Unnamed Heroes

God called a couple to Indonesia, and God showed up without a big fancy plan. Nehemiah became the word, and Nehemiah meant walk around, meet people, and let God open doors. A little connect group became a whole community, and God kept doing what only God can do. People from all over Indonesia came together, hundreds came to Jesus, villages received care, audio Bibles went into homes, and a village leader heard the word of God until peace, salvation, and open doors started spreading through the whole place.

God did not stay inside a neat box. A new campus started among digital nomads who came to Changgoo “to find themselves,” and God began finding them. The largest nightclub on the island became a Sunday gathering place, and nations prayed in their own languages, sometimes with God doing things that made no sense except by the Spirit. The church did not need to be afraid of the nightclub. The church became “the infection,” the people who infiltrate darkness because greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world.

Mark announces, “This is the good news about Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God,” and the good news is actually good. Jesus does not come like an angry father looking to crush His child. Jesus comes like a father who sees evil manipulating His child and says, “I will bury you. You never touch my kid again.” God’s fire is against evil, not against the child He loves. The Father wants to wipe evil out because evil is destroying people.

John the Baptist’s call to “prepare the way of the Lord” becomes a command to make roads straight, rough places smooth, and obstacles disappear so Jesus can get to people easily. The four unnamed men in Mark 2 carried the paralyzed man, took on his burden, and tore through the roof because religious crowds were blocking the Healer. True greatness is not standard bearing. True greatness is servanthood, coming low, doing whatever it takes, and carrying someone else until that person can meet Jesus.

Religious people often care more about clean rooms than healed people. Jesus sat with sinners, prostitutes, drunkards, and broken people, while Pharisees carried standards without mercy. Inner transformation matters more than behavior modification, because dead people can look clean on the outside and still be dead inside. God loves messes, vaping people, New Age people, confused people, and online workers who simply say, “I just feel like I need Jesus.” Love stays near, refuses to sell, refuses to argue, and waits until God reveals Himself.
