#ChosenAndCalled
“``So, when you think about the calling that God has asked you to do, the fact that he chose you is a privilege. Of all the people he could've asked, the billions of people on the world, He asked you to be his chosen instrument to execute this thing that he's asked you to do. So, we've got to realize this is a special thing to be called. It's not, oh, I'll do it tomorrow. No. God has asked you to do this. We should operate in urgency because this is special.”

#ChosenDespitePast
“And this is even bigger when we think about who we are as fallen people. of us, we don't think that we deserve the call because of what we've done in our past. when you think about Paul literally was killing Christians, he was destroying the church, but God was still pleased to reveal his son to him. So, it's not about what you've done in the past, it's not about you feeling worthy yourself, it isn't about you at all. God has uniquely crafted you, set you apart. He's uniquely chosen you as his instrument and now he is pleased to reveal himself in you.”

#CalledToPurpose
“Here's what we here's what we look at what it means to be called. Verse 15, but the Lord said to him, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. So if you're wondering what it means to be called, it means that you are a chosen instrument to carry out a purpose for God. So, we talk about being set apart. Being set apart means that God strategically crafted you to do the thing he's gonna ask you to do. And then being called means, and he chose you as his chosen instrument to do this thing. Right.”

#GodInterruptsPlans
“And I think that's why God has us in Galatians today. We need to talk about what happens when God interrupts your plans. And in this scripture, we see that Paul has a whole different plan. Paul tells us he was climbing up in the ranks at work in Judaism. All the other people were were looking up to him. He was he was zealous. He tells us with adjectives, I was zealous after my traditions. So, at work you're the number one employee, you're climbing the ladder, you're VIP, you're trying to be CEO, you're doing all the things and then all of a sudden God interrupts your plans. There's a but let's look at what happens. I think the the biggest things that the word is telling us today is when God calls you, there doesn't need to be a delay. should operate with immediacy. There should be urgency when God calls us.”

#PurposeNotProfit
“But again, he just says in here, I am called to preach to the Gentiles. That is my whole purpose. That is why God did all this. That's why he interrupted my plans because he wanted to make sure that his word gives to the Gentiles. The reason why many of us are not doing what God called us to do is because we don't understand the purpose, the so that in our life. God has told you that he wants to go and have you start a business. It's not so that you can make more money. It's not so that I can help my family. It's not so that it's so that God will get the glory. Period.”

#AlignedForPurpose
“Some of you guys are worried right now about, I don't understand why if I do this calling, I'm not quite sure if I do what God's asked me to do, I might not I might not get around. But when you're aligned with what God has called you to do, you're stronger. gotta understand you're so that. that I might preach to the Gentiles, so that God might get glory, so that some some people in Dallas might be freed, so that I might help the ministry get housing, so that there is some things that God is doing in this city, in this world, and he needs you to answer the call so that he can execute the so that.”

#DesignedByGod
“So, means to set apart means you have been commissioned. But let's think about this. He says, I was set apart even before my mother's womb. So, means in heaven, God was preparing him and putting the DNA together so that he would be able to do what what God called him to do in the future. So, when you're thinking about how special this is, God has literally because he's a scientist. Right? He has literally taken molecules off of the atomic chart, put them into your DNA just so that you would be prepared to have the skill set to do what he was gonna call you to do thirty years after you come out of your mom's womb, twenty years after. He was specific.”

#NoCosignNeeded
“Y'all, how many of us immediately when we get a call from God and and this call just means you're chosen to do something. So, it doesn't even have to be that you heard a voice, it's just, I feel like I'm supposed to do this. Immediately, you go talk to somebody. Who who is your person? Is it your mom? It used to be if it's my mom for me, it used to be my grandmother. Immediately, I pick up the phone. But Paul says, but when I got this call, I didn't talk to any flesh and blood. God guys, you don't need a cosign on your calling. When God tells you to do something, you do it immediately. obey. The bible says to love God is to obey God's commands. So if you truly love God, you obey what he's telling you to do without having to ask flesh and blood. And”

#StopSeekingApproval
“And many of us are looking for somebody looking for somebody else that's higher than us, looking for some some other person who's an expert or a guru to tell us what to do when God is like, I am the guru. So, that's what Paul says he did not do. And I want you to take a second to just think through your own life. If there's something that that God has been putting on your heart, an assignment that only you uniquely can feel, I want you to just make a note to yourself, I'm gonna stop asking everybody else for their approval. I'm gonna stop seeking out the next podcast or seeking to try to find somebody else who knows how to do it, and I'm just gonna trust God and lean not on my own understanding. Right? Because in all his ways, he'll make our path straight. We gotta trust God.”

#GodGivesThePower
“He is pleased to give you the power to execute the thing he's called you to do. Some of us, and I actually have to again talk about myself a little bit, I was nervous to come and preach. I was nervous. Has anybody else you got asked to do something but you were nervous about it? Yeah. I see some hands. of my best friends, Tiffany, I know that she should be she should be like the best principal in the world. And I know there was one time she's like, they asked me to be a principal, but I don't know. Right? Sometimes we get asked to do something but we don't think we're worthy. And in this one, I had to remember, I had to preach this back to myself. And I had to tell myself, Terry, you're not going up there in your own might. God is gonna reveal himself in you. Right? And that's the same for you all. If you're being called to do something, it actually isn't about you at all. Only thing you have to do is obey. That's right. That's literally all God's asking you to do. He's already prepared you. He uniquely chose you to do this, and now he's given you the power to do it.”

