### Summary
Good morning, church! I am thrilled to see each and every one of you this morning. As we were singing, I shared this at the first service as well, and I said, we have to move into a place where we believe. Maybe you haven't been in church for a while, and you're wondering why people are singing and getting excited. It's all about belief. Belief is not based on your circumstances or how you feel; it's a decision to trust God regardless of what it looks like or feels like. The enemy's primary job is to get you to a place of unbelief, but we come here to realign ourselves with belief because belief is everything.
We are a tri-part being: spirit, soul, and body. When you get saved, it's not your body that changes; it's your spirit. Your soul is in the process of changing, but your spirit is made new at the moment of belief. This new life in Christ is not just a concept; it is a transformation that touches every part of our life. Belief is a trust, a faith, and a commitment that goes beyond intellectual agreement. It involves fully relying on Jesus for life and salvation, acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior, and is demonstrated through a transformed life that aligns with Jesus and His teachings.
When we believe, we step into the waters of baptism, not out of ritual, but as a declaration of our rebirth and commitment to Jesus. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It symbolizes our participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. As you go under the water, it signifies dying to your old life and sin. As you come out of the water, it represents your new life in Christ. Baptism is a joyous celebration that symbolizes purification, rebirth, and a commitment to follow Jesus.
I shared my personal story of getting baptized a second time. I was serving at Thrive Church, and during a service, I felt the Lord calling me to get baptized again. It was a new level of commitment. As I came up out of the water, my pastor shared a word from the Lord, saying that I had been faithful in a season of my life and that God was requiring something more of me. This led me to a deeper commitment and eventually to the founding of Limitless Church.
Belief, baptism, and belonging are interconnected. This isn't a country club where we try to keep people out; it's a hospital where we welcome everyone in. We all have areas where we need help, and we are all here together trying to get it right. When stuff happens, this is where you need to be. Family is the one that's going to be there for you. Belonging means that when things go bad, we don't run out; we come in. We pick each other up and walk together because that's what family does. This is what the body of Christ is about.
Philippians 3:7-8 says, "Whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." This new life in Christ is not just a concept; it is a transformation that touches every part of our life. We believe, and in that belief, we are made new. We step into the waters of baptism, not out of ritual, but as a declaration of our rebirth and commitment to Jesus. And in this new journey, we belong. We are no longer isolated but part of a vibrant, loving family in Christ.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for reminding us of what you called us to and what you called us to do. Thank you for moving us, God, reminding us of the necessity of belief. We seek you, we believe in you, and we thank you for those who are making the decision today to go through the step of baptism, a public declaration. And God, I thank you for the opportunity to belong in this world. There's so much pulling us in different ways, but you said home is where you are, and I thank you for it in Jesus' name.
We celebrate this new life in Christ. We celebrate what God has called us to do, and we recognize that when something is so good and we realize all that He's done, we have to respond to it. One of the ways we do that here at Limitless is through our giving. Giving is an opportunity to say, "God, I trust you. I thank you for saving me. I thank you for believing in me." We give because we believe in sowing into God's vision for our life, this house, and this community. We get excited about giving because it's an opportunity to participate in what the Lord is doing.
Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice and those watching online. Speak to them, Lord. What is it that you would have them give? We don't give out of compulsion but out of a heart of generosity. We believe that as a result of our obedience and sowing today, another one is on the way. In Jesus' name, amen.
If you're here today and you haven't made Jesus Lord and Savior, today is the day to get that done. Tomorrow is not promised. If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, you shall be saved. If you want to recommit your life to Christ, we want to pray with you. Jesus is ready to receive you with open arms. If you want to get baptized, we have baptisms today, and we would love to celebrate this big moment with you. Today is the day of salvation. Make your way to our altar team, and let's see the miracle of another one happen in your life today.

Day 1: Belief is a Choice
Belief is not based on circumstances or feelings; it is a decision to trust God regardless of what it looks like or feels like. The enemy's primary job is to get you to a place of unbelief, but we come together to realign ourselves with belief because belief is everything. Belief is a trust, a faith, and a commitment that goes beyond intellectual agreement. It involves fully relying on Jesus for life and salvation, acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior, and is demonstrated through a transformed life that aligns with Jesus and His teachings. [32:54]
Hebrews 11:1 (ESV): "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
Reflection: What is one area in your life where you struggle to trust God? How can you make a conscious decision today to trust Him in that area, regardless of your current circumstances or feelings?
Day 2: The Transformation of New Life
When you get saved, it's not your body that changes; it's your spirit. [44:11]
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV): "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Reflection: Reflect on a specific area of your life where you have seen transformation since you believed in Jesus. How can you continue to allow God to transform other areas of your life?
Day 3: Baptism as a Declaration
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It symbolizes our participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. As you go under the water, it signifies dying to your old life and sin. As you come out of the water, it represents your new life in Christ. Baptism is a joyous celebration that symbolizes purification, rebirth, and a commitment to follow Jesus. It is not a prerequisite for salvation but a public declaration of your faith and commitment to Jesus. [51:26]
Romans 6:4 (ESV): "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."
Reflection: If you have been baptized, reflect on what that moment meant to you. If you have not been baptized, what is holding you back from making this public declaration of your faith?
Day 4: Belonging in the Body of Christ
Belief, baptism, and belonging are interconnected. This isn't a country club where we try to keep people out; it's a hospital where we welcome everyone in. We all have areas where we need help, and we are all here together trying to get it right. When stuff happens, this is where you need to be. Family is the one that's going to be there for you. Belonging means that when things go bad, we don't run out; we come in. We pick each other up and walk together because that's what family does. This is what the body of Christ is about. [01:10:49]
1 Corinthians 12:26-27 (ESV): "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it."
Reflection: Think of a time when you felt supported by your church family. How can you extend that same support to someone else in your congregation this week?
