"give myself to you speak through me God today let it not be of me not my flesh or my mind but let it be spirit and life because I know that when your word goes forth it has power to crush your heart to crush your heart to crush your heart to crush your every hard heart to break down every wall to just dissolve all the doubts and the fears you have the power to do it all so God just take over this space and just speak God and may we hear and may we respond and honor you the king of kings and lord of lords who would speak to us your people today praise your holy name in your name we pray amen amen is it a miracle an amazing thing that God wants to talk to you today I mean come on somebody thats exciting that's an amazing thing and today we're going to talk about what happens when God's people pray and if you notice the punctuation there it's not more happens when God's people pray it's not a question mark its what happens when God's people pray This year, God has put a real burden in my heart as your pastor and as the leader here to call us to a deeper place of prayer individually and as a church. And what I want to talk about today, kind of coming from where we went last week, and if anybody was here and missed last week, thankful to our workers that we can have it online. I encourage you to go back and kind of follow that because usually the Spirit kind of leads us through something. And all week, as we had prayer, he's been kind of leading us even to this place today. So thanks for the technology that we have that. But when we begin to look at what happens when God's people pray, I feel before we get there, I got to kind of take a little bit of time to set the ground for us and acknowledge that there are two realms, right? They're equally real. There is the natural realm, the physical realm where our five senses are at work. We can see. We can see each other. We can hear, taste, touch, feel. This is the world that God created, the natural. Everything that you see, this is the natural realm that we live in, that we experience. But equally real, although invisible and unseen most of the time." [00:23:18] (147 seconds)

"And so we're going to look at that today and thankful to the Lord that he's allowed people over time, he's put in his word to help us understand things about the spiritual realm, the realm that we're not in all the time. And so I want to just point out a couple and I put the references here because we're not going to go into great detail, but if you want to check these out more, take a picture or write them down, these are stories where God has put in the scripture something that allows us to go and look and see what's happening in the spiritual realm. It's always active, but we don't normally see it and know it. But sometimes, like the story of Elisha, this is a story in 2 Kings where Elisha, the man of God, he was causing some trouble for the king of Aram, King Aram. And he had surrounded him during the night in the city of Dothan where they were. And when they woke up in the morning, his servant started to tremble because he looked out and he said, oh no, we're in trouble, there's our enemies and they've surrounded us all around. And Elisha's seen him stressing and worrying. So you know what Elisha prays? He prays, God, open his eyes so he can see." [00:27:30] (79 seconds)

"And there's a great story about Balaam. Do you know, does anybody know the story about Balaam? It's a, it's a fun story. Look this one up in Numbers 22. He's, he's challenged. He's asked to go put a curse on God's people. So he's riding along on his donkey and the donkey keeps like freaking out and he's getting mad. He's beating the donkey and the poor donkey is suffering. But the donkey's given supernatural eyes to see. It says the angel of God standing there with a sword so the donkey wouldn't move. And finally, after beating the poor donkey three times, the Lord opened his eyes and he could see. That there was an angel stopping him on the way. So again, we don't always see and know what's happening, but there are glimpses. And in Job, in Job as the book opens in the prologue, they write about in, in heaven, I think it says that day the angels came to present themselves to the Lord. And we begin to read about this divine assembly happening in heaven that Satan comes to and the angels are there. And so we get a bit of understanding. So if we go all through the scriptures, we can look and see and it, and we have experiences. We're going to talk about them today where we can kind of step in to get a better taste and a better understanding of what's actually happened in the spiritual realm. But I want to take my preaching hat off for just a minute and put a teaching hat on for a minute because you know something in my six plus years here and in most of the sermons I've ever listened to in the church, I've not heard a lot preached about angels or even what happens in the spiritual realm. And so I want to take my preaching hat off for a minute and put a teaching hat on for a minute and put a teaching hat on for a minute and put a So I want to take us through a few things and, and really understand a little bit more maybe than we frequently talk about, about angels and the fallen angels, holy angels. So we're going to look at that for just a minute. And what this is going to do is help us kind of get fresh eyes to see and think about the spiritual realm. Then we're going to go into talking about what happens in that when people pray. So angels, couple things in the Bible, if you want to study them, there's a couple things in the book that I spent a lot of time in teaching. I was having conversations with a friend of mine who was born in South Carolina in the peach kingdom. And we had a conversation and it was not sometimes becoming a small church because it was very delicate and த reinforces the grill, the into Saint Paul in the book of Deuteronomy which is under the Gospel of Revelation, and I was" [00:29:15] (132 seconds)

"ministering spirits holy ones they go there's different names in the Bible that are speaking about angels but a big thing we have to understand about angels of course we know that they're spiritual beings they're not natural we don't see them in the natural with our eyes most of the time they're operating in that realm we are people that God created to rule and reign in this realm but the angels are in in the spiritual realm but they're created beings they're they're not eternal beings the scripture tells us in first Colossians or sorry Colossians chapter 1 in the first chapter it says in him all things were created things in heaven and things on earth things visible and things invisible thrones powers rulers authorities all things have been created through him speaking of Christ so they're created beings but they're spiritual beings right and another thing about the angels they're they're not eternal beings they're not spiritual beings they're not they're innumerable. The Bible will reference sometimes 10 ,000, I think in Revelations, maybe in Daniel, 10 ,000 times 10 ,000. What's interesting is that's kind of the, in Greek, that's kind of the largest word that they would use in their language." [00:31:26] (74 seconds)

"It's actually where we get our word myriad. And so it's basically saying an innumerable amount times an innumerable amount. It doesn't really mean that there's a hundred million angels. It just really means that there's countless, that we can't even number angels operating in the spiritual realm. But I also want to say they're not cute. Okay, like when you think of an angel, people are like, oh, it's like so love for an angel to like visit me. It'd be so cool. And we picture a cute little cherub. Well, do you want to know that most people who had an angelic encounter, they freaked out?" [00:32:40] (37 seconds)

"Daniel, he was terrified, fell flat on his face. Zachariah, gripped with fear. Mary, what did the angel say to her? Don't be afraid. And then the shepherds, it tells us they were terrified. There's one man and wife in Judges that said they thought they were surely going to die because they saw an angel. So angels have their angelic spiritual form. You read about that where it's like all eyes and wings and some crazy stuff, but they do show up in human form as well." [00:33:18] (31 seconds)

"But it seems that even when they do, they cause people to tremble. Angels are messengers. The word is actually for angel is translated messenger. And as we look through scripture, they have some assignments. The scripture tells us in Hebrews 1 .14, aren't all ministering spirits, angels sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" [00:33:49] (24 seconds)

"So we learn from the scripture that angels in the spiritual realm are operating to minister to God's people who are going to inherit, you know, full salvation. On the other side, they're working in, even the scripture tells us, I think it's Matthew 18 .10, that the little ones, it says, their angels in heaven see the face of the Father. So we get a sense that there's angels that minister to believers, angels that minister to little ones, maybe vulnerable ones." [00:34:13] (28 seconds)

"In the book of Revelation, right? To the angel of the church in Philadelphia, to the angel of the church in Laodicea, to the angel of the church. So there's angels that are a different hierarchy and different levels, just like in the spirit, in the natural, we have like armies that have different levels, the same thing with angels. And they operate at different levels. And there's angels that minister to churches and believers. The scripture also tells us about angels that they will participate in the judgment. I was looking in Matthew 13, where it says that God will send his, angels to weed out all causes of sin." [00:34:42] (37 seconds)
