In today's gathering, we explored the profound connection between gratitude and generosity, emphasizing how our thankfulness for God's blessings naturally leads us to give freely and abundantly. As we come together each Sunday, we are reminded of the transformative power of community worship, where we can cast our burdens aside and focus on the goodness of God. This communal experience not only uplifts our spirits but also shifts our perspective, allowing us to see life through a lens of gratitude and generosity.
We delved into the biblical principle that new wine requires new wineskins, symbolizing the need for personal transformation to receive God's new blessings. This transformation involves shedding old habits and embracing a new identity in Christ, allowing us to become vessels for His new work in our lives. As living sacrifices, we are called to lay down our personal interests and embrace God's will, trusting that His plans for us are good and perfect.
The story of an outreach event that led to a family's transformation highlighted the ripple effect of generosity. By simply saying "yes" to serving our community, we can change lives and impact future generations. This narrative serves as a powerful reminder that our acts of kindness and generosity can have far-reaching consequences, touching lives in ways we may never fully comprehend.
We also discussed the importance of stretching our faith and resources to support the growth and outreach of our church. As we prepare for our upcoming stretch offering, we are encouraged to seek God's guidance on how we can contribute to the mission of Limitless, ensuring that we continue to serve and bless our community.
Finally, we reflected on the ultimate act of generosity—God giving His only Son for our salvation. This divine generosity compels us to be generous in return, not just with our resources but with our time, love, and patience. As we embody this spirit of generosity, we become living testimonies of God's grace, drawing others to Him through our actions.

Day 1: The Transformative Power of Community Worship
Community worship is a powerful experience that shifts our focus from personal burdens to the goodness of God. When we gather together, we are reminded of the blessings we have received and are encouraged to cultivate a spirit of gratitude and generosity. This communal experience not only uplifts our spirits but also transforms our perspective, allowing us to see life through a lens of thankfulness. By participating in community worship, we are able to cast aside our worries and embrace the joy and peace that come from focusing on God's goodness. [11:00]
"Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25, ESV)
Reflection: How can you prioritize community worship in your life this week, and what burdens do you need to lay down to fully experience God's goodness during these gatherings?
Day 2: Embracing Transformation for New Blessings
To receive God's new blessings, we must undergo personal transformation, shedding old habits and embracing a new identity in Christ. This transformation is akin to the biblical principle that new wine requires new wineskins. By allowing ourselves to be transformed, we become vessels for God's new work in our lives. This process involves laying down our personal interests and trusting in God's perfect plans for us. As we embrace this new identity, we open ourselves to the abundance of blessings that God has in store. [17:03]
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)
Reflection: What old habits or mindsets do you need to shed to embrace your new identity in Christ, and how can you actively pursue this transformation today?
Day 3: The Ripple Effect of Generosity
Acts of kindness and generosity have the power to create a ripple effect, impacting lives and future generations. By saying "yes" to serving our community, we can change the trajectory of entire families. This principle is illustrated through the story of an outreach event that led to a family's transformation. Our willingness to serve and give freely can have far-reaching consequences, touching lives in ways we may never fully comprehend. As we embrace a spirit of generosity, we become instruments of God's love and grace in the world. [37:06]
"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." (Hebrews 13:16, ESV)
Reflection: Think of a specific way you can serve your community this week. How might your act of generosity create a positive impact beyond what you can see?
Day 4: Stretching Our Faith and Resources
As we prepare for our stretch offering, we are encouraged to seek God's guidance on how we can contribute to the mission of our church. Stretching our faith and resources is essential for the growth and outreach of our community. By trusting in God's provision and stepping out in faith, we can ensure that our church continues to serve and bless those around us. This act of faith not only strengthens our relationship with God but also enables us to be a part of His work in the world. [39:42]
"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7, ESV)
Reflection: In what ways can you stretch your faith and resources to support your church's mission, and how can you seek God's guidance in this process?
Day 5: Divine Generosity as Our Model
God's ultimate act of generosity—giving His only Son for our salvation—serves as a model for our own generosity. We are called to be generous not only with our resources but also with our time, love, and patience. By embodying this spirit of generosity, we become living testimonies of God's grace, drawing others to Him through our actions. As we reflect on God's divine generosity, we are compelled to extend the same love and kindness to those around us, becoming vessels of His grace in the world. [57:19]
"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" (Acts 20:35, ESV)
Reflection: How can you model God's divine generosity in your daily life, and what specific actions can you take to extend love and kindness to those around you today?
**Party in the street till the sun come get us
And tell the whole crew they can all come with us
And we ain't gotta lock the doors
And we don't need cops of course
And we don't care about your skin
We just want an all out win
They tell me it's illogical
But anything is possible
If God be for us
We can overcome all obstacles
They say love covers
A multitude of sins
So I'm here to put some Hallelujah!
Hallelujah.**
Good morning, church.
We can do better than that this morning.
Good morning, church.
Yeah, anybody excited to be in the house of God this morning?
I'm reminded of the scripture that says, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord."
Yes.
It's something that is significant about us coming together.
It's something significant about us going through our week and all of the things that come with our jobs and our family and life.
And wearing and carrying those things throughout the week.
But then comes Sunday.
Oh, if I could just make it to Sunday where I can be together with my brothers and my sisters, where I can be together, where I can sing God's praises, where I can be in remembrance of what he's done, where I can cast my cares, my worries, and my anxieties, where I can sing to him, where I can just say, "God, regardless of what happened this week, I thank you."
Regardless of what I walked through this week, I thank you.
God, regardless of how I'm feeling in my body right now, God, I thank you.
And you have been good.
If something happens when we all get together and we begin thanking God and glorifying God, the atmosphere changes.
It shifts our position.
It changes our life and the way that we are.
It just begins to, a difference begins to spark on us when we come together into the house of the Lord.
Something happens when we get in the room.
And I'm excited that each and every one of us are here today.
