The natural world is filled with evidence of intentional design, from the intricate systems within living creatures to the purposeful way they adapt to their environments. This is not the result of random chance or purposeless processes, but rather the handiwork of a Creator who engineered life with wisdom and care. When we observe the complexity and order in nature, we are witnessing the clear signature of God’s workmanship, which points us to His glory and power. [26:13]
Romans 1:20 (ESV)
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Reflection: When you look at the world around you today, what is one example of design or order in nature that points you to the reality of a Creator? How can you let that observation lead you to worship?
Genesis 1 and 2 are not myths or allegories, but real historical accounts of how God created the heavens and the earth. The words of Scripture are to be understood in their normal meaning and context, just as Jesus and the apostles did. This approach affirms the authority and clarity of God’s Word, allowing every believer to understand the truth of creation and God’s intentions for humanity. [51:55]
Genesis 1:1, 27; 2:7, 21-24 (ESV)
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth...
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them...
Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature...
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Reflection: How does reading Genesis 1 and 2 as real history, rather than allegory, shape your understanding of God’s purpose for your life and identity?
Contrary to the evolutionary worldview that sees death as a normal and even good mechanism for progress, the Bible teaches that death is a curse and an enemy. Death entered the world through sin, and it is something that Christ came to destroy. All of creation longs for the day when death will be no more, and God’s original design will be restored. [49:52]
1 Corinthians 15:21-22, 26 (ESV)
For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive... The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Reflection: In what ways do you see the effects of death and brokenness in the world around you? How does the promise that Christ will destroy death give you hope today?
God has given His Word so that every believer, empowered by the Holy Spirit, can understand its truth without needing to rely solely on experts or authorities. The normal meaning of Scripture is accessible to all, and God invites you to search the Scriptures, just as the Bereans did, to know Him more deeply and discern truth from error. [55:40]
Acts 17:11 (ESV)
Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Reflection: What is one passage of Scripture you have hesitated to study on your own? Will you commit to reading it this week, asking the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding?
Ultimately, every person is either in Adam—dead in sin and separated from God—or in Christ—redeemed, forgiven, and given eternal life. The invitation is open to come to Christ, receive His life, and be made new. This is the most important decision anyone can make, and it determines our hope, identity, and destiny. [59:03]
John 5:24 (ESV)
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
Reflection: Have you personally trusted Christ for salvation, moving from death to life? If not, what is holding you back from coming to Him today? If you have, how can you share this hope with someone else this week?
This morning, we gathered to reflect on the profound ways God reveals Himself through both His Word and His creation. We began by acknowledging the countless reasons we have to worship and thank God, recognizing that His handiwork is evident not only in the heavens but also in the intricate design of every living creature. The natural world, when observed honestly, points unmistakably to a Creator whose workmanship is purposeful, intelligent, and filled with intention. From the rapid adaptation of cave fish and finches to the remarkable changes in moths and even the inherited responses of mice, science increasingly uncovers systems that are highly regulated, targeted, and engineered—far from the randomness often attributed to evolutionary processes.
We explored three foundational questions that every believer should be prepared to answer: How do we interpret Genesis 1 and 2? What is our perspective on Darwinian evolution and its compatibility with Christian faith? And are we open to the natural world pointing to design? By examining scientific evidence, it becomes clear that adaptation and complexity in living things are not the result of random mutations and blind chance, but rather the result of God’s intentional design. The mechanisms that allow creatures to adapt are built in from the beginning, enabling them to thrive in diverse and challenging environments.
Turning to the compatibility of Darwinian evolution with biblical faith, we saw that evolutionary theory is not only scientifically weak—failing to explain the origin of life, the sudden appearance of complex body plans, and the faithful reproduction of kinds—but also fundamentally incompatible with the biblical narrative. Scripture teaches that Adam and Eve were directly created by God, that death is a curse and not a creative force, and that all humanity descends from a single pair. The evolutionary worldview, by contrast, normalizes death and undermines the historical reality of sin and redemption.
Finally, we considered how to faithfully interpret Genesis 1 and 2. The plain reading of Scripture, giving words their normal meaning in context, affirms the historical reality of creation as described in the Bible. This approach honors both the authority of God’s Word and the example set by Jesus and the apostles. Ultimately, the most important question is not about science or history, but about our standing before God: Are we in Adam, or are we in Christ? The invitation remains open to come to Christ and receive the life He freely offers.
Genesis 1:26-28 (ESV) — > Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
> So God created man in his own image,
> in the image of God he created him;
> male and female he created them.
> And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Romans 1:20 (ESV) — > For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (ESV) — > For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
Darwinian evolution is a weak scientific theory. Boom, right out of the bot. You know, in a debate, you're like, you're supposed to do some punching, right? So there's a punch. It's a weak scientific theory, and it's a poor ev. It's a poor explanation for the design that we see in living things. Number two, the basic premises of evolutionary thinking are not compatible with, and I added the word biblical Christian faith. [00:38:36] (29 seconds) #BodyPlansAppearEarly
But most importantly, the Bible says that there was a real man who brought real sin and real death into this world and his name was Adam. He really did sin. And that everybody who has ever lived on this planet is in Adam and they need a real savior. And so it directly ties to salvation. [00:48:15] (25 seconds) #DesignIsClearlySeen
This death driven worldview is incompatible with Christianity. The Bible also says that you and I can see the design clearly in nature. And what you're looking at there on the screen are two microscopic gears and they connect the back, back legs of a little insect called a plant hopper. And this thing can launch itself from 0 to 700 GS and the legs have to extend at the same time. And the Lord Jesus who made this plant hopper connected those back legs, the Lord Jesus that we just sang about, who did things in a million different ways. This is one of them. You're getting a glimpse at one of them at a microscopic level. [00:50:14] (42 seconds) #WordsHaveFixedMeaning
If someone can make words mean anything they want them to mean, then the words really don't mean anything. And so may I suggest when you pick this book up, you give the words their normal meaning and the context. Otherwise the intentions of the Bible giver become unknowable. [00:53:44] (20 seconds) #JesusAffirmsGenesisTruth
The reason why I give words their normal meaning and their normal context is because the Lord Jesus Christ did, and he knows what he's talking about. When someone asked him, is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife? He said, have you not read? Have you not read? And then he quoted from Genesis chapter one. He said this from the beginning of creation, not after millions of years, not after an evolution from ancestors, from the beginning of creation. He said, God made them male and. And female. And then he quoted from Genesis chapter 2. Therefore, man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. He understood Genesis 1 and 2, and he gave words their normal meaning and their normal context. [00:56:37] (45 seconds)
``The Bible says there are only two groups of people. Not black people, white people, rich people, poor people, and all the things that we, that we argue over. It says there's only people who are in Adam, dead and lost in trespasses of sins, without hope and alienated from God, or those who are in Christ. In Christ, born again, saved, redeemed, made close to the Father with hope of eternal life. The question is, where are you today? Are you in Adam or are you in Christ? I'm here to say today, with the full authority of the scripture, come to Christ today. Come to Christ today and he will give you life. He will give you life. [00:58:17] (52 seconds)