Day 5: Generosity as a Response to God's Love
We celebrate this new life in Christ and recognize that when something is so good and we realize all that He's done, we have to respond to it. [01:16:06]
2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV): "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Reflection: Reflect on your current attitude towards giving. How can you cultivate a heart of generosity that reflects your gratitude for all that God has done for you?
We won't go. You can't quit till we let y'all know.
Hey, this love and peace I found, it never ends and it won't come down.
Hey, I had a great idea: a world with no hate and no fear, all grace, love, and all cheers, families, hugs, and no tears.
Hey, let me just bask for a minute, brand new with no windows tinted. Party in the street till the sun come get us and tell the whole crew they can all come with us.
And we ain't gotta lock the doors, and we don't need cops, of course. And we don't care about your skin; we just want an all-out.
You can drop your offering at those offering boxes at the exits. We also have a prayer bin at the coffee table. If you didn't get a chance to receive some prayer, we'd love to still pray for you, so you can write down your prayer request and put them in the offering bin.
Hey, Limitless, we have an exciting opportunity coming up for our families on June 2nd during both of our services. It is baby dedications for all babies ages 0 to 3. We would love to have the opportunity to celebrate with you as you dedicate your child to the Lord.
We have a lot of questions regarding what is a child dedication. Well, this is an opportunity for Christian parents who have been living in the ways of the Lord to say, "Hey, I have committed my life to the Lord. I'm living in a manner that God is pleased with, and I want to raise my child up and commit my child to the Lord at this time."
We would love to have the opportunity to celebrate with you as you dedicate your child to the Lord.
Good morning, church! I'm excited to see each and every one of you this morning.
As we were singing this song, I shared this at first service as well, and I said, "You know, we have to move into this place where we believe."
We sing this song, and for some of us, maybe you haven't been in church for a while.
Give me a little more. Maybe you haven't been in church for a while. I sound better when it's behind me. My wife said, "You should go up there and sing." I said, "She don't want me to do that. I'll take this whole thing over."
It's this idea, you know. Maybe you haven't been in church in a while. Maybe you just showed up, and you're like, "I don't understand this whole thing of why are they singing? Why are people getting excited? Why are they repeating the same thing?"
And it seems like they're getting more. But it's this idea of belief.
I believe. I understand that maybe life for you has got you to a place where you can believe is a hard thing. Your situations, your circumstances, maybe your marriage, maybe your family, maybe your finances.
It's hard for you to get to a place of believing that if He did it before, He'll do it again. Because you're like, "If He did it before, why hasn't it happened for me yet?"
What I need you to understand is that the enemy's primary job is to get you right where you are. He wants to get you to a place, a place of unbelief.
That's why we come here. That's why we come to this church. That's why we come to this house. That's why we're in here.
We want to get you back in line in a place of belief. Because belief is everything. It is the only thing that the enemy constantly tries to attack.
Because you get to a place where you say, "Well, I understand that they're singing that, but I just can't see it for myself."
Well, I don't feel like that's the case. And that's why belief is important.
Because belief is not based on your circumstance. Belief is not based on how you feel. Belief isn't even based on what you see.
Belief is a decision to say, "I trust God. I trust His word, regardless of what it looks like, regardless of what I feel like. I choose to stand in belief."
And what happens is when you sing these songs, when you come to a place where there's a bunch of people, there's a bunch of other people who believe, there's something that happens in the atmosphere.
There's something that happens on the inside of you. And what happens is you go to a place from, "Well, I guess, you know, I believe."
And then you start thinking about it, and you start looking around, and you say, "Well, I remember we had to pray for that person, and they're here."
And I remember that person had a need, and I remember that person was on the verge of divorce, and I remember that person was sick in the hospital bed.
And you start seeing all the things that God has for you, that God has done. And then you go from, "I guess I believe," then you go to, "You know what? I believe."
I think I have a belief. And then what happens is as you continue to sing, "If He told the stone to roll away, and it did, He will again. If He told the sea where to split, and it did, He will again. If He told the chains to let Him go, and He did, He will again."
What happens is something on the inside of you says, "You know what? If He did it before, He can do it again."
And you get into this place where everybody is in a place of belief, and everybody is singing again.
And what happens is now you have aligned yourself in belief. You have moved out of circumstances. You have moved out of what you see.
And you say, "You know what? No matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like, no matter what it seems like, I choose to believe. I choose to believe."
I make a decision. Belief is a choice. You wake up every day and make choices. Belief is a choice.
I choose to believe. And the enemy wants to get you out of belief.
And so when you're here and you have this opportunity, I pray that you don't take it for granted. Because more than anything, it's an opportunity for you to get out of unbelief.
And we want to get you to a place of belief. So we might sing that thing 30 times over because we're trying to get ourselves there.
And then we want to encourage others to get there to say, "You know what? Today I choose to believe."
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the opportunity that we have to hear from You today.
God, we make a decision. We make a choice to be in belief. I pray that You would speak to the hearts of each one of us that are here today.
God, we know that Your word is anointed, so we pray that You would anoint our hearts to receive what You're saying and our ears to hear what You're saying to us, God.
We need to hear from You in Jesus' name. Amen.
Amen. You're here today watching for the first time. We want to welcome you to Limitless Church.
We're so excited that you're here. Join in the chat, say something, and we'll see you next time. Get in the building.
So we are in the beginning of this new... Somebody got it late. Okay, praise God.
We're starting this new teaching that I call "New Life."
Who this? Where did I get that from? So I have a new phone number. I've had my Atlanta phone number since I was like 13 years old.
