Finding Peace: Navigating Stress Through Faith

Devotional

Day 1: Distinguishing Stress from Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are often confused, but they are distinct experiences. Stress is typically a response to external pressures, such as work deadlines, family responsibilities, or financial concerns. It is a natural reaction to challenges and can sometimes be beneficial in motivating us to take action. Anxiety, on the other hand, is an internal struggle, often characterized by persistent worry and fear that may not be directly linked to any specific external threat. Understanding the difference between stress and anxiety is crucial for addressing each appropriately. By recognizing these distinctions, we can seek God's guidance in managing them, allowing us to respond with wisdom and faith. [31:20]

"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22, ESV)

Reflection: Identify a current stressor in your life. How can you differentiate it from anxiety, and what steps can you take today to seek God's guidance in managing it?

Day 2: The Journey Through Stress

Stress often follows a progression through various stages: shock, sorrow, struggle, surrender, sanctification, and service. Initially, we may feel overwhelmed by unexpected events, leading to sorrow and deep sadness. In the struggle phase, we might question God and life, sometimes blaming others or ourselves. However, the key to overcoming stress lies in surrendering to God, trusting Him to guide us through our trials. This surrender leads to sanctification, where God uses our struggles to teach and shape us, ultimately preparing us for service, where we can use our experiences to help others. Each stage offers an opportunity for growth and deeper reliance on God. [43:00]

"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." (1 Peter 5:10, ESV)

Reflection: Reflect on a recent challenge you faced. Which stage of stress are you currently in, and how can you invite God into this process to guide you toward growth and service?

Day 3: Surrendering to God

True peace comes from surrendering our struggles to God and trusting Him to work in our lives. This surrender is not a sign of weakness but a pathway to healing and experiencing God's peace. When we let go of our need to control every aspect of our lives, we open ourselves to God's transformative power. Trusting in God's plan allows us to navigate life's challenges with a sense of peace and purpose, knowing that He is working for our good even when we cannot see it. [16:00]

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV)

Reflection: What is one area of your life where you find yourself holding back from surrendering to God? What would surrendering this area to Him actually look like in terms of daily habits?

Day 4: Sanctification Through Struggles

God uses our struggles to sanctify us, teaching us valuable lessons and shaping us into who He wants us to be. Our challenges are not prisons but schools for growth. Through the process of sanctification, we learn to rely on God's strength rather than our own, and we become more like Christ in our character and actions. This transformation is a lifelong journey, and each struggle we face is an opportunity for God to refine us and draw us closer to Him. [21:00]

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." (James 1:2-3, ESV)

Reflection: Think of a recent struggle you have faced. How has God used this experience to teach you and shape your character? How can you embrace this process of sanctification with joy?

Day 5: Finding Purpose in Service

Our experiences and pain can be used to help others. Finding purpose in our struggles allows us to serve others and find fulfillment beyond personal pleasure. When we use our experiences to empathize with and support others, we become vessels of God's love and grace. This service not only benefits those we help but also brings us a deeper sense of purpose and joy. By focusing on how we can serve others, we align ourselves with God's mission and find meaning in our own lives. [22:51]

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10, ESV)

Reflection: Reflect on a past struggle that you have overcome. How can you use the lessons learned from this experience to serve and support someone else today?

Sermon Summary

Taking a deep breath, I reflect on the message shared today, which was a heartfelt exploration of stress and its impact on our lives. We began by acknowledging that stress is an inevitable part of life, often stemming from external pressures like the economy, family issues, or health concerns. However, it's crucial to differentiate between stress and anxiety, as stress is external, while anxiety is an internal struggle. We delved into the anatomy of stress, understanding that it often follows a progression from shock to sorrow, struggle, surrender, sanctification, and finally, service.

In the shock phase, we are overwhelmed by unexpected events, leading us to sorrow, where we may feel deep sadness or depression. The struggle phase is where we question God and life, often blaming others or ourselves. However, the key to overcoming stress lies in surrendering to God, trusting Him to guide us through our trials. This surrender leads to sanctification, where God uses our struggles to teach and shape us, ultimately preparing us for service, where we can use our experiences to help others.

Throughout this journey, we are reminded that while we cannot control the external pressures of life, we can control our response. By turning to God and others, worshiping, focusing on eternity, and trusting in God's plan, we can navigate through stress with peace and purpose. The ultimate solution lies in having an eternal perspective, understanding that God is working in ways we may not see, and that our true hope is in the life to come.

1) "I love church. You know, it's not that I have to go. It's I get to go. Amen. Enjoy beautiful folks like all of y'all. Wish you guys were here. You could enjoy all this too, man. We have a lot of fun. You know, this is not a very starched church, you know, where you have to wear a suit and tie. And I noticed it was a little wet. I just thought that was a style. I don't know. ha, ha, ha, Awesome. Hey, y'all. How are y'all? Good. What a day, huh? This is a day the Lord has made. What are we going to do? We'll rejoice and be glad in it. Amen. Amen. I'm rejoicing. I hope you all are too." [10:18] (50 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2) "So this brings me to a question. Why are we under so much stress? Well, I have a real easy, simple answer. And it's almost comical. It's always something. Amen? It's always something. It seems like every time you put out one fire, another one pops up. I remember when I was in the corporate world, I was a fixed operations director, or that's a glorified name for a service director for GM dealerships. Man, you might as well just put a fire hat on because that's all you did was stamp out fires. You know? And it would create stress. This was before I was in my BC days." 3) "The truth is, is you're either coming out of a problem or you're in a problem or you're headed into a problem. Well, pastor, can't you give us something more positive? Sure. I'm positive. Life is going to bring stress on you. Amen. Someone said, why is that? Why doesn't God do something? Why doesn't he get more involved? The truth is we live on a planet earth. That is broken. It's broken by sin. And I tell you what you got to understand God created this planet as a paradise, a perfect planet. But then what happened? Sin came in and destroyed it." 4) "So the real solution that we need to look at or understand is the real solution is eternity. He's on a rescue mission for his church. But in the meantime, while we're waiting to be rescued, we have to navigate. We have to live through, we have to endure this place called earth. Amen. With all of its sin and all of its brokenness and all of its unrighteousness. It's all around us. So let me begin first of all, by defining stress. Basically what stress, stress, what stress is, is, is when the pressures, excuse me, when pressures of life is greater than your capacity to endure it. That equals stress." 5) "I can't control what happens to me. But with God's help, I can choose my response. So I can't control everything in my life. Things come at me that we have no control of. And that bothers me because I'm kind of a control freak. I like to control things. But the thing about it is, is I get a little upset because there's a lot of things I can't control. But with God's help, I can navigate through it. I can have a different response when it comes on me. Amen. So And that's what I want to give you this morning." 6) "When life falls apart, don't run from God and people. Run to God and people. Run to them. Even if you don't feel like it. Amen? I have a personal, a personal discipline that I want to share with you. And that is when I, when I have to go, when I go through something that's, that's, that's like when I get bad news, which I get bad news from time to time, the phone will ring. It's either church family or somebody out in the family. My phone rang this morning early and it was a jail. Well, listen, two o'clock in the morning, I'm in the jail. There ain't nothing I can do for you." [56:08] (45 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

