I think that's a a very great fallacy because u in the Bible itself you find there are even exhortations to continue in prayer Isaiah tells us not to give God any rest rest nor peace but to persist, and there are our Lord's own remarks about the importunity of the Widow and others. [00:01:45]

It seems to me therefore that the important thing is that we should always uh pray in faith not a sort of wild cry in the dark or crying out to whatever Gods may be not nothing frantic or desperate uh the prayer of faith means in a sense a quiet spirit yet there can be an urgency. [00:02:16]

I would say that one is to go on praying until one is given some kind of indication by the spirit of God that we're not to continue. I've never forgotten a thing I once read I think it was General kitchen of the Salvation Army uh our friend here the colel may remember the incident better than I do. [00:02:39]

I believe that we should be much more sensitive than we are and less mechanical to the whole operation of the spirit in this matter of prayer the spirit maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be be uttered and so on the spirit should be very active in prayer. [00:04:18]

The gifts are given not so much to individuals as to the church which is the body of Christ, hence his analogy in the 12th chapter and is ridiculing the idea of regarding these as special to ourselves and becoming individualistic about them and pointing out how all these belong to the functioning of the entire body. [00:06:17]

We should all glory in the fact that we are members of the body of Christ that we should seek to serve him and to manifest his glory and the power of the spirit in our various gifts and Ministries that are given to us remember wisdom and others come in and all these matters and the gift of faith. [00:06:45]

Faith healing is not something mechanical that you always do. I think I've partly suggested the answer to this question in some remarks I made in one of the meetings by now I can't remember which of them uh but when I when I when I suggested this that in all this matter there is it seems to me a leading. [00:09:06]

The prayer of faith which as I tried to indicate is not which does doesn't mean simply that you believe the scriptures and that you therefore believe that if you pray and anoint well that this person is going to be healed now this as I tried to show was a very definite prayer which is given so that there is a certainty about it. [00:11:54]

With the advance and the growth of knowledge things which were once regarded as Supernatural are now found not to be Supernatural. We know that primitive peoples tend to invoke the Supernatural and the miraculous where it is unnecessary and we must be very careful in this respect so that we mustn't only Define this in terms of something that we cannot explain. [00:13:57]

The Bible seems to me to make it clear that there are these actions of God we were discussing this partly in the discussion session last night uh and it isn't just a question of invoking God invoking God to cover our ignorance or our lack of knowledge it is that we are aware of an action which is amazing and stupendous. [00:15:37]

May it not be that dramatic phenomena like Devil possession are the devil's own way of distracting our attention from his main but much more subtle attack. Yes that's very typical if I miss s and I won't say of whom uh but it is very typical uh I'm almost enough of a higher critic to say who sponsored that question originally. [00:20:10]

We must take a balanced view of these things and beware of this false antithesis there's either all which doesn't apply here at all the devil does it in both ways in all ways we are not ignorant of his devices and I feel that attention needs to be called today in this country particularly to this aspect of which we haven't seen much in the past.
