“And you say, I I I don't pray very well. Well, the key to praying very well is to pray more. I promise you'll get better at it. And you well, you know, I just I'm not really good at this whole prayer thing. You know the best prayers in the Bible? And it it'll sound like, but it's got nothing to do with salvation. Here it is. Lord, save me. That was a prayer prayed by Peter when he tried to walk on water, saw the wind, saw the waves, saw everything going on. It began to sink. Was out there in the middle of the sea. He was going to drown. He was going to die. Looked up at Jesus. Lord, save me. And he saved me. He picked him up. Was it eloquent? No. Was it pretty? No. Was it polished? No. Was it well thought out? No. But it worked. Because your prayers matter. So we see in this particular passage of scripture that we are to pray.”

#PrayerIsFrontline
“Wherever we get that mindset, wherever we get that idea, wherever we get that notion, wherever that comes from, we know with certainty that it does not come from scripture. Nowhere, Genesis to Revelation, nowhere does the Bible teach us that our prayers are a last line of defense. Quite the contrary. When you look at scripture, anywhere you wanna look about prayer, you are not going to find it as a wall of defense. You are going to find it as a front line of offense.”

#PrayersHavePower
“Over and over and over again, that is always the first place you go. Is anyone among you sick? Well, have you thought about trying this? Have you considered that the success has been had by doing something like this? No. Over and over and over again, pray. What's the need? It's physical. Pray. What's the need? It's spiritual. Pray. What's the need? I gotta have a miracle. Pray. Because your prayers matter. In fact, the bible drops that famous line there in that text where it says that the prayer of a righteous person has great power. And you say, well, you know, Kyle, I appreciate that, but but I I don't really think of myself as a righteous person. Well, I've got excellent news for you. You should. If you have been born again, if you have been bought with the blood of Jesus Christ, you are a righteous person. Not because of the stuff you have done, but because of the righteousness of Jesus that has been given to you for your salvation.”

#PrayBeyondSelf
“So here comes the question that you can wrestle with. When is the last time that you prayed to God and you weren't the main character of that prayer? You weren't the starring role in that prayer drama. When is the last time you went to God in prayer on behalf of someone else? Because that's what we're told to do. We're told to pray pray. So I'm glad you're praying, but are you and praying? I'm glad you're praying for yourself. You should. Are you praying for others?”

“Because your prayers matter. In fact, the bible drops that famous line there in that text where it says that the prayer of a righteous person has great power. Not because of the stuff you have done, but because of the righteousness of Jesus that has been given to you for your salvation. Elijah, he was a guy just like us and he prayed and it didn't rain. God shut up the heavens because a guy just like us prayed.”

#TrustedEncourager
“Regardless of how little space he takes up in scripture, based upon those five times that he's mentioned, here's what we know. He was a faithful traveling companion. He was a trusted courier. He was an encourager. Let's simplify that. Based on the five times his name is mentioned, he's faithful. He's trusted. He's an encourager. We don't know a lot about this guy, but we know enough about this guy. I know enough about Tychicus to know that I would like Tychicus. I would like to be around Tychicus, and I would like to be more like Tychicus. And you would like Tychicus. And you would want to be around Tychicus. And you should want to be more like Tychicus.”

#PrayerIsntLastResort
“Intellectually, I know that you know your prayers matter. But if you are like me, very often times we don't really live as though they matter. We know there is a God. We know that he loves us. We know that he demonstrated that love for us and that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. We know he tells us to pray. We know all of that stuff, but very often when we think of prayer, we almost look at it like a spiritual Alamo type situation. It's it's my last stand. All is lost. Nothing left to do now but pray.”

#PrayPrayServe
“So just to recap, our three points in this sermon have been included. Pray, pray some more, and now be a faithful servant. This is great news. Amazingly great news. You say, why is it so great? Because anyone can do it. Anyone can pray. Anyone can pray some more, and anyone can be a faithful servant. Not everyone can be a king. Not everyone can be an emperor. Not everyone can be a CEO. Not everyone can be top dog. But everyone can show up and do something. I don't care who you are. I don't care where you've come from. I don't care how long you've been a Christian or any of those things. I don't care who your dad was. I don't care if you've got the GED or the PhD. It doesn't matter. Anyone can pray, pray some more, and be a faithful servant.”
