Worship is both the goal and fuel of missions. When nations lack knowledge of God’s glory, our calling is to carry His marvelous works into those spaces. The psalmist commands God’s people to proclaim His deeds so all peoples might join creation’s song. This isn’t about outperforming angels but answering the ache of silent places. Every heart turned to Christ becomes a new voice in the eternal chorus. Missions begins where worship hasn’t yet taken root. [15:48]

Hell’s reality isn’t a scare tactic but a sobering motivation for urgency. Our witness flows not from duty but from broken-hearted love for those drifting toward darkness. Silence isn’t neutrality—it’s complicity. [47:14]

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

Day 5: From Jerusalem to Your Jericho Road

Your “Jerusalem” might be a cubicle, a gym, or a family group chat. Global missions expands the circle but never excuses local obedience. The Spirit empowers ordinary people to give extraordinary testimony wherever they walk. [46:35]

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Sermon Summary

Missions begins with worship because God is ultimate. Psalm 96 calls God’s people to “declare his glory among the nations,” and Isaiah 12 calls them to make his deeds known among the peoples. Romans 15 shows that Jesus came on his mission so that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. Worship is not just something Christians do before missions happens. Worship is the goal, and worship is the fuel.

Missions exist because worship does not. The beauty of the glorious grace of Jesus must go to the ends of the earth so people who do not know him can see that grace, turn to the Lord, and give him the praise he is due. Psalm 22 holds out that day when all the ends of the earth remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations worship before him. The song “Outsing the Angels” fits that call because God’s people ought to try with all they have to declare his glory.

God also works far ahead of time in the lives of ordinary people. God’s work in John and Stephanie’s family, and through their children, shows that his plans keep moving his message outward. Different kinds of missions may look different, but the same gospel is going out.

The eternal stakes cannot be softened: every person who does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior remains separated from him in hell. God’s people therefore need to ask for God’s heart for the nations.