And what happens is the longer you keep a number, the more your number gets out, and people are calling you, and it just gets irritating.
What happened to me is people begin to call me that I haven't seen or heard from in 15, 20 years.
And I was like, "You know what? I think it's time for me to change my number."
You know, you talk to people, and you're like, "I don't even know who this is. What is the purpose of this call? I haven't seen or heard from you."
And so what happens is I change my number. And what happens is when you change your phone number, if you get a number, if you get a new phone, sometimes all your contacts don't go over to the new phone.
And then what happens is somebody would text, and they'd be like, "Hey, Pastor Keenan, you know, just wanted to say, 'Hey, hope everything is good. I hope your children are well. I pray the blessings of the Lord over your life. I believe a miracle is coming.'"
And I'm like, "New phone, who this?"
And there's a lot of messages that I was getting because I lost some of the numbers, and that was a conversation that I was having.
And I begin to think about the concept of new. There's something significant about having something that's new.
It changes you. It changes how you move. It changes how you feel. It changes how you interact. It changes what you do.
Ladies, when you get a new dress, you walk a little bit differently in the new dress than you did in the other dress.
You feel a little bit more confident when you move differently because it's new. New heels. Holler. New heels.
New shoes. You move a little bit differently. New eyelashes. You move a little differently with the new ones than you did with the old ones.
Men, when we get in the new truck, yeah, yeah, all the men was like, "Yes!"
Right? When you hop out the new truck at the gas station, you move a little bit differently.
My cousin Jeff is here, and I remember when we wrapped his new truck, and I was following him.
And behind him, when we got out, I think we had to go to San Francisco. We wanted to grab something to eat.
And I noticed when he got out the truck, he got out a little bit slower than he normally did before we had got the car wrapped.
Because it's something different when you hop out of something that's new.
Some of my guys here, I saw y'all when I was welcoming you this morning. Some of y'all got fresh cuts.
I know when you came out of the barbershop, the line was nice. You walked out slow because you wanted to make sure you didn't put a hat on.
Nothing. You wanted to make sure. Why? Because you move a little bit differently.
Me? When I have on new shoes and a new outfit, nothing you can tell me. There's nothing you can tell me.
Don't come over here trying to shine on me because I'm bright enough. I got it. I'm a different person.
A new phone, a new house, a new job. There's something significant about having something that's new.
You know, you drive the car a little bit more cautiously when it's new.
Anytime I get a rental car, I'm always nervous. Now, I drive fine, but when I get a rental car, I'm always nervous.
I want to make sure I don't add no scratches. They don't try to charge me for something that I didn't do, right?
My sister got a new car, and when she got the car, I think I don't know if we had to take her somewhere or something, but I got the opportunity to drive the new car.
And I'm excited because it has all of the bells, it has all of the whistles, it has all of the things.
But I can't even really enjoy it because it's so new. I'm like, "I don't want to..."
I put the seat back where it's probably... Let me put the temperature back. I turn the speakers back down because it was new.
I drove it a little more cautiously. When you have a new outfit on, you know you don't want people really hugging you like that because you don't want to get makeup.
You wear some new pair of shoes. Guys, you want to make sure nobody don't step on your toe in the morning time as soon as you get to church.
Hallelujah! You're different when you acquire something new.
As soon as you get to church, especially something that has a value attached to it, we had this phrase, "acting brand new," to signify when somebody is acting differently.
There's something different about them. You're acting brand new now.
And just as an outward response, just as an outwardly new thing necessitates a change, when you become new on the inside, it requires a change as well.
When we get a new thing, a new life, everything changes. Brand new.
And that new life, like I spoke about before, it starts with belief. It starts with the idea of belief.
Do you believe? Do you believe?
2 Corinthians 5 verse 17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ..."
Okay, that's grafted in, joined in Christ, into Him by faith in Him as Savior.
He is a new creature, new creation, okay? Reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit.
The old things, the previous moral, the previous spiritual condition has passed away, and behold, all things have come new.
Because spiritual awakening brings a new life. When we believe on Jesus, we do so by faith.
We place our faith in Him. When I believe in Him, I do so by faith.
The Bible says we are joined to Him by faith. When we place our belief in Him, we become new, reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit.
Okay, what does that thing mean? Reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit.
I say this often, but I know it's a lot of y'all who haven't been here since last baptism, so let me say this again.
So we are a tribe, a tri-part being. Man is a tri-part being, okay?
We are a spirit. Okay, we possess a soul. That soul is our feeler, it is our thinker, and we live in a body.
Okay, we are a tri-part being. We are a spirit, we possess a soul, we live in a body.
Now, when you get saved, it is not your body that changes.
I would love to tell you that as soon as you accept Christ, 25 pounds, boom!
Let me tell you, this church would be a lot fuller if that was the case.
But it's not your physical body that changes when you accept Christ. Your soul is in the process of changing.
There's a transformation or regeneration that takes place. But what changes the moment that you move into belief is your spirit.
Okay, your spirit is the thing that changes. The previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away.
It becomes new at the moment of belief. And then as we walk out that belief, as we engage in that belief, the scripture says new things have come.
Why? Because spiritual awakening brings a new life.
The first way we get to that new life is through belief. New life, who it is?
Belief. Let's define it. Because there's this thing that says, "Oh, belief is just..."
I said that I believe. I heard what you said. I agree.
Because we confuse agreement with belief. Just because you agree does not mean that you believe.
Okay? We say, "Oh, you know, at the end of the sermon, we say, 'Hey, if you want to believe on Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior,' you're like, 'Yeah, I agree.'"
No, belief is different. So let's define that.
Belief is a trust. It is a faith, and it is a commitment that goes beyond intellectualism.
