### Summary
Today, we concluded our series "More Than a Song" by delving into the powerful song "I Speak Jesus" by Charity Gayle, written by the worship collective Here Be Lions. This song was born from a simple yet profound prayer: "I just want to speak the name of Jesus over all these people." The name of Jesus is not just a word; it is an invocation of His very presence, carrying immense power and authority. Throughout Scripture, the name of Jesus is exalted and recognized as the only name that can save and bring true peace.
We explored the significance of Jesus' name through various biblical references, emphasizing that it is not a magic incantation but a call to His presence. I shared a personal story about encountering a bear in the Smoky Mountains and how calling out the name of Jesus brought immediate deliverance. This illustrates the real, tangible power of His name in our lives.
We also discussed the concept of peace as described in John 14:27, where the Greek word "eirene" signifies an internal posture independent of external circumstances. This peace is accessible to us even amidst chaos and challenges. Embracing this peace involves slowing down, turning down the noise, and settling into Jesus' presence.
Furthermore, we highlighted the freedom and deliverance that come through Jesus' name. Whether it's addiction, anxiety, depression, or any other stronghold, speaking His name brings liberation. The name of Jesus transcends human understanding and defeats the enemy's forces, bringing light into darkness.
In conclusion, we encouraged everyone to make the name of Jesus their first line of defense in any situation. By aligning ourselves with God's will and speaking His name, we invite His intervention and experience His power, healing, and freedom. We ended with a powerful declaration, speaking Jesus over various aspects of our lives and commanding darkness to flee.

Day 1: The Power of Jesus' Name
The name of Jesus is not just a word but an invocation of His presence. It carries immense power and authority, as seen throughout Scripture. When we speak His name, we are calling upon the very essence of who He is, inviting His intervention in our lives. This is not about using His name as a magic formula but about recognizing and inviting His sovereign power into our circumstances. The name of Jesus has the power to heal, save, and deliver, and it is a name above all names.
In the Bible, we see numerous instances where the name of Jesus brings about miraculous changes. For example, in Acts 3:6, Peter heals a lame man by invoking the name of Jesus. This demonstrates that the power of Jesus' name is not limited to the past but is available to us today. When we speak His name, we are aligning ourselves with His will and inviting His kingdom to come into our lives. [50:34]
Acts 3:6 (ESV): "But Peter said, 'I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.'"
Reflection: Think of a situation in your life where you need divine intervention. Can you speak the name of Jesus over that situation today and invite His power to work?
Day 2: Peace Amidst Chaos
True peace, as described in John 14:27, is an internal posture independent of external circumstances. This peace is accessible to us even when our external world is in turmoil. Embracing this peace involves slowing down, turning down the noise, and settling into Jesus' presence. The Greek word "eirene" signifies a state of tranquility that is not affected by the chaos around us. This peace is a gift from Jesus, and it is different from the peace the world offers.
In our fast-paced lives, it is easy to get caught up in the noise and chaos. However, Jesus invites us to experience His peace, which surpasses all understanding. This peace is not about the absence of problems but about the presence of Jesus in the midst of them. By focusing on Him and spending time in His presence, we can experience this peace that guards our hearts and minds. [01:00:22]
Isaiah 26:3 (ESV): "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
Reflection: What is one practical step you can take today to slow down and focus on Jesus, allowing His peace to fill your heart?
Day 3: Freedom Through Jesus' Name
The name of Jesus brings freedom from all forms of bondage, whether it's addiction, anxiety, depression, or any other stronghold. Speaking His name over these areas invites His power to break every chain and bring liberation. Jesus' name is a powerful weapon against the forces of darkness, and it has the authority to set captives free. This freedom is not just theoretical but real and tangible, available to all who call upon His name.
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus setting people free from various forms of bondage. In Mark 5:1-20, Jesus delivers a man possessed by a legion of demons, demonstrating His authority over the spiritual realm. This same power is available to us today. When we speak the name of Jesus over our struggles, we are inviting His power to bring freedom and deliverance. [01:05:22]
2 Corinthians 3:17 (ESV): "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
Reflection: Identify an area in your life where you feel bound or oppressed. Can you speak the name of Jesus over that area today and invite His freedom?
