God’s deliverance does not end in comfort. God’s deliverance gives freedom for work. The paid off mortgage is not the finish line, it is fuel for the next assignment. The work starts now, but before the work starts, the vision has to be clear.
Vision matters because “resources without direction can still produce a mess.” The picture on the box is not enough when the shelf is leaning, the drawer will not close, and the piece that belonged three steps ago is still sitting on the floor. The same thing happens in life, in church, in money, in relationships, and in spiritual growth. Activity can look busy and still not be progress. Work without vision is just activity.
Habakkuk’s word gives the order: “write the vision, make it plain, that they may run.” The vision comes first, then the running. God does not call people to run and figure out the direction later. Vision connects movement to assignment, and it forces the question, “Where is this going?” Money needs vision or every dollar will find somewhere to go. Time needs vision or everybody will have access to it. A relationship, a job, a ministry, and even church attendance need clarity about what is being built.
Matthew 25 makes the first part plain: serve people. Jesus says hunger, thirst, strangers, nakedness, sickness, and prison matter to him. The church is not just called to be in the community, but for the community. Serving people means seniors matter, young people matter now, different backgrounds matter, and heaven’s multicultural multitude ought to have a preview on earth. Grace makes the church a no judgment zone, because “everybody in this room has a chapter they don’t wanna read out loud.”
Matthew 25 also meets the need, but Matthew 28 develops the person. Relief gives the fish. Development teaches how to fish. Groceries matter, but so do jobs, financial literacy, tutoring, mentoring, exposure, and discipleship.
Matthew 28 also says reach people. Jesus did not say sit there and hope they come. Jesus said go. Attendance asks who came, but discipleship asks who is growing. Evangelism is not just one person’s job. God has placed every believer near somebody who needs to be brought to Jesus.
Nehemiah shows the third part: build for people. The building is not the church, but the building is a tool for ministry. Excellence matters because the work belongs to God. The vision cannot sit on the wall. The harvest is plenteous, the laborers are few, and everybody has to bring what God put in their hands.
