1. "See, Jacob was a scoundrel. He was a cheater. He was a supplanter. In fact, his name actually translates. It's really a remarkable story. In fact, many ways, Jacob is a reminder of the old quote that God can strike a mighty lick with a crooked stick, that he can take failures and mistakes and use them for good. And he's a cheater. And he's a supplanter. And he's a cheater. And so what that means is that whoever's blown it, who's ever made a mistake, whoever has realized that they're not perfect, hint, that's all of us. It means that God can still move in our lives and do amazing and great things."

2. "God always sees us for what we can become instead of a who we are in the moment. See, because of God's grace, he can take that which is broken and make it whole, that which is lost and make it found, that which is evil and make it good. God can take anything and do something wonderful with it when that individual finally submits and surrenders to God. And that's the story of Jacob. And the truth is, that's our story too."

3. "See, God often will take us and isolate us because what he's dealing with is an intensely personal matter. And he isolates us to work on us, to work in us, so that he can work through us. Let me give you a couple examples. I call it a spiritual timeout, if you will. But we see this all through the Old Testament. We see it with Moses. In fact, next week when you read Moses, you're going to discover this."

4. "See, I believe that anytime we struggle with God or God's ways, we're wrestling with him and we're wrestling with his will. But this isn't a bad thing. See, God often takes us to the mat to stretch us, to teach us. He grabs a hold of us because he has a greater plan. He takes us down because he wants to build us up. He takes us down because sometimes he wants to take spiritual sandpaper and rub off some of the hard edges, or he wants to deal with some of the fleshly things."

5. "God does his best work when we get alone with him. He begins to work under the hood of our lives to tune us to his will. And to me, honestly, that's one reason a quiet time, a daily time with God is so important. In fact, I would go so far as to say this. If you'll spend time with God daily and you seek his will and you obey his will and you follow him, you're less likely to have those moments in which he takes you out. And you have to wrestle with him. If you wrestle with him daily, you won't have to wrestle with him in the big times."

6. "The truth is God's greatest work is forged through struggle, through hardship, and even tears. And this should cause us instead of to, instead of running from God, avoiding God, it should cause us to run from God. And so, you know, in some ways, theitus might be a Lukens hook and a marker, or the light at work. But for them, this is necessarily where the church tries to turn its attention and driveты into what God is doing through the law. Which is today because the brothers苦ed. We 귀 upon Christ. Because today we see and see it all, that we know whether we go against God or not. Israel. He'd be the family, the head of the family that would bring the Messiah. That was what God desired for him."

7. "Wrestling with God requires that we, our true selves. This is one of the most beautiful parts of this passage. See, we have a tendency to think that being connected with God is warm, fuzzy feelings and peaceful comfort and relief. But sometimes God, when he sees that we're doing things, when he sees that we're not going in the right direction or direction that's towards him, God steps in and through the Holy Spirit, he begins to confront us and deal with those issues in our lives. And what he's trying to do, he's trying to help us to see, ourselves for who we are in light of who he is."

8. "The secret to wrestling God is found in three words. Jacob said, I won't let go unless you bless me. I'm going to condense it. I think what he was saying is the secret to wrestling God is don't let go. Don't let go. Say that with me. Don't let go. That's the beauty. That's the life. The life altering secret is don't let go. Let me tell you why that's important because I have come throughout my ministry. I cannot tell you the number of times I've had someone come to my office and they've been saying, I've been wrestling with God. I've been struggling with this. I don't know if God's going to show up. I don't know when God's going to show up, if he's going to show up at all."

9. "God's blessings come to those who hold on to God with every fiber of their being, as they wrestle with God over the very fabric of their believing. I'm going to read that again. God's blessings come to those who hold on to God with every fiber of their being, even as they wrestle with God over the very fiber of their believing. Let me ask you, are you wrestling with God right now? Are you wrestling with something in your life? Is it a question? Is it an issue? Is it a concern? Is it a family matter? Is it a heartache? Is it a setback?"

10. "I think having a faith that refuses to let go is a faith that actually connects with God. So how do we do it? Four very quick things. This is what I've learned as I've gone through and I've wrestled with God. These are the four things I've learned that have helped me to get to the other side, that have helped me to experience victory with God. Number one is get along with God. Number Number three is get along with God. Number four is get along with God. has to isolate you, get alone with God and say, God, I'm struggling with this. Take your Bible with you. Sit down and say, God, I want to ask you to speak to me through your word. Speak to me through your spirit. But God, I want you."
