Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

Christianity does not address itself primarily and in the first instance either to the heart and emotions or to the will. It addresses itself primarily to the mind. No, you see the importance of this. Why do I say that? Well, I say that for this reason, that there are so many today who think of Christianity in the Christian Message in terms only of some vague General Spirit. [00:12:08]

This is a message, my friends, I say, which is not addressed primarily to a man's emotions nor to his will. Before that, it is a message that comes to a man's mind, to his understanding. Why do I say that? Well, you see, the terms make me say that. [00:19:08]

Christianity and the message of Christianity is nothing but this Apostolic teaching, this Apostolic Doctrine. It is the teaching that is found in this book. You mustn't add to it, you mustn't subtract from it. There are churches that have added to this, and they ask people to believe things that are not found here. [00:32:51]

Grace is favor shown to people who are utterly undeserving of it. Grace is kindness to people who deserve nothing but punishment and retribution. The grace of God, now says Paul, that's the thing you've got hold of, which is come to you as it is in all the world and bringeth forth fruit as it doth also in you since the day he heard it and knew the grace of God in truth. [00:44:00]

Christianity is not a vague feeling; it is something very definite. You can tell whether you believe it or whether you don't, and that is why the Creeds and the confessions came into being. Because, you see, if you don't believe this, you've got nothing but chaos. If you don't believe in a body of Doctrine, well, what have you got? [00:35:17]

The Apostle Paul puts it, the church is built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, and I have no right to assert my opinion. I must be certain that I'm on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, and I look at them, and this is what I find. [00:38:56]

Christianity is about understanding and accepting the truth of God's grace as revealed in Jesus Christ. It is about recognizing our need for salvation and embracing the transformative power of the Gospel. This is the essence of Apostolic Christianity, a faith rooted in the teachings of the New Testament and the revelation of God through His Son. [00:48:35]

The grace of God is favor shown to the undeserving, highlighting the need for humanity to recognize its sinful state and the necessity of divine intervention. This grace is the essence of the Gospel. [00:44:00]

The Apostle warns against reducing Christianity to a mere moral uplift or an emotional experience. He stresses that the Gospel is a revelation from God, not a human discovery. It is a message that begins with God, focusing on His grace and the salvation He offers through Jesus Christ. [00:35:17]

Christianity is fundamentally a Gospel, a message of good news that is universal and authoritative. It is not merely a set of moral guidelines or an emotional experience, but a divine revelation of God's grace. [00:08:16]

The Gospel addresses the mind and understanding before it touches the heart and will. It is a body of doctrine, a corpus of teaching that must be learned and understood. [00:19:08]

Apostolic Christianity is rooted in the teachings of the New Testament and the revelation of God through His Son. It is about understanding and accepting the truth of God's grace as revealed in Jesus Christ. [00:48:35]