My name is Pastor Keenan.
I should have did this first.
Hey, if you're new here and this is your very first time, good morning.
My name is Pastor Keenan.
I'm the pastor here at Limitless along with my wife, Miss Sonia.
We're excited that you're here this morning if this is your first time.
We don't believe that it's an accident that you're here this morning either.
Get this, you got set up.
I know you probably thought, "Hey, this week, I'm going to church."
Or somebody may have invited you or maybe they drug you along the way.
Either way, you're here.
But we believe that there is something significant that happened.
We believe that God has been speaking to your heart.
That he has been having conversations with you and you have been having conversations with him.
You have been having conversations with yourself.
God even cleared your schedule to make sure that you were here this morning.
Why? Because there is something that God wants to do in your life.
There is something that he wants to speak to you about today.
That is why you're here.
And frankly, let me tell you at Limitless, we're just excited to be a part of the process.
We're excited to see what God is going to do.
Limitless, can we make some noise for our visitors this morning?
Hey, I'm always excited for what God is doing.
And when he brings people through our door, we do not make it a small deal.
We are excited that you chose to worship with us.
It means a lot for you to be here.
Do me a favor at the end of service, I'm going to be out at the connection table.
And I would love for you to just come say hello to us.
We have a first-time visitors card.
It's located on the QR code on a seat pocket in front of you.
And we have one out at the table.
I would appreciate it if you would consider filling that out.
I would love to just send you a text just to say thank you and call you this week.
And just say, "Hey, how was your experience?" and pray with you?
Like I said, it's not a small deal for us.
We like to make it a big deal whenever people visit Limitless.
But please know that now that you're here, you are family.
So welcome home.
All right, as we continue to move into a deeper part of worship, I'm going to have my altar team, my team come forward at this time.
I recognize that you, for some of you, you may see people jumping up and down or you may see people excited and maybe you walked in today and you were a little bit heavy and you're trying to shake it off.
But maybe you can, and you say, "Pastor, there's a lot going on, and right now I'm just in need of prayer."
Well, I don't want to have to wait to the end of service for you to get what you need.
I believe there's no time like the present for you to get prayer.
So if that's you today, and you say, "Pastor, hey, I just need somebody to agree with me on something.
You know, I'm believing God for healing.
I'm believing God for breakthrough."
Then as we worship in this next song, we would love for the opportunity to pray for you for that.
This scripture I would like to read to you.
It is, pull this up here.
Here we go.
Matthew chapter 9, verse 16 is where we want to start.
Verse 16 says, "But new wine is put into fresh wineskins so that both are preserved."
A lot of us are saying, "God, I'm looking for you to do something new in my life."
God, maybe you're here today and this Sunday because you said, "Hey, you know what?
I am making a commitment to run with God.
I want to start my life with Jesus, or I'm looking to go deeper with God."
And as a result of that decision, for some of you, maybe it's been a little difficult.
Maybe it's been a little hard.
There's been some things that have taken place, and you're like, "God, I didn't know it was going to be this way.
I'm looking for you to do something new in my life."
Be like this.
But this is what it is.
That God is saying, "Hey, there's some things that have to break off.
There are some things that I got to get off of you because I can't pour the new things I have for you into the old you.
So I'm creating a new you so that I can pour the new wine into you."
The scripture talks about us being a living sacrifice.
But understand that when we are a living sacrifice, that means some things have to get put on the altar.
And so maybe that's a process that you're walking through.
And so if that's you, I want to challenge you in this next song to just say, "God, whatever it is you want me to be, I want to be that.
Whatever it is you have for me, I want that.
Whatever breaking needs to take place, whatever shedding needs to take place, I yield myself up to you."
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your people.
I thank you for what you're doing in the lives of those that are here.
God, you are creating a new in us.
God, I thank you because where new wine is, there's new power.
Where new wine is, there's freedom.
Where new wine is, there's healing.
And God, we submit to what you have us to be.
We praise you.
We love you.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
Amen.
Come on, let's make some noise for them.
Well, I am excited this morning but excited about that, excited to hear that story.
Thank you for Dina and Elton for sharing you guys' story with us.
I begin to think about just everything that went into that outreach.
I remember even the idea that we had for the outreach and how that walked out and just it showing continually God's faithfulness, how God is way steps ahead of what we could think or imagine.
I remember that I had went, I'm a Christian hip-hop artist, and I had a concert in, it was Portland.
I had a concert in Portland, and there was an outreach there, and I thought that it was good, and I was excited about traveling, and I was excited about doing these outreaches.
We had done one, it was actually back-to-back.
We had one in Portland, and then we had one in Seattle, and we were going to these outreaches, and we were going to these outreaches, and it was wonderful.
And I remember thinking, "Hey, it's great that I get to be a part of these things and participate in these things across the United States, but what about where I live?"
So this is where the idea for this outreach was born.
And even, you know, by the time we opened the doors, we had done practically no promotion for this event outside of putting some flyers outside of, again, Food for Less.
Praise God, this is some oil on Food for Less.
But anyway, we had put some flyers outside of the Food for Less, and they had given us some coupons, and we were like, "Okay, whoever shows up, shows up."
And to think, when we opened, Shayla, I don't know if you remember, when we opened that door, before we even opened, there were people lined up around the corner to participate.
Yeah, my people, y'all remember, because we were like, "What are we going to do with it?
People come from."
And they're looking at me like, "You told us nobody was going to show up."
But I remember the line being wrapped around the corner.
And as we're there, we're excited to have the opportunity to give these people shoes and haircuts.
And then we meet Ms. Dina.
And we meet Ms. Dina and her boys.
And she's asking us, and we're talking about everything that's going on.
And we had no idea the impact that this one outreach could have on one person's life.
I believe it was a little over, was it a year later?
Yes.
A year later, we get a message from Ms. Dina early in the morning.
Hallelujah.
