Praising God is not just for the good times; it is a powerful shield against doubt and discouragement, especially when life is hard or confusing. When you choose to praise God even when you don't understand, you are laying down your right to have all the answers and declaring that God is good, no matter what. This act of praise keeps your heart close to Him and tears down any walls the enemy tries to build between you and God. Even when the devil whispers that God has abandoned you or that your situation is unfair, keep praising—because His goodness and mercy never fail. [44:44]
Psalm 150 (ESV)
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Reflection: When was the last time you praised God in the middle of a difficult or confusing situation? What would it look like for you to offer Him a “sacrifice of praise” today, even if you don’t feel like it?
Trusting God means relying on Him completely, not leaning on your own understanding or insight. When you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He promises to direct your path and remove obstacles that block your way. This kind of trust is an act of worship, a declaration that God is worthy of your confidence even when you can't see the whole picture. Let His mercy and truth guide you, and you will find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and people. [32:24]
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are tempted to rely on your own understanding instead of trusting God? How can you surrender that area to Him today?
The enemy often tries to plant thoughts of doubt, discouragement, and isolation in your mind, especially after a setback or disappointment. These thoughts can build a wall between you and God if you let them linger. But when you choose to praise God and fill your mind with His Word, you uproot those lies and replace them with truth. Praise is not just an expression of joy; it is a spiritual weapon that keeps your heart aligned with God and tears down the enemy’s strongholds. [35:25]
Psalm 9:1 (ESV)
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
Reflection: What negative thoughts or lies have been trying to take root in your mind lately? How can you use praise and God’s Word to replace them with truth today?
Being led by the Holy Spirit is a process that involves listening, practicing, and sometimes making mistakes. God desires to guide you, just as He guided Paul and Silas, but learning to follow His leading takes time and humility. Sometimes the Spirit says “no” or redirects your steps, and it’s in those moments that you grow in discernment and dependence on Him. Trust that God is always working for your good, even when the path is not what you expected. [36:39]
Acts 16:6-10 (ESV)
And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
Reflection: Can you recall a time when you sensed God redirecting your plans? How did you respond, and what did you learn about following the Spirit’s leading?
There is something powerful about coming together as a community to praise God and share testimonies of His goodness. When you exalt His name together, your faith is strengthened, and God’s presence is manifested in new ways among you. Sharing scriptures and stories of praise not only encourages others but also reminds you of God’s faithfulness in your own life. Let your praise be contagious, lifting up those around you and filling your home, family, and church with the glory of God. [30:11]
Psalm 34:3 (ESV)
Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!
Reflection: Who can you encourage today by sharing a testimony or scripture of praise? How might your words help lift someone else’s faith?
Tonight, the focus is on cultivating a deep, unwavering passion for the presence of God, especially as it is expressed through praise. Praise is not just a Sunday activity or a response to good circumstances; it is a spiritual discipline that shields the heart from the subtle attacks of the enemy. The Psalms remind us to praise God in every way possible—through song, dance, instruments, and above all, with our whole hearts. This wholehearted praise is vital because the enemy is always seeking to sow seeds of doubt, discouragement, and complaint, especially when life gets hard or confusing.
The story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16 illustrates the power of praise in adversity. Even after being beaten and imprisoned for doing God’s will, they chose to worship instead of wallowing in self-pity or questioning God’s goodness. The enemy often tries to convince us that hardship means we are out of God’s will or that God has abandoned us. These thoughts, if left unchecked, can build invisible walls between us and God, leading to spiritual apathy and distance. But praise—especially when it is a sacrifice—tears down those walls and realigns our hearts with the truth of God’s goodness and enduring mercy.
It is important to recognize that the devil rarely announces himself openly; instead, he plants thoughts that sound like our own voice, leading us to feel isolated, condemned, or abandoned. The antidote is to keep praising God, even when we don’t understand our circumstances. This means laying down our right to have all the answers and choosing to trust in God’s character. When we praise God in the midst of confusion or pain, we are making a powerful declaration of faith that God is good and his mercy endures forever.
If you sense a wall between you and God, or if your passion for Him has grown cold, the invitation is to return to praise. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the thoughts that have crept in and replace them with the truth of God’s Word. As you do, you will find your heart rekindled and the walls coming down, making room for a fresh experience of God’s presence.

Acts 16:22-26 (ESV) — > The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates tore the garments off them and gave orders to beat them with rods. And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
> About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened.
Psalm 9:1 (ESV) — > I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
> I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
And that's why it's so, so important that scripture, when we're talking about, I will praise him with my whole heart, and I will praise him continually. Because if I'll keep on praising him, it'll be a shield against those thoughts. It'll keep me from letting the devil convince me that God's mistreating me, that God's doing something bad to me. But Paul, the Bible says he was grieved because this woman had a demon that was using her to tell fortunes. Now, you would say, well, why would the devil be talking about God? Advertising the people of God? Because he wants you to accept him. He wants you to see him as your ally. The devil is never your ally. The devil is never helping you. The devil is never on your side. He may be announcing you. And you realize that Jesus, when the devil tried to say something around Jesus, Jesus said, shut up. He wouldn't let the devil announce him. He wouldn't let the devil say anything. The devil starts saying, we know who you are. And Jesus said, shut up. He would not let the devil announce him. He would not let the devil pretend to be on his side. He would not let the devil speak. Because Jesus knew that the devil is a liar. And if he says anything to you, he's trying to get a hook in you. If you feel condemned, if you feel inferior, if you feel isolated or abandoned by God, somewhere the devil's talking to you. The devil doesn't walk up to you and say, hi, I'm the devil. Let me give you an announcement. He doesn't talk like that. He says, don't we feel bad? Why am I going through this? He sounds like your voice, but he's talking to you. And you think, those are your thoughts. And five minutes ago, you felt great. You fighting the devil you doing. And then he's talked. You talked to you so much that now you don't even feel like yourself. [00:41:46] (43 seconds) #ThoughtsBuildWalls
That's why it's so, so important that when you get in a tough situation, when it looks like life's not going your way, when it feels hard or it hurts and it looks like you're not getting your answers, you still praise God. You still start to sing and dance. You can't allow those thoughts to settle in your mind. You gotta worship him. Give him the sacrifice of praise when you don't feel like it. And the reason it's called a sacrifice. Listen, here's what you have to say. Sacrifice. I've got to sacrifice my desire to understand it all. Do you understand? That's why it's called a sacrifice of praise. Anybody can praise Him. When I understand, oh, yeah, I got it. Yeah, I understand. But when I don't understand and the devil starts giving me reasons why it's happening, I got to keep on praising. And I got to lay down on the cross and I gotta lay down on the altar my right to understand. I don't need to understand to obey. I don't need to understand to do what he said do. I don't need to understand to praise him. I praise him because he's good. That's all I know. He is good and his mercy endures forever. [00:44:02] (51 seconds) #UnshakableGoodness
