The call to live with holy urgency is central to a life of faith. Scripture reminds us that Christ’s return could come at any moment, and our lives ought to reflect a constant posture of readiness. This means pursuing holiness, stewarding relationships with integrity, and prioritizing eternal values over temporary distractions. Living ready isn’t about fear but joyful anticipation of God’s promises. Let your daily choices align with the reality that eternity is nearer than it seems. [05:53]
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” (Matthew 25:13, NIV)
Reflection: What practical step could you take this week to align one area of your life—such as your time, relationships, or priorities—more closely with the urgency of Christ’s return?
Human life is fragile, a vapor that appears briefly and vanishes. Delaying surrender to Christ risks eternal separation from Him, yet many still cling to the lie that there’s “plenty of time.” Every moment is a gift to turn toward God’s mercy. Let the brevity of life deepen your dependence on Him and soften your heart to those who don’t yet know His grace. [11:07]
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14, NIV)
Reflection: Is there a decision or relationship you’ve been postponing that God is asking you to address with His wisdom and courage this week?
True faith is marked not by outward rituals but by a living relationship with Jesus. Many assume familiarity with God’s works equates to knowing Him, but salvation comes only through surrendered hearts. Examine whether your faith flows from genuine intimacy with Christ or mere routine. Let His Spirit refine your motives and deepen your love for Him. [28:26]
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21, NIV)
Reflection: How does your daily life—your conversations, choices, and quiet moments—reflect a heart that truly knows Jesus, not just knows about Him?
God’s Word urges believers to recognize the “season” of His return. While dates remain unknown, spiritual alertness helps us steward our days wisely. Like the fig tree’s budding leaves signaling summer, global events and moral shifts point to Christ’s nearing reign. Let this awareness fuel prayer, evangelism, and intentional living. [12:52]
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.” (Matthew 24:32, NIV)
Reflection: What distractions might be dulling your spiritual sensitivity, and how could you create space this week to listen for God’s guidance?
Genuine salvation reshapes desires, habits, and priorities. It’s not mere intellectual agreement but a heart transformed by grace. If Christ is your Lord, others should see His love, joy, and peace growing in you. Salvation is both a moment and a journey—a daily choice to turn from sin and walk in His freedom. [42:11]
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)
Reflection: What area of your life most clearly reveals the fruit of God’s Spirit, and where do you sense Him inviting you to grow in surrender?
The text anchors itself in 2 Peter 3 and Matthew 24–25 to press a single urgent call: wake up and live ready. Scripture warns that scoffers will mock the promise of Christ’s return, but God’s delay demonstrates patient mercy meant to draw people to repentance. Judgment will arrive like a thief; the present heavens and earth will be dissolved by fire, and the faithful must live holy, godly lives while looking forward to the new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells. The fig tree and other signs point to a season that appears nearer now than at any previous time, yet the hour remains known only to the Father.
The parable of the ten virgins illustrates the difference between appearance and reality: all ten carry lamps, but only five bring sufficient oil. Oil functions as the sign of the indwelling Holy Spirit given at conversion; it cannot be borrowed or transferred. True readiness depends on a living relationship with Jesus, not on religious performance, outward ritual, or proximity to Christian activity. Mere verbal profession, public works, or miraculous gifts will not substitute for intimacy with Christ; those who say “Lord, Lord” without doing the Father’s will risk being unknown at the final reckoning.
The sermon ties doctrine to practical urgency. Procrastination betrays the lie that there is always more time; life is a vapor, and death or the Lord’s return can interrupt every routine. Assurance of salvation rests not on attendance or service but on repentance, obedience, and visible spiritual fruit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The exclusivity of salvation in Christ receives clear affirmation: Jesus is the only way to the Father, and his blood alone washes sin. The invitation closes with a pressing appeal to receive Jesus now, to be filled with the Spirit, and to begin a life that visibly reflects transformation. Practical next steps include baptism into a living community, following classes for growth, and immediate obedience to the call to holiness as evidence of true conversion.
Here's the thing. You've got to know Jesus, not just know about him. So I've used this example before, but it's a good one because everybody in here knows exactly who I'm talking about. I know Donald Trump from a distance. I see him just about every week on TV. Donald Trump doesn't have a clue who I am. Why? I have no relationship with him. I've never met him in person. I've I've never talked to him, really. I mean, no, I I never have. I've heard him speak, but I there is no relationship between me and Donald Trump. But I know of him. And here's the fallacy that a lot of people fall into is that you know of God, but you don't know God.

But one thing that I can do and that I do hopefully a lot here is introduce you to Jesus because I do know Jesus. And I can't give you my oil, but I can bring you to the one that gives the oil. He gives eternal life. He, Jesus, it's literally Jesus' role to give you life, to give you the Holy Spirit. He will breathe the Holy Spirit inside of you when you yield to him, and you give your life to him, and you will come alive, and you will be born again a child of God. And if he returns well, I should say when, if it's in your lifetime. When he returns or if you give up the ghost and you pass away for some reason, you will be with him forever in eternity. But it is a choice.

Your life, the bible says, is a vapor. And you guys have seen me do that before. You've seen me spray that squirt bottle, and literally before the vapor hits the ground, it's gone. It doesn't even have a chance to hit the ground. It just your life's over. Compared to eternity, your and my life is like a vapor. Now, we don't know when he's going to return. What the bible does say is that we will know the season. We will know the season, and that's why my my ears are perked up, my spirit man is very perked up because I myself sense this has got to be the season.