It goes beyond intellectual agreement. Okay? It goes beyond intellectual agreement.
It involves fully relying on Jesus for life and for salvation.
Okay? Fully relying on Jesus for life and for salvation, acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior.
I encourage you to look those two words up: Lord, the leader, the God, the chief, the number one Lord over all of my decisions in my life.
Savior, the person that saves me. Acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior and is demonstrated through a transformed life that aligns with Jesus and His teachings.
It is aligned with Jesus, His teachings, and His example, and it is professed through words and actions.
This is belief. This is what belief means. It's not a, "I believe, and so I'm good."
No, I believe. I trust. I fully trust and rely on Jesus for my life and my salvation.
Belief says I am committing to align my life, align my words, align my actions with those of Jesus and His word.
Now, what if I feel like, you know, I don't want to do that? I don't want to align my actions.
I don't want to align my feelings. I don't want to align my habits with His word.
Then I have to question whether you really believe.
I got to get out of here. Okay? This is belief.
When you begin to walk out that belief, things start to change. Things start to change.
The old things have passed away. The new things have passed away. The new has come.
Why? Because my actions start to correspond with my belief.
I believe, therefore I do. I believe, therefore I do.
Okay? Y'all know my story. I don't like McDonald's.
I don't like McDonald's chicken nuggets. I don't believe that they're chicken.
I am of African American descent. I have been eating chicken all of my life.
And when I taste a McDonald's chicken nugget, that ain't it. It's just not.
It's just not. I've tried. I've done multiple places, multiple states. It's all the same. Not chicken.
So don't tell me this is a chicken McNugget. It is not. It is a McNugget of sorts, not chicken.
Okay? I believe that with all of my heart. So guess what? Because I believe that, you will not catch me in a McDonald's drive-thru ordering chicken nuggets for myself.
My kids and my wife don't seem to know the difference. I won't order them.
I will even go outside, Mr. Farr, and my kids will tell you this. If we are going down Main Street and there is a McDonald's right there, and my kids say, "I want nuggets," we're definitely going to Jack in the Box.
And my wife, very logical, "But baby, McDonald's right there." I'm not doing it.
I'm not doing it. My Aunt Pat, my Aunt Trina called me yesterday. They saw me going down Main Street.
They said, "You gotta go to McDonald's. They got this wonderful chicken wrap. You're gonna love it."
I said, "No way, no how. Why would I do that? That goes against everything that I stand for."
Why would you even say that? What am I saying? I'm saying that my actions correspond with my belief.
I believe, therefore I do. I no longer believe like I did, so I no longer act like I did.
Okay? I believe He's my provider. Therefore, I don't obsess over the economy like I used to.
I believe that He loves me. Therefore, I'm not looking for love in things, people, and places like I used to.
I believe that He protects me. So therefore, I am not walking in fear of my life like I used to.
I believe, therefore I do. I believe He is my vindicator.
So when you say something about me, I'm not gonna cuss you out like I used to because there's a new me.
I believe, therefore I do. It starts with belief.
The things I used to do, I don't do anymore because I am a believer. I am new, and my life is new, and it starts with belief.
You can't address me like the person that I used to be because that person is no longer.
That person no longer exists. So when you address me like who I used to be, you know what my response is gonna be?
"New life, who this?" I don't even know who you're talking to. I don't even know you.
New life, who this? It starts with belief.
This internal response, this internal response to take place first.
Second thing, we move from belief, then we go into this belief, this internal decision, this internal thing that begins to happen.
Then I move to an external representation of my belief, and that is baptism.
What is baptism? Today we celebrate Baptize California, and we're gonna be baptizing people.
I think it is very important that all of us, even those who are not getting baptized today, know what this means.
Okay? Baptism comes from the Greek word "baptizo."
Okay? Baptizo. And it means to immerse, to submerge, to make whelmed.
You know people say, "I'm overwhelmed." It actually... That's what that means. It makes to fully wet is what that means.
Baptizo. Now baptism is a practice where a person is fully submerged or immersed in water to publicly symbolize their new faith and their new life in Jesus.
We say here baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation.
Okay? It is a symbolic representation of a Christian's participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
As you go under the water, it signifies you dying to your old life and sin.
As you're under the water, it symbolizes you being buried like Jesus was buried.
And as you come out of the water, it represents your new life in Christ.
Baptism is a sacred, and it is a joyous celebration that symbolizes purification.
It symbolizes rebirth and a commitment to follow Jesus.
This is what baptism means. This is what baptism is.
It's not a time to just dip in some water because everybody else is doing it.
No, this is a commitment. Matthew chapter 3, verses 13, it's talking about here.
We got John the Baptist and Jesus. And people say, "Why do we get baptized as believers?"
Well, we get baptized because as followers of Jesus, we have this tendency to follow Jesus.
Yeah, Jesus did it, therefore we do it. Jesus was without sin, but He humbled Himself and said, "This is what needs to be done."
Verse 13 says, "Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John to be baptized by him."
And John said, "I have the need to be baptized by you, and yet you're coming to me."
But Jesus answering said, "Allow it at this time, for it is fitting to fulfill all righteousness."
Then he allowed him. And after he was baptized, Jesus came up out of the water.
This is important because people have this conversation about sprinkling.
No, no, no, no. He came up out from the water.
And behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and settling on him.
And behold, a voice from the heavens said to him, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Now, I will take a second to bring out the point. A lot of people think that the Holy Spirit is a dove.
Okay, this is not the case. I say my wife smells as beautiful as a rose.
I say she is fine as wine. Right? My kids run fast as a cheetah when I tell them to do something.
See what's happening here? And it says the Spirit descended as a dove on him.
And the voice from heaven said, "This is my Son in whom I am well pleased."
