God receives thanks first for freedom, sacrifice, and the lives laid down on Memorial Day weekend, but Jesus stands above every other sacrifice because his blood gives any real reason for hope. The battle for the mind then comes back into view, because Satan would love nothing more than to pull a believer away from commitment to Christ. Prayer, Scripture, and obedience stand as the tools for living in the victory Jesus already won, and Scripture takes the center of the room here.

John opens the matter with, “In the beginning was the Word,” and that Word is not just ink on paper. The Word was with God, the Word was God, and the Word is Jesus.