7) "Worship reminds me of how much bigger my God is than what I am facing. Amen? You may be facing a situation. You've prayed, you've given it to God, but you continue to just want to hang on to some of it. But yet you're saying, God, you need to help me through this. What are you going to do about this situation? My answer to that is, he's already done everything he's going to do. He gave you Jesus. He gave you his word. He gave you his Holy Spirit. He still moves in your life. Amen? But we need to learn how to respond. Amen?" [01:01:34] (41 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

8) "When I choose to trust God, I am on the pathway to peace. Amen? This is a real pathway to real peace. And it's not when all my situations work out just the way I want them to work out. That's not when it happens. It's when I know God is at work in my life. Amen? And I promise if you'll do that, man, you'll make it through in Jesus' name. Amen? Okay. Now, I think there's a teaching in church that's missing. Let me rephrase that. I think there's a teaching missing in the church. And that is the theology of suffering." 9) "My situation isn't a jail that imprisons me. It's a school that shapes me. Shapes me into who God wants me to be. Amen. Most people when you ask them around here when you ask them what is your greatest life lesson. They're not going to tell you about any time that everything worked out just the way they expected it. They're going to tell you their greatest struggle. And how God faithfully worked in their life and brought them through it. And what they learned from it. Amen." 10) "I can't control what's going on around my life. But I can run to God and others. Okay. I can't control what's going on in my life. But I can worship. Amen. I can't control what's going on in my life. But I can focus on eternity. Knowing that there's something better. Amen. I can't control what's going on around my life. But I can trust God. I'm going to trust God. Because I know he's going to bring me through this. Amen. I can't control what's going on around me. But I can learn from my life situation. Amen. I can learn I'm going to be okay. Finally. I can't control what's going on around me. But I can use my pain to help others. Yes you can. Yes I can." They took my... I happened to remember to turn my mic on out of my hand. So they said, just leave it on and we'll take care of it back there. Amen. Good to see everybody. Yeah, it makes it a whole lot easier on me. I just have to get up. Now it's Gary's problem. Amen.

Hey, Nick, how are you? Hey, ladies. Good to see y'all. Y'all going to sit over here with your family? I love church. Ha, ha, ha. Awesome.

Well, let's do our tithes and offerings. I got a brand new series that I'm starting today. Let me tell you. Normally, on Mondays, I go outside on my back porch and I watch the deer and I watch my dog chase the deer as I'm listening to praise and worship music, reading the word, just having a good old time out there.

So I went inside to go prepping for my message today. And the Lord said, you're not doing that one today. Oh, really? Really. So what am I doing? And he led me into an area that I've never preached before. So I had zero notes. You know, normally I have outline and notes and all that, you know, and it makes sermon prep fairly easy.

Well, I spent Monday, sent Cricket to California, Colorado, spent all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday. Matter of fact, I didn't even get Wednesday prepped. And I had Brother Bob. He called me up. Oh, no, I called him. And he called me back. I said, hey, Cricket said you had a great idea for Wednesday since we did our vision service or vision casting service Sunday. There's really not, you know, any study thing in that. And he goes, yeah, the idea was... He told me what the idea was. I thought, man, that's fantastic. Why don't you take the next few hours, prep something and bring it on Wednesday? And he goes, that's what I get for opening up my big mouth.

But how many knows Bob is a prep preparer? He came in with four or five pages of hand-type notes. And I tell you what, Bob, you did very good. You did awesome. Absolutely. You know, we are building a teaching team here, which you'll be seeing over the next couple of months. Not just me, but three other preachers that we have in the house. So it's going to be great.

But with that, let's take our tithes and offerings. You know, it's another way that we get to worship. If you have your tithes and offerings, just hold them up. Let me pray over them.

Father, we just give you praise. We give you glory. Father, we thank you for our time together today. We thank you for the worship team as their message of music comes out and brings us into a worship. A worship where we elevate you higher than anything else. And I thank you for that, Father. And I thank you for our time together to where we can worship, we can study the word, fellowship, and just have a wonderful day. Because your presence is here. And your spirit flows and touches the hearts of people.

I thank you for all things today, Lord God. And I thank you for the tithes and offerings. Those who call AHC their home, who support us financially. I thank you for each and every one of them, Father. And I thank you that you take every dollar and you increase it to enable us to continue accomplishing the vision that you've given to us, which is being a place of hope, salvation, and restoration.

Father, I thank you for that. And I thank you for all the good things. For your word says, all good and perfect gifts come from above. And they come from you. And we thank you for that, Father. Lord, we just give you all the praise and we give you glory. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen.

Let's rehearse over this. We are prospering in every area of our lives. Spirit, soul, and body. We sow in faith and we reap in joy. We will have more than enough to meet every need, to pay every debt, and to be a big, big blessing to a lot of people. We're not running out. We're running over in Jesus' name.

Go ahead. Thank you for that. Thank you for your love.

Well, Father, we just come to you in the name of Jesus and we thank you for this morning. We thank you for this day. We thank you for your presence, Father. Lord, we just give you all the glory. We give you all the praise. We worship you, Lord. Worship you, Lord. You do deserve all the glory. You deserve it all, Father. And we thank you for it. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Father.

The Lord has spoken. Turn me down the speakers. Let y'all be seated. That was fantastic. You can't beat that at all. That was not planned. Thank you, guys. Man, y'all are awesome. Did y'all hear that?

Yeah, yeah. Oh my goodness. I will say that's the first time that's ever happened to me like that.