So Jesus Himself got baptized, therefore we get baptized.
And we do this out of a love for Jesus, out of a commitment.
And we do this as pastors and as leaders. We do this, and as Christians, because this is what God has commissioned us to do.
This is what He told us to do, the Great Commission in Matthew 28.
Go and make disciples of all the nations, all the people. Help them learn of me. Help them believe in me.
Help them to obey my word and do what? Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
There's another conversation. People say, "Who do you baptize in?"
Child, I'm reading the word. It's right there: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And so we do so because this is what God has commissioned us to do.
Now, what is and what isn't baptism?
Okay, baptism is a public declaration of your confession of Jesus Christ.
Baptism is your way of saying, "Hey, I have made Jesus Lord of my life, and I am letting the world know, and I am committing to that."
That's what baptism is. But let me be very clear: baptism is not salvation.
Okay? Baptism is not salvation, nor is baptism a prerequisite for salvation.
Okay? I know some of y'all tight, so I'm gonna help you out.
Okay? If baptism was a prerequisite for salvation or it was necessary for you to be saved, then what that would mean is that there was a work assuredly associated with getting saved.
There was a step, a process, a group of things, or a thing that was necessary in order for you to get saved.
That's what that would mean. Well, let's read Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 through 9.
Okay? Ephesians 2, starting at verse 8: "For it is by grace, God's remarkable grace and favorable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ, that you have been saved, delivered from judgment, and given eternal life through faith.
And this salvation is not of yourselves. It is not through your own effort, but it is the undeserved, gracious gift of God."
Verse 9 says, "Not as a result of your works, nor your attempts to keep the law, so that no one will be able to boast or take credit in any way for his salvation."
I didn't say it; the word said it. It said that salvation is a free gift that is given to you by the grace of God, not by your works, not by your attempts to do things to deserve salvation, so that no one could boast.
Verse 10: "Oh yeah, Jesus, I told a thousand people, and I got them baptized so that they could get saved."
Like, I didn't tell you to do that.
"God, Lord, I took 30,000 people through all of these steps so that they could get saved. Look at what I did, God."
I didn't... I never put that anywhere in the word. I said it was by grace alone, a free gift that was given freely.
Freely, that is it. It is not a prerequisite for salvation, and baptism is not salvation.
Now, the next thing, a question I get often is, "Who can get baptized, and when can they get baptized?"
And I've always said that anyone who is old enough to understand and comprehend the significance and the weight of salvation and baptism can be baptized any time after receiving Christ as their Lord and their personal Savior.
This is the only prerequisite for salvation.
For baptism is salvation, being able to understand what that means, being able to articulate a commitment that you have made.
Baptism is not something to be taken lightly, so there is a need to fully understand the commitment that you're making.
And I know, and I've had conversations where people will say, "Well, my family got me baptized," or "My mom or dad got me baptized when I was little."
And I will respond to that by saying we honor your parents' desire to symbolically dedicate you to the Lord.
But now, through baptism as a professing Christian, you now get to confirm their symbolic expression for yourself.
It's one thing for you to say, "Oh, you know, yeah, you know, I was little, whatever. I don't even remember what I did exactly."
You don't even know what you was committing to. That's how cults get started. Don't do that.
But now, as someone who understands what happened, you now get to confirm the symbolic commitment that your parents or grandparents or whoever it may be made.
Now, in some cases, you might see someone who has been baptized before choosing to get baptized again.
And that is something that we celebrate, and we honor here.
Baptism is not mandatory, but some people choose to do it again, and they do it to signify reaching a new level of commitment in their relationship with Jesus or perhaps recommitting their life to Jesus.
And we celebrate both of those things.
Personally, my story is that I got baptized a second time, and I remember that I was serving at a church.
I was serving at Thrive Church at Elk Grove, and I remember that pastor was calling for baptism.
And we had three services back then. Y'all keep coming; we're going to have three here.
All right? But y'all got to sign up to be on a team because that's the only way that's going to happen.
Okay? So pastor had three services back then, and in the first service at the end of service, pastor says, "Hey, somebody here needs to get baptized."
I was like, "Amen! You're right about that. Get them baptized, pastor."
And he said, "The Lord is calling someone here to be baptized."
And at the end of the second service, he said it again. He said, "There was somebody still here that God is calling and saying you need to get baptized."
And my first thought was, "Well, who was here that was at first service that's still here?"
Second service, I mean, the word was good, but I mean, you know, I guess if you want to hear it again, I guess it's better the second time around.
I don't know who would still be here. The only people that would be here first service on the second service would be people who were serving.
And I was like, "Is he talking to me? Is it me? Am I the one that needs to get baptized?"
And I'm like, "You know what? Just to be safe because I don't want to be disobedient, I'm going to get my stuff."
But I'm like, "I don't really think it's me because that would be weird if a pastor got baptized."
Because I figure everybody probably figures he already got that taken care of.
Isn't that... Don't you got to do that before you get on stage already?
I feel like you're preaching; you should probably have gotten baptized before.
And in that moment, the Lord said, "Are you going to worry about what people are doing? What do people think? Or are you going to do what I'm calling you to do?"
And I said, "You know what? I'm going to get my clothes because I'm not going to be disobedient."
And I called my wife. I texted my wife, told her, "Hey, get me some clothes. I think I'm going to get baptized."
And at the end of the third service, I did.
I walked up to my pastor, Pastor Hector, and I said, "Hey, I want to get baptized. I feel like the Lord is calling me to get baptized."
Here's what happened. In that moment, as I come up from the moment of baptism, as I come up out of that water, my pastor says, "Hey, I have a word from the Lord that I want to share with you."
I believe in the gifts of the Spirit, and I believe that people hear from God, and God speaks.
