In my sermon, I emphasized the importance of living a presence-centered life, one that is deeply rooted in the continuous awareness of God's presence. I stressed that it is God's will for us not to live in spiritual dryness but to be filled with the Spirit, overflowing with fruit, and consumed by His life and presence. This kind of living demonstrates that Jesus Christ reigns on the throne of our lives and that we are abiding in Him.
I shared that the simplest kingdom revelations are often the most profound. To bear fruit, we must abide in Jesus. Without abiding, we wither and spiritually suffocate. Abiding in Jesus means living continuously in the awareness of God's presence, not just during prayer or spiritual activities, but in every moment of our lives, whether we're working, driving, or engaging with others.
I recounted the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, highlighting how their sin led to disconnection from God's presence. I warned against allowing anything into our lives that could lead us away from God, whether it be profane music, unholy movies, or any form of entertainment that distracts us from God's will for our lives.
I reassured the congregation that living for God is good and fulfilling, contrasting it with the emptiness of life without God. I encouraged everyone to live a presence-centered life, which is the whole reason Jesus died—to restore our fellowship with God.
I also addressed the dangers of listening to the serpent's voice, which represents deception and unbelief. I urged the congregation to reject such voices and to stay rooted in God's Word and presence.
I concluded by inviting the congregation to experience the fullness of a presence-centered life, which offers peace, joy, and fulfillment. I called on everyone to reconnect with the vine, which is Christ, and to live in the vitality of His presence.
Key Takeaways:
- Living a presence-centered life is about maintaining a constant awareness of God's presence in every aspect of our daily lives. This awareness is not contingent on our spiritual activities but is a state of being that we cultivate through our relationship with God. It is in this unceasing connection that we find the strength and vitality to bear fruit in the kingdom of God. [01:07:14]
- The story of Adam and Eve serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of disconnecting from God's presence. Their experience in the Garden of Eden reminds us that we were created for fellowship with God, and when we allow other voices to distract us from this purpose, we risk losing the very essence of our spiritual life. [01:18:46]
- The enemy's voice, like the serpent's, seeks to draw us away from God's presence by making us question His word and His will for our lives. It is our responsibility to discern these deceptive voices, reject them, and align our thoughts and actions with the truth of God's Word. [01:11:32]
- The fullness of a presence-centered life is not an unattainable ideal but a reality that God desires for each of us. It is characterized by an abundance of spiritual fruit, peace that surpasses understanding, and a deep sense of fulfillment that comes from being in close communion with God. [01:05:51]
- Reconnecting with the vine, which is Christ, is the simple yet profound solution to spiritual dryness and weariness. No matter how far we may have strayed, the blood of Jesus has the power to restore our relationship with God as if we had never left. This is the hope and promise of the gospel. [57:48]

Day 1: Cultivating Constant Awareness
Presence-centered living requires a continuous, conscious awareness of God's presence in every aspect of life. It's not limited to times of worship or prayer but extends into the mundane activities of daily living. This awareness is cultivated through a relationship with God, where one's existence becomes intertwined with the divine, leading to a life that bears fruit in the kingdom of God. This fruitfulness is a testament to the reign of Jesus Christ in one's life, demonstrating a true abiding in Him. [07:14]
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me." - John 15:4 ESV
Reflection: How can you practice the presence of God in a routine task you'll do today?
Day 2: Reclaiming Original Fellowship
The narrative of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden serves as a poignant reminder of the fellowship we were created to enjoy with God. Their disconnection from God's presence due to sin is a cautionary tale for us, highlighting the importance of guarding our hearts and minds against influences that can lead us astray. By staying true to our purpose and maintaining our connection with God, we avoid the spiritual decay that comes from succumbing to distractions that vie for our attention. [18:46]
"But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, 'Where are you?'" - Genesis 3:9 ESV
Reflection: What distractions do you need to remove from your life to better focus on God's presence?
Day 3: Discerning Deceptive Voices
The enemy's voice, symbolized by the serpent in the Garden of Eden, seeks to lead us away from God's presence by sowing seeds of doubt and unbelief. It is crucial to discern these deceptive voices, reject their lies, and align our thoughts and actions with the truth of God's Word. By doing so, we protect our spiritual well-being and ensure that we remain in the life-giving presence of God. [11:32]
"Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long." - Psalm 25:5 ESV
Reflection: What lies have you believed about God's character, and how can you replace them with truth today?
Day 4: Embracing the Fullness of God's Presence
The fullness of a presence-centered life is a reality that God desires for each of us. It is characterized by peace, joy, and fulfillment that come from being in close communion with God. This life is not an unattainable ideal but a promise of the gospel, made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. By living in God's presence, we experience an abundance of spiritual fruit and a peace that surpasses all understanding. [05:51]
"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7 ESV
Reflection: In what ways can you invite God's peace into a current situation you're facing?
Day 5: Reconnecting with the Vine
Reconnecting with the vine, which is Christ, is the antidote to spiritual dryness and weariness. No matter the distance we have strayed, the blood of Jesus has the power to restore our relationship with God as if we had never left. This restoration is the hope and promise of the gospel, inviting us to live in the vitality of His presence and bear fruit in every season of our lives. [46:48]
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:5 ESV
Reflection: What steps can you take today to deepen your connection with Jesus, the true vine?
We praise you, Jesus.
Come on, let's lift up our voices in this place and begin to praise the Lord.
God, you are worthy to receive our praise, Jesus. You are worthy to receive our praise.
God, we lift up your name today, Lord. We lift up your name.

God, we love you, Jesus. Lord, we are nothing without you, God.
Lord, there is no one like you, Jesus. God, there is no one that compares to you.