And she's like, "Hey, can you meet me at the park?"
And Ms. Dina says, "Hey, I'm going to meet you at the park."
And she's like, "Hey, can you meet me at the park?
I am ready to make Jesus Christ the Lord of my life."
This is from an outreach where we were handing out shoes and backpacks.
And not only did it change the trajectory of that moment for her life, now it's not just her, but it's her and her husband.
Now it's not just her and her husband, it's her, her husband, and her kids.
And that one outreach has now not only affected her, but her marriage, her family, and the entire legacy of this family simply by one decision for us to be able to say, "Yes, we want to bless this city.
We want to hand out some things because I know what it's like to grow up in a single-parent household and it be time for school.
To know that my kid, to know that as a kid, I want a haircut, but that might not be what I'm able to get.
I want a new book bag.
I want new shoes.
I want to look nice for the first week of school.
And by a group of people coming together, a family coming together and saying, "Yes, we will do this," it changed the trajectory of their life.
And here we are, seven, eight years later, Dina and Elton both serve in ministry, walking in their gift and their calling.
Their kids serve in ministry now, walking in their calling because of that.
Last week, I talked to you guys about stretching.
And I talked to you guys about the desire and the need for our church to stretch.
And I talked to you guys about the desire and the need for our church to stretch.
And for us to stretch together.
And I said, "Hey guys, I need you to go home and pray about giving a stretch offering."
Because our church is growing fast.
Here we are again.
We're back at it again, guys.
And all of our seats are filled.
People, we're hearing stories of transformation.
We're seeing what happens when we have an opportunity to say yes, to bless this church.
And we're seeing what happens when we have an opportunity to say yes, and how that could impact and change everything.
And so I just want to remind you guys, please go home, pray, say, "Lord, how would you have me to stretch?
What would you have me to give so that next year, Limitless can have outreaches like the one that blessed the McWashington's family?
How would you have me to stretch so that we can have our Limitless student ministries, which is our middle school and our high school ministry that we want to launch next year?
How would you have me stretch so that we can continue to serve our kids ministry and our young adults ministry?
How would you have me to stretch so that Limitless can continue to grow?
So December 8th, we will have our stretch offering and we're going to collect it.
We're going to pray over it.
And we're going to give testimony to what God is doing.
Because through this is how we will support these efforts next year.
So as I said, go home, pray for God to give you a number and then move from there.
Secondly, in my two things, that's number one.
Number two, we talked about this outreach that we're having.
And I talked to you, I told you the city called us.
They said, "Hey, we want to have an ice skating rink.
We want to give half of the proceeds from our ice skating rink to a nonprofit."
And he said, "But the thing is, we need that nonprofit.
We need that nonprofit.
We need that nonprofit to serve that week."
And so we have that outreach that is coming up and we had to make a change in the dates that we had.
And so originally we were scheduled for Monday, Saturday, the 7th and Monday, the 9th, but those dates have now changed.
Saturday will be the opening day for the skating rink.
So the city officials will be there serving that day.
And the 9th is a Monday and they'll be taking the Monday off.
Every Monday, the skating rink will be closed.
So they said they're, they opened two more days for us, which is the 13th and the 15th.
So I know first service went ham.
And by the time y'all got out there, there was no places for y'all to serve, but don't worry.
Look at God moving on your behalf.
Look at that.
The 13th and the 15th are now open.
And so if you would like to serve and be a part of this outreach where we serve the city and thank the city for being generous, for allowing us to receive half of those proceeds.
And we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, we are appreciative of that, but please after service, go out there, sign up.
And somebody asked me, "Hey, do I need to know how to skate on the ice?"
And that answer is maybe.
If you do know how to skate on the ice, we will definitely use you.
We'll give you a phone.
So as people fall, you can record and take pictures and help them up.
But to ensure safety on the ice, but if you don't know how to skate, there are other opportunities for you to serve at registration, handing out skates at the hot chocolate booth or the other places there.
There are other opportunities for you to serve.
So if you're available on either of those days, we would love for you to serve with us.
Is anybody ready to dive into the word today?
All right, let's do this.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word.
Thank you for the opportunity to hear from you today.
Today, Lord, we know that your word is anointed.
So we ask today that you would anoint our hearts to hear it, our ears to hear it and our hearts to receive it.
God, it is our desire that we would not just be hearers of your word, but that we would be doers of your word as well.
Nothing matters, God, if we don't hear from you.
You know what's going on in each and every one of us, you know our will to serve.
So we ask today that you would anoint our hearts to hear it and our hearts to receive it.
God, if you would anoint our hearts to hear it and our hearts to receive it.
God, and our week to come and you know how to speak to all of us and individually each one of us at the same time.
So God, we lay aside every distraction.
We lay aside our thoughts right now that might be pulling us in different directions.
And we are laser focused in on what you want to do in this moment.
We love you.
We praise you.
We thank you in Jesus' name.
Amen.
All right.
We spent the last two weeks in a series called Thanksgiving talking about general gratitude and generosity.
This opening, we talked about how important it is that we don't get caught up in the trap of complaining and murmuring.
Week one, we talked about how we have to fight for gratitude.
It is a fight and it is not an easy one, but we have to fight for gratitude.
And then last week we talked about how we've been given the grace to walk in gratitude and how walking in that grace can not only change our lives, but the lives of our community, the lives of our relationships, even the lives of our family.
We said since pride and comparison are the blockers or the killers of gratitude, we choose humility and contentment to activate gratitude in our everyday life.
So we spent this time talking about gratitude, and now this week and next week, I want to move from gratitude to gratitude's response, which is generosity.
Somebody say this with me.
Say, "I am generous."
I am generous.
All right.
I just want y'all to know the lights are on me.
I can see your face.
So when you don't say it, it's kind of rude.
So just be nice.
All right.
Say this with me.
I am generous.
I am generous.
Some of us, we talking about faith right now.
