#WeAreTheBody
“All of us random people, not only in this room but everywhere, who follow Jesus are his body. We are your body, your hands, your fingers, your mouth, your ears, your heart, your legs, your feet, your knees. What you want to do in this world, you will do through us. When there is darkness, we're the light. Not the only light, but we are the light of the world. Where there is need, we are the supplier. We together, we have each other's back. We walk alongside. We're on the journey, on that twisted pathway, and you will equip us for every good work.”

#ScriptureEquips
“The scripture is provided for you to be equipped, not to be beaten up, not to be hit in the head, not to be accused. It's not for finger pointing, it's for strengthening, for discipline, for building your character, your quality, who you are. And what's really interesting is it's not in the singular. It's in the plural. So I have this map up there.”

#KingdomAmongUs
“When Jesus is talking to Nicodemus, he says you have to be born again to see the kingdom of God, and you have to be born again to enter the kingdom of God. And in the last couple of hundred years, that concept of the kingdom of God, the green arrow, has been changed from doing the work of Jesus to getting to heaven. So it may very well been that when you became a Christian, the prize at the end was, get into heaven, you have no sin, you're all clear, and that's the whole point. That's not the whole point. That's not what Jesus meant when he said, you'll see the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is among you. The kingdom of God is what happens between here and heaven. And Paul says, God has given you scripture to equip you for that work. So what does it mean then to do that? So let's look at three places.”

#UnitedInChrist
“In us, it is the transformation of the spirit. So we are the light of the world. We together, if we become divided one from the other, I don't care what your politics are, I don't care what your economics are, I don't care what your education is, I don't care what your color is, I don't care what your lifestyle is. We are the body of Christ. We are transformed by his spirit into his likeness.”

#EquippedByScripture
“What's interesting is when Paul writes, when Jesus speaks, when John writes, it is always about the in between time from now and before we leave this earth to go to heaven. And when Paul writes this, it is not just to beat you up and make sure that you're like the absolutely flawless person according to somebody else's opinion. It is given to you so that you're going to be thoroughly equipped for your work. When we're in heaven, there's no more work to be done. We're there to worship. We're there to glorify God. The work is done. So when Paul says the scripture was given, it was given to you to equip you. It's your equipment. It's your backpack. It's your footwear. It's your clothing. It's your hat. It's all the things that you need to be effective in your work in this world. So the question then is, so what's the point?”

#LivingBodyOfChrist
“you are the living body of Christ. When he was here on earth, what did he do? He fed people miraculously. He healed them. He taught them. He actually spent time with them, he had dinner in their homes, he cared for their children, sometimes he healed a child, sometimes he just let a kid sit on his lap. He challenged authority that was twisted and destructive, and he helped people from every walk of life step a little higher, come a little closer to God. But he did that all the time.”

#BePresentNotPerfect
“We don't have to be perfect at it, we don't have to be good at it. One of the things that they had on the announcements is, on Wednesday night, we got a bunch of kids. We have kids that come in, they have that's their connection to our church. And we have people who are church kids that are growing up, going to programs. Don't have to be perfect. You don't have to have the answers. All you want have to do is just be present and let Jesus work in you and through you. Not even necessarily every single week. It's all of us together accomplishing the purposes of God. Let's go on. Otherwise, I'll get stuck.”

#ReflectTheLight
“You see the pattern? Jesus says, you're not perfect, I get that. I'm the real light of the world, you are reflecting me. You have a light that is inside of you, all of you together, And you are the light of the world, so let that light shine. And what's the result? Other people who don't know who I am will see your life and glorify God. The word for glorify means, the means to understand the real nature of something.”