God, you are great and greatly to be praised, Jesus.

We love you in this house, Jesus.
I love you, Jesus. I love you, Jesus.
You are worthy, Lord. You are worthy, Lord.
With your hands lifted, let's just sing that to him right now.
You are worthy, Lord. To receive everything.
You are worthy, Lord. Of all the glory, Jesus.
You are worthy, Lord.
C'mon in this house just give Him the glory.
Lord, we give you our honor tonight, Jesus.
There is no one worthy of honor but you, God.
There is no one worthy of glory like you, Jesus.
There is no one worthy of power like you, Lord.
You are King of kings and Lord of lords.
You are Alpha and Omega, God.
You stand alone, Jesus.
There is one God, and His name is Jesus.
Here, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
And we worship you tonight, Jesus.
You are the one seated on the throne.
You are the one that will reign forever.
You are great and greatly to be praised, Jesus.
There is no one like you.
There is no one like you.
There's no one like you.
There's no one like you.
And as it is in heaven, let Your kingdom come.
You reign forever, reign forever.
And on earth as in heaven, let Your will be done, Lord.
You reign forever, reign forever.
As it is in heaven, let Your kingdom come.
You reign, Lord.
And on earth, on earth as in heaven, let Your will be done.
You reign, Jesus.
As it is in heaven, let Your kingdom come.
You will reign forever.
You will reign forever.
You will reign forever.
We will lift your name forever and ever.
God, we lift towards that day where all we will do is worship you, God, where all we will do is magnify your name before your throne.
God, we pray right now that your throne would come into this room.
We love you, Jesus.
We love you, Jesus.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in the spirit in this room.
There is an atmosphere of prayer that has just come into this room.
Just begin to pray in your own way.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in your own way.
Just begin to pray in your own way.
Just begin to pray in your own way.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in your own way.
Just begin to pray in your own way.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in your own way.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in your own way.
Come on, why don't you just begin to pray in your own way.
Your name's a mighty fortress.
Say your name.
Anything can happen.
Anything can happen.
Anything can happen the moment that you walk in.
Anything can happen.
Anything can happen.
Anything can happen the moment that you walk in, Jesus.
When you step into it.
Anything can happen.
Anything can happen.
The moment.
The moment that you walk in.
Anything can happen.
The moment that you're walking.
We believe that anything can happen in the name of Jesus.
When Jesus steps into the room, there is power.
There is wonder-working power when Jesus steps into the room.
Ayah number 4, Ayah number 5.
Come on, the Spirit of God is here moving in this room right now.
Can we just lift our hands to heaven?
And lift your voice along with your hands.
Let's connect vertically with our Savior right now.
He's here in this room to respond.
He's here in this room to meet needs.
He's here tonight to love you where you are.
And to call you deeper into his kingdom.
Oh hallelujah.
There's a sovereign move of the Holy Ghost that's here right now.
Oh yes.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Let's just turn this into a little prayer meeting for just a moment right now.
Oh hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Whatever you came here tonight needing, I want you to know Jesus is able.
Jesus is able.
Jesus is able.
Jesus is able.
Oh anything can happen here.
Cause you're here.
Because Jesus is here.
Jesus is here.
That's why we came tonight, huh?
To encounter him.
He's here right now.
He's here right now.
Oh yes, oh yes.
Oh there's a reverence and fear of the Lord that's here right now.
Oh, we lift you high, Jesus.
We lift you high, Jesus.
We lift you high, Jesus.
Be enthroned in this church.
Be enthroned in this congregation, God.
Take preeminence, have all reign and authority.
Scrap our agendas and put yours down in front of us, God.
What an honor, Lord, it is that you, the King of heaven, would make your habitation among us so lowly down here.
But yet here we stand and we feel your presence.
Mm, church, do you know who's in the room with you right now?
It's Jesus.
It's Jesus who's made his habitation here.
Sometimes it's so easy to sing the songs, and I know we don't just sing the songs and move on here, but it's so easy to just sing the songs and be aware of what God has done for us and his majesty and his power and his authority on a head level.
But it's a whole other thing when our heart, our soul, and our mind connect, and our soul begins to rejoice and respond to the power and the majesty of God.
I wonder if we just lift our hands right now, and I just want you to just be in your own way with me.
Recognize him as Lord of your life right now.
Come on, tell him, God, you can sit on the throne of my heart.
You can sit on the throne of my heart, Jesus.
I'm all yours, nobody else's.
I didn't come tonight for any other reason but to encounter you, God.
So I say just have your way in my life.
Have your way in this service.
Come on, let your soul delight in the Lord right now.
Let your soul delight in the Lord right now.
He is a good father, and he is comforting some of you in this room right now, and he's nourishing some of you in this room right now.
His presence is here right now.
In his presence is fullness of joy; at his right hand, pleasures forevermore.
In his presence, his presence is here.
The Bible says where the spirit of the Lord is, that is his presence, there is liberty or freedom.
So I just want you to just embrace the liberty and the freedom of God right now.
If you've walked into here and you've got a heavy weight on your shoulders, maybe you've been burdened down with something, I just want you to just take it off right now.
The Bible says cast your cares on him because he cares for you.
You don't have to carry the heavy weight.
God didn't give it to you.
He said take up on my yoke and learn of me, for my yoke, it's not a heavy burden.
It's easy and it is light.
I wonder if you could reach over to the person that's beside you if they're good with it.
And we're gonna take a moment and we're just going to pray and invite God to do his will tonight in all of our lives.
I know we've been praying and we've been worshiping, but we're gonna ask the Lord to have his way with us.
Can we just pray that prayer together?
God, let your will be done tonight.
Let your will be done in this church.
