divine authority. Amen?

So we need to walk in purity and humility, knowing that our authority flows from obedience to God. Amen?

All right, so healing, deliverance. Now let's look at miracles. I'm going to read from John 2:1-11.

This is when Jesus turns water into wine. "On the third day, there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with His disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.' And Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever He tells you.'

Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, 'Fill the jars with water.' And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, 'Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.' So they took it.

When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, 'Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.'

This, the first of His signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee and manifested His glory. And His disciples believed in Him."

So He used ordinary vessels, right, to do something extraordinary. Likewise, God uses us—common people, amen—to display uncommon glory. Praise the Lord!

So expect the miraculous. Expect it! Invite Jesus into the situation and expect the miraculous because we serve a miracle-working God. Hallelujah!

Trust that God is refining you for a greater purpose. And believe it! In God, every delay, every trial, every setback, believe that it is part of His divine design. He allowed it. Amen?

God causes all things to work together for good to those that love Him and are called according to His promises.

Faithfulness in the process. Can you say this night that I choose to be faithful in the process?

My son the other day, we were talking. He says, "Mom, healing is a choice." I said, "Whoa, you're right! It's a choice."

Faithfulness in the process is a choice. Are we going to choose? Are we going to choose to be faithful?

Yes, we can read His word. We can know His word. We can pray, right? We can build up our most holy faith and pray in our prayer language. Yes, we can do those things. Amen?

But it comes down to faithfulness being a choice. Yielding to the Master is a choice. Our yielding doesn't just come naturally unless we've been in the presence of God for a long time. Amen?

If we remain in His presence, then we naturally will yield, right? But we need to yield to surrender our plans, to surrender our desires, and surrender our ambitions to Him.

Fill my cup; it's overflowing!

Faithfulness in the process, yielding to the Master. Amen?

And living in the fruits of the Spirit. See, a vessel of honor must display the fruits of the Spirit. Say, "I am a vessel that displays fruits."

Say it aloud! Speak it over yourself, even if you struggle in that area of the fruits of the Spirit. Speak it over yourself! Decree and declare who you are in Christ Jesus. Amen?

That we bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit indwells us. Amen?

See, this is how the world knows that we belong to Him. The world needs to see the fruit of God's people so that they can know Him. Amen?

Lastly, we need to step into boldness. We need to be courageous in praying for healing—not only for ourselves. Are you praying for healing for yourself? Are you speaking the word over yourself? Are you listening to the word in the atmosphere over yourself? Are you allowing others to pray for you?

Is there a level of humility where you allow a vessel of God to pray for you, speaking deliverance? Amen? Expecting miracles? Amen?

This is a quote now, no matter how you feel about him, but T.D. Jakes once said, "Favor isn't fair, but it's necessary."

So the blessing—favor being blessings— isn't fair, but it's necessary.

I used to tell my children when they were little, I'd always say that "equal doesn't mean fair." So sometimes, see, we don't know. We don't know what they've gone through in their process. We don't know how many setbacks they've had. We don't really know the condition of a person's heart fully.

We can see some things by the fruit. Amen?

But what God pours out upon some, He says, "It rains on the just and on the unjust." Amen?

So we just don't always know, but we need to be gracious and grateful and thankful to God, right?

In the seasons of lack, in the seasons of plenty, in the seasons of sickness, in the seasons of health. Amen?

In the seasons of fruitfulness and the seasons of, you know, not so much. That's right! That's right! Hallelujah!

All right. But listen, the world is crying out for vessels who will carry His glory. They are crying out.

If we had supernatural ears and we could hear the sounds of the world, there would be such a cry. I think it would be like a guttural cry of pain and suffering.

And the world—the people—cry out for the manifestation of the sons of God. That's the vessels that will carry His glory.

Vessels that will stand in the gap. Vessels that will intercede on behalf of somebody who's struggling. Vessels that will pour out the love of God. Amen?

Vessels that will manifest the power of God, and where things will change in a moment, in an instant.

So tonight, will you say, "Lord, here I am. Use me!"

Praise God!

So as we close tonight, I want you to remember the promise from 2 Corinthians 4:7: "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

Subject: Becoming Vessels of Glory for God's Purpose

Dear Ronald Kitoy,

Reflecting on our recent message, I am reminded of the profound journey we are on to become vessels of glory for the Master's use. We explored how God is not looking for perfect vessels, but for those who are willing and yielded to His purpose. Like clay in the hands of a potter, we are shaped and refined through life's circumstances, preparing us for every good work. This process involves cleansing, filling, and positioning ourselves in obedience, allowing us to overflow with His anointing and carry His divine authority.

As we embrace this journey, let us remember that our value lies not in our appearance but in our capacity to carry what God places within us. We are called to stand in the gap and respond to the world's cry for His glory. May we boldly step into this call, trusting that God is refining us for a greater purpose, and be ready to manifest His love and power to those around us.

Blessings,
Ronald Kitoy Team