Day 4: The Light of Jesus
The name of Jesus brings light into darkness, defeating the enemy's forces. His name is a powerful weapon against fear, anxiety, and depression. When we speak His name, we are aligning ourselves with God's will and inviting His light to dispel the darkness. Jesus is the light of the world, and His light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
In John 1:5, we read that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. This is a powerful reminder that no matter how dark our circumstances may seem, the light of Jesus can penetrate and dispel that darkness. By speaking His name, we are inviting His light to shine in our lives and drive out all forms of darkness. [01:10:38]
John 1:5 (ESV): "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Reflection: Think of a situation in your life where you feel overwhelmed by darkness. Can you speak the name of Jesus over that situation and invite His light to shine?
Day 5: Declaring Jesus Over Our Lives
We can speak the name of Jesus not just against negative things but also for positive declarations. We can declare peace, hope, healing, and restoration over ourselves and our loved ones. By doing so, we align ourselves with God's promises and invite His blessings into our lives. Speaking the name of Jesus is a way of affirming our faith and trust in His power and goodness.
In the Bible, we see the power of positive declarations. For example, in Numbers 6:24-26, the Lord instructs Moses to bless the Israelites with a declaration of peace and favor. Similarly, we can declare the name of Jesus over various aspects of our lives, inviting His blessings and aligning ourselves with His will. [01:15:37]
Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV): "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you need to see God's blessings? Can you declare the name of Jesus over that area today and invite His peace, hope, and restoration?
Pastor Jerry and Pastor Chris McQuay, as we close our series "More Than a Song," hello, CLCH! How are all of you doing today? Doing good? Everyone online, we're so glad that you could join us today.
This has just been a marvelous series, hasn't it? "More Than a Song," where we've looked at the theology behind some of the songs that we sing. Now, today is our last message, and we are going to be using "I Speak Jesus."
Yeah, I have to warn you, we might be shouting just a little bit. "I Speak Jesus" is a very powerful song that is sung by Charity Gale, but it was written by a worship collective called Here Be Lions. And get this: part of their mission is to purposely write songs that heal listeners. That's their purpose! Isn't that awesome?
Jess Reeves was going to pray over the team before they started writing the song, and his prayer was simply this: "I just want to speak the name of Jesus over all these people." That was the prayer that became the song. All they needed was some melody because it was already the most powerful name there is—Jesus.
There is power in Jesus' name. There's power in the name of Jesus, for sure. He's so glorious. You can see throughout Scripture that His name is exalted. The psalmist David wrote in Psalm 20:7, "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."
And Jeremiah 10:6 says, "There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and great is your mighty and powerful name." Also, in Acts 4:12, "Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through Him."
Jesus' name is exalted because it's so powerful. But please don't think that you can use His name like a magic incantation. What's that called? Incantation. There you go. That word. Like "abracadabra." Okay? We think that if we add Jesus' name to it, then we can get anything we want. But that's not how this works.
Speaking His name is not just a mere utterance. It is an invocation to His very presence. Amen.
Now, some of you know this story. But when we first started going up to the Smoky Mountains, we had two dogs. Jasper was a big chocolate lab, 100 pounds. Huh? Yeah, 100 pounds. I mean, he was a big boy. And a little dachshund called Pedro.
It was late at night in the mountains, and I needed to take the dogs out to do what dogs do. There were no lights on anywhere, and there were no stars in the sky. So it was very, very dark. I was just trying to navigate us so we wouldn't fall off the side of the mountain.
All of a sudden, Jasper started having this deep growl in his chest. He was like... So I looked up to try... I didn't see what he sensed that I didn't. And I saw something that was kind of a lump, a bump, something. I didn't know what it was. Again, it was so dark, I couldn't see.
But when Jasper growled like that, it stood up on its feet. And it was a bear. A big bear. So I really didn't have time to think. I just knew that if Jasper wanted to get to that bear, he was going to get there, and the bear could, you know, maul him.
So in just a moment of time, I quickly wrapped the leashes around my body, fell on the ground to lay on the leashes so the dogs couldn't get free, and I screamed, "Jesus!" with everything I was worth. And you know what? The bear ran down the side of the mountain. Hallelujah!
I've always been a big believer in the name of Jesus. You know, in the past, I really thought I'd have peace if my problems would disappear, or at least diminish a little bit. And I would have peace if the house was clean, you know, and the car was fixed, and the kids weren't acting too badly, and the bills were paid off.
