Day 1: Shielding Against Fiery Darts of Doubt and Lies

The enemy’s oldest tactic begins with subtle whispers: “Did God really say?” Doubt corrodes trust, falsehood distorts truth, and fear paralyzes faith. Like Eve in Eden, believers face these ancient weapons daily. But the shield of faith, welded to Scripture, deflects lies with divine certainty. When Satan questions God’s goodness or twists His promises, faith anchored in Christ’s victory declares, “It is written.” This is not passive defense but active resistance, quenching every lie with the unshakable reality of God’s Word. “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden”?’ The woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.”’ ‘You will not certainly die,’ the serpent said to the woman.”

Eternal life begins not later but now, in the accumulating triumphs of a faith that fights. [40:10]

God reveals even a small piece of his glory to wake up hearts, strengthen spirits, and make his people faithful. The call to win the war begins with the plain fact that spiritual battle is real, and if a battle is worth fighting, then it is worth fighting to win.

Paul sets Ephesians 6 in the middle of everyday obedience. Children obey parents, fathers train children without crushing them, and workers honor employers as unto Christ. The text then moves from home and work into warfare, because the struggle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, powers of darkness, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
