#CalledAndLoved
“Hear your name, not the person next to you, sitting next to you, not someone else, you. And then hear these words, because you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you. Those words became life changing for me not because I felt lovable, I didn't, not because I believed them immediately, I didn't, but because God kept speaking them anyway, again and again and again, until eventually, began to believe them.”

#GraceNotJudgment
“I wanted nothing to do with a God who ignored suffering, nothing to do with a God who allowed people to hurt each other, Nothing to do with a God who seemed absent from the pain of the world. Then on 07/19/1997, something happened. The first thing I heard from God was not a lecture, it was not a threat, it was not judgment, it was not a list of things I needed to change.”

#NoExceptionsLove
“Every person, no exceptions, no asterisks, no footnotes, no conditions, that is where love begins, and that is where justice begins too. Perhaps this is why we begin this series here. Before we talk about loving others, before we talk about being created in God's image, before we talk about disrupting hate, we begin with this. You are loved. You are loved.”

#RememberTheBeloved
“When we forget when we forget that people are beloved, cruelty becomes easier. When we forget that people are beloved, we stop seeing the image of God in one another. Justice begins when remembering who people are. Beloved, created in God's image, of dignity, worthy of compassion, worthy of love. The church's witness is not simply that God loves us. The church's witness is that every person is loved by God.”

#NameInPrayer
“Years later, I encountered a prayer practice based on this very scripture that we shared today. The practice invites you to replace the words Jacob and Israel with your own name, to hear the words as if God was speaking directly to you. So today, I invite you to listen differently. Listen for your own name. You can even whisper it or say it out loud, say it in your head.”

#YouAreEnough
“Friends, I think one of the greatest tragedies in our world is that so many people have forgotten they are beloved. Some have never been told, some have been told the opposite, some have been rejected, some have been bullied, some have been abused, some have been shamed, some have been convinced that they are not enough, not smart enough, not successful enough, not attractive enough, not faithful enough, not worthy enough.”

#LovedAsYouAre
“It changed my life for the first time I encountered a God who loved me before I had done anything to deserve it. A God who loved me while I was still questioning. A God who loved me while I was still grieving. A God who loved me while I was still healing. A God who loved me exactly as I was where I was.”
39s
#ComeAndBeLoved
“The first thing I heard was come. Come. I am real. Jesus is real. mine. And over time, I heard something else. Let me show you how much I love you. That experience changed my life. Not because all my questions disappeared, not because all my wounds healed instantly, not because the world suddenly made sense.”