Anybody know where I'm coming from? Have you ever been that way? You think, "Well, if this wasn't going on, yeah, sure, I could have peace." How many of you have been that way? I think we've all felt that way sometime in the past.
But the Greek word for peace that my husband just read in that scripture, John 14:27, is "irene." And this is what it means: an internal posture independent of external circumstances. Oh, that's deep, going, guys, really. That means we can experience peace on the inside, even with a ton of challenges happening on the outside.
I mean, we get up problem after problem after problem. Like we're having... No. But we get up problem after problem after problem. And the house can be a complete disastrous mess. Now, I know some of you guys, you don't even notice it. You know, for me, a house like my house this morning drives me crazy.
Anybody, chaos in the home, you know, train wreck of a house, everything's a mess? Does that bother you? Yes. See? But what we're saying is that our houses can be a complete mess. Our car can be in the garage. Our kids can all be acting out at the very same time. And the bills piling up.
I'm paid. Problem after problem after problem. And you can still have peace with everything wrong that is going on in your life situations.
Now, the way you embrace the peace, okay, it's not going to overtake you and grab you, okay? The way you embrace the peace is just to slow down, put the brakes on, turn the noise down, and just appreciate Jesus. You know, just settle into His presence.
Because Jesus is the... You know, it's the promise of peace that Isaiah declared 700 years before His birth in Isaiah 9:6. I speak Jesus. I speak His peace over every one of you right now. Amen.
The worst of hope is worse than the challenge that you're facing. It becomes the problem. But remember, every time that you declare the name of Jesus, you are aligning yourself with God's will and inviting His intervention.
So I challenge you that the name of Jesus would be your go-to response, your first line of defense no matter what is going on in your life. Because in His name, there is strength. In His name, there is comfort. In His name, there is hope.
And as the song says, in His name, there is hope and there is freedom. John 8:36 says, "So if the Son makes you free..." Yeah, if you want to use the amplified translation, it says, "Then you are unquestionably free."
In Jesus' name, addictions are broken. You are free, whether the addiction is an illegal drug like cocaine or heroin, or a prescription drug, or alcohol, or nicotine, or caffeine. You are free in the name of Jesus, even of those seemingly small things that can also have a terrible hold on your life.
Jesus' name can free you from holds of shopping. I'm waiting for that one to just... Okay, not as many amens. Video games, stuff on the internet, and even work. Yes, work can free you. Have you ever heard of a workaholic?
Yeah, because of Jesus' name, you can be free of all of these things. They don't have to dominate your life any longer. Because of Jesus' name, you can be free from bad choices or sinful nature. You are redeemed. You are restored in Jesus' name.
His name is the endless source of healing and hope and power and the freedom to be everything He created us to be. Oh, I love the chorus, which says, "Because Your name is power. Your name is healing. Your name is life. Break every stronghold."
When it comes to the name of Jesus, I think it transcends human understanding. I don't think we truly grasp it because Jesus' name is the most powerful, mightiest power known. He has power, but His power pales in comparison to the name of Jesus.
And I'm telling you right now, the name of Jesus defeats the enemy's armies easily, and the gates of hell cannot stop a church that comes against it in the name of Jesus. Darkness and shadows cannot withstand the light of Jesus.
That Jesus' name brings the light of Jesus burns like a fire, a never-ending fire fueled by God's love.
This week has been very difficult for me. I cried more this week than I ever remember crying in my entire life. My husband held me, and he prayed for me, and he softly spoke the words of this song over me, and he kept saying, "I speak Jesus," until the shadow broke and I had the strength to keep on going.
I want you to know this works. It truly works. And depression is a mental health issue that's increasingly affecting more and more people. How awesome that we have a song that can remind us to speak His name directly against fear, against anxiety, against depression.
No matter what unhealthy emotion you're battling today, the name of Jesus is a weapon like no other. It truly is. Just as David said to Goliath, "You come to me with a sword and a spear and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's armies, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defiled."
When we come in His name, when we come in Jesus' name, we need to remember that He is the Lord of Heaven's armies, and He has multiplied millions of angels to do His commands. And I'm telling you right now, it's more than twice as many as demonic forces. Did you know that?
Yep. The scripture doesn't just say, "Greater is He that is in me than he that's in the world." Man, God's forces are so huge and so powerful. We should never fear the enemy. Never. Everybody say never.
