#SurrenderToGod
“``I think that if we if we don't walk out of this church today and you didn't ask yourself the serious question of what's slowing me down and what's one thing that I need to surrender over to god today, then I think that that's a failure. I think that we need to take a look at this and say, what is the habit that I need to surrender today? Because the life that you want tomorrow is being built by the choices that we make today. If you want different future, begin with different habits. And remember, you don't fight this battle alone because that same savior that died on that cross two thousand years ago, that same savior who forgives the sin and the the same spirit that lives in that rose Christ from the dead lives inside of you. That same power is the only power that can break these cycles in our lives. It's the only thing. Sin becomes a cycle when it's excused, but it loses power when it's confessed, confronted, and surrendered to Christ.”

#RenewYourMind
“I think sometimes we just like to just quit stuff without replacing something. But God's saying, I want you to replace your worry with prayer. Let's replace lust with purity. Let's let's replace complaining with gratitude. Anger for forgiveness, scrolling with scripture, and isolation with Christian community. God wants us to replace our bad habits with good habits. Romans twelve two says, do not be conformed to this world, but by transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing, you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Transformation comes through replacement, not just removal. And it starts with our minds is what Paul said. We have to we have to change our mind. We have to transform our mind, renew our mind with good things. What goes into our mind is gonna come out of our mouth. What goes into our mind is gonna come out of our actions.”

#BewareTheSlowBoil
“Have you ever heard about the the experiment with the frog? If you take a frog and throw it in hot boiling water, what will the frog do? Jump out. It'll jump out. Right? But if you take a frog and you put it in some water that's nice and cold and you put it on the stove and you start turning up the heat to it, that frog is going to adjust to the heat. And the frog will actually adjust to the heat so much that it'll finally just die in the water. And that's what the devil wants to do to us is he wants to he's not just gonna throw us right into the fire all the time. He's gonna let this just simmer, simmer, simmer, simmer until we're dead. Sin always starts small. Satan rarely tempts us with destruction right off the bat. He tempts us and we hear those things, just this one time's not going to hurt. Just this one time. And then we have that small compromise and we said, well, maybe you're right. Maybe this one time won't hurt. And then you then it leads into, well, just one more time. It's not gonna hurt. Then it just becomes one more time and one more time. So these small compromises then become these strong holds on us.”

#RunWithoutBaggage
“God has a course specifically designed for you and for me. And so we have to remove those weights. And ask yourself today, what's slowing me down? And then look at those things and say, everything weighing is a sin, but do they cause that sin? So keep running. Don't quit after one failure. Don't quit after one setback. Don't quit because progress seems to be slow. Keep running. You can you can't run towards god's future while carrying yesterday's baggage and today's chains Or another one that fits here is the goal isn't just to stop sinning. The goal is to remove everything that keeps you from running the race God has marked out for you.”

#ConsistencyOverComfort
“Let's be honest. When we when we're reading god's word, when we're praying and we're reading scripture and we're worshiping and we're coming to church and we're in small groups and we're being held accountable, it feels pretty good, doesn't it? You you always feel like you're making some kind of a progress and and you're getting a little better. Right? And and you're getting a little smarter and you feel really good, but then you just kinda slide away a little bit here and there and here and there, and you know and and you don't feel good. You feel lousy, and you keep telling yourself, well, I I should be doing it. I should be doing that. But for some reason, it's just so much easier to just isolate yourself and stay away than it is to actually get involved. It's kinda like a dieting. Right? How good does it feel when you're on a good diet? Feel really good. And then you get off that diet and you know that you should you be eating that and now you start to feel lousy again, but it's so easy to eat what you want and feel lousy than it is to feel good. But for some reason, our our human brains just want to do it the hard way all of the time.”

#UnplugTheDistractions
“Let's notice something here. The writer mentions weight. Weights and sin are not always the same thing. A weight isn't necessarily sinful. But what does a weight do? Weight is something that slows us down. If we have weights connected to us, it's going to slow us down. And anything that slows us down is slowing our spiritual progress down. So we look at some examples like, is having a constant distraction a sin in your life? No. But it weighs you down. Endless social media strolling, the deep the deep sea strolling. Right? that a sin? No. Does it weigh you down? Sure. Priorities that are wrong weigh you down. Toxic relationships. Here's one that we always forget about, busyness. Is busyness a sin? No. But does busyness slow us down? Yes.”

#UntangleFromSin
“But I think what we gotta remember here, not because those things are all evil, not everything that's wrong is sinful, but everything that slows your walk with Christ should be examined. So I'd ask yourself today, what's slowing down my walk with Christ? The sin which clings so closely, the writer says, if we look at this in different translations, some translations say they easily entangles or ensnares trips you up. The the pitcher is clothing wrapped around a runner's legs. Every time he tries to run, he trips. Sin doesn't just slow us down. It entangles us. And some sins become this recurring cycle. It just goes over and over and over. And there's some sins that we don't always talk about. We talk about the big sins, but Paul mentions some sins like anger, lust, pride, greed, bitterness, gossip, addiction, and here's one that we really hate to talk about in the church but that's gluttony. Right? We don't wanna talk about that one in the church. So if we leave these things unchecked, they keep us from making progress. And so sin doesn't just stay in your life, it trips your race.”

#LetGodTakeControl
“So this morning, if you're not a Christian, I'd ask that you would think about that and ask yourself, do I wanna do I wanna win? Do I wanna lose? Do I wanna live or do I wanna die? And if you're a Christian today and you you heard this and you've been struggling with something for a while now, maybe it's maybe you've been struggling with it for a while. Maybe it's something you just started struggling with. Maybe you made a compromise this week that just one time. That's led into three days in a row. I'd ask that you'd come get prayer with the elders to encourage you, to confess those things, what the Bible says, to confess those things, let the elders pray with you, get the cycle restarted again, get unstuck. Sometimes we gotta quit trying to fight. Like the story of the inner tube is I had to finally realize that I'm gonna die trying to do this my own way. And then when I quit fighting, I was set free. Maybe today, you're under that inner tube, and you're just fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting. Well, I got some good news for you. Just quit fighting and let god take control of it.”
