#UnityOverNoise
“Because the problem in Corinth was not women teaching or speaking. It was everybody talking at once. Everyone's so full, so high on their own experience that nobody was strengthening anybody else. And Paul's answer wasn't some of you be quiet forever. It was all of you build something different together. That's why you're here. That's why I'm here. Not for the intensity of your own experience nor for insisting to be heard, but you're here Jesus. And what Jesus has to say to you and to the people that Jesus died for sitting on either side of you.”

#ContextualDetailsMatter
“This cannot mean on the surface that women cannot speak in the worship gathering, period, because it's happening. So there's something more specific that Paul is dialing in on. And and then he continues. They are not allowed to speak but must be in submission as the law says. Now three words that we're gonna double click on here. Submission or speaking submission and the law.”

#ContextualNotUniversal
“In other words, first Corinthians 14 verses thirty four and thirty five is Paul's contextual prohibition against women speaking disruptively, not a universal dispensation against women speaking generally or instructing specifically.”

#DiscernYourVoice
“I think it means something like this. We need to discern the choice about when to use or not use our voice. We need to discern the choice that we have about when to speak up, when to exercise self restraint for the sake of those who are far from God. That's Paul's heartbeat underneath this passage. It's for the building up of the believing community and for the welcoming in of those who are finding in the in the new family of God.”
