Unity in Mission: Ambassadors of Reconciliation
Summary
In today's message, we explored the profound importance of unity among churches and the mission we share as believers. We are not in competition with one another; rather, we are a team working together to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. It's easy to fall into the trap of criticizing other churches, but we must remember that we are all part of the same body, striving to build each other up and encourage one another in our shared mission. Our purpose is to reach out to those who do not know God and to help them understand the love and sacrifice of Jesus.
I shared a story about a life-saving station that gradually lost its original purpose, becoming more of a social club than a place of rescue. This story serves as a cautionary tale for us as a church. We must not become complacent or inward-focused, forgetting our mission to be a light in our community and the world. Our purpose is to give everyone an accurate picture of God and to share the message of reconciliation that He has entrusted to us.
2 Corinthians 5 reminds us that God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. This means that we are called to be ambassadors for Christ, representing Him in our words and actions. We have the responsibility to share the message that God no longer counts our sins against us because of what Jesus did on the cross. This is the greatest news, and it is our privilege to share it with others.
As ambassadors, we must be mindful of how we represent God. Our conduct should reflect the love and grace that He has shown us. We are called to implore others to be reconciled to God, understanding that we cannot control their response, but we can faithfully deliver the message. The urgency of this mission cannot be overstated, as we never know how much time we or others have.
In closing, I urge anyone who has not yet accepted this gift of reconciliation to do so today. God has done everything on His part; now it is up to us to accept His forgiveness and enter into a relationship with Him. This is the most important decision you can make, and I implore you not to wait another day.

Day 1: Unity in Diversity
In the journey of faith, unity among churches is not just a goal but a necessity. We are reminded that we are not in competition with one another; instead, we are a collective body working together to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Criticizing other churches detracts from our shared mission to reach those who do not know God. By embracing our differences and focusing on our common purpose, we can more effectively share the love and message of Christ with the world. [00:34]
Ephesians 4:3-6 (ESV): "Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
Reflection: How can you actively promote unity within your church and with other local churches this week?
Day 2: Mission Over Comfort
The story of the life-saving station serves as a powerful reminder not to lose sight of our mission. Churches can easily become inward-focused, prioritizing comfort and social activities over their true purpose. We must remain vigilant, ensuring that our primary focus is on being a light in the world and reaching out to those in need. Our mission is to provide an accurate picture of God and share the message of reconciliation He has entrusted to us. [06:15]
Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV): "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Reflection: What steps can you take to ensure your church remains focused on its mission rather than becoming complacent or inward-focused?
Day 3: Ambassadors of Reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5 teaches us that God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. As believers, we are called to be ambassadors for Christ, sharing the message of forgiveness and reconciliation with others. This is not just a duty but a privilege, as we represent Christ in our words and actions. Our conduct should reflect the love and grace that God has shown us, urging others to be reconciled to God. [09:26]
Colossians 3:12-14 (ESV): "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."
Reflection: In what ways can you embody the role of an ambassador for Christ in your daily interactions with others?
Day 4: Reflecting God's Love and Grace
As ambassadors, our conduct should reflect the love and grace of God. We are called to implore others to be reconciled to God, understanding that while we cannot control their response, we can faithfully deliver the message. Our lives should be a testament to the transformative power of God's love, encouraging others to seek reconciliation with Him. [20:26]
1 Peter 2:12 (ESV): "Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation."
Reflection: How can you ensure that your actions and words today reflect the love and grace of God to those around you?
Day 5: The Urgency of Reconciliation
The urgency of our mission cannot be overstated. We never know how much time we or others have, and it is crucial to accept God's gift of reconciliation today. God has done everything on His part; now it is up to us to accept His forgiveness and enter into a relationship with Him. This is the most important decision one can make, and it should not be delayed. [31:01]
Hebrews 3:13-15 (ESV): "But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said, 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.'"
Reflection: Is there someone in your life who needs to hear about God's gift of reconciliation today? How can you share this message with them urgently and lovingly?

We are here to give every single person in our community an accurate picture of God. We want everyone to get this and understand this God and to remember that, you know what, that's our function, that's our purpose, this is why we exist. And when we forget that we are on a mission, this place is going to fall apart. [00:11:40]
God reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. So now that I've done my part, what I'm giving you is, I need you to go to the people and explain that to them so that on their end they're still not at enmity with me and that they accept the forgiveness. [00:14:16]
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. You see that God, how does God speak to the people on the Earth? Through us. That word is it literally means that we are the ones that come alongside these people. God is not going to shout today. [00:20:26]
God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. It says that God made Him who knew no sin. You see, Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. Now, why couldn't God have just taken anyone? [00:32:23]
The message is that, hey, you were guilty, you sinned against this God, but Jesus already paid for your penalty. That's a message. God loved you even though you sinned against Him, and Jesus paid for it, so He doesn't count that against you anymore if you believe in His Son. [00:16:08]
We implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. Paul's begging, would you please be reconciled? And so I said to this girl, man, I just, I care about you. I know I don't know you that well, but I really want you to be right when you come before God. [00:24:34]