Let your will be done in each, every individual life.
God, every home, every family that's represented here tonight, Jesus.
Oh, take full preeminence, God.
Take full preeminence now.
Rote alabakasad alaba shatayand alababasayand alabaha.
Ah, yes.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Shindololoboko shatayand alababasayand alabahaya.
Yes.
Now you know that God responds to the praises of his people.
He inhabits the praises of his people, that's what he does.
Now, praise is not a work, it's an acknowledgement.
I'm acknowledging who he is.
When I acknowledge who he is, that's not me working for anything.
So when you get into the presence of God, you don't have to work for that.
You don't have to, and we jump up and down and we praise and we shout and we give God glory and all that stuff, but you can't do that enough to get God to move.
God moves because he moves, okay?
You can't make God move, but you can just simply adore who he is.
And when you do that, it's not about what you're doing, jumping up and down.
It's about the attitude of the heart toward God.
And when you direct your attitude toward him, he inhabits the praises of his people.
So sometimes I think we get in this mode where we think sometimes we may have to work ourselves into the presence of God.
You do not have to do that.
You do not have to work yourself into the presence of God.
When you just praise him, he shows up.
He just shows up.
Yes.
Why don't you take a minute or two and greet the people that are around you?
Do a little meet and greet, love on some people.
Welcome to Apostolic Church.
This is a loving church, a presence-centered church.
We love you, we love people, and we love the presence of God here.
Make yourself welcome, make yourself comfortable.
Yes.
Hallelujah.
Thank you, Jesus.
Welcome back, bro, love you.
Yes, sir.
Praise God.
Praise God.
Yes.
Hallelujah.
Amen.
Amen.
Praise God.
If this is your first time with us tonight, we wanna welcome you to the house of God.
Can we celebrate all of our new people that are here today for the first time?
Apostolic Church is a great place to call home.
I don't just say that because I go here or because I pastor this church.
I say it because it's been such a blessing to my family.
And this is a family.
And so if you are first time here, I'll say welcome to the family.
And it's an easy place to call home.
Yeah, we can clap our hands, there you go.
If you're looking for a place where you can connect with God and follow Jesus with people, you've come to the right house.
Here at Apostolic Church, we are a presence-centered church.
I'm gonna talk about that tonight.
Everything that we do, everything that we are comes out of our connection with God.
And we are a Jesus-following church, which means we follow him.
But if you'll notice in the scriptures, every time that somebody was following Jesus, they were never doing it by themselves.
So how we follow Jesus here at Apostolic Church, we follow Jesus together.
Not only on Sundays like this, but all throughout the week, we've got five groups that we call neighborhoods.
And they meet all over the DFW Metroplex.
We've got one in Fort Worth, one in West Plano Frisco, three here in the Northern Central Dallas area.
And if you wanna find community with people who you can lock in with and follow Jesus with and really grow, I wanna invite you to join a neighborhood.
If you've never joined a neighborhood, I want to encourage you to get in one.
If you want to do that, you can text this number that's right up here on the screen in this corner at any point in the service.
You'll get a link back.
You'll find the slot that says neighborhoods.
You can see the ones that are around you.
Everybody say welcome to Apostolic.
So if you're relatively new here, not just your first time, but you've been here for a little bit, I wanna encourage you to register for our welcome to Apostolic gathering that is happening this coming Sunday immediately following service.
So if you're new around here or you wanna know more about who this church is, how you can get involved with what God is doing, come to the welcome to Apostolic gathering.
You'll learn all that you need to learn and there will be food provided.
Can somebody say amen?
Amen.
Are y'all ready for the word of the Lord?
We're ready for God's word.
Praise God.
All right.
Prayer is not prayer.
Preaching, the preaching of the word of God is not an exercise of communicating information.
It is a spiritual thing.
And so here's what we're going to do.
This is not a lecture.
This is something we're participating in together, learning God's word together.
And through his word, we are worshiping him in spirit and in truth.
So before we take a step forward, I just want you to lift your hand with me and just ask God, Lord, minister to me tonight.
Prepare my heart to receive everything that you have.
God, I pray that you would move tonight through the preaching of the word of God.
I pray that as I preach your word, Lord Jesus, that people would be healed.
I pray that as I preach your word, Lord, that your word would set free people, deliver people from oppressions, depressions, things that they have been going through, God.
I pray that the veils would be lifted off of our eyes so that we can walk in the spirit of wisdom and revelation and worship you holy in spirit and truth, Lord.
Let your kingdom come in the service tonight.
Let your will be done right here at Apostolic Church as it is in heaven.
Everybody say amen.
Say a little louder, say amen.
Say amen.
All right, there we go.
Yeah, you got it.
We're here, we're alive.
We're awake.
All right, I know sometimes when it gets a little stormy, it makes you wanna kinda go to sleep a little bit.
I'm with you.
John chapter seven, verse 37 through 38, John 4:14.
I'm going to be reading from these two passages if you wanna find your way there.
Let's stand for the reading of the word of God.
I know sometimes we don't do that all the time, but I like to do it every now and then.
Let's stand for the reading of God's word, showing honor for his word.
John 7:37, on the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
And he who believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water."
Does anybody know what he's talking about right here?
You have that river of living water flowing in you.
Yes, a few of you.
We got five people filled with the Holy Ghost tonight.
Come on, hallelujah.
John 4:14 says this, "But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him, he will never thirst.
But the water that I will give him will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
Praise God.
I'm gonna also read Psalm 16 verse 11.
"You will show me the path of life, and in your presence is fullness of joy."
I want you to say that with me.
"In your presence, there is fullness of joy."
Lift your hand right now and receive that.
