It is easy to walk into a space of worship with a mind full of schedules, worries, and the noise of daily life. You are invited to push past the music, the people around you, and even your own internal dialogue to remember why you are truly here. Often, we are guilty of being so busy that we lose the simple focus of sitting in the presence of God. This is an opportunity to turn off the phone, set aside the cares of the world, and practice being still. By intentionally redirecting your heart, you allow the Lord to become the main thing once again. [22:54]
Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. (Daniel 9:3 ESV)
Reflection: When you consider the pace and pressure of your daily life, what spiritual practice could you adopt to create more space to recognize God's presence?
Sin acts as a separator that can make you feel distant from God, even though He has not moved. While the blood of Jesus cleanses those who believe, it is common to pick back up old habits or justifications that begin to stick to your life over time. You can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where you have become too comfortable with things that hinder your relationship with Him. Confession is not about shame, but about the beautiful exchange of your worries and failures for His grace. When words fall short, simply speaking the name of Jesus carries the power to transform and save. [33:35]
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 ESV)
Reflection: Is there a habit or a "small" sin you have started to justify lately? How might bringing this honestly to God today change your sense of closeness to Him?
Like Daniel, you have the opportunity to set your face toward the Lord and position yourself to hear from Him. This positioning involves turning away from distractions—whether food, social media, or other comforts—to seek divine wisdom. God is a rewarder of those who are obedient and make time to seek His heart. Even when you feel the urge to stay comfortable or disengage, choosing to show up creates space for a supernatural encounter. Your commitment to seek Him is never wasted, as He honors the heart that is set on understanding. [30:22]
Then I set my face to the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. (Daniel 9:3 ESV)
Reflection: Where have you recently sensed God inviting you to trust Him more deeply, and what practical step of faith could you take this week in response?
Your words matter deeply to God, and He listens to the specific requests you bring before Him. In the unseen realm, there is often a spiritual battle occurring that you cannot see with physical eyes. Even when it seems like nothing is happening in the natural, your prayers are moving things in the supernatural. Being direct and specific in your communication with the Father allows you to partner with His work on earth. Trust that from the very first day you set your heart to understand, your voice was heard in heaven. [36:19]
Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words." (Daniel 10:12 ESV)
Reflection: If you were to be completely specific with God today, what is the one "impossible" situation you would ask Him to provide wisdom or a breakthrough for?
When believers gather in one accord and unify their hearts, the Holy Spirit provides the power needed for ministry. This unity is not just about being in the same room, but about sharing a common vision to see God move in your community. You are called to be the salt and light, partnering with others to advance the kingdom of God forcefully. As you listen for His voice, the challenge is to say "yes" to whatever next step He is calling you to take. Whether it is serving, forgiving, or sharing the gospel, your obedience allows God to build something much greater than a physical building. [41:14]
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47 ESV)
Reflection: Is there an area of obedience you’ve been postponing? What is one small, concrete action you can take this week to move toward faithful obedience?
The congregation is urged to push past distractions and re-center on God’s presence, recognizing worship as the primary reason for gathering. Worship is presented not as a set of external behaviors but as a posture of the heart—turning one’s face and attention toward the Lord, even amid busyness and internal noise. Attendees are encouraged to lay down legitimate cares and anxieties at Jesus’ feet, exchanging them for divine peace and clarity, and to practice silence and focused devotion during prayer and fasting.
Fasting is depicted as a spiritual posture that humbles and redirects the heart, creating space for confession, repentance, and renewed sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Biblical grounding from Daniel illustrates how intentional fasting and specific, humble petitions position one to receive revelation and favor; Daniel “set his face” toward God and sought understanding, prompting an angelic response. The talk emphasizes that words in prayer are consequential—precise, earnest speech matters and can catalyze movement in the unseen realm.
The unseen spiritual conflict that accompanies earnest prayer and fasting is acknowledged: angelic battles and resistance in the heavenly places may be real, yet perseverance in prayer matters even when physical evidence seems absent. Often, breakthroughs arrive at the close of seasons of fasting, when persistence and focused request bear fruit. Corporate unity in prayer is likewise stressed, with Acts 2 held up as a model: when believers come together in one accord, the Holy Spirit moves to empower and equip for ministry.
Practical guidance is woven throughout: bring Scripture to communal gatherings, record impressions and prompts during prayer, and be specific in petitions—both for personal needs and for the mission of the church. The assembly is invited to intercede for the distinct needs of each campus—facilities, growth, spiritual fruit—and to pray for leaders with gratitude and protective blessing. The closing charge is love expressed back to God: after seasons of fasting and seeking, the simple act of declaring devotion and affection for God affirms dependence and cultivates lasting spiritual momentum.
``Lord, forgive us sometimes for not having a reverence and an awe of you or or maybe we have expectations when we walk in this place of what it should look like and what it should feel like and through the whole time, we can just lose focus of the main thing. So, lord, I just ask that you would redirect our hearts this evening and that our focus would be you. You you are the main thing, Lord. Your your name simply possesses all the power that we would ever need. And so when we don't know what to say or maybe when our words come up short or they're inadequate, we can simply speak the name of Jesus. And that has the power that has the power to save, and that has the power to transform. And so, Lord, help us this evening. Cast those things off at your feet and just to walk with you, spend some time with you. It's in your name we pray.