You're very welcome. You need to change your voice, though. Lord, you're not a female.

Isn't that great? Oh, your phone did it too. Oh no, this one said God. Wow, that was Siri. The Holy Spirit working through Siri. Amen. Tell me any inanimate objects can't be right on time. That's hilarious. I'm glad that's recorded. I can't wait to go back and listen to this tomorrow morning. That's funny.

I would say I'm speechless, but I'm not. I'm just kind of caught up in this moment. This was... Hey, sure does, doesn't he?

I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.

That's the... That's it. It's perfect.

Hey, that's good. I want that. I want that. I want that.

Praise you, Lord. Amen.

I just want to welcome all of y'all here today. I'm still reeling about that. That was hilarious. No, it hadn't. Not to me, anyway. It might have happened to somebody else, but not me.

I want to welcome all of y'all here today, man. All you online, y'all missed it. You might have heard it, but y'all missed it. Y'all should have been here. Tell me church ain't fun. Huh? Huh? This is why we get to come to church, to have fun with Jesus. Amen?

Amen. To study His Word. Worship. Woo! Man, I tell you what.

Well, today, I'm starting a new series. The title of that series is, "Can We Talk About It?" And it's like, hmm, what are we going to talk about? I'm glad you asked. I got five topics for five weeks. Okay? And I got a PowerPoint for you.

Okay? Okay? I'm going to show you the five topics that we're going to cover this next five weeks. Did I give you that? Okay. Yeah, go ahead and put it up there.

We're going to talk about stress, spiritual warfare, anxiety, forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit. These are some of the things that I hear a lot of people asking about.

And I think I told you, but man, I was studying Monday to prepare. Because I was headed into faith and confession is where I was headed. Okay? I mean, I had outlines set up. I had messages set up, about five of them, four or five of them. And man, all of a sudden, I'm like, yeah, this is going to work. And I'm putting together, and I'm studying, and going through scripture. And God says, nope, you're not preaching that. This is what you're going to preach.

And I believe the reason why is because we have a lot of people, maybe not here, but may be here. But I know there's a lot of people online. Online, out in the world, in other churches, in other bodies, that they're having a problem with today. With what's going on. You know? With stress.

And so today, my first subject is stress. But when you look at that list, you see stress and anxiety on there. And a lot of people think stress and anxiety are the same thing. But what I want to do is I want to go to them in a different way and show you the difference between the two.

As a matter of fact, this is what I believe stress means, or is. I think stress is the external forces, all right? You with me? That puts pressure onto you. So it's external. And there's pressure that comes onto you. Things like the economy, or family matters, or finances, or healing, or whatever it may be. Okay? Some outward, outside pressures creating stress onto you.

Okay, then what's anxiety? Well, I'm glad you asked. Things are going on the outside are going fairly well. But you're struggling on the inside. Are you with me?

And I think that that Sunday is the perfect Sunday to bring somebody. Every Sunday is good for this. But I think that Sunday, anxiety Sunday, is going to be the perfect time to bring somebody who's far from God to sit with you and to learn. Okay? Because I believe all of us need to understand these five topics.

And so, many people are dealing with stress. Anybody ever deal with stress? Just about every hand should raise. Amen?

So this brings me to a question.

This was before I was in my BC days. But what I find is, as we're trying to get through this, as we're trying to put out these fires, as we have these external factors coming in and attacking on us, there's a lot of them that's out of our control. You ever notice that?

So what I want to do is I wanted to bring a message around of what do you do when you're in the middle of a struggle, when you're in the middle of all these factors, all these outside pressures pressuring on you. What do we do?

Now, we know that some of our stresses, some of these things are self-induced by choices that we make. We'll talk about that a little bit, but the majority of our stress that comes on to us is in outside things that we have no control over.

But you got to understand it may be hard right now in some people's lives. And I want to give you some ways to overcome. Amen.

See, the truth is, you're either coming out of a problem or you're in a problem or you're headed into a problem.

Well, pastor, can't you give us something more positive? Sure. I'm positive. Life is going to bring stress on you. Amen.

Someone said, why is that? Why doesn't God do something? Why doesn't he get more involved? The truth is we live on a planet earth that is broken. It's broken by sin. And I tell you what you got to understand God created this planet as a paradise, a perfect planet. But then what happened? Sin came in and destroyed it.

So somebody else might ask, why doesn't God do something about that? The answer to that is he did. He gave us his son, Jesus Christ, to die for us. And we have to die on the cross to pay for all of our sins to give us another life. Amen. Another life in Christ.

And when we have biblical principles, then we can go through these stressful situations with the right response. See, sometimes what we do is we just react to the pressure. That doesn't get us anywhere. We need to learn how to respond. And we need to learn how to respond with something.

It's different because you got to understand the enemy knows he's been around a while, right? He's messed around with a few people, right? And he sees you for an illustration. He sees you like a Coke machine or a soda pop machine. I call it Coke, whether it's Sprite or anything else. You want Coke? Here, have a Dr. Pepper, you know?

Anyway, but he sees you like a soda pop machine and he looks at your button. And if you go put your money in a Coke machine and you push Coke, what do you get? You get Coke. Right? What he does is he comes up to you. He sees you and goes, Hmm, look at their anger. He pushes it. That's those outside pressures coming on you. Amen.

Economy woes. And what he does is we give a response that he's expecting anger. Get angry. Okay. So what we've got to learn is when these pressures come, when these buttons get pushed, we have a total different response than what he's expecting or what the world is expecting, right?

So we've got to look at something else that another reason why people ask, well, why doesn't God, you know, do anything about what's going on on this earth? And it's like, listen, does do things on this earth. He does. He does things in our lives, but you got to see that ultimately Jesus's plan is an escape plan. He's coming back.

So that we, we can escape all of this and go back to a paradise. And so we've got to see that we've got to have a, a, a eternal perspective. God, Jesus said in this world, you will have tribulations. You will have troubles, but he said, take heart. I've overcome the world. Amen.

So the real solution that we need to look at or understand is the real solution is eternity.

Basically what stress is, is when the pressures of life is greater than your capacity to endure it. That equals stress.

Was that on the... Yeah, there it is. Cool. So I've got some good news and I got some bad news. And when I think about good news and bad news, it reminds me of a Boudreau story. Of course.

