35s
“``Jesus said, they will know you are my disciples not because you have a fancy degree from a seminary or you can know the bible chapter and verse or you go to church faithfully every single Sunday and you put your money in the plate that you serve in this capacity or that. No. He said, they will know you are my disciples if you have love for one another. Love, period, exclamation point, full stop. That's how Christ is known. That's how Christ is made alive.”
48s
“There's nothing ordinary about ordinary time. It is a wonderful moment of vibrancy in life. That's why green is a sign of growth and vibrancy in life. This is why we need to start thinking and acting and using the words I am the church. We are the church because it reminds us in the world that Christ's body is not something of the past, something far off in the distant. But know Christ's body is alive and well and at work. Bodies move. Bodies heal. Bodies reconcile. Bodies liberate. Bodies show up. Bodies embrace. Bodies incarnate that love. And that's what this world needs so desperately.”
40s
“With the most powerful force in all the world, which you've heard me say before, the power of love. Greater than any bomb or bullet. We possess it. We have the promise that Jesus is with us. And so please, let us always remember that we are the church. It's not someplace you go. It's not about the building. It's not about the maintenance. It's about the mission. The mission of God's love and what it can do to transform lives one day, one moment, one person at a time.”
39s
“Every little moment is a holy moment because that's how the kingdom of God works. It is in the small things and I think there's a reason for that because I don't think we can handle the the big things and we don't have to. So I told Aisa, I said, when I graduated from seminary and was ordained, I thought this thing was a cape and I was supposed to save the world. And it didn't take me long when I was undergoing stress and anxiety to realize, guess what? You are called to do the small things. Stay in your lane. Jesus did the saving.”
