“You deny your attitude. You deny your rebellion. You deny your bitterness. You deny your your self want and desire. You deny your rights to have your way. If I am God, let him deny himself. But look at the second lesson from the q and a. Take off his cross. Take up his cross daily. Luke says tape up up his cross. The the other gospels say daily. Whatever obedience cost me, it is worth it. Whatever obedience cost me, it is worth it. This is when I get to the place where I'm I'm willing to yield myself. Ready? Here's the phrase, no matter the cost.”

“Because in order to hear what Simon says, you're gonna have to get over yourself and the awkwardness of this moment, and get up and follow me in order to hear the commands. Does that make the lot did that does that make sense? Obviously, we're not doing that today. But I get I begin to think how many of us would just sit here and go, that's kinda weird. That strange pastor's at it again. I'm not getting up and following him out the door. I'm not playing this game. And I understand the logic of that because it's just a game. But if we can make that mental connection, he is God and that's not a game. And he is the son of the living God and he sits upon a throne and because he's God, we have to deny ourself, take up our cross, and follow him. Why? Not because Simon says. Not because God says, but because of who he is. Does that make sense?”

“Now, let me tell you what taking up your cross is not because here's where I hear it. I don't know about when you hear that, but here's what I hear. Hey, man. How are you doing? Well, I'm bearing my cross. What do you mean you're bearing your cross? Oh, I've had this bad back, and this is the cross that God's given me to bear. Right? Have you been there? Have you heard stuff like that? Hey, brother. How are doing? How's the finance? Well, finance is not good, but god knows what I need, and this is the cross that he's called me to bear. That is not what the Bible's talking about. When Jesus looked at these 12 disciples and he says, take up your cross daily. They were not talking about burdens and trials. That did not come to their mind.”

“We're gonna put it to death. There's some of us in this room that won't follow Christ right now because of past hurt. Here's what Jesus says, put it to death. There's some of us that won't serve Jesus right now because we don't think there's a lot of financial gain in it. Here's what Jesus says, put it to death. We won't serve Jesus right now because because we're scared of the testimony that we're gonna get if we choose to do that. And what Jesus is saying is anything that keeps you from following me, put it to death. Die to it. But I won't get this or that, put it to death. Die to it. Do you understand the logic of that? That's what the disciples were thinking.”