That's okay.
We're going to get there.
All right.
Let's define what generosity is.
The quality of being generous.
Generosity is the quality of being generous or the willingness to give freely.
The quality of being generous or the willingness to give freely.
Because I am grateful, I'm coming to you.
I'm coming to you.
I'm coming to you.
I'm coming to you.
I'm coming to you.
Compelled to be generous, okay?
The direct response to gratitude is generosity.
When we realize how generously we have received, we are compelled to generously give.
We are generous.
Now, if you're here right now and you're feeling a little tight, you might be feeling a little type of way right now because a pastor is talking about generosity.
You're already here, so you might as well sit through it and let the Lord work, okay?
Put your seatbelt on because we're going to get to work.
All right, generosity.
Acts chapter 2.
I want to start at verse 40 and go to verse 45.
Acts chapter 2, verse 40 through verse 45.
And Peter solemnly testified and continued to admonish and urge them with many more words, saying, "Be saved from this crooked and unjust generation."
Okay?
So then those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day, about 3,000 souls were added to the body of believers.
They were connected.
They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles and to fellowship, to eating meals together and to prayers.
Here we go.
A sense of awe was felt by everyone.
And many wonders and signs, attesting miracles, were taking place through the apostles.
And all those who had believed in Jesus as Savior were together and had all things in common.
Considering their position, they were all together.
They were all together.
They were all together.
And they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing the proceeds with all the other believers as anyone had need.
They began selling their property and possessions and were sharing the proceeds with all the other believers as anyone had need.
Okay, I want to show you what's taking place here.
After hearing the gospel, Peter preaches.
He preaches the gospel of Jesus.
3,000 people were baptized.
They began to begin their journey with God, begin their journey with Christ.
And as they begin this journey, they encounter the fellowship of the believers.
First, this encounter that they had sparked a deep sense of awe.
They hear the message of Jesus.
They hear the goodness of God.
They respond to the gospel and all the things that God has done for them.
And they have this sense of reverential fear, this sense of awe that comes from reflecting on the goodness of God.
The gospel of Jesus and that reflection and that gratitude, out of that emerges a generosity.
Out of them realizing how generously they've received, generosity emerges out of them.
The scripture says, sharing everything they had with one another, radical generosity.
We talk a lot about generosity because God has called us to be generous people.
Gratitude characterizes a believer, but so should generosity.
Christians should be the most generous people ever.
They should be the most generous people ever.
Why? Because we have generously received.
Not only have we generously received, but as a believer, we recognize how generously we have received.
When we come to Jesus, we come to Jesus acknowledging how he has sacrificed for us.
When we come to the knowledge of that, that should spark a generosity in us like never before.
Listen, generosity isn't just about giving money or giving resources.
It's about giving ourselves.
It is about giving ourselves.
It is about reflecting the heart of God in our actions.
When we truly understand how generously we have received, when we truly understand how much we have been given through Christ, generosity becomes a natural response.
Generosity is born out of an overflow of gratitude.
It is something that wells up on the inside of us when we acknowledge how good God has been.
It is driven by a desire to see other people experience the same generosity that we have received.
It is driven by a desire to see other people come to the knowledge of the same generosity that we have received.
This is one of the differences between the believers and the unbelievers.
We expect unbelievers to be stingy.
I expect them to be selfish, stingy people.
I expect that out of people who don't know Jesus.
It is astonishing for that to be a characteristic of somebody who does know Jesus.
How can you not be generous when all, when you understand and recognize how much you've been given?
When you understand and recognize how generous God has been to you, that makes no sense for someone who has so much to then not give.
When we fully understand the impact of generosity in our life as believers, it will change everything.
It will change our life.
It will change our desire to be generous, Limitless.
We are generous.
This is what God has called us to.
Second Corinthians chapter eight, verse nine.
Yeah, let's start at verse nine.
Here's the thing.
Let me tell you what's happening in second Corinthians at the beginning of verse eight.
There's a, Paul is talking to the Corinthian church and he's telling them about a gift.
He is talking to them about a gift that is being given.
And he's explaining to them what is happening here.
And in verse eight, he's talking about this gift.
And he's, excuse me, verse nine, he says, "You're wondering, maybe why you're giving or why this generosity has occurred."
In verse nine, he says, "For you are recognizing more clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You are recognizing more clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, his astonishing kindness, his generosity, his gracious favor, that though he was rich, yet for your sake, he became poor so that by his poverty, you might become rich.
You might become abundantly blessed."
He says, "As a result of your giving, because he said, just like he's writing this letter, he's like, just in case you're trying to figure out why, why you giving so much and why this gift of giving is welling up on the inside of you.
Maybe you don't quite understand it.
Maybe, and you're excited and you're trying to figure out, man, why do I want to be so generous?
Why, why do I, why, why do I feel that?"
He said, "You are recognizing more clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You are recognizing his kindness.
You are recognizing his generosity.
And as a result of you recognizing his generosity, you now have a desire to be generous."
When we clearly recognize the generosity of God, it causes us to want to be generous, recognizing how gracious he's been to us.
John 3, verse 16, the scripture that we all know for any of us who's ever been in church for any period of time, we know this one by heart, right?
Right?
Right?
Right?
It's like the entry scripture to get into the door.
We know this one.
We may not know nothing else.
We know this one now, right?
John 3, 16, for the new people, maybe you don't know this scripture, so I'm not, you know, I'm going to read it.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
This is generosity.
This is the encompassment of generosity.
And here's what happens.
What happens is because we know this scripture, because we've read this scripture, because we've heard this scripture time in and time out, because we know this scripture by heart, sometimes the familiarity with the scripture can cause it to lose its potency in our life.
I'm going to read this again.
For God so loved.
The Amplified says, "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world."
Okay?
Who is the world?
That's you and me.
That's us.
That's each and every one of us.
When he said the world, he was talking about us.
