Um, which you said in September, uh, what day was it in September again?
17th.
17th of September when you got married.
Okay, right. So how many children have you got?
Two.
Any dogs?
Two dogs.
Two dogs. What are their names?
Uh, Holly and Peaches.
One, Peaches. Peaches looks like a peach, right?
And Holly, because I don't know which one's the favorite. The both of them. I used to sing songs to all in, right?
Okay, so right. Let's move on then. What is your favorite music or favorite song? Christian, whichever, what's your favorite song?
I like, uh, I don't know if it's called "Juice," I believe in you. That one, yeah. I like that one.
Okay. To be honest with you, I think it's from when I first got saved, "How Great Thou Art."
Now, yeah. Really? That's unspoken, right?
Do you have a favorite football team? What do you support?
I'm a Manchester United fan, okay, that's Jenna.
Do you have any favorite football team?
You know that.
Why?
I don't watch football either. I try not to.
Okay, favorite TV program, secular, Christian, I like to watch, um, obviously I like Kenneth Hagin.
Okay, yeah, I like to watch them on this.
Yeah, yeah. I was gonna ask you about your favorite Christian character or Christmas creature, yeah.
Okay, all right, thank you very much.
Okay, so, um, now let's talk about the church. At which point did you realize that you were going to be in ministry?
We're not being saved that long, excuse me, and we both come in and we're both coming out to the word of faith, so we, um, my dad had got loads of videos at that time and feed cassette and Kenneth Copeland to keep more than people like that, and we were listening to them things, and then before we were sat one night, and I just said, "Too," we might have been pasted or something, and then this just come out of my mouth, straight away, and I said, "And the Lord said, 'We still can be,'" and we both laughed, and then we never spoke about it again. It's like, what's just happened?
Yeah, so what age were you then, when you just...you had this discussion?
Nah, 36.
Okay.
Oh, so one year after it...
It wasn't a year because that, I was not saved in May, 35. The "enjoy mommy" birthday, so yeah.
Just to go back a bit, how long did it take for Pastor Janet to be born again after you?
I got saved in May, and Pastor Janet in July. It was July the fourth.
Oh, wow. So it wasn't that long then.
Okay, so after you had that discussion, did you go ahead to pray about it, or did you just forget about it altogether?
Okay. [Laughter] Did you feel like you were inadequate, or maybe because you're just being born again and so...
No, I didn't think right.
Yeah, okay, yeah.
Okay, so you were doing your job. What were you doing at that time?
That time, I was working, watching TV licenses.
Yeah, okay. And President, what were you doing then?
Relief Services.
Yeah, so at this time, there were no children yet.
No, we are.
Yeah.
All right, okay.
Yeah, yeah.
So, how long did it take from when you had this – because it reminds me of Abraham and Sarah, when God said to Abraham that he was going to have a baby, and he fell flat on his face, and Sarah was laughing, but it came to pass whatever God has spoken to them, they didn't expect it. Especially Sarah laughed at herself and she didn't think she would be able to do that.
So how long did it take from that discussion and the laughter for it to come into reality?
I think, most probably, it's if I just cut back a bit, especially for a Full Gospel of Church, yeah. And I ended up getting depression right, and um, I had pride in my life and God had to deal with that as well, and that, that word stabbed me. It took over a year to really break, break the heart of the shoulder, you know? Like, take him off the brother, off me.
And we went to a little mission, and as we're going to this little mission, we're helping out at this mission, I kept hearing, never do that, never do this. I'm thinking, "I felt like I wanted to become a judge." Like, I said, "No, I don't want to do that." But I didn't know that God was already dealing with me about being a pastor.
One day, I will work. I'd already moved them to Cremorne Gift. Some little tractors working nights and what I work in the house, do you want to be a pastor and start a church?
Wow, and it's like, "What did you just say?"
Audible voice, okay, yeah, and I thought, "Wow."
And I tried to, sort of, leave it alone, and he kept speaking to me about it, and I thought, "What?"
And I think I came home, and a couple of weeks after when the Lord was still talking about it, so I came home to Pastor Janet, and I said, "The Lord, um, want to start a church," and we prayed.
We haven't got a clue. An absolute time. We said, "We know one person who could maybe start a church with us. We know you're gonna have to tell him, which we don't know what to do."
You'll have to tell him to start a search and we're running it together.
And I can't remember how long it was before the Lord spoke to that gentleman, so we started another church with him, yeah, and then it was actually, and then we just let in another, yeah, you know, 'cause they've been saved a long time, so we relied on him.
Okay, and then the Lord told us we have to start her as well, and he told me on my own, and I never set up a couple more weeks, and I went to Janet one day and said, "The Lord said we've got to leave us."
Yeah, and you started to cry.
Yeah, yeah, so he sort of like babysat you for a bit until God knew that you were ready to go and give birth to your own dreams, and we tried so hard, yeah, not to leave, even when the Lord had told us.
"Deliver," yeah.
We were happy where we were, yeah, because Pastor Janet spoke today about comfort zone. They didn't shake it about being comfortable in our comfort zone, and when God wants us to step into the water, we feel like, "Oh no, we've been so much. We've been babysat, and I feel so comfortable."
But God always ends up comforting us.
So, right, so how old is the church now in years?
How old is it now?
97.
97, 26 years.
26 years, okay.
So, um, I, let me, just so if you have just joined us, we are, I'm Patience, and this is Pastor Philip and his wife Pastor Janet Hills.
We're just talking about the vision that God gave them. We've talked a little bit about themselves, so if you can go back and watch the beginning, you will see how God has worked with them.
So now we are talking about the church, and it's Life Changes Church.
So, welcome, and please stay tuned, okay?
So, um, the church is 26 years old. I know that this venue is not where you started, so where was the first place that you started the church?
Yeah, we started in our home, and started with Philip and myself, and our two children.
We had a meeting together, and we said, "Lord, if it's right that you want to do this in our lives for us to be faster, yeah, we need our children with us. We need them to be baptized in the Holy Spirit."
Wow, okay.
So we had a little meeting between us, and, um, how old were they at that time?
Um, Sarah would have been nearly 12. I think they were quite young.
Yeah, Natalie would have been about nine.
Yeah, eight, nine.
Yeah, okay.
So it started in your home with the two beautiful girls that you've got.
And, um, so the four of you, so Pastor Philip, I guess you would preach, yeah.
And then who would take the offering?
Sarah.
So, yeah, you do everything together.
We had a friend of ours who had just become a pastor in London.
Yeah.
And two people came sort of straight away in there, yeah.
And we had a meeting where God broke out, and we had laughter and all this stuff, yeah.
And I think we went away, didn't we, on holiday.
Yeah, we went away for a week abroad.
Yeah, and then we come back and we said, "We'll open it up and just..."
Yeah, okay.
So, um, we're going to end this discussion here now.
Please join us for part two.
So, this is the end of part one.
I'm Patience. I've been speaking to my pastor, um, Philip, for the pills, and his wife, Pastor Janet Hills, and we're just about to go into part two to talk about how this church started and how it has come to where it is today, 26 years old.
26 years of being faithful to the Lord.
It started small, just the two of them with their two daughters, and today it's much bigger than it was.
So, please stay tuned. We'll come back again. Thank you.
