Bible ReadingMatthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
[00:00:08]1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
[00:04:33]Ephesians 6:10-18 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
[00:09:11]Genesis 3:1-7 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God actually say, “You shall not eat of any tree in the garden”?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, “You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.”’ But the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’ So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.”
[00:17:55]Matthew 4:1-11 “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.’ But he answered, ‘It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’ Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “He will command his angels concerning you,” and “On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”’ Jesus said to him, ‘Again it is written, “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.”’ Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, ‘All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.”’ Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.”

- In Genesis 3, what were the serpent’s first words to Eve, and how did those words begin to twist what God had said? [00:18:06]
- In Matthew 4, what repeated phrase did Jesus use when Satan tempted him, and what does that show about how he answered temptation? [00:20:54]
- What three fiery darts were highlighted as Satan’s main attacks, and how were they seen together in the garden? [00:14:15]
Interpretation questions- Paul places spiritual warfare right after instructions about children, parents, and work. What does that suggest about where the battle is usually fought in everyday life? [00:06:25]
- If Satan often attacks with doubt, falsehood, and fear, why do those three work so well together in pulling a person away from obedience? [00:20:08]
- Jesus could have defeated Satan in many ways, yet he answered with Scripture. Why is that pattern important for believers who want to stand firm in temptation? [00:22:09]
- The shield of faith is something to be taken up, not just admired. What does that suggest about the difference between saying a person has faith and actually using faith? [00:25:33]
Application questions- Which fiery dart has been hitting hardest lately—doubt, lies, or fear? What has that looked like in real life this past week? [00:14:15]
- When temptation comes, what truth from God’s word is most needed right now? Is there a verse already known that needs to be brought forward, or is this a season to go searching the Scriptures for it? [00:26:28]
- Faith grows stronger when it is exercised. Where is there a need to stop being passive and take one clear step of obedience this week? [00:28:46]
- The shield works well when believers stand together. Where is there a need for help from brothers or sisters in Christ instead of trying to fight alone? [00:17:16]
- Faith in anything but Jesus will finally let a person down. What other things are most tempting to lean on for security—personality, money, routine, knowledge, or something else? [00:34:10]
- The church is not here only to sit safely behind the armor but to move forward with the gospel. Who is one person that could be prayed for, encouraged, or spoken to about Christ in the coming days? [00:39:17]
- Victory often comes one battle at a time. What is one small battle where obedience would bring peace and joy right now? [00:40:10]
