#GodsAftershock
“``So the powers thought that Good Friday was their victory. They thought they had won. And in the very act that they were sure was their triumph, God defeated them. And then he turned around and he built out of the people purchased by the cross, a permanent living exhibit of his wisdom right in front of their faces. We are God's flex. The church is God's standing reminder to the powers of the day, the ones that were certain that they had won, that they have lost everything. So when we gather, when enemies forgive, when the proud kneel, when strangers become family, we are not putting on a nice community program. We are holding up the trophy of Calvary into the faces of the powers. The church exists because Jesus died and rose again. And every we assemble. We are the aftershock of an empty tomb.”

“Here's the last thing I just wanna leave you with. That masterpiece is not held together by your grip. It's held together by nail scarred hands. The wall came down because a body was broken. The tapestry holds because Jesus rose and will not let one thread fall. The powers have already lost. The tomb is already empty. The display is already lit. So we don't gather here anxious, trying to impress the heavens. We gather here grateful. A people made one, a people made clean, a people on the move, And we let the light of a crucified and risen Christ shine straight through us until every ruler and every authority has read off of the ordinary life of this church, the manifold, multi colored, unbeatable wisdom of our God.”

“The weaver is not finished. God is still at the loom and every time you cross a wall you'd rather not cross, every time you drag a hidden sin into the light instead of frosting the window, every time you love somebody in this body when it cost you, every time you pray for this church before you pray for yourself, God takes that thread and he weaves it into a tapestry so beautiful that rulers and authorities in heaven lean in to study it and learn again and again and again how unspeakably wise their God is. So you're not maintaining an institution. You are a color in the masterpiece of God.”

“And then think how that looks to a heavenly audience. Any tyrant can divide people. That's easy. Just turn on social media, you see how easy this is. Fear divides. Greed divides. Pride divides. It is the oldest trick in hell's book. But to take enemies and make them a family? To reach into thousands of years of hatred and weave it into one design. No power in the universe has ever seen wisdom like that. And they see it in the church.”
