#DesireIsNotSin
“Wanting what you want is not a sin. Desiring what you want is not a sin. It's when you come face to face with the possibility of scarcity that at this moment there's nothing you can do. What are you going to do? What is what are you going to do? Wanting what you want is not a sin. It's what you do when you come face to face with the reality. There's nothing you can do to produce it. What are you gonna do?”

#SeekFirstTheKingdom
“When a want becomes first, where it belongs second, we're we're out of order at that point. And I love that Jesus didn't give us a seek second, third, fourth, fifth. He just seek first. Because when you seek first, second will be fine. Because if you seek first the kingdom of God and its right its right way of doing things, then all these things Jesus said right before it, all these things that people are chasing after, they'll be given to you. They'll be given to you. So are you seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness? And for you and you and you and you you second may is gonna be different. It depends on where you're at in life. But you can control first. That's the one thing we should all have in common. What are you seeking first? What are you seeking first? What are you seeking first? What are you seeking first? The answer should be the same. The kingdom of God and his righteousness.”

#ScarcityAndTemptation
“It's always scarcity. Always. From eve there's something I don't have, and I sure do want it. I feel like life isn't complete without it. I'm gonna do whatever I gotta do to get it. I'm gonna take it. And and here's the key. When she looked at it, it was everything God said it was. Pleasing to the eye, good for gaining wisdom. Absolutely, that was not a lie. It just wasn't for her.”

#TrustGodNotComparison
“That God knows what I want and what I need better than I do. That I serve a limitless God, a transcending God who makes something from nothing, can make my marriage what I want it to be. I don't have to look over the fence and wonder why mine's not like that. Part of the reason yours is not like that is because you're looking over the fence. You're looking outside your marriage and comparing what's going on inside your marriage. That's heinous. Why don't you look inside your heart?”

#RejectEnvy
“Envy is the wanting what you want, finding out that there's nothing you can do to get it, and then envy becomes this sick longing to do whatever you gotta do to get it. And even if I gotta deny you what you have, I want what I want, and I'm willing to do whatever I gotta do to get it. And when you see other people with it, this monster begins to grow within us. And when you harbor that, that's not wise. That's not biblical wisdom. That's not biblical information.”

#HeProvidesAllYouNeed
“communion is this beautiful meal that's a constant reminder that we worship a God who's already given us everything we need. Why? Why? Why would we walk away from him? Because there's something we can't have that we want. That if you're in Christ, you have everything you're ever gonna need. And the Bible's very clear and my gosh shall meet all your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus. Bet. I mean, everything you need, he's already provided.”

#HumbleBeforeGod
“And that's all called this, humble yourself. Come beneath God's grace again. Come beneath God's authority. Come beneath God's sovereignty. Stop trying to elevate yourself through selfish ambition. For those the Bible says very clearly out of the mouth of Christ, those who humble themselves, God shall exalt. But those who exalt themselves, he shall humble. So humble yourself before the Lord and he's gonna lift you up. It's it's it's literally, it's gonna be okay. Just make him your greatest longing and desires what James means by that.”

#WorkAndFaith
“You might want blank. Nothing wrong with wanting it. It's what do you do when you come face to face with the reality. There's nothing within you that can enable you to get it. Now if there is something within you, then don't lean into God's sovereignty, lean into your free will. Because God grows beautiful potatoes, but he will not dig them up. So if your lack in your life is because you're not willing to a little perspiration with the inspiration, that's on you. That's not this message. That's a different message. It's when you come face to face. You're like, I want that, but I don't have the money for it. I trust god. If it's supposed to be in my life, he'll give me the provision to get there. Woo.”

#ResistAndReturnToGod
“He hangs around the one thing he's not allowed to have. There was, like, you can eat from any tree, and they're standing right there in front of the one thing they're not allowed to have. you are standing around and focusing on the one thing that you want so bad that you're not allowed to have, relocate. You know what I mean? Don't stay there. Okay? If you resist, he will flee because he's a coward and he's defeated, period. Alright? Then come near to God. He'll come near to you.”

#SurrenderToSovereignty
“Or do you think scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he's caused to dwell in us? This is small s because that's the spirit that's resurrected in you at the moment of your confession of Jesus Christ. That spirit that was dead that comes to life that is now connected with the indwelling spirit of God, God jealously, not like our jealousy. He longs for you. Okay? But he gives us more grace because he's so good. This is why scripture said, god approaches opposes the proud, but he shows favor to the humble. This is the make it or break it moment. When that one is so I mean, it's just you want what you want, and you see no means or way to bring about how to get it. You can either take matters into your own hands and allow bitter envy and rivalry and selfish ambition to harbor in your heart to cause you to make choices you would not normally make, or you can surrender to his sovereignty.”

#DesireNotSinMethodsMatter
“Think about Moses. Moses, what did he want? He wanted peace between the Israelites and the Egyptians. He wanted it so bad that when he went out there and there was a fist fight, he decided to kill the Egyptian because he wanted what he wanted. And he's willing to do whatever he had to do to get it. He couldn't show restraint. What happened to Abraham? Abraham wanted a child, and so did so did his wife Sarah so bad. What did he do? He took matters into his own hands. He wanted what he wanted, so he slept with Hagar. It keeps going down. Like, you look in the Bible, some of the greatest tragedies happen because somebody wanted what they wanted and were willing to do whatever they had to do to get it. But here's the thing, what they wanted wasn't sinful. It's how they went about getting it that became sinful.”

#AskGodInsteadOfGuessing
“And this is a crazy I mean, we we state it a lot. Like, when we tell people pray, you don't have it because you don't ask God. No. That's not the context of this. The context of this is if you want it so bad, why don't you ask God? You know why? Because you pretty much already know his answer. Right. Because you don't wanna hear no. You'd rather act in this ignorance of, well, I I didn't really know what God thought. Yes. You did. That's why you didn't ask him.”

#PurifyYourHeart
“Go wash your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts because you've stained them. You've tainted them. You double minded, grieve, mourn, and wail. And this is a beautiful thing. What did Jesus say? In in many ways, James is reiterating the teachings of the sermon on the mount. Blessed are those who mourn. Blessed are those who mourn. Right? Blessed are those who are poor of spirit. And it isn't mourning over the death of a loved one. It's mourning over the condition of your soul that Jesus is talking about. When you get there, you're like, oh my god. Oh, how did I get here?”
61s
#MournToAwaken
“But his grace is still sufficient. You just went and splurged again because purchasing for you became an anesthesia. Some of you run to food, some of you run to money, some you you run to sex. You run to drugs. You run to doomscrolling. And you think about that moment where you want what you want so bad. You're willing to do whatever you gotta do. I want peace of mind and I doomscroll instead of meditating on the face of Christ. See, here's what God would have you do at that moment. Just just allow the emotion of the the moment not to bury you, but to awaken you. As Jesus said, blessed are those who mourn because they finally have embraced their condition. Okay? So grieve and mourn and wail that you found yourself where you have. Change your laughter to mourning. There's nothing funny about this. That's what James would say.”

#KnowYourMotives
“See, that's the key. You you you know to the core of who you are, why you want what you want. What are your motives? Are they pure? Because if they're pure, then God's gonna put you in a position to make a decision. So God knows that really what you want, you want for yourself. You want it for your own guilty pleasure. There's no real redeeming reality to why you want what you want. So the thing that's going on between us, all this battling back and forth, always starts with something going on within me. Always. If I'm battling you fights and quarrels, tug of rope in relationships, it's always driven by something within Okay? That's where we gotta take personal responsibility.”