I wouldn't even need to preach an ounce longer if we could just understand what's in his presence right now.
Come on, just lift your hands to heaven and say, "God, I receive the joy that is in your presence."
I receive the joy that is in your presence and I want you to stand at your right hand where you're just ready to extend it.
There are pleasures forevermore.
Pleasures forevermore.
Can I tell you tonight that living for God is good?
Am I in a room full of people who can testify that living for God is good?
Now, there is a way that you could live and it is without God.
Can I tell you, I've tried that way, and many of us in this room tonight, we have tried that way, and here is what we have found.
That living without God is no good.
Living for God is beautiful.
There is a quote that I heard.
I can't remember if it was my pastor who said this, but I think I said that my pastor said this last time and my wife was like, "I don't think that was him," but I'll say it was him anyways.
Living for God is easy.
Living for God easy is hard, but living for God hard is easy.
So if you're serious about living for God, it'll be easy.
If you're not serious about living for God, it's gonna be a hard walk.
So let's talk about it tonight.
Y'all can sit down, be seated in the presence of God.
I wanna talk to you tonight about what it means to live a presence-centered life.
A presence-centered life.
And you've heard me say this.
We've said this all over our social media, on Instagram ads.
I've preached this.
You've said this to somebody.
If you've been a part of our neighborhoods and gone evangelizing into the streets, by the way, we're doing that this week.
Hallelujah.
You've probably handed out a card that says one encounter with Jesus changes everything.
Just one encounter.
All throughout the Bible, story after story, a room full of people, example after example of what happens when you just meet Jesus.
Everything turns on end.
But imagine what an unending, unceasing connection with His presence can do.
Imagine the power of one encounter.
You know that.
But have you ever considered what would happen if that connection and encounter never stopped?
If any area of your life tonight is withering, I would say that the first question you should ask is am I abiding in God?
I preached about this last week and we're building on that a little bit tonight.
Am I dwelling in Him, remaining in Christ?
Am I doing that?
If your life seems to be dry tonight, maybe the question you should ask is am I living a life that is centered around the presence of God?
Because just as a natural branch will begin to wither once it is disconnected from the vine, as branches ourselves because Jesus said that we are, it is inevitable that we too will begin to wither when and if we have disconnected from our source, which is His presence.
You must know tonight that this withering that can take place in the life of a believer, you are that branch.
It is not immediate.
It takes time.
Just as you can cut off a branch of a tree, it will remain green for a season.
If you're cutting up trees and you're making firewood, you're not just gonna be able to cut a branch off and then go burn it because if it's green, it'll just smoke, it won't burn.
So is it that when we get disconnected from truly abiding in God, that we remain slightly alive for a moment, all the while on a fast track pace to spiritual death.
It will take time, but it is the inevitable conclusion of a disconnection from God.
And maybe tonight you find yourself in a fog.
Maybe you're in a season where you feel dry or weary.
Maybe you feel somewhat far from God.
Has anybody ever been there?
You've been in one of those seasons.
I've been there before.
You're not weird if you feel that way.
We've all been there.
Maybe you feel like God is far from you.
The truth is the feelings that come as associated with this position of life are enormous feelings.
I can't think of anything that has caused me more concern in my life.
If I felt far from God, it caused me to be very concerned.
And the feelings were overwhelming if I ever felt that way.
And this is a type of fret, worry and panic that can show in your emotions, that can even set in for you and be deeply rooted in your life when you don't feel connected to God.
These emotions can be enormous.
It is often when someone begins to experience this that they quickly begin scrambling.
We've all been here.
I'm describing something that we've all walked through here.
You begin scrambling to try and figure out.
Now, sometimes, like I said, it takes a while.
You're disconnected from the vine and all of a sudden you're still good for a little while, but then all of a sudden you realize that you're brittle and you're not producing any fruit and you can't find spiritual life in you anymore and you start to freak out a little bit.
And you begin to try and quickly try and rearrange everything in your life to put everything back together the way that you know that it needs to so that you can be right with God.
And it is from this type of fret that you may begin to try solutions that you feel match the enormity of your emotions.
But the feelings associated with the disconnection with God are enormous.
The solution is not one of enormity.
It's a small and simple solution.
When someone reveals to me that they are perpetually in a weary place or that they are weak and they've been walking through a dry place and they just can't get out of it.
Now, I want to preface this by saying God created plants and He gave us the example of abiding in Him by looking at one of the plants that He created.
He created those plants to exist within the four seasons that He created.
One of those seasons is winter.
Now, we just are coming out of winter.
If you go outside, you're going to see leaves on trees.
That means that the tree is alive.
But can I tell you two months ago when there was nothing on the tree, it does not mean the tree is dead.
So you might not be disconnected from God.
You just might be in winter.
And you have to understand that when God created trees and caused them to go through winter, that their leaves would fall off and all the fruit would go away.
It's of that season as well under His scope that He also said it is good.
Can I encourage somebody tonight, if you feel like you're in a dry place, there is a way that is good here.
You just got to keep going through the seasons.
I got to encourage somebody here tonight.
You may feel like you are fruitless right now.
Can I tell you, if you're connected with God and you're doing the right things and you're praying and you're fasting and you're reading your Bible and you're faithful to the community of God, hey, you could just be in a winter season.
And maybe you're just three weeks, four weeks, five weeks away from spring showing up on the horizon and fruit being everywhere.
You need to endure.
The Bible says this, he that endures to the end will be saved.
Can I tell you, if you will endure winter, spring is coming.
You know the thing that we didn't think about?
We didn't think, is spring coming this year?
Man, if spring doesn't come this year, we didn't really have a bad winter.
But you know, imagine if you were up in like Minnesota or something, could you imagine living in perpetual winter?