So Boudreau goes to a doctor. He says, Doc, I ain't feeling very good. I ain't been feeling good for days, weeks, months. Doctor said, okay, let's run some tests. They ran some tests on him. The doctor in a few weeks calls him back. He says, Boudreau, I got some good news and I got some bad news. Boudreau said, well, give me the good news first.

Doctor says, you got 24 hours to live. Boudreau goes, whoa, wait a minute, my Lord, that's the good news. What's the bad news? I tried to call you yesterday.

Okay. Boudreau's a great man, isn't he? So I've got some good news and I got some bad news for you. And I want to give you the bad news first. The definition of stress is not going to change. It's always that formula. You are in control of some things that can cause you stress. And some of our stresses are self-induced, as I said. But the vast majority of them are not. They're out of your control.

So how can we change our capacity to endure the pressures? Good question, isn't it? Well, the good news is that's the business that God is in. Amen?

Okay. The Bible says in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who what? Strengthens me. And you got to understand when Paul wrote this, Paul was in a prison cell. And I guarantee it wasn't a happy prison cell. Okay.

And so while he's pinning this, he has a thought. I can make it through this, but God, I'm going to need your help to be able to do it. Amen.

So my first, my next title that I want to show you is I can't control what happens to me.

Amen.

So, and that's what I want to give you this morning. We're actually going to leave today with six responses that you can use, all of them, some of them. When stress, when pressure comes upon you, when situations arise, then you can go into these responses that I'm going to give you today. And if you pray about it, God will show you what this is a response you need to do. You need to do this, do this. He will guide you. That's what the Holy Spirit does, right?

So when you're in a struggle, when you're in stress, I promise you, God will help you get through it in Jesus' name.

Now over the years, I've learned what I like to call the anatomy of stress. And that is the progression or the stages of a struggle in your life.

Now, this is not something that I got from God. It's something that God led me to, Pastor Rick Warren, who went through a bad situation in his life. And he came up with this teaching. Let me show you the anatomy of struggles. And it starts with shock, followed with sorrow, struggle, surrender, sanctification, and service.

We're going to define all of those here in a little bit. So Pastor Rick Warren went through a situation where he, one of the worst situations that I think you could, a parent could ever experience. And that was, he lost a son. His son took his own life because, and he was dealing with a mental illness for quite a while, but he navigated through all of these six things that came upon him. And as he did, he made notes and he brought, he made this teaching and then he shared the teaching. And I found it.

So I believe that this is one of the most impactful teachings that you can learn today because our world isn't getting better right now. Amen.

So that when you go through a struggle, you know that there's this first part, which is the shock phase or the shock factor, which is, I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe this has happened to me or to you or to this or to that.

My refrigerator just blew up and leaked everything and all my venison is gone. Heath goes, oh, would produce a little stress, wouldn't it? I can't believe this has happened.

I've had this experience in my shop. I hadn't been in there for a few days and I walked to my shop and it's like, and looked on the floor and there was just blood everywhere. And I went, oh, and opened up my fridge, my freezer, and all of my venison was dead and gone. Well, it was already dead, but now it's rotted. It's gone. It ain't no good.

I had to use muriatic acid to get that blood off my floor. That's how bad it was because it crisped, it dried up. It was bad. It stunk for days, weeks, months. I was shocked. I can't believe this has happened to me.

And it leads me to the next phase, which is suffering. Sorrow. Okay. In other words, you become deeply depressed. You become sad. You might even cry about the situation. I didn't cry, but I sure was sad. All my meat was gone.

Then you go into the struggle phase where you get mad and angry. You start asking questions. Huh? Why did this happen? Why didn't somebody do something about this? God, how come you didn't do something about this? All my meat is gone. You see?

So you begin to question life and you begin to question God. Now there's struggles that are a whole lot worse than losing your venison almost. But that was pretty bad.

But then if you keep searching for God, you can change. You can start flipping the situation and you move into a surrender phase. A surrender phase is where you say, okay, I'm going to give up. I'm going to give it all to God and I surrender to you. I don't know how you're going to work this out, but I know I can trust you.

By the way, I called my insurance company and my insurance company said, about how much meat did you lose? I called my taxidermist. I said, how much was all that meat that I had in there? He told me. I went, oh my goodness. So I called the insurance company. They didn't even hold out a deductible. They said, we can't cover what caused the loss of the meat, but we'll cover all your meat.

So I got my money back. I still didn't have any venison, but I got the money back. Okay. So what happens is, is we surrender to God and trust God and allow God to help us in our situation.

And then this leads us to a sanctification phase. The sanctification phase is when you realize that God is trying to teach you something. Maybe not trying, but going to teach you something through the struggle, through the situation, through the situation. Amen.

And then, and this is where I want everybody to get to, you move into the service plan, the service phase, which is, now I take my pain of losing all my venison and I go help somebody else who's experiencing the same struggle. Are you with me?

Okay. So, now, in all six of these, there's these I can do statements that I want to give you. These are the six phrases that I'm going to give you that will help you when you have your, when you find yourself in a struggle.

So, I truly believe that if these are in your personal toolbox, these six responses on how to respond to a struggle, to a stress, to a situation, okay, that I promise you, you'll make it through it in Jesus' name. Amen.

Now, I passed out note sheets. I didn't, but we passed out note sheets because I believe this, we do this almost every Sunday anyway, but I believe it's very important to have these notes as we go through these five topics. You'll have it, you can build your little book on this on can we talk about it.

You guys online, if you're watching via my website, which is in the app or in the app, then you can do one of two things. You can either download the PDF copy, which is what I give out, or you can open up another window on your device by pressing the other link and it'll open up a digital copy of it that you can fill in the blanks, save it, archive it, use it when you find yourself going through a struggle. Amen?

Are we ready? Right, here we go. Number one, shock. Shock. In the shock phase, it's when you go, I just can't believe this has happened. You're overwhelmed by the situation. Whatever it may be, you can't help but be overwhelmed.

Years ago, my dear friend, Billy Godfrey, he was my best friend. I met him when he shot me with a spitwad when we were 11 years old on the bus and I said, if you do it again, I'm going to get off this bus at your stop and I'm going to whoop you.

