#TrustGodThroughQuestions
“You can say, Lord, I don't understand why you've allowed this. That's okay. You can say, hey. This teaching is difficult for me. And ask him to help you receive it. You can bring him your questions while continuing to obey what you don't understand or obey what you do understand even though there's things you don't understand.”

#NewLifeInChrist
“I'm talking about a renewal of the spirit. I'm not talking about fleshy things. We can educate ourselves. We can change habits. We can come... Become more disciplined. And those things, like I say, have value because they leave to spiritual things. Right? But, ultimately, they do not manufacture new life, eternal life. That only comes from God through Christ as a gift by faith.”

#DelayedObedience
“Is there something Jesus has said that keeps you... That you keep trying to explain away? Is there a step of obedience you have delayed because you cannot see how it will work out? You can't see the ends. You're like, I'm not gonna go down that road. Is there an assumption you have held so tightly that you've stopped allowing scripture to challenge that assumption or stop listening to people that challenge that assumption based on scripture.”

#ScriptureOverOpinions
“We need to distinguish Jesus' teaching from our own interpretation and preferences because human beings do this. Right? And and I will always... That's why I give you the verses, and I say study it for your... I do not want you to take it just because I said it. I'm trying to make it, ex... Explain it well, but you need to go to the scriptures and say, yeah. You know what? He's right. That is what it says. None of us gets to claim God's authority for every opinion we hold. However, when his word does make it clear, we must decide for ourselves whether or not we're going to follow.”

#FaithfulServanthood
“We cannot access our relationship with Christ simply by pointing to the group, the church that we belong to, or the work that we're doing. And no one needs this reminder more than me, your pastor. Teaching the words of Jesus of the Bible does not excuse me from responding to them. Serving a ministry does not remove my need to trust him, to repent when I haven't, and to obey him even when I don't understand and when it's tough.”

#TrustingGodsPlan
“It doesn't mean that every prayer, if you have a a person of faith receives the answer that we expected or that every season of obedience feels very clear and ends in a happily ever after. Peter shows us that we can say, hey, Lord, I still have questions, but I've come to know who you are. Where else am I gonna go? Is there any possible way for me to get any better answer? I mean, it might be better than that I like it, but it won't be better for me.”

#FollowJesus
“So he returns to to the thing that they just... They kinda wanna put to the side because this question confronts them with the size of his claim, of who he is. Because if he's really that person, if he really is god in flesh, then it doesn't really matter whether you understand what he's saying. Does it really matter that he's gonna give you what you want? No. Because no one's smarter. No one's greater. No one knows better. He's the one you should follow.”

#FaithInTheUnknown
“We shouldn't confuse faith with pretending that we that we understand, Which is why when I come to a passage and I don't understand it, I just stand up before you and tell you I don't understand it. I don't get it. Because I don't want you to think. Right? If you go to enough seminary and study enough bible, I have all the answers and you can too. I believe there... That... I mean, I... If you'll read this, Jesus purposely leaves things in the gray so we can practice faith. And I think we do him a disservice when we try to put everything in black and white. Now I do believe there's things in black and white. Don't get me wrong. We just gotta be careful about doing that with everything.”
