God views us as United with Christ. This is a spiritual transaction we can't make happen. God unites us to his son so that when his son dies, we die. If we have been United with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be United with him in a resurrection like his. [00:07:34]

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For the one who has died, namely Us in Union with the death of Christ, has been Justified from sin. [00:07:53]

When you experience your own execution for all your law breaking in Christ's substitutionary execution for you, you're no longer held guilty for your sins. You've paid your price. When Christ died, he died for you. He bore your punishment, and you die with Christ. [00:08:38]

When I rise from the dead with Christ and walk in newness of life, I walk as a Justified person who is no longer guilty in the court of Heaven because I have been executed capital punishment for my sin. Now it would be inadequate to think of our atonement that way alone. [00:09:34]

You also have died to the law through the body of Christ. The law itself designed that you would die to the law, and now you're experiencing that it was through the body of Christ crucified on the cross and your union with him by which you died to the law. [00:11:00]

The law ceased to be as your way of relating to God and getting right with God so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, as Christ. Belong to another, to Christ and to God, in order that we may bear fruit for God. [00:11:39]

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so we die to the law and are thus released from the law to that which held us captive so that we serve in the new way of the spirit and not in the old way of the written code. [00:11:57]

Through the law, I died to the law. The law designed my death to the law as a way of justification and put me on a new footing, life to God. Now he explains how it happened: I have been crucified with Christ in my union with Christ, my identity with Christ. [00:13:03]

It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. He's the center of my life, the animating force of my life, the chief value and Treasure of my life. The embodiment of my entire new existence is in Christ, and the way I live in My New Self is by faith in the Son of God. [00:13:25]

I'm no longer law-driven; I'm Faith-driven. I live by faith in the Son of God, and at the root of that faith is this awesome, precious, sweet reality that in dying for me, he loved me. In Rising for me, he loved me, gave himself, and Rose for me. [00:14:04]

When I say I am crucified with Christ or when Paul says back here that I am United with him in death like his, how does that happen? What's my experience of that? How does it relate to Faith? In other words, in the actual moment of that conversion. [00:14:20]

When we are united to Christ and his death becomes ours, we'll pick it up there next time. [00:14:41]
