"Ultimately nothing matters except what we think of him. Those Hebrew Christians quite clearly had had some remarkable experiences, but at the time that the man wrote his letter to them, they were in difficulties, they were unhappy, and they were very discouraged. Why? Well, there's only one answer to the question: it was because they were beginning to become shaky on the doctrine of their blessed Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." [00:02:38]

"Our faith must always be centered Upon Our blessed Lord himself, not on experiences, not on our own works, not on our own activities, not on our own goodness and morality. If you lean on anything else, sooner or later, like those Hebrew Christians, you'll find yourself to be in trouble. The one thing we have to do always is to look unto Jesus and to keep our gaze steadfastly fixed upon him, and if we do that, we can never go wrong." [00:03:58]

"Now this doesn't mean, of course, that Isaiah was saying that actually he was going to be called by these names because he wasn't called by these names. This is the biblical way of expressing what he would do. You know, the name stands always in the scripture for the power, for the activity. Take, for instance, a perfect illustration of this: you remember Peter and John going up to the temple one afternoon at The Hour of Prayer. They saw this impotent man seated at the beautiful gate of the temple, and they healed him." [00:07:38]

"His name should be called wonderful. What does this convey to us? Well, I think the best way to look at it is this: he is wonderful in his person. You get that again endlessly in the New Testament. Look at that great statement of it by the Apostle Paul: great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest In the Flesh. It is the most wonderful, the most amazing thing that has ever happened." [00:15:04]

"Wonderful in all his works, most wonderful, as the writer of the hymn puts it, and there it is. I need keep you with this. I'm giving you some seed thoughts. Work it out for yourself. Imagine what it was like to be living in Palestine and to be seeing him and seeing these Mighty acts which he worked and performed. People were baffled and amazed, astonished at this wonderful power that had been given to men." [00:19:32]

"Now here you see is something that comes in its right place and position with respect to him. We've been told unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and we are looking at the babe of Bethlehem, and everything about him is wonderful, and everything he's going to do is wonderful, and his teaching is incomparable. They couldn't understand it there, how this man learning never having learned." [00:29:51]

"Yes, he's a counselor. Well, now, who is this? This is Jesus. This is a man. This is the one that was laid in the manger, that has grown up as a little boy and worked as a carpenter. Well, who is this? What's the explanation? And here's the answer: oh yes, he is truly man, truly men. He is a child, but he is the Mighty God, and that's the only explanation of the Marvel and the Wonder." [00:30:30]

"He's the Mighty God. He never failed. He took on him, as that second chapter of Hebrews taught us, he took on him the Seed of Abraham. He didn't take on him the nature of angels. He stretched out a helping hand to the seed of Abram, and because the children are partakers of Flesh and Blood, he himself likewise took part of the same. Oh yes, he became truly man, but he didn't cease to be Mighty God." [00:32:32]

"He's the father of everlasting life. He's the author of it. He's The Giver of it. He's the provider of it. That's why he came. We were dead in trespasses and sins. We need new life. We become partakers of the Divine nature. We start a life which is endless, which is eternal, which is Everlasting. That's the full sense and connotation of this particular term." [00:39:14]

"Peace between man and God, peace between men and men, peace within a man himself. He is the Prince of Peace. Again, if you like, the author. He's called the Prince of Life in exactly the same way as he's called the father of Life, the Prince of Life, The Prince of Peace, the author, the begetter, the guarantor of its continuing, its persisting." [00:42:42]

"The secret of the Christian is that he sees these things that are unseen. The things which are seen are temporal; the things which are not seen are Eternal. That's the secret. And once you've seen this person, once you know who he is, once you know why he came and what his purpose was in coming, the things which he has done, the things which he's going to do, once you realize the significance of these various designations, you look beyond the world as you see it." [00:43:20]

"Remember, though born a helpless babe, he is the Mighty God. He is the prince of peace, and all his enemies shall be destroyed, and a renovated, renewed, glorified Universe shall bask in the sunshine of the glory of God and spend its eternity singing the Praises of him that is upon the throne and of the Lamb, he whose name Shall be Called wonderful, counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting father, the Prince of Peace." [00:45:01]