Philippians 1:28 says, "And you will not be afraid of those who fear you, of those who are against you." All of this proof from God that you are being saved and that your enemies will be lost.
In this song, it's all about speaking the name of Jesus. We will speak the name of Jesus over darkness. We will speak His name over strongholds. We will speak His name over fear. We will speak His name over anxiety. We will speak His name over depression.
Now, you may not see immediate results. I don't want to mislead anybody. You may have a battle on your hands. I've been having a battle for a while. You may have a battle, but ultimately—everybody say ultimately—ultimately, the ultimate victory is found in the name of Jesus as you align your will with God's will.
And you know what? You can speak the name of Jesus not just against things, but for things. You can, you can, in Jesus' name, declare peace. You can declare hope. You can declare healing. You can declare over yourself.
I'm getting ahead of myself. You go ahead, getting too excited. If I ask you what you pray about the most, you probably say you pray about your family the most. I know I do. I know it's true for me.
But when somebody hurts in your family, you hurt, don't you? And you just want to fix stuff. I know you do. I've talked to some of you. You just want to fix it. But the problem is you can't always fix it. And when you can't fix it, it hurts even more.
But you can speak the name of Jesus over your family. And that's what I've started doing: speak His name. And you can too. Speak the name of Jesus.
And as I speak Jesus over here, I command darkness to fall, to flee from your life. I command everything that does not line up with the truth of what God's Word says about you to flee. I command that the dead things in your life breathe again.
I command that which has been broken to be healed. I speak Jesus over your marriage and call forth restoration right now. I speak Jesus over every addiction and command it to break now.
I speak Jesus over your mind and call it restored and whole, over prodigal sons and daughters, and call them home now. I want you to yell with everything that's within you. We've already done it, so you can do it too.
I want you just to yell "Jesus!" I want you to yell it, scream it, shout it. I want you to yell it. That's what the song says. And when you do, I want you to shout it over your families, over your health, over your finances, over whatever is broken, whatever is being hindered in your life.
I want you to do it. We spoke at Jesus. Now I want you to shout "Jesus!" One, two, three...
Anything! And then lead this prayer. I can do this. He listed all the things you've been, but the one thing they didn't list is that you've been my best friend, and I love you. I love your girls. You've been a part of my life for so long.
But here's what I want to say to you: This is excellent. And I'm so proud of you guys. And I'm so happy for you because I know that God is bringing you to the place that you've been working towards really for so long. Whether you knew it or not, you are a man and woman of prayer, of worship.
And you're going to knock it out of the park, but it's not going to be easy. So we're going to pray for you for God's wisdom and strength. He's already been giving you creative ideas for years.
So, but we're just going to pray for your strength and wisdom. And I'd like...
And Lord, I thank You for their creative ideas to reach those that are not reached, for creating God, for people that need You just as much as anyone from different cultures and different backgrounds.
Lord, I thank You that You've already given them this vision, and I thank You, God, that You're going to give them the tools and the exact steps to take to bring about a harvest of souls.
And I pray, Lord God, that You will bless this entire family with peace and joy and strength in Jesus' name. We love You, Jesus, and we love them. In Jesus' name.

"If I ask you what you pray about the most you probably say you pray about your family the most I know I do I know it's true for me but when because when somebody hurts in your family you hurt don't you and you just want to fix stuff I know you do I've talked to some you just want to fix it but the problem is you can't always fix it and when you can't fix it it hurts even more but you can speak the name of Jesus over your family and that's what I've started doing is speak his name and you can too speak the name of Jesus and as I speak Jesus over here I command darkness to fall to flee from your life I command everything that does not line up with the truth of what God's word says about you to flee I command that the dead things in your life breathe again I command that which has been broken to be healed I speak Jesus over your marriage and call forth restoration right now I speak Jesus over every addiction and command it to break now I speak Jesus over your mind and call it restored in whole over prodigal sons and daughters and call them home now I want you to yell at everything that's within you we've already done it so you can do it too I want you just to yell Jesus I want you to yell and when you do I want you to yell it scream it shout it I want you to yell it that's what the song says and when you do I want you to shout it over your families over your health over your finances over whatever is broken whatever is being hindered in your life I want you to do it we spoke at Jesus now I want you to shout Jesus one two three anything and then lead this prayer."