I could not do it.
The seasons always are going to come and change.
But here's the thing, the question is, yes, you could be in a winter season, but if you're staying in this place through every season, the first question that I have for you is, are you abiding in the presence of the living God?
Are you living a presence-centered life?
What part of your, what is your life centered around?
Is your life centered around the vine, which is Christ, or have you disconnected from Him?
Are you delighting in Him?
We've got to master that art, by the way, the art of delighting in God.
Are we delighting in Him, or have you lost the spark of your passion for His presence?
Are you living your life in the continual awareness of the presence of God, and yes, you can do that, or have the cares of this world stolen your gaze from God?
Is Jesus your full fixation, or has His presence become peripheral for you?
And oftentimes, in almost every case, the conclusion matches the solution.
The withering soul has often disconnected from the vine, and the only way to restore vitality to the spiritual soul of man who has disconnected from God is very simple.
All you have to do is reconnect with the vine.
Can I tell you tonight, if you are not bearing witness, bearing fruit in your life of connection with God, just hang in there, get back in the vine.
In the Old Testament, you transgress against the law, good luck to you, but in the New Testament, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous, and if you sin, or if you fall short, or if you walk away from God, as long as the blood is still working, you've always got an opportunity to get in right standing with God.
Let me tell you about the power of the blood of Jesus.
He can restore your relationship as if you never walked away.
You just need to get the story of the prodigal front and center, and understand that the Father, when the prodigal who had walked away from God, spent all the Father's money and inheritance that he gave him, when he showed up to the Father's house, the Father ran and met him as if nothing ever happened.
I'm telling you, the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to restore you with God.
I don't care where you've been, I don't care how long you walked away, I don't care what it is that the enemy is accusing you of.
The enemy has no accusation against the blood of Jesus Christ.
The Bible says we have a mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, but the adversary is the accuser.
If there's anything that's ever accusing your status with God, it's not Jesus doing it.
He's advocating for fellowship.
He's constantly advocating on your behalf saying, "Hey, I know they walked away, but look at me."
Understand this, when you get in Christ, you are seen in Christ.
You have to understand what this means to be in Christ.
If you are in Christ, you are a new creature.
When God looks at you, he doesn't see your failures, he sees the blood of Jesus Christ.
When you have repented and you have been buried with Christ in baptism, you have been filled with the Holy Ghost, you are in Christ and you are a new creation because it's not your merits that saved you, it is the one who you are in that is saving you.
Does this make sense?
There's nothing you can do except get in Christ, amen.
Natural, yet simple observations oftentimes bring great spiritual revelation.
Consider an old village, how they were constructed.
The first thing that they would do when they were building a communal dwelling place together is to make sure that they built it within proximity of water.
They needed a water source and whether it was a well or a spring or a river, Dallas was founded because there were springs here.
They discovered in doing this a not so hidden secret and that is, is that if they would build their dwelling places around water, that they would always have access to the chance at life.
And this brings an even greater understanding of what Jesus said when he sat down at the well with a Samaritan woman in John four, verse 13 and we read verse 14, but we'll read 13 first now.
And Jesus says to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, this water, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him, he will never thirst, but the water that I will give will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
And he later says this, and we read this earlier in John chapter seven, on the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood crying out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come unto me and drink."
Three chapters later, he's talking about the same water and he who believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
Now, if we had any question as to what Jesus was talking about, he goes, the writer goes on to explain it and he says this, "But this he spoke concerning the spirit whom those believing in Christ would receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified," but he was talking about the spirit of God, his presence.
Can I tell you tonight, and I said this last week, I'll say it again, Jesus is not a liar.
We have to believe him at his word.
Maybe it wasn't last week, maybe it was the week before.
We have to believe God at his word.
If he said it, it's settled, it's done, it's established.
So if Jesus says, "I'm gonna give you water to drink, and if you drink of this water and stay drinking of this water, you're never going to thirst again," we have to understand it's true.
Can I tell you tonight, if you are weary or you are withering or you are beaten down, down, shot and worn out, beat down, whatever it is, you're overcome with the cares of life.
There really is a water that if you drink of it, you will never thirst again.
There really is a water that will satisfy the longing of your soul.
It is a living water.
When was the last time you took a drink of it?
Now, the kingdom is elementary.
It's not crazy.
You don't have to have a PhD to understand the kingdom.
Jesus speaks in natural things for a spiritual revelation.
When was the last time you took a drink of the living water?
Let me ask you this, when was the last time you drank a drink of the living water, not just to survive, but for the hydrating of the soul?
You can survive 40 days without food, but you can't even hardly survive a week without water.
Without his presence, it is no wonder why we become brittle, we become weary, we become withered, we become spiritually weak because we need the water of life to sustain our soul.
And if we don't have his presence, you don't have anything.
If this church isn't fixated on the presence of God, shut the doors down.
But God has raised up this church.
The prophetic words that have gone forth over this house, he has raised it up to be a fountainhead.
And that from all directions of this church, this congregation, whether we meet in this building, we meet house to house in another building, wherever it may lead us, there is going to be a pulsing out of water, living water that is going to flood the city of Dallas with revival.
And those that are thirsty are going to come into the water and they are going to drink of water that they'll never thirst again.
But what about you?
There's water here that can save a whole city and a whole nation and a whole world.
But you could spend all day preaching about it and never draw it for yourself.
Can I tell you, I appreciate you giving a drink to somebody, but if you're not feeding yourself with the water of life, you're doing this wrong.
When we fly, my wife and I, especially with the baby now, they tell us this, if the oxygen mask dropped down, don't put it on your baby first, put it on yourself, why?
