3. "so in Exodus 34 Moses is repenting the tablets you know the first set of tablets the 10 commandments God put those together God wrote them well at some point Moses got angry and he smashed them and so now they're being redone and of course God is involved in this he tells Moses exactly what to do and in conversation Moses and God back and forth the scripture says in Exodus 34 beginning with verse 6 then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed the Lord the Lord God compassionate and merciful slow to anger and abounding in faithfulness and truth this is the God that we serve this is the God we serve we first need to pay attention to the fact that God is compassionate and so I don't know what you're dealing with today but God is compassionate I don't know what struggle you're carrying today but God is compassionate he cares about the things that you care about this morning you're supposed to be compassionate you're supposed to be compassionate you're supposed to be to cast your cares on him because he cares for you that's what scripture tells us in first Peter chapter 5 he cares about you he cares about the things that trouble you he cares about the things that occupy the space of your mind God cares about you he is compassionate he's also merciful that's you not getting what you deserve I deserve punishment for my sins but God extends to me mercy I'm thankful for the mercy of God so God is compassionate he's merciful he's slow to anger thank God for that because I mess up a lot and I won't just call it I mess up I sin against the nature of God against the standards of the Lord but he's slow to anger the scripture tells us in first Peter matter of fact he's he's so slow he's he's slow it seems like he's slow in keeping his promises but he doesn't want anyone to perish he doesn't want anyone to perish he doesn't want anyone to perish but all to come to repentance so some would say wow he's really slow at bringing things to complete fruition but no God is so compassionate he doesn't want anyone to perish and go to hell he doesn't want anyone to be eternally separated from him and so the promise has just taken time to be fulfilled you know that that that total salvation that complete redemption at the end of days and so we don't want to say well God I wish you'd hurry up no because you have loved ones and you've got neighbors and you've got people that you interact with on a regular basis that need Jesus thankfully he's merciful slow to anger and abounding in faithfulness and truth he's abounding in faithfulness and truth so we need to trust that God is faithful and that he knows exactly how to lead us and direct us because his word is true his name is true and he's faithful and he's faithful and he's faithful and he's faithful and he's faithful and he knows how to guide you into all truth and he uses the Holy Spirit to do that today the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth I don't care about the news cycles the commercials I am so tired of this cycle of a election cycle already I every day I must get three to four text messages from those telling me how bad Kamala is and those telling me this and that and Trump's a lot oh I'm just tired of it there's a lot of people that are telling me how bad Kamala is and those telling me this and that and Trump's a lot oh I'm not trying to be more tough than a $5 million in the money is saying he's you" ([00:19:29] (60 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "all, but we want to be led by the Lord. He's faithful and he's true. So I don't know what troubles you came in with, but God is able to take those concerns and cares because he loves you so much and he's able to turn things around for you. We want to pray for my mother -in -law, Marilyn Ross Wendell's there at the hospital. I think Chris is there with her and Sarah stayed the night with her in the hospital. So she's sleeping right now, trying to, trying to recover before she goes back. So we want to pray for Marilyn. She had a procedure this week. She's not responding well to the surgery she had. She's struggling to bounce back. Her liver is, her liver is in trouble, which you know, she has shared that openly with us, but she is dealing with an infection. She is dealing with acute kidney failure, but her numbers are getting stronger. Her kidney is starting to rebound and respond to medication. So just pray she's struggling and just pray for her, pray for the family as they attempt to. Care for her and make sure she knows she's not alone because she, she gets scared. She just gets scared in the state she's in. She gets fearful. And I thank you for many of you that have been praying for her and praying for our family. And we so appreciate that. Dan Boggs called me this morning. His leg, as you know, is he's been struggling with mobility and he's struggling this morning. And we want to especially pray for Dan this morning. There may be some others. I know the Reeds has a lot of people that have been struggling with mobility. I know the Reeds has something that popped up in the middle of the night that just kind of shook them. And so we pray for Patty and we pray for Glenn who are not here this morning. And we pray that God would extend to them the strength and peace that they need. We serve a faithful God. Let's pray. Lord, we love you. We are honored to stand here in the midst of your presence. There is nowhere we can go that you're not. Scripture says, even if we make our bed in hell, you are there. There's nowhere where you can't reach. There's no problem. You're not there. You're not there. You're not here. There's no problem. You can't solve. You are compassionate. You are faithful and you are true to your word, Lord. You're not a man that you should lie. So we hold you to the promises of scripture that by your stripes we are healed, Lord, that you can bring peace that surpasses all understanding that that in Christ we can find strength and we can do all things through the Christ who gives us strength. And I pray that we are recipients, Lord, of your mercy and your power Strengthen your healing virtue, Lord. We pray that you intervene in whatever crisis we might be experiencing today. We pray you intervene. Lord, we pray you bring healing to Maryland today. In Chambersburg Hospital, we pray you manifest the miraculous in her body today. Wrap your peace and strength around her family. God, we pray that you minister to Dan over on Main Street today. That you would touch him and heal him and restore him, God. Lord, we trust you. We trust you. So if we're battling something in our mind, we pray that you bring peace. If we're battling something in our body, we pray you bring healing, God. If we're battling something in our finances, I pray that we would trust you. That we would know that you're faithful. In whatever crisis, whatever difficulty that we're facing, I pray, Lord, that we know that you are a man that keeps your word. You're not a man. You're God. You are not a man that you should lie. The scripture says, you keep your word. We thank you for being faithful to us. Move in our midst today. Bring peace and healing and power in this house today. In Jesus' name, amen. Let's continue standing. I'm going to pop in over here with the worship team, which I don't ever do. But we're thin today in our ranks. But we're going to worship God with our hearts today." 