But if you're like me and and John tells us this too in first John, there are times and there are moments in my life frequently that I pick back up these things, pick back up these sins, these habits in my life, and we what happens over time is these things just begin to kinda stick to us a little bit, and we begin to be comfortable with them. We begin to justify some of these. And so for me, this is always, and I think Daniel teaches us this too. It's an incredible opportunity for us to ask the Holy Spirit who lives in us to say, Lord, reveal those things to my heart. What are these what are these sins? What are these habits in my life that you need to show me that maybe I've just gotten really used to and comfortable with? Right? Because we know that sin is the separator.

Daniel had set his heart. He had set his face to the Lord. He had set his heart to understand, and the angel says, it's because of your words that I have come. I just wanna remind you. K? And this is all the time, but but I think it's heightened in these moments of fasting. Your words matter to God. K? What what you say, they matter to God. And the angel came because of what? Because of Daniel's words. And so just a reminder, as you're praying, be very specific in what you're saying.

passion to go into all the world and to preach the gospel, to love those people around us, to serve those people around us like crazy, just help us to be the salt and the light of this world. Help us to partner with other churches. Help us to partner with other believers and to advance forcefully the kingdom of god.

I'm not gonna go into this a lot, but I if you read 13, the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty one days. K? This is the angels saying this. And behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, the angel, came to help me for I had been left alone there with the king of Persia. Michael was battling the prince of Persia in the unseen realm. When you fast and pray, there's an there's a battle in the unseen realm. K? So don't be discouraged when you're fasting praying and maybe you don't see anything in the physical, know that there is something happening in the supernatural.

It's kind of a golf clap, but that's okay. I'll take that. I mean, that's that's pretty incredible. I mean, I just I'm just a firm believer that when we when we make time for God, that he just shows up in a big way. And probably every single one of us, including myself, at some point in these three days, you have you have fought the urge to stay home. Am I honest enough to say that? Like, you just yeah. I was like, me? Especially on nights like tonight. And so I I just believe and I know that God is just a rewarder, of our obedience. And so my prayer, my hope for you is that God just just blesses your face off, after this time of fasting.

Evening, I think as we close out this time of prayer and fasting that for us, I wanna challenge us tonight to push past the music, push past the people that are singing, push past push past me, push past yourself, and just remind ourselves really why we're here this evening, right? And that's to worship. That looks different for every single person in this place. I'm not trying to put a stamp on how you worship but I do know who we worship and why we worship. That's that's really why we've come this evening is to gather and to worship him.

Scripture is is very clear of what happens when people come together in one accord. We read in the New Testament in Acts chapter two that when a group of people came together in one accord, in one prayer, in unity, the power of the Holy Spirit came. Right? And it and it filled their hearts and it filled their lives. And one of the incredible things it did is it empowered them for ministry.
