When we become self-centered, self-focused, concerned for ourselves, we take our eyes off of the source of light, and we begin to follow other thoughts, thoughts either our own thoughts, thoughts of the evil one, thoughts of evil spirits, and darkness begins to happen because we're divided in our hearts. [00:17:03]

Paul warned about this darkness and light. If you turn with me to Ephesians chapter four, where Paul makes it clear that the darkness is in the understanding. If he's in chapter four, I think it's starting verse 17. It is verse 17. This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind. [00:17:29]

They have the vanity of their mind, they're darkened in their understanding, and they're alienated from the life of God it says because of the ignorance that is in them, due to the hardening of their hearts. See, they have lost the ability to sense and feel and appreciate this is God's world. [00:20:39]

When you begin to live by what satisfies me or what makes me happy, you just give yourself over to that whatever it is. It may be sports, it may be drugs, it may be sex, it may be whatever satisfies your passion, but what it's doing is it's taking you further and further away from the life of God. [00:21:39]

For you were once darkness, in other words, we at one time live without understanding, didn't we? We really didn't know God, we didn't know what pleased him, we didn't know how to live with him led by his spirit, guided by his word in the fellowship of his saints. We didn't know we were once darkness but he says now you are light in the Lord. [00:25:48]

Walking in the light means you always do what is good. Now, let's put that on a practical level. In every situation you face, how sweet would it be that your response is good? If your husband's having a bad day, your response is good to him if your wife is having a bad day, your response is good. [00:26:18]

Proving by testing what is pleasing to the Lord. If we were slower to speak, the proverb says that the heart of the wise study to answer. That means speaking off the top of our head is probably not very wise. That means speaking the impulse thoughts is not very wise. We should weigh it before we say it. [00:27:58]

When we walk in the light, guess what we become? We become the light of the world. You are the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and what do they do? They glorify your father because they recognize where the goodness comes from. [00:31:27]

To really see ourselves, to really see clearly you have to come to God and look up and just say, reveal to me. Wouldn't that what David search me oh God, search me o God try me and know my thoughts, and see, see Lord if there be any wicked way in me. He's asking for light. [00:36:19]

When we live in that kind of meekness and quietness and purity in the holy spirit, we will win people around us without a word. Our conduct will do it. We'll be able to speak as well but we won't have to speak very much because actions speak louder than words, and they will so see that we're walking in the light. [00:39:11]

We are the body of Christ, and we need to walk in this kind of light, and just encourage one another no not to be discouraged, you know let's hold one another to the standard to walk this way, you know to just to bring honor and glory to our lord Jesus Christ into the word of God by our lives. [00:44:11]

When you walk in the light and manifest the fruit of the spirit, Jesus will be honored in your patience, Jesus will be honored in your kindness, Jesus will be honored in your mercy, Jesus will be honored in your gentleness, Jesus will be honored in your helpfulness and your thoughtfulness. [00:49:33]
