#JesusOpinionPoll
“Almost no one gives the same answer. Jesus essentially conducted the first opinion poll. When he asked asked these questions we're looking at today, he basically had the first opinion poll ever put out. Who do people say the son of man is? And he changed then he changed the question. Not who does your family say, not who does your church say, but who do you say that I am? And this is what I really wanna drill into today and really dig deep in on this this idea of who do you say Jesus is. Because I could go to every person in this room one by one and ask you, who is Jesus? Who do you say that Jesus is? And I would probably get varying responses depending on who I asked. It is a question worth answering because your answer determines your eternity.”

#ConfessionInDarkness
“Imagine Jesus standing there with his disciples in front of temples dedicated to false gods while asking who do people say that I am. Did Jesus not know who they thought he was? Jesus knew exactly what they thought of him, but he was trying to bring something out of his disciples to get them to realize what was going on. And here's the thing that really hit home with me when I was studying this. The greatest confession in history by Peter was spoken in the middle of the greatest spiritual darkness. He was standing in a sin city, and he spoke the greatest confession that history's ever been spoken. It says this was a dramatic confrontation between the kingdoms of this world and the kingdom of God. So let's look at it.”

#WhoDoYouSayJesusIs
“``Everyone has an opinion. Society has an opinion. Social media has an opinion. Universities have an opinion. Religions other religions have an opinion. Even demons know who Jesus is, but none of those opinions determine your eternity. So there's two questions that I that I really want you to understand and and think about as we close. Who do you say that Jesus is? This question can't be delegated. I told you earlier. It can't be delegated. No one can answer it for you.”

#MakeItPersonalFaith
“Your opinion of Jesus won't save you. That's that's the truth if you think about it. It doesn't really matter what you think of Jesus Christ. He is who he says he is. He is who his word says he is, and he has accomplished what he had what he said he would accomplish, and he will accomplish what he says he will accomplish in the future. But it comes to this question in verse 16 verse 15. Jesus flips it from being a an opinion to see what the opinion of the people in the in the area is to now he makes it personal. And if you'll take the time right now to make this question personal in your own life, you'll come face to face with your Lord and savior.”

#ChristIsTheRock
“Peter's confession becomes the foundation of the church's message. Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God. The church stands or falls on who Jesus is. If Jesus is merely a teacher, Christianity collapses. And just like Paul spoke about, we're above all people to be pitied because if it's not if if he's not who he says he is, then what we're doing here is just a waste of time. But because he is who he says he is, and he's done what he said he's done, and he's gonna do what he says he's said he's gonna do, we have a hope outside of this world.”

#AllInForChrist
“And for the believers sitting here, I've said this many, many times, but being a Christian is a terrible hobby. There's so many other things out there that you could do with your time. So it's either go all in for Christ or find a different hobby to spend your time doing. If Jesus is truly the son of God, he deserves our worship. He deserves our obedience. And understand he alone can save. You can't save yourself. Nobody can save you.”

#ChurchBuiltOnChrist
“Jesus finishes verse 18 by acknowledging that the church will be built on this revelation. The church will be built on the rock that is Jesus Christ, the son of the living God. The church won't be built on Peter the rock. It was never about Peter. It was just about Peter's exclamation of who Jesus truly was. The church was built on Jesus Christ, Messiah, the son of living God.”

#OneTrueGod
“The son of the living God, this statement goes beyond calling Jesus the Messiah. It it goes beyond that. The phrase living God distinguished Israel's God from lifeless idols. And remember, he's standing there around lifeless idols in temples dedicated to these lifeless idols, these little g gods. I said that in front of Rowan the other day and she looked at me and said, what are you talking about? Little g gods. So I had to explain to her, lowercase g for little gods. Our God, Jesus is the big g God, the one and only.”
