#GodIsWithYou
“You're not abandoned. If you don't have those firework moments, if you don't have Jesus appearing to you and being like, you need to go and do such and such, God isn't not paying attention to you. When the relationship's falling apart, when home feels broken, when you're just trying to survive the week, you look for the earth quake, you look for the fire, and when they don't happen, you think that God has left you. We miss Jesus not because he isn't there, but because he often shows up as an understated companion on an ordinary dirt road rather than as a spectacle.”

#GodInTheOrdinary
“God didn't leave us. He didn't abandon us. He gave it all for us. He gave it all for you. See, the gospel reveals a truth that is brought forward from Genesis through Revelation. It's this, Jesus isn't absent in the quiet. He's quietly weaving a thread in those little moments, in those quiet moments. See, the reality is is that the Bible repeatedly teaches that God's activity is often hidden in the ordinary. Elijah found God in a whisper. These disciples walked with Jesus, they thought that he was just another traveler. The book of Hebrews tells us that some have even shown hospitality to angels without realizing it. God's work is often recognized best in hindsight.”

“And here's what I want you to do over the course of this week. You're gonna write down three or four of the hardest times that you've lived through, and then I want you to identify the popcorn threads or the popcorn strings for each one. Who showed up to support me? What unexplainable peace or strength kept me standing? What unseen protection stopped things from becoming worse? And then pray the simple prayer, Jesus, thank you for being there the whole time, even when I didn't recognize you.”