5. "Thank you for your grace, Lord Thank you for your grace Thank you for your mercy Not getting what I do deserve Thank you for your grace Getting what I don't deserve Thank you, Lord For your favor, for your kindness Extended to me I was a wretched sinner And then I met Jesus And now I'm a sinner And now I'm free Because whom the Son sets free Is free indeed I'm no longer defined as a sinner According to Scripture I'm defined as a saint I'm defined as a child of God And I stand here free Redeemed Born again Standing here as your child Sons and daughters of Christ Fill this sanctuary today And we're thankful, Lord Because without you We would be lost Without you We would be condemned To be punished because of sin But you so loved the world You sent your only begotten Son That whosoever would believe in Him Would not perish But have everlasting life My prayer is that we've all Confessed our sins That we've all believed in you, Jesus To be the Son of God The only way to be The only way to heaven And if we've done that Men it in our hearts We stand here as your children Now we pray You guide us Through this part of the service Help me, Lord To relay the truths of Scripture That declares that We're the body of Christ Jesus, you ascended to the right hand Of your Father Where you pray for us Where the Scripture declares You intercede for us But we're here To do your work To carry it on And to do it even greater than you did Because there's more of us to do it So I pray that we understand the Scriptures And our responsibility As the body of Christ Minister to us Through your word In Jesus' name Someone say, I'm free You may be seated in His presence today Hallelujah You've got to make up for the other 30 That aren't here today So you're going to have to amen me loud Alright, you ready? Amen Alright, that's what I expect To the remainder of this service today I want to talk to us about the power Of the body of Christ The body of Christ I'm thankful for the body of Christ I have committed my life To serve the body of Christ And serve as a part of the body of Christ And so I think I carry A lot of hope To lead this local body To guide this local body And I don't take it lightly To be the shepherd of this flock As Scripture declares my role to be Because according to Scripture itself I'll be judged harsher than you I'll be judged doubly Because I chose to preach and teach The word of God And I don't take it lightly to do that You know, the church is often described As the body of Christ And so we need to understand that It's a metaphor That speaks to the interconnectedness The purpose and the unity That we have as believers Now each of us Plays a role In this local body And in the worldwide body Of Christ And together we represent The presence and the work Of Jesus Christ in the world He didn't leave The world And not leave Some representative Some representation Let me get the word out He didn't leave A sin to his father And not leave Some visible representative Some visible representation Of the work that he began On this earth That's you and me It's a weighty responsibility That we have As the representatives Of the kingdom of God As the body of Christ To continue the work of Jesus And so we are the presence And the work of Jesus We are the visible presence And work of Jesus in this world So what does it really mean To be a part of the body of Christ A few weeks ago we had Team Spirit Sunday And we began to talk about The body of Christ And the power of being unified together And so we need to understand First of all that there is Diverse unity in the body There is diverse unity In the body We're all different Thankfully It would be boring If we were all the same Right It would be boring If you were all like me Oh what a miserable life You would have I'm OCD I'm controlling There's a lot of negative things about me Maybe that can be positive I like to clean I like order Sometimes that gets in the way And I have to check myself There's a lot of things There's probably some good things Mixed in there somewhere But there is Diverse unity in the body That seems like a contradictory statement But let's dig in 1 Corinthians 12, 12 For just as the body is one And yet has many parts And all the parts of the body Though they are many Are one body So also is Christ For by one spirit We were all baptized Into Christ One body Verse 13 Whether Jews or Greeks Whether slaves or free And we were all made to drink Of one spirit Verse 14 For the body is not one part But many I think they lost a couple verses But your Bible still has them Even though they're not on the screen And so we're one body With many parts All baptized By one spirit The Holy Spirit Into one body Whether we're Jews or Greeks No matter where we came from Slave or free Male or female We were all made to drink Of one spirit And we are not just one part We're many According to verse 14 So one of the greatest strengths Of the body of Christ Is its diversity So just as the human body Is made up of different parts Eyes and ears And hands And feet So is the church Composed of Different individuals With different gifts Backgrounds and roles I'm not a creative individual I'm not an artsy person A crafty person Give me a paintbrush And I'll be happy to paint the wall I like to paint walls But don't ask me to paint a picture Right? I'm not going to do a mural It'll look like some Crazy Picasso stick figure Combination It'll be ugly I'm not creative in that way But some of you have that kind of Creativity I struggle sometimes To keep things organized In an administrative way So there are A couple individuals A few individuals That I lean on in the church To help me keep things straight And I am thankful For their ability To administrate And so I'm thankful That there's differences Some of you are prayer warriors Some of you Flow in different spiritual gifts And the Bible" ([00:47:58] (60 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "tells us that those spiritual gifts that we all are enlisted with, that everyone has a spiritual gift, you need to discover what yours is. It's to edify and to build up the body of Christ. That's what it's, the main purpose of your spiritual gift is to encourage and strengthen and build up the body of Christ. So we're all different. Thankfully, we're all different. We all come from different backgrounds. We all have different gifts. We all have different roles. And unity does not mean uniformity." 10. "I'm thankful that we have different gifts and abilities and talents, but I'm thankful that we all have the same purpose. So we can all then find some solid footing on our purpose as the children of God. And we can, in our differences, work together to promote the kingdom of God and to point people to Jesus Christ. And so when we work together as the body of Christ, the impact is far greater than one person could make." ([00:57:52] (34 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