He said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son."
He so loved the world.
You and I, who on our best day are wicked, are sinful, are deeply flawed.
He said he so loved us, us who maybe say something to him in the morning and we may not, we may pray over our food we may not.
He said he so loved us that we may remember to thank him we may not.
We may go on days or weeks without saying nothing to him and he says, "I so greatly and dearly loved you with your fickle self, with your back and forth self, with your worrying self."
He says, "I so dearly loved and greatly prized you that I gave."
Now, I gave.
It's not like when he says gave, it ain't like when you get somebody twenty dollars.
You get somebody twenty dollars and for some of y'all and most of y'all blessed, it might not even hurt you.
You know, you might be all right.
You get somebody twenty dollars, a hundred dollars for some of you right here might not, a thousand dollars for some of y'all, it's a little less pool.
But for some of you, it might not even, it might, it might not faze you.
He said, "He said he so dearly that when he says I gave, here this is something totally different.
Gave."
He said, "I knew that my son, my one and only son that I love so much, I'm sending him down.
I know that they will disrespect him.
I know that they will not believe him.
I know that they will have a cat of nine tails, a whip with glass shards and nails and broken pieces of metal, and they will rip it in his back.
I know that they will continue to whip him until he can't stand.
I know that he will have to carry a cross.
I know that they will put nails in his hand and in his feet.
I know that they will pierce him in his side until his entrails are falling out, and he will die, that he will be crucified.
But I so love and dearly prize you that I am giving him to this."
This is not just giving something.
No, no, no, no, no.
I am giving you what I have, knowing full well what will happen, and I am choosing to do it.
Dearly loved, greatly prized you so much that I gave my son.
And then we see, he says, "So that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life."
But I want you to understand that eternal life is an umbrella.
It is an umbrella that accompanies so much.
It wasn't just eternal life that he gave us.
He died, he gave his son so that we could have eternal life, but he gave his son so that we could have restored relationship with God.
He gave his son so that we could have the Holy Spirit.
He gave his son so that we could have access to the grace of God.
He gave his son so that we could live in peace.
He gave his son so that we could have joy.
He gave his son so that we wouldn't be a slave to sin.
He gave his son so that we could be set free.
He gave his son so that we could have hope.
He gave his son so that we could know unconditional love.
This is what generosity means.
We have a generous God who gave to us, and generously we have received.
Generously we have received.
That you would dare have an attitude, "Well, what did God give me?"
I wish you would.
I pray that you would understand and fully comprehend how much God has given you.
"Well, God didn't answer my prayer."
Your prayer?
Your prayer?
Your prayer?
You mean he didn't answer the thing, that you asked him to do, that you had a relationship with him to ask him to do, that you woke up to ask him to do, the breath that you had in your body to ask him to do it?
Generosity.
He is a generous God.
And when we realize how generous he is to us, our response has to be generosity.
We have to be people that are generous.
Because of his generosity, my life is not the same.
We see life through a different lens because of what he did.
I know what mercy is because of his mercy that has been so generous towards me.
I know what real love is because of his generous love towards me.
I am ready to be generous towards him.
I am ready to be generous towards him.
I am ready to forgive even when it's hard because of how generously he continues to forgive me.
I am able to be patient with others because I am fully aware of how patient he has to be with me.
I see life through a different lens.
We see life through the lens of generosity.
How can I have a problem being generous when I can easily see God's love towards me?
I can easily see God's love towards me.
I can easily see how his generosity has affected me.
That's why it can't just be something that we do.
It's not transactional.
It has to be who we are.
Generosity is everything.
It means so much.
We are generous.
God, I always say God is the ultimate church.
If you know me for any amount of time, that's my saying.
He is the ultimate chess player.
I did not grow up with a father, but I know what a father is because of God's generosity.
Although I did not grow up with a father, because he was so generous, he put men in my life as I began to get older to show me how to be a man.
My youth pastor showed me how to tie a tie.
One of my adult leaders showed me how to respond and how to walk in an interview.
My desire for the Lord came from men and women who were God placed around me generously.
God wasn't like, "Oh no, I'm sorry.
You don't got a dad.
It looks like you stuck."
No, he says, "I am going to, I am willing to move people's lives because you need to see this generosity."
I am the youngest of three.
My brother is six years older than me and my sister is 12 years older than me.
So when I got about seven or eight years old, I was in the house by myself, just me and my mom.
That's it.
So I didn't really have family around me.
I had step family that were estranged and my, my, all of my cousins, uncles, everybody was in New York and I'm living in Atlanta.
And I remember just living life, growing up and not really knowing what a family dynamic really was.
I had family at church, people that I called family, but no one close to that extent.
And then I came to California.
My family is the people that are laughing right now.
I remember coming to California, meeting Sonia, and she bringing me over and then I began to spend time here.
Okay.
I remember texting my brother and explaining to him the current situation that I was in.
Every time he texts me and calls me, I was with my wife's family.
And so I began to explain to him everything.
And I remember I read this text the other day as I was scrolling through my old text and he says, "Are you in a cult?"
Yeah, that's what he said.
And I remember thinking like, "I don't think so.
I don't think so, but let me check."
And I'm telling everybody in my back home where I'm at, what's going on.
Here's my location just in case.
All right.
I don't know.
I'm gullible.
Maybe, I don't know.
But I began telling him and I said, "You don't understand.
We're always together.
Okay.
We go and eat.
There's 30 of us eating at the table.
We, anytime someone has a birthday, we're there and we're there a long time.
Any sport, any sport, we're there.
Rain, sleep, snow, shine.
And not only are we're there, we're the last ones to leave.
And then when we go over the family's house, when we get in, we have to speak to, I don't know these people.
We have to speak to everybody.
And then when we leave, we again have to get up and speak to everybody on the way out.
We have, and we can't miss anybody.
So we have to go around a couple of times to make sure that we didn't miss anybody.