Because your baby can't get it for themselves because they don't know how to.
So if you pass out, well, then we're all up a creek without a paddle.
Can I tell you that you are valuable to God not only because you're a son and you're his daughter, but you are a valuable asset to the kingdom of God because God wants to use you to spread the gospel of the kingdom.
But if you're not living in the gospel of the kingdom, what good is that to you?
When I talk about this tonight, I'm not suggesting some type of fairy tale life that is out of reach.
Now I'm aware that there are times when somebody can say something like this and preach something like this, and you're like, man, that'd be nice.
Let's pull the veil back.
That is a reality.
Let me ask you this question.
Are you satisfied with living beneath the means by which God called you to live in?
I'm not painting an unattainable picture tonight.
I'm preaching a reality and what I'm talking about is attainable.
It is within reach.
And it is also God's highest intention for your life.
God wants you to walk in daily, continual awareness of his presence.
God wants you to perpetually walk in the deep shalom, which is the peace of God from his presence in your soul.
As I'm saying this, some of you are like, man, I'd really like that.
That sounds really nice.
God wants your soul to be deeply settled.
It's not the will of God that your soul is spinning out of control with anxious fits and panic.
It's not the will of God that you live life and fret and worry.
There is a peace that passes all understanding that God wants to anchor you in and settle in your spirit.
God wants you to abide so faithfully in the vine that you have such an abundance of fruit that you don't even know what to do with it.
Could you imagine maybe somebody in the room tonight and you feel like you got lacking a little bit of fruit in your life, what it would look like if you had baskets on baskets of spiritual fruit in your life to just hand out to others.
This is not merely something that is high and lofty and hard to attain.
This is the will of God.
It is not the will of God for you to walk around dry and weary, but rather it is the will of God for you to be full of the spirit, overflowing with fruit, completely consumed by his life and his presence.
This type of living, it proves that Jesus Christ is indeed sitting on the throne of your life and that you're abiding in him and that you've built your life around him.
What does the fruit say about your life?
I know this may sound simple and maybe too simple, but often the greatest of kingdom revelations are the simplest ones.
Here are some kingdom revelations for us tonight.
If you do not abide, you will not bear fruit.
If you do not remain in him, you will wither.
If you do not live in his presence, like a human without oxygen, you will spiritually suffocate.
If you do not stay hydrated with the water of his spirit, you will die of spiritual thirst.
Can we just distill things down tonight to the way that they really are?
Abiding in Jesus is the will of God for your life.
Living continuously in the awareness of the presence of God.
What do I mean by that?
I mean that while you're driving down the road, you don't have to like really get into like deep prayer to feel God's presence.
Where you just think on him and you're aware of his presence throughout the day.
Where you're working and while you're talking to a coworker, you can feel the brush of heaven.
While you're driving down the road, God just comes and sits down in the car with you and you can feel his presence.
You don't even have to be doing anything spiritual that you are connected to the vine.
Therefore the source of the vine, which is his presence is always flowing in your life.
Back to that place in the Edenic place with God walking in his presence is the whole reason why Jesus died.
The gospel of Jesus is to free you from the lack of connection with the presence of God and thereby through Christ walk in a deep place of continual fellowship with him.
In Genesis chapter three, the Bible discusses the moment by which Adam and Eve sin in the garden.
Now you have to understand they had a very easy life.
They were created in God's presence for God's presence.
We talked about this last week and there was a great peace, a great tranquility.
Everything was perfect in him.
There was nothing wrong or out of place.
It was simply, completely, entirely perfect.
But following a conversation with a serpent, can I pause tonight and let you know that it is entirely possible for you to live a presence-centered life and yet still have to make the choice to which voice you're gonna allow to have access to you.
Because a presence-centered life doesn't mean that the absence of temptation, there won't be the absence of temptation in your life.
You will still have to choose intentionally God's voice and mute the voices that speak contrary to God.
The first mistake that Adam and Eve made is that they grew accustomed to the presence of God.
They grew accustomed to the high honor and opportunity of what it meant to live in the presence of God.
They had allowed the beauty and opportunity of his presence, of his glory to become common.
This is the same mistake that we often make even today.
And it's from this place of his presence becoming common where the enemy begins to creep in and then he begins to speak.
And here is where Adam and Eve make their second mistake.
The first mistake was losing the awe and wonder of the presence of God.
The second mistake was that they let him talk.
They didn't take into consideration the severity of God.
Back to when God told him in Genesis 2:17, "But eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
That's the tree you should not eat of.
For in the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die."
Yet the more that they listened to the voice of the serpent, the more they permitted his tone, the more that they grew comfortable with his presence and even his suggestions, the more that they embraced the spirit of unbelief.
I want you to know what the spirit of unbelief sounds like and looks like.
It always shows up like this.
"Did God really say?"
If you are, if you have that voice going off in your life right now, that is the spirit of unbelief.
That's not your thought.
That is the serpent.
"Did God really say that?
Is that really true?"
It's like a constant question mark.
"Is that really what's going to happen to me if I eat that?
I don't think that's the case.
You should really be able to enjoy what you like.
After all, it's all good, right?
You should be able to consume that and remain and eat.
And I don't know why he said that because he's just upset because he thinks if you eat from that tree, you'll be just like him.
Just like him.
Isn't that rule a little extreme?"
And the sad part of the saga of the life of Adam and Eve, and so often is the truth in the case of many of us today, is that when you open your ears and your heart to receive the voices of deception in this world, and you allow unbelief to not just come into your ear, but to grip your heart, you are headed for an ejection from Eden.
There is only one way that leads, and it is out of the presence of God.
The voice that makes you question God only has one agenda, and that is to get you out of his presence.
