#RevelationHope
“``Sure. There's some weird imagery in Revelation. Right? But overwhelmingly, this book acknowledges the terrible realities of sin and evil in the world. And if you need proof, just open your newspaper later today. Right? But John gives us a vision of the lamb who was slain who also conquers in the resurrection. This book is about hope written for a people who are experiencing the tragedy of life. And John's exhorting them saying this time of challenge is gonna come to a conclusion. And this good God who loves you and the entire world, this good God is going to conquer. This is a message about hope.”

#CompassionOverTheology
“I remember when my wife was ill about three years ago. There were some specialists analyzing her body, and I didn't like them because they didn't have very good bedside manners. They weren't very helpful or hopeful, but I do remember nurse Rachel. She tended to my dear wife at the University of Utah Hospital, And dear Rachel was with us on an hourly basis, tending and caring. So there were some decisions that the Starcher family had to make, and we didn't know what to do. And do you think that we called any of those specialists who seemingly didn't care? We called nurse Rachel, the lower person on the totem pole. Why? Because she was invested in healing. Friends, we can have the best theology in the world. But if we don't have hearts of compassion that are invested in others, that theology isn't worth anything.”

#LordReturnsDaily
“Has the Lord returned in the last 1,900 since this was written? We're tempted to say no, but I'm tempted to say yes. You see, for the vision of the Lord's return is not just some future event, but it happens daily in a moment by moment basis. When the doctor gives us a diagnosis that is either good or bad, when you forget to put the toilet seat down and you wonder how your spouse is going to react. It could go good. It could go terrible. But in these moments, Jesus shows Jesus shows up when we respond to faith leaders, whether they do or don't, encourage you how to vote. Jesus shows up there. Jesus shows up in your home this afternoon when you're asking about what we're gonna do for lunch. How are you gonna treat your spouse or your friend? You see, the Lord is coming soon.”

#WorshipOnlyGod
“The next thing that I wanna point out is in the two verses we didn't read. We didn't read it for time's sake today, but perhaps we should have included it because I lift it up to you what's happening in verses eight and nine. John sees this beautiful image of the kingdom of God, and then he bows down at the feet of the angel like this is holy. And then the angel slaps him across the face and says, John, stand up. The only person you're supposed to worship is the Lord. I'm just your fellow servant.”