He took the full sheet of paper, chewed it all up, got it all nice and soggy, stuck it in his straw, turned it around, aimed right at me and shot me with it after I warned him. I got off the bus at his bus stop. His bus stop was a few blocks from my house. I was on top of him, and I was going to beat him to death, just like I said, and all of a sudden, somebody grabbed me by the back of the shirt and my belt and picked me up.

Remember, we're 11 years old, and it was June Godfrey, his mama. Yeah, I didn't make it home before my folks found out, too. Billy and I became friends, best friends after that. You ever notice how you whoop somebody, you kind of become a friend with them? Maybe they just don't get whooped again. I don't know what it was, but he and I were partners in crime. We did all kinds of things.

We grew up together. He went to the Army. I went to the Air Force. He was in the Army eight years. I was in the Air Force four years. I got out. A few years later, he contacted me. He was living in Garland. I was in Denton, and I'd go see him because I was working for General Motors, so I'd go to the Garland school, and I'd go see him. He'd hang out.

Long story short, they lost a child, drowned in Grandma's swimming pool. It was a bad situation, and it created, as you can imagine, a struggle in their life. She eventually, they eventually got pregnant again, but they divorced, and Billy went into the bottle. I didn't know all of this. We had many years went by that I didn't hear from him, see him, or talk with him, and one day when the boat races were going on, I used to drive the handicap carts to bring the handicap in, so I had an all-access pass for free. It was awesome.

Well, we were getting things set up, and a dude come walking up, and I looked at him. He was a heavyset guy. I'm leaning on my truck, and he walks up, and I look at him and said, this guy's familiar. Hopefully, this isn't one of the skeletons in my closet. I had a lot of them, and I thought I dealt with them all, and all of a sudden, I think, here's another one coming.

Because he was staring at me. He's leaning on the other side of my pickup truck. There's a few other people standing there. We're talking about the events, and he came over, and he started to walk around the truck. He said, are you from Southridge in Denton, Texas? I went, hmm. I set my water down, and he's coming around. He said, is your birthday in June?

Okay, now we're getting ready. Skeleton, right? You ever been there? He said, do you know, I knew your wife before you did? Whoa! And Al Kolak, he passed away, too. He was standing there. He went, oh, my goodness. He backed way off because he knew me. I was a fairly violent person.

But anyway, I looked at him. I said, and I noticed the eyes. He had these piercing blue eyes. I said, Billy Godfrey. God gave me a year with him, and he died. He died of cirrhosis of the liver. The alcohol killed him. 51 years old. It kicked me in the gut like a mule, you know.

And so that struggle started. And my first response is leave me alone. I don't want to be, I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to talk. I want to be alone. I want to be isolated. Amen. None of that is all bad. But for some of y'all, some of y'all out there, you've gone through something that's been difficult, and you've stayed in the isolation.

You're in a place that even though there's a lot of people around, you've got yourself alone with your thoughts and with your pain. And that's a very dangerous place to be. Isolation prolonged is not good for any one person. As a matter of fact, many are dealing with issues right now, life issues that have just come on them, but they're dealing with it by themselves. And that is extremely dangerous.

But one of the can-do statements that I want to give you is a biblical principle. It's a biblical truth, and I want to show it to you. It's found in Ecclesiastes chapter 4. It says, two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.

Look at the next one. But pity anyone who falls. And I would say this to anyone in the sound of my voice. If you're a person going through a struggle like this, a depression and all these things that I'm showing you today, and you're doing it by yourself, stop. Come out of it. And I'm going to show you how to do that here in just a minute.

Okay? Because I'm afraid that if people get into that, and they build this world around them, this wall around them, that where they're isolated with their thoughts and their pain and all the things that's going on, they may never make it out of it. There's a thing called mental illness that will develop from there. Or can.

Okay? So it says, but pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. So here's the truth I want to give you. It says, when life falls apart, don't run from God and people. Run to God and people. Run to them. Even if you don't feel like it. Amen?

I have a personal discipline that I want to share with you.

There ain't nothing I can do for you. I'm sorry. In the morning after church, call me back and now we'll see what we can do. I'm sorry. You got yourself in the jailhouse and there ain't nothing I can do at two o'clock in the morning. You ever been to jail? There was nothing I could do at two o'clock in the morning but sleep. Maybe.

Okay. Anyway. So my discipline is, is when I go, when something like this happens to me, the first thing I do is I find somebody to talk to. And that somebody is my wife and she's the same way. You know, Monday when she got the phone call that her uncle that they knew was sick was now not doing good. The first thing she did was talk to her mama and to me.

And that's where she is now. She's in northern. Well, now they're already back. They're heading back into Texas today. But they went up there to console the family so that nobody is alone in this situation. You know.

Okay. Yes, sir. Absolutely. The question was for you guys out there is when we turn to somebody, make sure it's somebody that is of faith. Okay? Somebody who has like faith, like thoughts, like actions, like confessions. Okay? You don't want to just turn to somebody in the world because that's not going to work.

You know. If you have a spouse, that's the one you turn to. If you have a close friend and they're saved, they're of faith. That's what I'm talking about. Thank you, Heath.

Okay. So we just can't be alone with our thoughts. Here's a second phrase or the second phase of a struggle or stresses. And that is number two, sorrow. This is when we just get depressed.

Let me add. Shock is a human emotion. But always remember, God can never be shocked. Because he knows it. He knows everything. But sorrow is a godly emotion. The Bible talks about Jesus when Lazarus was dead and he heard about it. What did the Bible say? Jesus wept. Amen.

Isaiah 53:3 says, He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Talking about Jesus. Amen. So grief is not all bad. As a matter of fact, you need to grieve. You need to grieve healthily.

Okay. Sometimes when I have, when I go see somebody who's in grief, who's lost somebody and they're crying and they tell me, hey, I'm sorry, we're crying. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You don't have to apologize to me. Grief is good. You missed them. You loved them. Cry. It's okay. You don't want to hold it in. Just let it come out. Amen.

Okay. But there is a stage of grief that's not any good. And that is when it becomes overwhelming. I've seen this in people. They don't get over it. And for the rest of their life, they spend grieving over a lost parent, spouse, child, whatever. It's not a bad, it's not a good place to be because they've been overwhelmed and they can't live their life like they were supposed to. They become perpetually sad. They become perpetually depressed.