Again, I have no idea what this family dynamic is, but God in his generosity, he says, "Son, one day you're going to have a family and you need to see what a family is so that you can raise up your family to know what this looks like."
So what I need to do is I need to show you family so that you can be a family to your wife and to your kids so you don't get mad every time everybody's at the house.
You don't get mad when people are over.
You don't get mad when you got to go to a game for the 50th time even though the kid in the game ain't playing.
You, why?
Because that's what family does.
Because they are going to be there.
You need to know what it looks like for people to be there at your lowest moment.
You need to know what it looks like to celebrate with people who love you and care for you.
God in all of his generosity says, "Son, I want you to see what this looks like."
I want you to see this.
This is a generous God.
2 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 10.
Verse 10 says, "Now he who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed for sowing, your resources, and increase the harvest of your righteousness, which shows itself in active goodness, kindness, and love."
He says, "You will be enriched."
That word enriched means full and enough in every way.
You will be enriched.
You will be full.
You will have sufficiency in every way.
Why?
So that you may be generous.
And this generosity that is administering through us from you is producing thanksgiving to God from those who benefit.
For the ministry of this service, the ministry of this offering isn't only supplying the needs of the saints and God's people, but it is overflowing through many expressions of thanksgiving to God.
Because of this active ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to the gospel of Christ, which you confess, as well as for your generous participation in this gift for them and for all the other believers in need.
Jesus, he calls generosity.
Here in scripture, he calls generosity a ministry.
It is a ministry of service.
And he says, "As you walk out this ministry of service, as you walk it out, people will glorify God for your obedience.
People will glorify your God for your obedience because he says, when you're generous, you're being obedient to the gospel of Christ.
He says, and they're going to glorify God because you chose to be generous.
They're going to glorify God because you were generous with your time.
They will glorify God because you were generous with your love.
They're going to glorify God because you were generous with your patience.
They're going to glorify God because of your generosity, your joy will produce thanksgiving to God.
Your peace in the midst of turmoil will produce thanksgiving to God.
Your faith will produce thanksgiving to God.
We have received such generosity from God, and that generosity changes us, and it enables us to be generous to others.
And when we do, too, people say, "Thank you, Jesus."
When we do, people say, "Thank you, God," because you don't understand what they have been praying for.
You don't understand what they are begging God for.
You don't understand what need they have.
And simply by you choosing to be obedient and answer prayer, thank you, Jesus.
This is why it is important to be here today for us to hear from God.
Miss Leona, I don't think she's here, but Miss Leona gave her testimony about praying and asking what it is that God would have her to give.
Okay?
I might play that next week.
She prays and asks, right before I do offering, I always pray, "God, what would you have us to give?"
She says, "I don't know why you did that, but I chose to do it, and God spoke to me on what it is that I should give."
This is why we have to pray to hear from God.
Why? Because God is trying to get not something to us.
You're going to get taken care of.
Here's our problem.
We're worried about us.
Can I just be, can I keep it up?
We're worried about us.
If I give it, then I ain't got it, and if I ain't got it, I probably need it.
That's us.
He's not trying to get something to us.
He will take care of us.
He continues to take care of us.
He has not been a day late or a dollar short.
He continues to take care of us.
So get that out of your head.
Get that out of your head.
The fact that you will be in lack is a lie from the devil.
Do not believe that.
Okay, let's get that out the way.
So now it is no longer about getting something to you.
The question is can he get it through you?
Why?
So that you can bless others.
Why?
So that they can now give thanksgiving to God.
That is what he's saying.
He's like we have to hear from him.
Why?
Because people are praying.
People are in need of breakthroughs.
People are in need of things and we got it.
And he's like if you, if I dare you to ask me because I'm going to get it.
He says, "I give seed to the sower so I'm going to get it to you so I can get it through you so that they can get to know me."
Because they might be there and they said, "God, if you're real then I need somebody to walk up to me right now and tell me that you're real."
But you're in a rush.
You're in a hurry.
Their salvation and the whole moment encompassing their life is dependent on this moment of you being generous with your time.
You being generous with your time.
And God says, "Hey, I want you to tell that person that you're real."
And I need somebody to walk up to me right now and tell me that you're real.
I love him.
Come on.
And you're like, "God, I'm already running late.
You know what my boss is going to say.
You know I didn't got and got up late.
I done forgot my stuff.
You know the kind of day I'm having."
He says, "I need you to tell that person that I love them."
And imagine, and I've seen this happen before my very eyes that you just take a minute and not move when he says move and go where he tells you to go and say what he tells you to say and someone's life is changed forever because you decided to be generous.
You stopped thinking about money and God said money is the little thing.
Get past that.
You need to be generous with yourself.
It is about giving of you, being generous with your time, being generous with the gift that God has given you.
Sometimes we think that we get to this place where God said, we say, "Hey, your gift will make room for you."
You're like, "Yes, it will, God.
Thank you for my job.
Thank you my gift has made room for me."
And he says, "Yes, but be generous with that gift."
Yeah, you're going to get taken care of, but you need to continue to be generous.
Why?
So that it can produce thanksgiving to God.
You need to continue to be generous.
People benefit from us making the decision to say yes.
Worship team, would you come?
Second Corinthians chapter eight, verse one.
Verse one says, "Now brothers and sisters, we want to tell you about the grace of God which has been evident in the churches of Macedonia, awaking in them a longing to contribute.
For during an ordeal of severe distress, their abundant joy and their deep poverty together overflowed in the wealth of their lavish generosity."
Right there, that don't make no sense.
How is it that their severe distress, their abundant joy and their deep poverty overflowed in generosity?
How?
He says, "For I testify that according to their ability," that means what they could do, "and beyond their ability, they gave voluntarily, begging us insistently for the privilege of participating in the service for the support of the saints in Jerusalem."
Not only did they give materially as we had hoped, but first they gave themselves to the Lord.
