God is sovereign, He knows the beginning and the end, He is Alpha and Omega, yet His sovereignty does not make prayer useless.

The tension sits right there in Scripture. God declares the end from the beginning, and still James says, “You do not have because you do not ask.” God is in full control, and prayers still matter to Him. Prayer is alive, even when it has been prayed by grandparents and only answered in another generation. That is the mystery of partnership.
