#PaidInFullByJesus
“``Imagine looking at a bill that's larger than some people's mortgages and thinking how in the world am I ever gonna pay that? After his story received national attention, the balance was eventually reduced to $782 after he qualified for financial assistance discount, where for a time, Drew and his family lived under the weight of a bill they could never afford. Friends, we all live under the weight of a debt that we cannot pay. Our sin has earned a wage, and the bill says death. Religion can't pay for it. Good works can't pay for it. Morality can't pay for it. Generosity can't pay for it. Trying harder can't pay for it. But here is the gospel. On the cross, Jesus didn't just reduce the bill, he paid it himself in full with his body. Amen. Praise god. The”

“Yes. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Friends, one day your road trip is gonna come to an end, and you're gonna stand before a holy God. And there is only two possibilities. You can either stand with him, still with the debt of your sin on your account, or you can stand before him as his child because your debt has already been paid by his son, Jesus Christ. And here's the beautiful thing. You don't have to earn this gift. You can't. You have to receive it by faith. So remember, Jesus is not a detour around the roadblock of sin. He doesn't show us a clever way around the problem. He is the way around that problem. He takes our sin. He pays our debt. He defeats death, and he brings us home.”

“The free gift of God is eternal life. That's called grace. We deserve one thing, and God offers us another. We deserve death, and God offers us life. We deserve judgment. God offers us mercy. We deserve condemnation, and our God offers forgiveness. And friends, listen to me. This is the greatest news that you will ever hear in your life. When we receive what we do not deserve, we do not have to receive what we do deserve. Eternal life is not a goal that we achieve. It is a gift that we receive.”

#WageVsGift
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. I love that word, but. We were guilty, but God. We were lost, but God. We were dead in our sin, but god. We could not save ourselves, but god. Sin pays wages, but god gives gifts. And there is a humongous difference between a wage and a gift. A wage is something that you earn. It is something that you deserve. A gift is something that you receive freely.”