If that's anybody in the sound of my voice, I want to pray with you. I want to help you. Psalm 61 says this. Hear my cry, O God. Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth, I will cry to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me when your heart is overwhelmed. What do you do? Lead me to the rock that's higher than I. And we know who the rock is, right? That'd be Jesus.

So the next question is, how do we get to the rock? Pretty good question, I think. So this is what I want to offer you. How do you get the rock to the rock that's higher than you? That's where worship comes in. When you worship God, what are you doing? You're just not knowing him. You're not just praying to him. You're worshiping. You're elevating him.

And when you elevate him, you're elevating him above your struggle, above your situation, above the circumstances, above the stress that's pressuring you. Let me say it this way. Worship reminds me of how much bigger my God is than what I am facing.

Amen? I mean, I've been in this situation. And when I turn on my music, whether it be in my truck or in my house at my office. For an example, one time I was going through something and I was in my truck and I just turned on the worship music. And what came on was, all of my life, you have been faithful.

And right then something just hit me. It's like, oh, my goodness. So I started singing a song and I started declaring, all my life, you have been faithful. You will be faithful always. And you will be faithful in this situation that I'm facing.

And I'm telling you, when you do that, man, all of a sudden, some life will come into you. Your heart will be lifted up. And the problem seems this small because you've elevated God above it. I'm telling you, worship is the way to go.

So when something's going to happen to me, I'm not. I'm going to call someone, right? Someone godly, someone that you know that is saved. So I'm not going to be alone. And what am I going to do? I'm going to get in my truck or in my office or my headphones or whatever it is. And I'm going to worship. Amen.

Because I keep reminding myself how much bigger God is than anything that I might be going through. Amen.

Number three, struggle. Struggle. So when you're in the struggle stage of stress or a problem or circumstance, this is where you start asking questions. You've gone from sad to mad. Ever been there? I have.

Now you're even questioning God. God, why did this happen? Why didn't you do something? How come you didn't move my life? How could you let this happen to me? You ever said that? I've questioned God.

This is where you start blaming somebody else. Well, it was his fault. He unplugged my freezer. I'm picking on you. It's okay.

I love it when I see Bible greats complaining in the Bible. Look at Jeremiah, what he was doing. Why was I born? Was it only to have troubles and sorrow? Huh? To end my life in disgrace? Huh? A disgrace? He was having a bad beard day. I'm telling you.

Those with beards will understand that. You wake up in the morning and your beard is just all... Gary, that ever happen to you? Always. Every morning, right? Yeah. You don't care about the hair. It's that beard, man. We got to comb it back out. I'm telling you, it's bad. Every morning.

But even Jesus, when he was on the cross, questioned God. Jesus made seven statements when he was on the cross. And this statement, I think, was the fourth statement. And it's found in Matthew 27. It says, about three in the afternoon, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, Eli, Eli. Which means, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Isn't that amazing? I love how the Bible allows us to see not only the divinity of our God, but also the humanity of our God. That even Jesus, you ready for this? Questioned the Father. Questioned God.

And so when you're going through a struggle, and you get to that phase where you're starting to question God, questioning life, wondering why is all this going on, you need to understand that on this side of heaven, there are some things that you're not going to understand. There are some things you're not going to know.

That's why we have a generation today, a generation of people that are questioning everything. Deconstructing God. Saying things. Well, I'm going to make my own God my way. Let me tell you what. That's not a good place to be. Amen? Very dangerous.

But what is the can-do statement when you find yourself struggling with God, why is this? When you find yourself questioning things. There's a good can-do, right? Well, here's the key. Remember, God is at work in ways that you probably will, won't see, maybe never see. Amen?

Because he's always working on our behalf. He's working in areas that we can't see. We talk about this on our Tuesday prayer. Where God reveals to us at times, hey man, I'm doing this. I'm doing this. I'm doing this. I'm working here. I'm working here.

The Spirit's starting to be poured out. Get ready. Get ready. You see? And that's from the months that we've been praying on Tuesdays. He's showing us these things that he is, excuse me, he is working, but we may not be seeing what he's working on. Amen?

And what I want to relate to you or offer you is something to think about. That when you don't understand, when you don't know why something's going on, if you find out why, you need to be okay with what you found out. Because God does things that we don't understand whatsoever. His ways are what? Higher than our ways. Amen?

First John talks about the first time that we actually see Jesus face to face. It's when we were in heaven. He says that our eyes will be opened and we will see everything that went on. Wouldn't that be awesome? Because all of a sudden you have the revelation. Wow. You were working here. When my meat was thawed out and lost, you worked here.

I saw that one, but I'm just saying. There are things in your life that God is working in right now. Gary Morris used to tell me, God is in your future working right now. He said he's also in your past working in your past for your future. He's taking things that's happened in your life and he's turning it around for good. Amen?

And he's preparing you for the future. He's preparing the future for you. Amen? So the thing that I have to ask is, do you believe that? Because if you don't believe it, this earth can hurt you.

Cricket and I like to watch TV in the evenings. Well, let me be honest. Ray likes to watch TV in the evenings through the night in my recliner where I start doing this at some point. Cricket sits next to me. And if it's a show that she likes, like we just started watching a new series that's been out for a long time, Lost. Wow. I mean, I've heard about it, but I don't know. I've never seen it.

So we started watching it. Well, she's not looking at her phone at all. She's watching it right there with me. I finally found a show that she'll sit there with me and watch. Normally she's on her phone until she goes, okay. And then she sleeps for a couple of hours and then all of a sudden she'll wake up. Hey, Ray, come on. Let's go to bed. And I've missed two or three episodes. You know, never happened.

Anyway. Okay. But anyway, there's another series that I got into several years ago, which was... It had already run its time. So I didn't have to wait each week for the next episode because I'm impatient like that. So I could binge. And it was 24. Jack Bauer and 24.

Anybody see that? Some of you did. Some of you didn't. Some of you young don't care about that stuff. Well, let me tell you what. Let me tell you about it real quick. This is a crazy, crazy show about an anti-terrorist unit. Okay. And what do they do? They go against terrorists. Stop them from blowing things up and killing people.

And how it's set up is you have 24 episodes in one season and each episode is real time. One hour, like from nine to 10. The next week is 10 to 11. So forth. So on through 24 hours. Okay. What's amazing to me at the end of every episode, they always... Jack Bauer is always fixing to die. If you saw the show, you know that he's got himself into some trouble and he's fixing to die.