I've seen it with my own life. And he says, "Hey, the Lord is telling me that you have been faithful in a season of your life. You have been faithful in serving in this season, and there's another level, and there's something that God is requiring of you and requiring you to do."
And he said, "It is not uncommon that someone would get baptized again. Actually, in the Jordan River, people get re-baptized all the time."
And he says, "What it is is that there's a level of commitment that they currently have, and God is bringing them to a new level of commitment."
And I believe that the Lord is saying that it is your time to move to a new level of commitment.
And so that came immediately after that. And so I do that. I give my life. I get baptized.
I have that conversation, and the next day I speak to my pastor, and he says, "Hey, do you know what it is that the Lord is calling you to?"
I said, "No, I don't know." I went home, ate, went to sleep, hadn't even thought about it since then.
I don't know what it is. And he says, "You know what? I'm challenging you to really think about what that is. I'm challenging you to think about what God is calling you to."
And I said, "Okay." Again, I didn't really think much of it.
I figured if the Lord wanted me to know, He'll tell me. But what happened is over time, as I'm driving back home, I begin to have a desire for the people of this city.
I begin to walk in GNC, and I want to have a conversation with the guy behind the counter about Jesus because I can tell something's wrong with him.
I'm in Sourdough, and the lady's fixing my sandwich, and I'm asking her how her day was and is there any way I can pray for her.
I'm in Bel Air, and I can see the eyes of the people around me, and I can see the pain and the hurt.
And I begin to feel this desire that people in this city need to see Jesus differently.
And as a couple of months go by, this continues to happen. We all know I have a conversation with a young lady in a Food for Less that sets me on a trajectory and a course that is now Limitless Church because I chose to be obedient and submit to what the Lord was calling me to do.
So re-baptism isn't something that is not familiar. So I want us to understand what this is.
So baptism is like turning in your new address slip at the post office.
Some of y'all under 18 have no idea what any of those things are. Ask somebody older than you that got a house.
Okay? It's turning your new address slip to the post office, letting the world know that you have officially moved into a new chapter in your life.
It is your way of saying, "I have found my new home in Jesus."
And I'm not just like updating your address signifies a fresh start in a new place.
Baptism marks your fresh start in faith. It is your spiritual change of address form, letting everyone you know that you are ready to live out this new life with purpose and community.
New life, who this?
And lastly, we go from baptism, we go to belief, and then belong to God in Christ.
There's a fear that when you come into this new life in Christ, the enemy will tell you that you'll lose everything.
You'll lose your personality. You'll lose your fun. You'll lose who you are.
But that's simply not true. If anything, with this new life, you will become more of who you are.
Because who you are is being brought to light in Christ.
The enemy will tell you that you'll be alienated, and you don't need to do this because you'll lose everything, and it's lose-lose.
But you'll lose everything, but that is a lie. The only thing that the enemy loses is you.
Now, there will be some losses that you will take, but you will gain more than 100 times anything that you've lost.
Yes, you will lose those old habits, but you will make up for it with a new purpose and a new destiny for your life.
You will lose those vices and those things that you used to lean on, but you will gain victories in so many more areas in your life.
Yes, you will lose some friends, but you will gain a whole new family around you.
You belong here. You belong here.
The world wants you to belong everywhere else but here.
You want to belong to this identity. You want to belong to this group.
You want to belong to these people. You want to belong to this culture, but Jesus says you belong here.
You belong here. You belong here messed up. You belong here broken.
You belong here hurting. You belong here trying to work it out, trying to fix it.
You belong here with all of your stuff, all of your uniqueness, everything that is you, good, bad, ugly, and indifferent.
You belong here. That's what's so wonderful about the body of Christ.
It's all the stories and the uniqueness of all the different people, your culture, your background, the things that you've gone through, good and bad.
It all makes up this wonderful tapestry of the body of Christ. You belong here.
We need you. We need your gift. We need your story. We need your testimony.
We need everything that you've gone through. We could come together and be the body of Christ.
You belong here. Yeah. You feel like you don't belong anywhere? You belong here.
But you don't understand. I'm still struggling, and there's still these things going on.
Yeah, you belong here. But you don't know how ugly it's gotten and all the things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. You still belong here. You belong right here.
Belief, baptism, and belonging. This isn't a country club where we try to keep people out.
This is a hospital where we're ready to walk. We're ready to welcome everyone in because we all know we all got areas.
We all got things, and we're all here together trying to get it right.
What's the old saying? I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody.
That's it. No one is perfect, even me. No one is perfect.
We are all trying to go down that narrow path, and how much better is it when we get to do it together?
How much better is it when you got a brother and a sister by your side that you can call and say, "You know what? I'm struggling today."
"You know what? I missed the mark today."
"You know what? Hey, I just want to call you. I just, I don't want nothing. I just want to see if you're doing all right."
"Hey, I was just praying with you today."
Sorry in the parking lot. What'd I tell you? When stuff happens, this is where you need to be.
When stuff goes bad, we don't run out. No, we come in.
This, because family is the one that's going to be there.
The belonging is the thing that will say, "You know what? When that happens, hey, let me pick you up. Let me walk. Come on, let's go get something to eat. We can talk about it."
Why? Because that's what family does. That's what the body of Christ is about.
This is what we represent. Philippians chapter three, verse seven says, "Whatever gain I had," Paul is talking to the church in Philippi.
"Whatever gain I had, I counted loss for the sake of Christ. I count everything as a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as my Lord.
For His sake, I have suffered the loss of all things, and I count them as trash. I count it as rubbish. It is nothing to me in order that I may gain Christ."
He said, "It means nothing to me."
This new life in Christ is not just a concept. It is a transformation that touches every part of our life, every part of our being.
