Could you let us know why so that we can improve our ministry?
by FBC Toccoa on Nov 05, 2023
Verse 2 says, "David answered Him after he said, 'Why are you alone?' And David said to him, 'The king has ordered me on a secret mission. He told me that no one should know anything about it. I have instructed my men to meet me at a certain place.'"
David finds himself alone in the house of the Lord, in denial of his situation. The person trying to help him lies, and David covers up for them, saying that King Saul sent him there. He tells the priests not to tell anyone about his inner turmoil.
Sometimes, people come into our lives seeking help but are hesitant to share their true struggles because they fear judgment. David straight-up lies because sometimes people are running from something on the outside while appearing to judge others. But the truth is, God hears your prayers.
David asks the priest to give him five loaves of bread, admitting that he is going through a difficult time but does not want to admit that he is alone. He needs something to satisfy his hunger, not just physical hunger but also the hunger of his soul. As a church, it is important to meet people's needs and be prepared to help them where they are.
A servant of Saul, named Doeg, happens to be present at the same place as David. Despite David's victory over Goliath with just a sling and a stone, now he is in trouble and asks the servant if he has a spear or sword. God had been with David before, but now he faces a new challenge.
