This morning, we began by declaring our trust in Jesus—not just as a song, but as a deep conviction that God will not fail us, even when life is confusing or circumstances are hard to understand. We celebrated the ways God is at work in our church family, from the creative gifts of our youth to the outreach and generosity that marks our community. But at the heart of our time together was a call to anchor our lives in the unchanging truth of God’s Word.

We live in a world where truth and opinion are often blurred, where catchy sayings masquerade as scripture, and where feelings are mistaken for facts. Yet, God’s truth stands apart—unchanging, reliable, and revealed most fully in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus doesn’t just teach truth; He is truth. The closer we walk with Him, the clearer our path becomes. Truth is not merely a set of facts to memorize or doctrines to debate; it is a relationship to be lived. When we abide in Jesus, we begin to see the world, ourselves, and God more clearly.

Abiding in truth means making it our home, not just a place we visit when life gets tough. It’s about consistency—returning to God’s Word daily, letting it shape our thinking, and allowing it to transform us from the inside out. We are called not to be spiritual nomads, hopping from one partial truth to another, but to put down roots in the truth of Christ. This requires devotion and discipline, especially when the world’s opinions and our own feelings try to pull us away.

God’s Word is not just informative; it is transformative. It sanctifies us, sets us apart, and protects us from deception. The enemy’s lies often sound close to the truth, but even a small distortion can contaminate our hearts. That’s why we must let scripture be our filter, our defense, and our guide. When we know the truth, we can spot the counterfeit and stand firm.

Ultimately, truth brings freedom. Jesus came to break the chains of lies, guilt, and fear that bind us. Freedom is not the absence of struggle, but the presence of victory in Christ. We are not defined by our past or by what has held us captive, but by the One who sets us free. Today, we are invited to step out of darkness and into the light, to let God’s truth shape our identity, and to walk in the freedom He offers.