We believe, and in that belief, we are made new.
We step into the waters of baptism, not out of a ritual, but out of a declaration of our rebirth and our commitment to Jesus.
And in this new journey, we belong. We're no longer isolated, but we are part of a vibrant, loving family in Christ.
Belief, baptism, belonging.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word. Thank You for reminding us of what You called us to and what You called us to do.
Thank You for moving us, God, reminding us of the necessity that belief.
He who comes to You must first believe that You are, and that You are a rewarder of those who deal with You.
So as Jesus said, "I believe You, believe You, believe You, believe You, believe You, believe You."
We seek You. We believe, God.
I thank You for those who are making the decision today to go through the step of baptism, a public declaration.
And God, I thank You for the opportunity to belong in this world.
God, there's so many things pulling us so many different ways, but You said home is where You are, and I thank You for it.
In Jesus' name, I'm going to have our altar, our ushers come forward at this time.
God, I really appreciate Your grace. I thank You this time.
We celebrate this new life in Christ. We celebrate what God has called us to do, and we recognize that when something is so good and we realize all that He's done, we got to respond to it.
We have an opportunity to respond to His love, an opportunity to respond to His grace.
And one of the ways we do that here at Limitless is we do that through our giving.
Giving. It's an opportunity to say, "God, I trust You. I thank You for saving me. I thank You for believing. I thank You for keeping me. I thank You for all the things, God, and I just want to respond."
And we do so through giving.
And we believe here at Limitless that you shouldn't give out of compulsion, out of the idea that you have to give.
No, no, no, no, no. We give here because we believe in sowing into vision.
We believe in sowing into God's vision for our life, God's vision for this house, and God's vision for this community.
We get excited about giving because it's an opportunity to participate in what the Lord is doing.
We get excited about it because we know that God gets an opportunity for another one.
Another one is on the way. When we have an opportunity to give, He takes that seed, that seed, and He multiplies it, and He's able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we could ask or think.
So I give because I'm trying to get ready. I want to be a part of it. I don't want to miss getting in on this.
That is why we give. Not because we have to. No, not out of compulsion. We're cheerful givers.
Today, we have three opportunities to give. You got to be a part of it.
If you're watching this online, you can text the word "give" to 833-879-0161. This thing will pop up, and you can go to our website, Limitless Woodland.
But I get excited about the opportunity to participate in what God is doing.
Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice and those watching online.
God, I pray that You would speak to them right now, Lord. What is it that You would have them to give?
God, we don't want to give out of just, you know, whatever I got in my pocket. No, no, no, no. Speak to us, God.
We've set aside something, but we want to hear from You. You've called us to be generous.
You've called us to be generous with our seed. What do You want us to give, God?
We don't give for another person or to another person. God, we give to You that You would multiply, and we could see miracle after miracle after miracle.
Speak to us now, God. What would You have us to give?
God, thank You for speaking. We believe that we've heard You, and we make a decision to move out of faith and move out of obedience, knowing that You are the provider for everything that we had and that we have.
You give seed to the sower, and so we take an opportunity to sow like never before.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Do me a favor. The buckets are going to go by. When they go by, would you stand with me?
We're going to worship, and then we'll be released to participate in baptisms.
Can you stretch your hands? Gotta stretch your hand. Now you up here, gotta stretch your hand.
Stretch our hands towards our seed. When we stretch our hands here in this house, we're stretching our hands in agreement, saying that we believe in what God is going to do and what He can do as a result of our faith and our obedience.
Heavenly Father, I thank You. I thank You for the opportunity to be a part of what You are going to do.
God, we believe as a result of our obedience and our showing today, another one is on the way, that You would open up the windows of heaven, that we wouldn't have room enough to receive it.
God, I pray for those who gave today, God, those who gave out of the generosity of their hearts, those who gave out of the little that they have.
They made a decision that they trust You, God. And even those who didn't give today but had a heart to give, God, I pray that You would bless them, press down, shaking together, and running over.
We believe in the miracle that is about to happen as a result of this seed. Another one is on the way.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Go, Miss Keisha, if you are here today, I want to offer you something very quickly before we go to baptism.
I'm going to have all the team come forward. If you're here today and you heard what I said and you said, "Pastor, I have not made Jesus Lord and Savior," today's the day to get that done.
Tomorrow is not promised. Next Sunday is not promised. Next week is not promised.
Today is the day of salvation. Today is the day that you say, "God, I need You."
And He says that if you believe in your heart, we talked about what belief is today, and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, you shall be saved.
Make today the day of salvation. We would love to pray with you and walk you through that.
Secondly, if you're here today and you say, "Pastor, I might have said it a minute ago, but I haven't really been living a life that lines up with my belief," then I want to offer you the opportunity to recommit your life to Christ.
It's this beautiful image just like this: Jesus and the prodigal son, where the son is coming home, and the father is there with open arms ready to receive his son.
He doesn't ask what he did. He doesn't ask where he's been. He didn't ask where he came from.
He just had his hands open, ready to receive him. That's what Jesus is with His arms open.
He's not asking where you're from and where you came from and what you did. He just wants you. He wants all of you.
So if you'd like to recommit your life today, we want to have the opportunity to pray with you and pray for you.
And lastly, you're here today, and you heard this message, and you say, "Pastor, I want to get baptized. I want to make a public commitment that my life now belongs to Jesus."
And guess what? We got baptisms today, and we would love to participate in to celebrate with you and to pray with you and to all that God has done.
But I didn't sign up. Consider this your sign up.
We want to celebrate this big moment with you and walk with you through this commitment.
We have a new believers class that we have some great teachers and some things that are happening.