You can't be generous if you don't first give yourself to the Lord.
He says they gave themselves to the Lord and us, his representatives by the will of God, disregarding their personal interests and giving as much as they possibly could.
He's talking about this church in Macedonia.
They were in deep poverty.
The city of Macedonia was in deep poverty, but the church in Macedonia was not.
The Macedonian city had nothing, but the church in Macedonia understood that in their nothing they had more than enough.
And at the thought of the opportunity to be generous even in their state, they begged to contribute.
They begged to have the opportunity to contribute.
Each one gave not just the opportunity to contribute, but the opportunity to contribute to the church.
That's according to what they have, meaning they didn't just give whatever was in their pocket.
They were looking for things to give.
They were looking for opportunity.
They went in the stash.
They went in every account.
They looked under the pillow.
They did whatever they could to give sacrificially.
Why?
Why would a poor church in a poor town beg to be a part of giving?
So, so, so what would they give over and above disregarding their personal interests as much as they could when they had so little?
It's because in their faith in God and their trust in his provision, they chose to be generous.
Because of their faith in God and their trust in his provision.
Generosity wasn't just something that they did.
Generosity was who they were.
And generosity is who we are.
We are generous.
We have to lean into the transformative power of generosity.
The gratitude that we have, allowing us to be people that are generous, just like the early Christians in the book of Acts who were moved by their encounter with God, that they shared everything with one another.
We are called to live out radical generosity.
It's not just about our resources.
It's about offering ourselves to others.
It's about reflecting the heart, the heart of God through our actions, knowing that everything we have is a gift to be shared.
See, some of us believe that everything we have comes from God.
But we stop there.
No, everything that we have comes from God, and it is a gift to be shared.
Our generosity is a response to God's indescribable gift to us.
I pray that we would see our lives through the lens of generosity.
That we would see how much we've been given.
That every act of generosity is a testament to the gospel at work in us.
Pray that we would leave here empowered to live a life so surrendered, so trusting in him, so radically generous that the world would see us and they can't help but to notice.
That they would say, "No, no, no, no.
I know that church.
I know the people in that church.
I grew up in that church."
Church.
How?
How are they taking care of these schools?
How are they ministering to these middle schoolers and high schoolers?
How are they building a church?
How are they feeding the hungry?
How are they getting rid of all of the crime in the city?
How are they ministering to all these people?
And then why would they do that?
Why would they do that?
Don't they know?
That now is not the time.
Don't they know that there is a report that says that there's going to be a shift in the stock market?
Don't they know that what they're saying about the gas price is going high?
Don't they know that there's about to be a drought?
Don't they know?
Why would they even choose to give right now?
And that would be the opportunity that we would tell them.
It doesn't matter what's going on in this life.
It doesn't matter what the stock market says.
It doesn't matter what the news says.
We don't change.
We are generous.
We are generous when times are good.
We are generous when times are bad.
We are generous in times of surplus.
We are generous in times of a deficit.
Why?
Because generosity isn't just something that we do.
Generosity is who we are.
That's why they call us Limitless.
Because it doesn't matter what's going on.
We choose to follow what God has called us to do.
And part of that calling is being generous.
Let your light so shine before men that they will see your good works and glorify your father, which is in heaven.
We are called to be generous.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word.
Thank you for the calling that you have called us to.
Thank you for reminding us of what you've called us to.
I pray that you would stir up generosity in each and every one of us.
That you would challenge us in our generosity.
In our time, in our faith, in our love, in our patience.
That we would exercise a generosity like nothing else.
Stir up generosity on the inside of us that people will want to know the God that we serve.
And as a result of our generosity, that they would give thanksgiving to God.
That men would be drawn to you because of the generosity of Limitless.
Thank you for a grace of generosity.
That this church will be known for the grace of generosity on our lives.
Hallelujah, God.
We thank you for it.
We declare that it is so.
We know, God, that the enemy will try to steal this word from us.
And so I pray.
I pray that as opportunities arise to be generous, that we would move, that we would move, that we would respond, that we wouldn't get caught up in ourselves and what we need and what we want and our desire, but that we would choose to be generous, that you would get the glory.
We thank you for it.
In Jesus' name, amen.
I'm going to call our offering team to come up at this time.
We get to walk it out.
And even as I'm reading this scripture and I'm thinking about this, I can't help but to be reminded of the video we showed about maybe a month ago of the family in Zambia.
And how they were on their knees thanking God because we decided to be generous.
It's like the scripture is living out loud in that moment.
Because many of you gave sacrificially.
Because we said there is a need for people to drink clean water.
They're not looking for anything grand.
They're not looking for you to pay their bills.
They just want water.
And as a result of the generosity of you, they were able to give thanks to God.
As a result of your gift, they live.
They live.
They go to church and they have a deeper understanding of God's generosity because of your generosity.
This is why we give.
Not because it's time to give.
Not because a pastor said so.
It is because we recognize that he gives seed to the sower.
And we give out of an excitement that says, "God, I don't even know what you're going to do with this seed, but I'm excited to see."
Who is going to come tonight?
Who is going to know you because I decided to be generous?
Who is going to have a better revelation of who you are because I decided to give?
Whose life is going to be forever changed?
Whose husband is going to be changed?
Whose family is going to be changed?
Whose kids are going to be changed because I decided to be generous?
God, I cannot wait.
And so today, God, we give out of a generous heart.
God, we believe that you give seed to the sower because your word says it.
So as we prepare to give, speak to us, God, what would you have us to give?
That it wouldn't just be something that we do out of habit, but now we're giving out of expectation.
We are giving out of faith right now, God.
What would you have us to give?
Speak to us, God.
Speak to us, God.
That we would move.
That we would move out of obedience.
Thank you, Jesus.
We believe that we've heard you, God.
So we move out of faith and obedience.
We sow this seed.
In Jesus' name, amen.