And I don't know how they do it, but they set up a cliffhanger after every episode. But the thing about it is, you know, there's another episode, so he's not going to die. Amen. You don't know in your heart how he's going to get past it, how he's going to get out of the problem. But you know there's another episode. You know that he does. Amen.

That's how God is working. Come on. Listen. God is working. You don't know how it's going to work out. Just know in your heart it's going to work out. Amen. Because we have to give it to God, because I read the end of this book and it says that he won and I win. Amen.

He won and you win. Come on. So we got to understand. We may not know how it's going to turn out. We may not know what he's doing, but know this. There's more episodes. Amen.

Sometimes I think there's an American gospel where people think that God has obligated himself to work out everything on this earth. But the truth is, God is working things in a better way. All right. And he's not and he's doing it in heaven. That's his place. He works in our lives. But it's in our lives that he's working.

He's not working out all the stuff that's going on. You got to remember. He's in command. We're in control. We have the commands right here that if we'll do them, I won't go there. That's a whole nother topic. I'm trying to get done and I will.

Okay. There's a chapter in the Bible in Hebrews. Hebrews chapter 11. If anybody's familiar with it, great. If you're not, go read it. Every line of Hebrews 11 is about somebody and a miracle that God did in their life. Amen.

And he calls all of them people of faith. But at the end of the chapter, there happens to be some others who he called people of faith, but they had a little different outcome. Okay. For an example, let me show you a couple of them. In verse 35, Hebrews 11:35, it says, there were others who were tortured. 36, they faced jeers and flogging and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning.

These guys didn't have a very good outcome, did they? Look at this. The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground. Ha, ha, ha. These were all commended for their faith, though. But they never received the promise.

But look at verse 40. Since God had planned something better for us. Listen, church, you need to believe that God has something better for you. It will get you through your struggles. And if you don't believe that, then you're losing a tool in your spiritual toolbox for dealing with stress.

Here's my next PowerPoint. When it feels like this life is falling apart, I can remember the life to come. We have to have an eternal or eternity perspective. We have another life coming. God has got something way better for us right now.

Even when the life is falling apart. Even when the train is coming off the rails. Listen, we can keep our eyes on the eternal perspective and know that God has something better for us no matter what it looks like.

So I can't control it, but I can call somebody. I can't control it, but I can worship. And I know there's something better for me out there.

And here's number four. Surrender. Surrender. Okay. I'm going to give in. I need to let God work in my life. I need to stop doing this my way. And I need to... Okay, God. I need you.

This is the phase where you begin to heal. This is the phase where you begin to experience the peace of God. Amen? This is where Jesus made, I believe it was his seventh statement on the cross. It was after he questioned God. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

His next statement that I'm going to show you is, he says, into your hands I commit my life. And that's what Jesus did. And he modeled it for us how to do it. Proverbs talks about it. Proverbs 3. Trust the Lord with all your heart. Lay not on your own understanding, but in all your ways submit to him. And what will happen? He will make your paths straight.

See, it's a decision that I can't control all this going on around me. But I can, next PowerPoint, when I choose to trust God, I am on the pathway to peace.

And that is the theology of suffering.

Oh, y'all didn't amen that at all. There are others in the body of Christ in other countries that have it a whole lot worse than we do here. Amen?

And so I think we ought to be grateful that we are experiencing the greatest human experience as far as a Christian church can experience right here in the good old USA. Especially in Texas. Wow. Huh.

The Bible talks about suffering as much as it talks about blessings. And it also talks about how you can endure them when you're in the middle of it. And we know the pandemic was almost five years ago, right? And ever since then, there has been a lot of suffering going on in our nation.

And so I began to study it. And there's so many verses in the Bible on this theology. And what's interesting is I found the serenity prayer. Everybody knows the serenity prayer, right? Let me show it to you real quick.

God, what? Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.

But did you know that's not all of it? There's more to it. Let me show it to you. Living one day at a time. Enjoying one moment at a time. Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace. Taking as Jesus did the sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will.

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next. Amen. That's peace. That's the right perspective. That's what surrender is all about. Surrendering your life to him.

So I can't control my situations around me. That's coming at me. But I can call somebody. I'm not going to be alone. Amen. I'm going to worship. Right? I can remember eternity. And I can trust God. Amen.

So here's the fifth one. And it starts getting even better. Number five. Sanctification. God doesn't create problems. And if anybody tells you the problem you're going through he created, he did not create. He'll use it. But he didn't create it. Amen.

And when you are in a bad situation you find yourself there. Don't blame God for it. But understand that God is going to use it to teach you something. He's committed to your growth. And how you grow. Your sanctification.

And if you don't cooperate with it, then it becomes a struggle. But if you do cooperate, then you'll appreciate what he's doing in your life. The change that he's made. And now you can start saying I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Because he's going to strengthen you in the middle of what you're going through.

Because he's going to be doing some work in you. Amen. Romans 5 says this. Not only so but we also glory in our sufferings. Because we know that suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance, character. Character, hope. Oh. Isn't that awesome?

So this is where God says that he can take your loss and let it be a lesson. So that what you're dealing with can shape you into the person who he wants you to be. It's a whole different perspective than saying why am I going through this. And angry and mad and all of this.

When you can just go to these responses. Trust God and allow him to work it out in your life. Amen. My situation isn't a jail that imprisons me.

Amen.

Here's the last one. Number six. Service. Where you realize that what you've been going through you can help somebody else. Amen. That God will take my pain and use it to help somebody else.

Second Corinthians tells us praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Father of compassion. And the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received from God.

So I'm going to take my situation. I can't change it. I wish I could. But I can't change these things coming through at me. But I can help somebody else with what I'm going through. There's always a purpose to my pain.

One last story and I'm going to close up. Hey, I'm not doing so bad. I just need a few minutes more. As I was studying all this I found a Jewish Holocaust survivor by the name of Victor Frankl.

Victor Frankl was writing a manuscript for the book that he was writing. And when he was captured by the Nazis they stole the manuscripts. They burned it. They killed all his family. And he was the only survivor of his family. Okay.

When the war was over and he was released he went back to Vienna to go back to his practice. He was a psychologist. The facility was full of Holocaust survivors who were suicidal. And at the end of the story not one of his patients committed suicide.