We would love to pray with you, walk with you, and get you into belonging and what that means, being here, serving here, here, making this your new family.
If either one of those things apply to you, I would love that opportunity.
And don't worry, you got time. You're not going to miss what's happening.
But this is important because today is the very day that could change the trajectory of the rest of your life just like it did mine.
Today is the day of salvation. So if that's you today, as we dismiss, would you make your way over here, get some prayer, and let's see...
Let's see another one. Let's see the miracle of another one happen in your life today.
I believe it's so. So if that's you, make your way to our altar team.
We're going to dismiss at this time. I'm going to pray.
But before that, I got two things. The first thing is please grab your kids on your way out.
Hallelujah. No, seriously, we want the kids to see this and be a part of this as well as our leaders, to have an opportunity to witness and celebrate with you.
Because when your kids see it, amen, parents, when your kids see it, have something that they see and they...
What's that? Well, what does that mean? Well, why are they doing that?
Well, who is Jesus? Well, I want to make Jesus... Oh, come on now.
Process that started. So we want them to be a part of that.
And secondly, I need you to do me a favor. Next week, next Sunday, I believe that I am going to...
I believe the Lord has given me a message that is going to change the trajectory of our church.
And I need you to be here. I need you to be here.
I do not want you to miss this Sunday. I know some of y'all only see y'all anyway, but I need y'all here next week, okay?
We got room. We got space. It is going to be a day that we will mark in the history of this church for the rest of the life of this church.
But it only happens if you show up.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for these people and those that are watching online right now.
Thank You for the word that went forth today. I pray that it will permeate in the hearts of each person.
I pray for experiences where people will be able to communicate Your gospel this week.
I pray for opportunities for people to talk about salvation, to talk about baptism, to talk about belonging to those that they never thought that they would talk to.
I pray for opportunities for the fire of Christ to be ignited on the inside of them, to communicate Your love to those that are around them as they are at work this week, as they are at home this week, as they're with their family this week, that they would encounter Jesus through the very people that are sitting in this room and watching online.
I declare that Your seed has been sown, and it will produce a hundredfold harvest in the lives of these people.
In Jesus' name, amen.
God bless you. Don't forget to come. If that was you, if any of those things apply to you, please go to our team.
Please go get your kids. If you made the decision right now to go get baptized, go outside, talk to our table, and we'll get it taken care of for you.
I will see you shortly. Everyone can go outside. You can go out this side door, and we will meet you in the parking lot for our baptisms.
God bless.
### Quotes for Outreach
1. "Belief is not based on your circumstance. Belief is not based on how you feel. Belief isn't even based on what you see. Belief is a decision to say, I trust God. I trust his word regardless of what it looks like, regardless of what I feel like. I choose to stand in belief." [34:06](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
2. "There's something significant about having something that's new. It changes you. It changes how you move. It changes how you feel. It changes how you interact. It changes what you do. Ladies, when you get a new dress, you walk a little bit differently in the new dress than you did in the other dress. You feel a little bit more confident when you move differently because it's new." 3. "When you have a new outfit on, you know, you don't want people really hugging you like that because you don't want to get makeup. You wear some new pair of shoes. Guys, you want to make sure nobody don't step on your toe in the morning time as soon as you get to church in your new shoes. Hallelujah. You're different when you acquire something new, especially something that has a value attached to it." [41:33](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
4. "Belief is a trust, it is a faith, and it is a commitment that goes beyond intellectualism. It goes beyond intellectual agreement. It involves fully relying on Jesus for life and for salvation, acknowledging him as Lord and Savior, and is demonstrated through a transformed life that aligns with Jesus and his teachings." 5. "Baptism is a public declaration of your confession of Jesus Christ. Baptism is your way of saying, 'Hey, I have made Jesus Lord of my life, and I am letting the world know.' It is a symbolic representation of a Christian's participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. As you go under the water, it signifies you dying to your old life and sin. As you're under the water, it symbolizes you being buried like Jesus was buried. And as you come out of the water, it represents your new life in Christ." ### Quotes for Members
1. "We are a tri-part being: spirit, soul, and body. When you get saved, it is not your body that changes. Your soul is in the process of changing, but what changes the moment that you move into belief is your spirit. Your spirit is the thing that changes. The previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away. It becomes new at the moment of belief." [44:11](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
2. "Belief is a choice. You wake up every day and make choices. Belief is a choice. I choose to believe. And the enemy wants to get you out of belief. And so when you're here and you have this opportunity, I pray that you don't take it for granted because more than anything, it's an opportunity for you to get out of unbelief." 3. "Belief, baptism, and belonging. This isn't a country club where we try to keep people out. This is a hospital where we're ready to welcome everyone in because we all know we all got areas. We all got things, and we're all here together trying to get it right. When stuff happens, this is where you need to be. When stuff goes bad, we don't run out. No, we come in. This, because family is the one that's going to be there." [01:12:32](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
4. "We celebrate this new life in Christ. We celebrate what God has called us to do, and we recognize that when something is so good and we realize all that he's done, we got to respond to it. We have an opportunity to respond to his love, an opportunity to respond to his grace. And one of the ways we do that here at Limitless is we do that through our giving." 5. "When you begin to walk out that belief, things start to change. The old things have passed away. The new things have passed away. The new has come. Why? Because my actions start to correspond with my belief. I believe, therefore I do. I believe, therefore I do." [48:06](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
6. "This new life in Christ is not just a concept. It is a transformation that touches every part of our life, every part of our being. We believe, and in that belief, we are made new. We step into the waters of baptism, not out of a ritual, but out of a declaration of our rebirth and our commitment to Jesus. And in this new journey, we belong. We're no longer isolated, but we are part of a vibrant, loving family in Christ." [01:14:25](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