If you're here new for the very first time, or you're watching online, there are three ways to give.
We got a QR code on the seat pocket in front of you.
Our offering envelopes are there as well.
As the bucket passes, or if you're online, you can go to limitlesswoodland.com.
There's a give tab there.
You can text the word give to 833-879-0161.
Do me a favor as the buckets are passing.
Our worship team is going to lead us in worship.
And then I have one more thing, and I'll be right back.
But would you worship?
Worship with us as we give.
**Nothing all you have given me
Jesus brings my power to me.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.**
Let's stretch our hands towards our giving.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity to sow.
God, thank you for the opportunity to give.
I thank you for those that gave out of generosity.
I thank you for those that gave out of the little that they have.
And even those that didn't have to give today, Lord, I pray that you would bless them all.
Press down, shaking together, running over into every area of their life that they would be blessed.
I thank you for the seed that it is sown into good ground.
And we command that seed to go, to grow, and to multiply.
In Jesus' name, amen.
I'm going to call our altar team forward at this time.
Please, no walking, no moving at this time.
If you're here today and you have never made Jesus Christ your Lord and personal Savior, then I want to offer you this opportunity today before we leave.
We're talking about this idea of generosity.
And the reason that we can be generous is because we recognize how generously we've received.
God sent his son to die so that we could be in relationship with him.
And maybe you've made Jesus your friend.
Maybe you've even made him a close friend.
The friend that you go to in case when bad things happen.
You go to him in funerals.
You go to him in times at hospital visits.
You go to him in those things.
But I want to challenge you today to make him more than a friend.
Amen.
Today, I want to challenge you to make him Lord of your life.
This word Lord means ruler.
It means king.
It means the head of.
The ruler of.
Because God is much more than a friend or confidant.
He is Lord.
And he says that if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, then you will be saved.
I want to challenge you to step.
If you have it, make that decision today.
It is the best decision that you could ever make in your life.
God being Lord.
He sent his son not to be a friend so that he would be Lord of your life.
This idea that you have come to the end of your life.
You have come to the end of yourself.
You have done everything you can.
You are at the end of your rope and that is exactly where you need to be.
Now, give it to him.
Give it to him.
He can make all the difference.
Excuse me.
He will make all the difference.
So I want to challenge you today to make all the difference.
I want to challenge you today if you have not made him Lord.
We would love to lead you in the prayer.
In that prayer.
In that moment where you go from belief to confession.
We would love to do that.
And the great thing about this is just like God did for me.
When you come to know him, you get a brand new family.
That you can now do this life with.
So this idea that you make this decision and now you are on your own is a lie.
It is a lie from the pit of hell.
No, you have a brand new family that will embrace you, that will love you, that will walk with you for the rest of your life.
This is the kingdom of God.
This is what it means to make him Lord.
If you are here today and you have made him Lord, but maybe you have not been living like he is Lord.
And you say, "Pastor, I want to recommit my life to Jesus.
I turned away, but I want.
I want to repent and I want to make a turn away from the life that I was living and go back to him."
The great thing about God is God has never moved.
He says, "I'm right here.
I stand at the door and knock."
So if you would like to recommit your life to Christ, then we would love to pray with you as you walk through that as well.
Lastly, if you're here and you just need prayer.
Something that you need.
God to intervene on.
Maybe there's a specific need that you have.
Maybe you're looking for a breakthrough in a particular area.
We would love to pray with you.
Every Sunday, we're here at eight o'clock and we're talking about the testimonies and the things that God has done in our lives and in others' lives.
Why?
Because we believe in the power of prayer and we believe in God being God in your life.
So if either of these things apply to you, salvation, recommitment, or you need prayer, our altar team is to my left, to your right, along the black wall.
We would love the opportunity to pray with you and pray for you.
Whatever it is that your need to get to, I promise you, it'll still be there when you get to it.
I promise you.
But this thing, this decision, this moment could change your life forever.
So if either of those things apply to you, grab your backpack, grab your purse, grab your Bible, grab your pen, your pad, and make your way down to our prayer team.
This could mean everything.
Don't wait.
We're going to close.
We're going to pray.
And I want to encourage you to make a decision that could change everything.
Don't let the enemy rob you of this.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word that you've spoken today.
I thank you, God, for the hearts that you're ministering to right now, God.
I thank you, Lord, that this changes everything.
I thank you for overflowing generosity in our heart.
I thank you for the opportunity of people to make you Lord of their life and recommit their life to you.
God, I thank you for the testimonies of healing and restoration.
I thank you for the restoration and wholeness that will take place today here at this altar.
We honor you.
We praise you.
We love you.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
God bless you.
We love you.
We can't wait to see you again next week.
And don't forget, live limitless.
God bless.
"There are some things that I got to get off of you because I can't pour the new things I have for you into the old you. So I'm creating a new you so that I can pour the new wine into you." [00:17:03] (16 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
"How can you not be generous when all, when you understand and recognize how much you've been given? When you understand and recognize how generous God has been to you, that makes no sense for someone who has so much to then not give." "Generosity wasn't just something that they did. Generosity was who they were. And generosity is who we are. We are generous. We have to lean into the transformative power of generosity." [01:20:44] (29 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
"Our generosity is a response to God's indescribable gift. To us. I pray that we would see our lives through the lens of generosity. That we would see how much we've been given." [01:22:06] (21 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
"It doesn't matter what's going on in this life. It doesn't matter what the stock market says. It doesn't matter what the news says. We don't change. We are generous." [01:24:11] (14 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
"Stir up generosity on the inside of us that people will want to know the God that we serve. And as a result of our generosity, that they would give thanksgiving to God." [01:25:42] (14 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
"God, thank you for the opportunity to give. I thank you for those that gave out of generosity. I thank you for those that gave out of the little that they have. And even those that didn't have to give today, Lord, I pray that you would bless them all." [01:35:14] (16 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
