Unity in Prayer: Making a Difference Together
Summary
In my sermon, I emphasized the importance of unity, prayer, and the desire to make a difference in the world. I highlighted the need for us to be devoted to the word of God, which serves as our guide and instruction manual in life. I also stressed the importance of reminding ourselves who we are praying to, acknowledging God as the creator of everything and the one who answers our prayers in the best way for us. I encouraged the congregation to live each day in conversation with God, not just out of obligation, but out of a genuine desire and passion to be in His presence. I also spoke about the importance of praying that our lives would make a difference, advancing the gospel and asking God to use us, even if it means being sent into difficult places. Lastly, I emphasized the importance of praying together in unity, with our hearts headed in the same direction and with the same purpose.

Devotional
Day 1: Living in Constant Conversation with God
God desires us to live each day in constant conversation with Him, not just during specific prayer times or church services. This ongoing dialogue with God prepares our hearts and minds to be in tune with His will, enabling us to recognize and respond to His guidance throughout our daily lives. This constant conversation also prepares us for His eventual return, keeping us spiritually alert and ready ([17:32]).
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
Reflection: How can you cultivate a constant conversation with God throughout your day?
Day 2: Prioritizing God in Our Lives
God should be the priority in our lives, not an afterthought or a secondary concern. When God becomes our priority, our conversations with Him become constant and our lives become centered around seeking His kingdom first. This shift in priorities transforms our perspective, influencing how we approach our jobs, our relationships, and our daily activities ([15:32]).
Matthew 6:33 - "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Reflection: What changes can you make to prioritize God in your daily life?
Day 3: Recognizing Who We Are Praying To
When we pray, it's important to remind ourselves of who we are praying to - the Sovereign Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth. This perspective helps us to approach our prayers with humility and faith, trusting in God's power and wisdom to answer our prayers in the best way possible ([27:13]).
Psalm 95:3-5 - "For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land."
Reflection: How does recognizing God's sovereignty influence your prayers?
Day 4: God's Desire to Work in Us and Through Us
God desires to work in us, transforming our hearts and minds, and through us, using us to accomplish His purposes in the world. As we pray and seek God's will, we can trust that He is at work in us and through us, and that He will also work for us in response to our prayers ([39:22]).
Philippians 2:13 - "For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."
Reflection: How have you seen God working in you, through you, and for you?
Day 5: Committing Our Prayers to God
Prayer is an act of trust, a way of committing our concerns, hopes, and desires to God. As we pray, we can trust that God hears us, cares about our prayers, and will answer in His perfect timing and in His perfect way. Our prayers are not just words spoken into the void, but conversations with a loving, attentive God who desires to hear from us ([41:10]).
Psalm 37:5 - "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act."
Reflection: What prayers do you need to commit to God today?
Quotes
1. "It's not about how much Faith you have but it's about what kind of faith that you actually have. We are challenged to believe that God can do the impossible." - Pastor Chris, 00:41
2. "Live each day in conversation with God because we're living preparing for what's to come, not for now. We get too caught up in what's going on right now, in our circumstances, our situation. Walk in conversation with Him every single day." - Pastor Chris, 14:15
3. "You will not have the constant conversation with Jesus until He becomes the priority. Until He becomes the most important thing in your life. Seek first the kingdom of God, not second, not third, but the most important thing you can do is seek Him first." - Pastor Chris, 14:15
4. "We want to be in the presence of God not just on Sunday morning, but throughout our day. We want to walk in your presence, eat in your presence, watch football in your presence. We want to do everything that we possibly can in your presence." - Pastor Chris, 17:07
5. "God can do the impossible. What are you praying about? What have you stopped praying about? What are you going to start praying about? God wants to do something in you, through you, for you, if you just make Him a priority and trust Him." - Pastor Chris, 34:39
