#GratitudeOverGreed
“``You are a dearly loved child of God, but rather giving thanks. Right? And so he's he's talking about these desires that are selfish and what that what that does and and how well well, what he's saying is thanksgiving is the opposite of that. Right? Thanksgiving, if selfishness is recognizing that God has not given me enough and I'm going to grasp for more, Thanksgiving is recognizing that God is good, and the gifts that he has given me are enough. And if he has not given it to me, then I do not need it.”

#ImitateBecauseLoved
“Because God has forgiven you, because God has already loved you and forgiven you. Now now that he's done that, we can live in a way that reflects that. Prior to that, we could not. And Paul emphasizes that over and over and over again in the book of Ephesians. And so he says, be imitators of God. And I I think it's really easy to read that and be like, what are you talking about? How how am I supposed to imitate God? But he tells us he tells us how to look at it. He he says right next to it, he says, as dearly loved children. Right? And so and so this is who we are. Dearly loved children of God. If you are in Christ, you are not trying to earn God's love by imitating him. You imitate God because you are already loved. And so you're not trying to become something that you're not. He he has made you loved. He has loved you. He's given you this identity. You're just living out what you are now in Christ, what he made you.”

#WalkInLove
“And so he says, walk in love. Right? The the direction of your life, the pattern should be one that is marked by love. As Christ also loved us and gave himself for us. Alright? So he he defines what that love is, and I I love that because I'm like, I'm I would much rather just someone tell me exactly what it is. You know? Paul doesn't leave he doesn't leave it up for interpretation, what that love looks like. We don't get to define what that love is. He says, as Christ loved us. And we know how Christ loved us, sacrificially through the cross to his own physical detriment. And so this love is self giving. This love is willing to sacrifice, and it's not concerned with itself. And he says that all of this pleased God. It was it was a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God. It was worshiped to God.”

#BringItToTheLight
“And so light reveals and it exposes. Right? When when the the truth is made known to us, it exposes the things that we've been trying to hide. The the light dispels the darkness. And it shows sin for what it really is and for what it really produces or or doesn't. Right? And that's that's not always comfortable for us. Right? We we usually wanna keep some things hidden, but God brings us into the light so that it can be dealt with. We we talked about this at at Abide. Yeah. When you bring it into the light, God can deal with it. So we can't repent of what we're pretending isn't there.”

#ExposeWithLove
“And I think that we do this by, again, not by humiliating people, but by exposing the lie, exposing that, hey. Like, this is promising you something, but I'm telling you, it's not gonna come through. I love you too much to let you walk down this road because I'm it's not gonna end where you think it's gonna end. Right? Being as we walk in the light, embodying the light, being living proof that there is a better way. And so he's not saying, hey. You you need to hide from the world because they're they're wretched. We'd have to leave. He says, don't participate. Expose it for what it is. It's fruitless. It's unable to to bring a return on what it promises.”

#FruitOfTheLight
“And so light produces fruit of goodness and righteousness and truth. But he says the works of darkness are fruitless. And I think this is really interesting because he he doesn't say, like, this is the fruit of the light, and this is the fruit of the darkness. No. He says the light has fruit, and it's all these good things. The darkness doesn't have fruit. And that's not to say that there aren't bad things that come with darkness, but I I think the point that he's trying to get across is that all of these things promise something, but they don't actually produce what they promise. Right? Sexual sin promises fulfillment. It promises pleasure. Greed promises that eventually you will be satisfied. If I can just have a little bit more, I'll be satisfied. But it's fruitless. It it doesn't live up to what it promises.”

#PoweredByChrist
“You have been made light. Do not be asleep in the darkness. Get up, sleeper. Rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. And so, again, it comes from Jesus. The power to live in this way, the power to walk in the light and to walk worthy is only found in Jesus. It's only found through his sacrifice on the cross, through his blood. He's the only way we can be made alive. He's the only way that after we've been made alive, we can continually be transformed. Right? We don't we don't get salvation, and then, alright. Now it's up to you to be sanctified. It's up to you. No. He's the active agent in sanctification. That's not to say that there's not effort on our part, but he's the one doing the work.”

#LovedFirst
“And so our first point, walk in love because you are dearly loved. Walk in love because you are dearly loved. Right? Love is what has saved us. And so and so love is what we are called to walk in. And when you've experienced that love and when you've recognized the great lengths that God the father went to to be with us, it comes out of you. Right? The the sign outside says, love God and love people and make disciples, but we don't we don't just by default start there. We don't just start by loving God. No. He loved us first, and so now we can love him. God is the initiator.”