He was at odds with another psychologist by the name of Sigmund Freud. Whose theology or whose theory was it was a pleasure theory. The more pleasure you have the more satisfied your life is. Dr. Frankl said oh no, uh-uh. No, no, no. It's not about pleasure. It's about purpose.

If you don't have any purpose then you dole your life with pleasure. Amen. In other words you're trying to fill something on the inside with something that's not intended to be there. That's why when we take vacations or sports or whatever it is that we take we think man this is going to make me happy. But it really doesn't fulfill the happiness that we want.

And that's because that's not what life has ever been about. It's about purpose. So he created a therapy that he called Logotherapy. He actually didn't create it and I'll show you why here in just a second.

But he created this. Logotherapy was made of three different things. Number one, everybody needs to have some type of meaningful work. We all work but my question is do you have meaningful work?

Number two is everybody needs a community of friends to do that work with. And number three, everybody needs to learn how to take their pain and help somebody else with it.

So actually he didn't come up with this. It's been in the Bible for thousands of years. Amen. But you need meaningful work. You need a community of friends and you need to take your pain and do something good with it.

And again not a single person died under his watch or committed suicide. That's the power of purpose. That's the power of taking I don't know what you may be going through. I don't know any of that. But I'm finding you and I got this problem that I've gone through and I want to take this and help you. Amen.

So what you do is you pray for them. You love on them. You share with them. You empathize with them. And watch the life come back into your life. Amen.

Yes. I wish I could tell you that I could make your stresses go away. I wish I could tell you the economy is going to be better. It's a possibility. Okay. It's a possibility if everybody votes correctly on November.

I'm not going to tell you how to vote. Ask me after church. I'll tell you who I'm voting for. Okay. But if the right person gets in office it's a very distinct possibility things are going to get better.

So we got these can do statements. And there's some things that I am in control of. But my decision to follow God's and God's way is what's going to get me through that struggle. Amen.

So what I'm going to do is one at a time I'm going to put them back on the screen. I'm going to close with this. And when I put it up there I want you if you believe all this I want you to say it out loud with me.

Okay. You ready? I can't control what's going on around my life.

Yes, you can. Yes, I can.

And when you're going through something, you're going to help somebody with it. And watch the peace of God fill your heart. Amen.

12:05. That wasn't too bad, was it? Huh? Y'all want some more? Don't have any more today. Y'all got everything that God gave me on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for this message.

Next week we'll talk about spiritual warfare. Oh. Oh. Oh.

Anybody got questions about spiritual warfare? Yeah? Now you're pulling the teacher out of me now. These are five topics that I think we all need to know. It really is. And the last one is my favorite. The Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let's pray. Father, we just come to you in the name of Jesus. And we just thank you for this message as it went forth. We thank you that there are nuggets imparted into our hearts. Nuggets that will help us grow into things of you. Responses. Six responses.

To the progression of stress that we can apply. And change our response. To bring us through. In Jesus' name. Thank you, Father. For your word. Thank you that you are moving in our life. Thank you that you take the things that were meant for bad. And you turn them for good.

And you give us a lesson. A life lesson out of them. That we can help other people. Father, we thank you for this. We just give you praise.

And while our heads are bowed, I just want to... There may be some people in the sound of my voice. Either here or out on the stream. That you know that your life is not really right with God. You may be a Christian. You may have never been a Christian. But you know that your life is just not in the right place with God.

Let me tell you. Today is your day. You can change that today. Because we have a Lord and Savior who's got his arms open. Who shed his blood just for you. Who's forgiven your sins and is inviting you to rejoin the family of God and be in that family.

And what I want to do, if that is you, if your life is not where it needs to be, if you feel the Holy Spirit knocking on your heart, saying open up to me, then my deal is respond. Respond to him. Let Jesus be the Lord of your life.

And so if you're feeling that this morning, whisper this little prayer with me. Jesus, I receive what you did on the cross. I'm sorry that I lived my life my way. And I repent of that. And I ask you to be the Lord of my life. The number one in my life.

And I receive the forgiveness that your blood bought for me. And I believe that you are the son of God. And I believe that you died on the cross. And you rose from the dead. And I thank you this morning that you are the Lord of my life. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

If that was anybody here or anybody out there, please let us know. We want to walk this journey with you. If you're going through a stressful situation, you're by yourself, please reach out to us. You can reach out through YouTube, Facebook. You can reach out through our website. The app.

Anyway, we want to be able to help you get through the struggle. We want to help you to be able to not be alone in your thoughts and pain. We want to help you in these areas so that you can get over whatever stresses, whatever struggle that you may be walking through today.

With that, we just want to thank everybody for being here. Thank you all for being there. If you feel led online to sow into this ministry financially, you can go by our website or our app where there's a secure giving portal. We appreciate any gift that you sow into this ministry.

We just want to say thank you all. That helped us last Sunday. Let me tell you what. It was the biggest event Abundant Heart Church has ever put on. And it was successful. I've had people that I've seen in stores saying, My goodness, what was going on at your place? I said, did you stop? You should have. There was free food.

Okay. But I just want to say thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Every item in the Redneck auction, every item in the Redneck auction was auctioned, was gone. And we raised a little more than 650. Amen.

And then there was another 300 or so that was done in donation. All of that money is going into our youth building fund. Now, yes. Yes, with that said, if you feel over and above your ties that you want to sow into that fund, you can. Dollar, $5, $100, whatever it is, $10,000, $100,000, a million?

But no, I'm kidding, not really. But anyway, if you feel like you want to sow into that fund, then you can either write a check or an envelope and just write on there, youth building fund. Okay? Because we are building that up right now.

We have a 2003 one-ton Ford van with just over 100,000 miles for sale, if you know anybody who wants one. I'll tell you after service. We're asking $6,000 for it. Okay, it's what we're asking for. Every penny of that money will go into the youth building fund.

Okay, and so thank you. We're really, as I told you in the vision statement, this next year, this upcoming year, we will be in a building project because we have to build a youth building. We have to get the youth a place to go, amen, and free up our nursery to being just a nursery in both rooms.

But yet the facility, we're planning on putting it out on the corner, out on the edge of the asphalt, as I said. And then we're also going to put a cover over this slab so that next year, when we are having our event, we got shade, amen, amen.

With that, thank you all for being here. We love you. God bless you. Have a great week. And like I said, if you are going through one of these struggles, please reach out with that.