#CalledToPreach
“God did all of this so that. y'all repeat that after me. So that. So that. For Paul y'all sounded so good, by the way. That was beautiful. Y'all should be a choir. For Paul, he says, God did all of this that I might preach him among the Gentiles. And the cool thing is, Paul gets it. This was the whole point. The purpose of God knocking me out in Damascus, the purpose of God revealing his son to me, the purpose of God doing all this is so that I could go and preach to the Gentiles. That is what he has called me to do. That is the purpose.”

#YourCallMatters
“Your calling also impacts other people. Paul, he goes blind and then Jesus talks to Ananias and says, Ananias, I need you to go talk to this guy named Paul or Saul and give him his sight back. Now, let's take a minute right here. This man has been killing all your friends, all your family. He just came to kill you too. And now Jesus is telling you to go and give him his sight back. And you gotta obey that.”
33s
#NotAboutFollowers
“And I feel like for some of us, I want you to also remember that God's calling is not predicated on your follower count. When he said that he went away, nobody knew him. And this was a huge pivot because before this, remember he was climbing up in the ranks. Everybody loved him, he was getting credit and approval, and now God's called him and he's had to go away.”
54s
#AlignedAndStronger
“I don't know if I would have came back, but but she was like or he told her, come back, sit back down on the chair. So, she comes, she sits back down, and this time he tells her, okay, now I want you to push your pelvis back, then I want you to straighten your posture and move your shoulders back, and then I want you to lean back on the chair. So now she's sitting and she's she's more straight up. And then he pushes her again. But y'all, this time she doesn't move. This time she doesn't fall off the chair. And he says, see, when you're aligned, you're stronger. When you're aligned, you're stronger.”

#PrivilegeToServe
“Earlier this week, pastor Carter told you guys I've been on tour. I have a new book, The Risks Worth Taking coming out. And we've been in all these cities, and we've been moving, and we've been going, and we've been doing all the things. And I caught myself saying, I have to preach on Sunday. caught myself saying, man, I gotta get this message together, and and just feeling the weight of it all. Oh, man, we gotta go do this. We gotta go do this. I have to. And then I thought about it. Of all the people that pastor Carter could have asked to come and preach, he chose me. is a privilege to be on this stage. It's not a I have to, it's a privilege.”

#DidNotSeekApproval
“When you're aligned, you're stronger. So now this is what Paul so Paul tells us all about what God did and he tells us the reason that God did it, the so that so that I might preach among the Gentiles. Now, here's where we get into what you should do This is what Paul shows us he did. So, first thing he says is, I did not. Now, how often do we see a I did not? Like, we see a lot of immediately, I did this and immediately, I did that. But this one, he was like, I did not consult with anyone.”
49s
#ObedienceBringsSight
“After the Damascus experience, the bible says that he got his sight back. Praise God for the obedience of Ananias. Right? If Ananias hadn't obeyed his call, we wouldn't have many books of the bible. Paul would still be blind. He can't write and be blind. saying. I mean, God has other ways, but Right. Oops. We are all of us play a huge part. here, in the final parts of this, the bible says that Paul went away to Arabia and then he returned to Damascus. In acts, it says, immediately after he got his sight, he started preaching to the people in Damascus.”

#SaulThePersecutor
“Do you guys understand like the gravity of the switch here? I've I lately have been going to the World Cup. I I got a chance to go to several of the World Cup games and I saw how people cheered for their team. And I saw how, you know, they'd have their drinks and they'd clank and they'd oh, yeah. Like, they're just having such a great time. Paul, when Jesus was getting crucified, would have been clanking mugs. I mean, didn't drink because he's a Jew, but I'm just saying visually, he'd be celebrating that Jesus is on the cross. When they put the nails on his head, when they put the nails on Jesus' head, he would have been cheering for them to push harder. When they when they pierced him through his side, he would have been like, do it on the other side too. That's Saul.”

#CallingSpreads
“then, these people are starting to have something called the way. They're starting to gather together and and tell more people about this guy Jesus Christ and how can how can they be doing that? So, Saul then goes on Damascus to go kill Christians. So then in acts in acts nine, he has an encounter with Jesus Christ. And he falls off his horse, he goes blind and then Ananias, someone else has to go and give him his sight back. And Ananias also think about this, when you're getting called someone else is gonna get called too.”
83s
#UnderestimateTheCall
“So the first reason let's talk about why we wait and then I'll talk about what we do so that we don't wait the opposite. The first reason I think we wait is because we don't understand how special the call is. You feel like something's on your heart, you feel like something's stirring in your your bones, but at the same time, you're feeling like, it's not that crucial that I do it now. I feel like God is telling me to go mend my relationship with so and so, but I I don't have to call right now. I can wait. Right? You feel like you feel like maybe God is asking you to serve in the church, but I don't have to do it right now, I can wait. Let me tell you from Paul's words what it means for God to actually call you. So first, in chapter fifth 50 or verse 15, he starts with, but when God and then depending on your version it might say, but when he, but I would say put in God so that you can have an emphasis. Right? But when he who had set me apart before I was born.”