Can I tell you what to do with that voice?
Mark it, identify it, separate from it, reject it, and get into the word of God.
You bring into captivity every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and what do you do?
You bring it into captivity, and you submit it to the word of God.
The enemy wants nothing more than to separate you from the presence of God, because if he can get you outside of the presence of God, he can get you fruitless, withered, beat down, and you know who he can beat there?
A withered, beat down, broken, brittle person.
But you are strong if you will stay rooted in the kingdom of God, if you will fill your life with the presence of God.
There is no attack, there is no voice, there is no thwarting plan of the enemy.
The Bible says the weapon can be formed, but for those that are in Christ, it will not prosper.
Every tongue that rises up against you in judgment, the Bible said he will condemn it.
Be careful what you allow into your life.
And I know you may think your pastor might be extreme sometimes.
Can I admit to you?
Sure, sure I am.
But I'm only sounding an alarm to pierce through the facade of the enemy's deceiving voice that wants to take you down, out, and away from the place that God has called you to dwell in.
I'm only letting you know you don't have to like me, but I have an obligation to preach you the truth because I want you to be saved and more than just being saved, I want you to be thriving in the kingdom of God.
And if I as a shepherd spy a wolf that's lurking on the exterior perimeter of the sheep, I'm going to call it out like it is because God wants us to be safe and secure in his presence.
My only desire is to keep you safe and secure in a presence-centered life that brings life and not death.
So if you ever wonder, man, why does he say that like that?
I'm just trying to keep you alive.
Hear me, it doesn't matter what the medium is that the voice is speaking through.
If it's profane music, watching unholy movies and television shows, you can stand up and call me legalistic if you want, but that is where the serpent is.
Podcasts, the news.
Man, we don't even, I don't even like watching the news anymore.
Even fictional books that depict unrighteous living.
Every one of these is resemblant of a conversation with the serpent at times.
And if you are not careful to silence the voice of the serpent, you are playing with fire for your soul.
More importantly, you are choosing entertainment over God's desire for your life.
I want to say that again.
You are choosing entertainment over God's desire for your life.
Yet even the reason why Christ died for you.
He died for you to put you in fellowship with him.
And the voice of that serpent is not trying to get you closer to God.
So often Jesus, with male scarred hands and feet, sits at a table where he has prepared a meal for us and like a parent who delights in fellowship with their child.
And yet, we so often choose to dine at the table of the one who desires to destroy us, not nourish us.
You know, there's nothing in the scripture that reveals that Adam and Eve wanted the tree of the knowledge of good and evil until the serpent arrived.
The Bible says this in Genesis 3:4 through 6, then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
For God knows that in the day that you eat of it, your eyes will be open and you will be like God knowing good and evil."
So when the woman saw, when the woman saw that the tree was good, can I tell you there was a period where she wasn't even paying attention to that thing?
But when she permitted access to the voice of the serpent, all of a sudden she's able to see just a little bit differently and where God was once sheltering her from seeing something that would bring destruction for her soul, now she's got full view and she desires after it.
She says, now that I see it's good for food, it's pleasant on the eyes.
You know, if she had been looking at it before, she would have known if it was pleasant or not.
But now that she's taken a look at it for the first time because the serpent said, "No, you can have that," she said, "Oh, I kind of like that.
I kind of want that," and the tree is desirable to make one wise.
Here's pride beginning to work now.
She took of its fruit.
She ate of it, gave it to her husband, and he ate too.
They were so enamored with the beauty and the fullness that they didn't even notice what was forbidden.
With the presence of God that you don't even notice the things that are desiring to take you out of the presence of God?
To the wrong voice, what was once almost hidden from them out there what was once almost hidden from them out of you simply because of their delight in the presence of God now becomes the only thing that she can fixate on.
Can I ask this question?
Why do we want the one thing that God says don't do that leads to death when there are so many things that God says we are free to do that lead to life?
It could be, and hear me when I say this, that you have allowed a serpent into your life that stole your gaze.
You started living for God and all you were thinking about was God, but you didn't turn off that voice.
You got connected to the vine and you were full of life, but you stopped the connection and you're trying to connect every Sunday or every time that you go to a neighborhood, but it's not enough time for the branch to come to life and bear fruit.
Just following the sin of Adam in verse eight of Genesis 3 we find a key of what it really means to live in the presence of God.
They've just sinned, now the Bible says that they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of God.
The Bible says they hid themselves from his presence.
The word here for presence is "pane" in the Hebrew which means face.
To be in the presence of God meant to be engulfed fully in the view of the face of God.
If you were going to be in someone's presence the way that they were in the presence of God it meant to be in the full view of his face.
To go even further, it would suggest that in order to be in someone's presence it meant that you must be face to face with them.
Can I interject here tonight with a heart of compassion and passion at the same time?
If you are living in deliberate sin I'm talking about sin that you know is sin and you're still living in sin and you know it doesn't please God and you know it's not righteous and yet you're still choosing to live in it and wondering why you can't live a life that is fully engaged in partaking in the benefits that you hear come from the beauty of the presence of a presence-centered life in the presence of God it is likely because you have chosen a different face to gaze upon.
Could it be that instead of being face to face with God you are face to face with a serpent?
If I am face to face with my wife by nature of being close like if she was right here I can't see anything else but her.
It reminds me of the old song that says this:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in his wonderful face.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace."
When I look at him everything else blurs out.
When I'm caught up in him, his light is so strong everything else begins to be dimly lit and I can't see anything else but him.
I'm here to tell you tonight that when Jesus is your full fixation everything else becomes peripheral.
And when I am consumed with his face in close proximity I cannot see what I should not see.
I want to tell this to you again.
When you are face to face with God living a presence-centered life everything else is peripheral there by everything that you are not supposed to see you cannot, will not see it because Jesus has your full gaze.
The enemy cannot make you eat from the wrong tree but he can by means of luring your gaze away from a full face to face view in the presence of God get you to fixate your eyes on that which otherwise you would have never even seen in the first place.
A presence-centered life is one that is lived face to face with God.
He must be all that you see.
What is it that is in full view for you tonight?
Are you trying to live for God and live this presence-centered life that he has called every disciple to but at the same time you are trying to share faces with him?
What else is it that is in your life that is not allowing you to have full view of God?
Can I tell you that the enemy would like to tempt you away from living a presence-centered life?
But I'm going to do something here for just a second and try and tempt you to it.
Who knows if I'll be successful?
Can I pull back the curtain right now away from and expose the fullness of what God has for you and what a presence-centered life really looks like?
Maybe this will wet your appetite.
Maybe this will make you hungry for him.
I hope that it does.
A presence-centered life is life and peace.
Doesn't that sound nice?
It's joy unspeakable and full of glory and I need that.
It's a father's love that surpasses an earthly father's love and cannot be described.
Feel the Holy Ghost.
It's a peace that goes beyond understanding and that is when you can't figure it out at his presence, his peace is the figuring it out.
It's safety and shelter from all harm.
It's what David said when he said it's green pastures and still waters that restores the soul.
It's everything that you were made for and everything that you long for.
Musicians, y'all come on back.
Now I don't know if I did a good enough job selling that but I've kind of learned that you don't need to sell God.
You just kind of got to give people an opportunity to know that it's possible to live the life that he declares and I am telling each and every person that is in this room tonight if you are weary why don't you just come meet Jesus?
And if you say I've met Jesus why don't you stay with him?
Why don't you remain in him?
You don't have life figured out.
You're worn out.
Why don't you come drink from the waters that Jesus said if you drink from this you'll never thirst again and why don't you come to do it and believe in that his word?
When was the last time you just sat and drank from the waters of God?
And it had nothing to do with serving.
It had nothing to do with a leadership role.
It had nothing to do with catching up on some hydration because you're dehydrated.
I'm the king of that in the natural sense by the way.
I'm dehydrated right now.
And so while I'm talking about spiritual things I'm feeling the physical things.
I've got a headache.
I need water.
Here we go, praise God.
I'll move on.
When was the last time that you just sat at the waters of God and drank them not because you needed to catch back up but just because the Lord says I want to feed you.
I want to nourish you.
When was the last time that you went to your Bible and you opened it up and it wasn't so that you could get the food you need today so you don't spiritually die tomorrow or next week and it was because you were feasting on him who is the word and partaking in the fullness of what he has for you?
When was the last time you did that?
You know it's easy living this life with God especially if you're involved in the kingdom of God and expanding his kingdom to be focused on all the things you have to do for him.
It's easy.
Some of you intercessors, you can get caught up on praying, praying, praying, praying, praying to expand the kingdom of God.
That's okay, but you don't even need to be touching that if fruit is not on your tree right now.
You can't pray prayers that make eternal impact if you're not praying them from eternal source.
This is why Jesus said if you abide in me and I in you you'll bear much fruit and whatsoever you ask you notice the order there whatever you ask I'll give it to you after you first understood the place of abiding in me.
If this present-centered life seems attractive to you I want you to know tonight that God has given you an opportunity to come into it and that if you've never walked with God this way and you've tried over and over again and you keep falling down and failing I am giving you a word from the Lord that's letting you know you don't have to keep living that way there is a way where you can stay in the presence of God and that weariness doesn't come.
There is a type of weariness that comes from our lack of abiding and then there is an attack that comes from the enemy the Bible says that the spirit of the antichrist has come to wear out the saints of the most high so we're not to confuse the one with the other there is an attack on the body of Christ right now with the spirit of the antichrist that is trying to wear out the people of God but how in the world can you resist that if in your own self you're battling weariness because you have stepped out of divine connection with the presence of God.
Why don't we stand all across this room right now?
I want you to just lift your hands to heaven with me right now if this sounds like a good deal to you and this sounds like a life that you're interested in living if this presence-centered life seems like something that you're game for you're tired of being weary you're tired of fretting and worrying and wondering when you're going to stop feeling this way or that way or you're tired of being this brittle Christian but you want to live in the full vitality of the presence of God I want to invite you to make your way down to this front right now because we're going to take a second and then graft ourselves into the vine and we're going to not just we're not going to invite God's presence but God's presence has already invited us we're just simply going to accept his invitation.
Come on if this is the life if you're lacking fruit in your life I'm telling you the only way for it to bear fruit in your life is if you will connect with the vine.
Oh come on let him be your delight.
Let him be your delight.
What is it that has stolen the gaze?
Kick it out.
What is it that has captivated your view?
Kick it to the curb.
What is it that has blocked your access to the presence of God?
Remove it from view.
There's a presence-centered life that God wants you to live and it is not just the opportunity that you could live there's a place in God that is the will of God for you to live in where you don't lack fruit where you're not always weary and heavy laden and burned down.
Come on God is ministering to somebody's soul here tonight.
God is ministering to somebody's soul here tonight.
Hallelujah.
Come on let's begin to pray and pray for one another right now.
Let's begin to pray.
There's a refreshing that is beginning to fall in this room right now.
There's a refreshing.
There's a refreshing.
Yes, you really can live that way.
Yes, you really can have joy, have peace, peace that can't be stolen, joy that can't be aborted.
Sanda yata.
If you've been disconnected with God for a while why don't you just make that connection afresh?
